Accidental Villain 8
Okay so now that Jaune had almost everything sorted out and worked out, if he got his timeline right the next thing he needed to do was to stop a convoy of ingredients and materials that in a rough way could be needed to make the rage and mind control pill. How had it got so crazy that this was something that he could calmly think about while sipping on his hot chocolate, well… honestly Jaune had no clue he was just going with it right now and so far it seemed to be working out okay-ish; unless you count the pain everywhere and the cold sleeping area.
But enough of that; the convoy was going to be travelling through downtown Vale on its way to MERLOT's big ugly building. Now that Jaune didn't want to offend anyone that worked there he could call it ugly, I mean have you looked up? The thing is an eyesore, what architect signed off on it?
The route was all laid out in Juniors notes and he was providing extra security with his suited grunts as well as hiring additional help in the form of… Mercury Black and Emerald Sustari…
Greaaaaat, just great. The 2 people that Jaune was sure would want to hurt him more than anything as one of them he had knocked from the top 10 list and the other one if he pulled this off he was probably going to knock from the list as well. This plan could not be any less appealing if it tried, and Jaune really hoped that it didn't try, it already looked hard enough as it was.
His plan for dealing with the goons was simple enough; he had a couple of gadgets for them but with the Villains? He just planned on ignoring and hoping that a hero or 2 showed up to fight them and then maybe Jaune could do what he did best; work when nobody was watching. He hated it when people used to stand there and watch him mix chemicals or type out reports, he knew what he was doing, and it wasn't rocket surgery! Some would say rocket science but that wasn't hard.
In typical villain fashion the convoy was going to be moving at night-time so hopefully the cover of darkness would give Jaune the additional cover he needed and if he used his camouflage equipment then nobody would be able to spot him… he hoped.
As he was stocking up on his equipment and sorting it into his respective pockets of his lab coat and around his wrist, he looked down at his newest invention. The countless encounters with Pyrrha had given him the idea and inspiration to create magnetic boots, allowing him to attach easily to anything metallic with great range, however he opted to leave them here for the time being as if Pyrrha did show up then she could just hold him in place as the boot contained a fair bit of metal within them. Instead he went with adhesive gloves, required more strength to use but he wasn't going to be crawling up any buildings any time soon, just hanging off the side of a truck.
As Jaune arrived in an alleyway off to the side of a nice long straight bit of road he noticed that there were more than a few red lights in the area, perfect for setting up his ambush.
The long road also gave him an idea for a group hang out with his friends so he took out his little journal; it had a list of different activities that he wanted to do with his friends that he had seen groups do on TV and read about in some books. He was surprised that a road trip hadn't made its way on to the list beforehand. There were simple ideas like a movie night, board game night (Compost Conquer was high on the list of games to play), a visit to the zoo, have a coffee in a coffee shop while talking with all his friends, talk about work with friends and go bowling were just a few handful of things to do. Although this was not to be confused with his list of things to do for a date, even if all the ideas were pretty much the same.
Jaune wrote down his ideas and then sat on a little crate in the alleyway and very quickly ran a little hacking program into the street lights that were directly in-front of him and managed to get the timing down perfectly so that he would be able to flip them with enough time for him to do his plan, and with more than enough room to fall back on his back up plan… and the back up plans he had for if the first couple failed.
It was always best to be pre-pre-pre prepared he found, even if it did seem premature, but most of the time he was rarely wrong so it worked in his favour.
As Jaune waited hidden in the alleyway he watched as a construction team worked on the side of the road as they moved around with their large trucks and vans out of the way of the main road, there seemed to be a person on each of the drivers seats even though they clearly were not going to be going anywhere anytime soon. This would give Jaune suitable cover to slip away into a crowd of workers if he managed to grab a hard hat and a clipboard; who was going to check on a building inspector? That was all if the plan didn't go… to plan.
Seeing as he still had time Jaune went over the plan he had in his head: switch the lights to red and stop the convoy, shoot trip wires at the back of the rear car so it couldn't follow, stick onto the back door of the truck when they are about to set off, use the laser cutter to open the doors, plant explosive gel, cut a hole into the cabin and shock the driver, drive to a safe location and then blow the truck up and most importantly AVOID EMERALD AND MERCURY.
Well avoid them and any heroes that maybe could show up – well maybe see Pyrrha if possible, she was the only woman that seemed to want to have anything to do with him, even if it was to throw him in jail. No doubt if this was any other life she wouldn't give him a second glance unless it was to see how pathetic he was, but at least it was conversation at the very least and talking to a girl was good enough for him right now, maybe once this was all over he would get the confidence to try and actually go up to a girl and try to ask her out.
Jaune passed the rest of the time by working on his juggling and his card trick skills, he watched something a while ago that said that magic and unusual skills might help with making friends, he could remember a while back in the lab when he had managed to pick the pocket of another colleague of some important credentials and then handed them back to them when they tried looking for them, he wanted to seem helpful and approachable. However after several days the experiment had no results that he expected, in-fact people seemed to avoid him even more as they noticed they lost a lot of things around him; one of the many failed social experiments that Jaune had conducted, but juggling might yield some strong results.
When the convoy finally rounded the corner Jaune stood from his seated position on the bin and waited for the 3 vehicles to get into the right position and then he flipped the switch on his hacking device and a red light blared on the traffic light.
Okay now he could put his plan into action; 3-2-1
One of the construction vans revved its engine and then shot forward slamming into the side of the rear car before Jaune had taken a step out of the alleyway, freezing him in place as another van went the opposite way and smashed into the car in-front of the truck.
A large man wearing a white robe grabbed the door of the truck and ripped it off and then flung the suit wearing henchman out and down the street. Jaune recognised those robes and the insignia that was on the back of the; the White Fang.
'Sigh' this had suddenly gotten a lot harder to deal with.
A suit wearing grunt had managed to get himself out of one of the cars and dusted himself off and then charged forward towards the larger man. His head was now clearly made of metal so he intended to probably head but him, however a portal opened in-front of him and he charged through that instead and came charging back out the way he came in and did not manage to slow himself down enough to avoid putting a hole in the side of his crashed car.
Another suit climbed out of the crashed car and made to move towards them, put started to wobble around and then vomited, and then fainted.
Classy
The large White Fang was then joined by the 2 drivers, one with purple shards on his arms and the other who was covered in green and white stripes. Several more members joined them, however these were the only ones who were clearly wearing their robes, the others were all disguised as workers and were wearing construction gear.
Jaune watched as they made to grab the back of the trucks doors, but they were blown off and the doors managed to smack and knock down many of the White Fang, and then Jaune saw him; Mercury Black.
He quickly blasted out of the back of the truck, managing to double drop kick one before bouncing off another's chest and then split kicking 2 more, he was moving like a blur. He never stayed still for more than a second maybe to plan his next move. Meanwhile the large member who had been the first to attack the convoy was stood still staring into the back of the truck oblivious to the violence that was going on around him until the man with the purple shards shock his arm hard and he turned and saw Mercury knocking down his raiding party like they were nothing.
"Black!" He snarled. "Where did he come from?" he just managed to finish the sentence before a sharp and strong kick hit him in the back of the knees and then he was struck around the face with a hard metal canister and the answer to the pervious obliviousness was given to Jaune; Emerald Sustari, she had clearly cast and illusion on him when the door had been kicked open and now she was making her escape.
This was Jaune's chance as everyone was fighting each other and he watched Emerald backflip and lock into combat with the green and white woman. Jaune darted towards the truck and managed to get inside without being stopped by anybody, now he could plant the explosive gel in peace and then all he had to do was drive away while everyone was still occupied. There was nothing in-front of him after all, so it was clear sailing for him.
After coating the first of the canisters he noticed that Mercury was about to step on a downed White Fang members skull, and with the force of his kicks he had no doubt that he would kill him; so aiming quickly Jaune blasted out a concussion blast that knocked Mercury away from the fallen figure. He tried to look to where the blast had come from but the large leader was upon him and he had to fight him off now.
Spraying the rest he heard a clambering and it was the man with purple shards coming from his arms staring with confusion at Jaune.
"You're the weirdo who was juggling in the alley, the hell are you doing in here?"
Jaune in response held up the detonator and outside he could hear someone cry out faintly about some rubies? Whatever that meant.
"I have in my hands an explosive trigger, and if I flip it I can level this street. Do you wish to test me?" Obviously Jaune never planned to do so and honestly it wasn't much of a switch but a complicated series of movements when it was in a safe place to make sure it didn't go off and hurt someone accidently, but the speed that he scrambled out of the truck was something that amused Jaune enough. He had always wondered what it was like to give a cool villain phrase and now he knew… he didn't like it.
Jaune then steps out of the truck into the silent street and sees all of the White Fang on their knees and facing him. "Now if you all stay like that then I can get away… and while we are at it, why are you like that?"
And then Jaune cast his gaze around and noticed several colourful figures standing at the edge of kneeling White Fang; sidekicks.
"Bugger." Jaune muttered under his breath as he quotes one of his favourite movie characters when he was caught trying to escape some cannibals. "I don't suppose that you guys are going to let me off with just a warning are you?" he asked hopefully.
"Nope." Said the small red dressed girl as she popped the 'p', Jaune just nodded in response, it was a fair answer after all and he couldn't really argue with it.
"Okay, then I am going to have to talk my way out of this like I usually do-" Weiss snorted "-Is anybody familiar with explosives?"
He asked it rhetorically but was shocked to see the 'nope' girl and a girl dressed in black lace both nod. "Okay, that's more than when I usually ask the question… but anyway, I have placed enough explosives in the truck to level this street, now I would much rather that-"
"Jaune Arc! It seems you evil has grown since the last time we met." Says a beautiful voice from above him on the roof of the truck as Jaune turns excitedly to see Pyrrha stood there with a frown on her gorgeous features.
"Pyrrha!"
"Hello again." She says sternly.
"How are you even more beautiful than when we last met?" Jaune asks nobody in particular as the colourful people all stare at him in some levels of disbelief. The one who was wearing yellow leather shared a look with the one that was wearing pink… pyjamas? He wasn't too sure. Meanwhile the one in black lace pulls out a book and starts to scribble in it quickly.
Pyrrha meanwhile tries to fight down the butterflies and the red that threatens to overcome her face, after all she has never lost a fight before so this should be easy right?
"Jeez, P-money looks like a tomato right now." Yang says to Blake who keeps scribbling.
"Y-you really think – Jaune! You can't just sa-say stuff… I-I-you look, uh that is you also look hand-" The invincible amazon warrior stumbles over her words until Weiss has had enough with the pathetic display happening in-front of her and yells to put a stop to it.
"PYRRHA!" The yell gets both of their attention as she stomps her foot. "Pull yourself together and remember where you are!"
"I'm sorry!"
"And you!" Jaune points at himself. "Yes you! Do you have even the slightest idea of who you are talking to?"
"Uh yeah, we went to Beacon together Weiss; how have you bee-"
"Not me you dunce! Pyrrha. Do. You. Know. Who. She. Is?"
"Um, she is Pyrrha? Her birthday is… the 27th of au – no September right? And I know that you work at the Goodwitch agency, I decided to do a little research on you, nothing to deep though." Pyrrha nodded in the background, a bright smile on her features.
"She graduated from both Sanctum and Beacon at the top of her class."
"Oh cool, so she was in your class. Good job, I heard hero courses were hard."
"She has won the Mistral regional tournament 4 times! In a row!"
"I-I don't follow sports... and I'm pretty sure I remember the bank guy telling me this, oh well; and I grew up in Ansel, so nothing to do with Mistral, quite the opposite actually, although a sister of mine did move to Argus if that helps?"
"It does not."
"Oh."
"But Pyrrha here is on the cover of almost every Pumpkin Pete's cereal in Remnant! Do you not know how big of a deal that is?"
"O-oh wow."
"Finally you see it, maybe there is hope for you after all."
Jaune then turns fully to Pyrrha. "Wow that is seriously awesome; nobody told me that and it never came up in the research, they all just said you were a rising hero star. I love that cereal and I guess that answers the question if you have ever done any modelling. Does that make you a super super-model then?"
Weiss is left with her jaw hanging open as she looks on in pure agony at the scene playing out in-front of her. The complete opposite to Jaune who is staring with pure admiration at Pyrrha, now he finally found out who the cereal girl was, he always just assumed she was a cartoon character.
"Look, not that it isn't great to see you Pyrrha, because it is, also I think you might be my nemesis? Honestly I don't know at this point or how you become a nemesis, do I need to interview for the position or something? But I have in my hand a lethal detonator and so I would like to leave with the truck and that way nobody will get hurt."
Pyrrha floats down off the top of the truck and lands in-front of the group of the still kneeling White Fang, who at this point are really confused about everything that is going on between the heroes and this would be villain. "Face it Jaune, I have brought an end to your villainy and you will be my prisoner, I shall tie you up and then lock you up until you are to answer for your crimes, but until that day I will stand watch over you to make sure you do not step out of line."
If Jaune was being honest; any other time that wouldn't be such a bad thing. On the other hand it was any other time so it was indeed a bad thing. Jaune shrugged and smiled as he held out his hands towards Pyrrha.
"You got me there." Pressing his fingers into his bracelets a massive dual concussive blast knocked Pyrrha back a good distance and Jaune also dropped a shock pellet he had fished out of his pocket while Pyrrha was talking about putting handcuffs on him. The electricity arced out across all of the heroes in the area as well as the White Fang members. It wasn't strong enough to hurt them all, just to knock everyone out long enough for him to get away.
He ran to the driver's side and climbed in quickly, the engine was still on and he knew how to drive a truck. He thought it would impress his parents if he got an important job as a wounded civilian transporter; he never did get a letter back from them and he was certain that he got the address of his dads agency correct.
The truck moved forward a short bit, not picking up the greatest speed there was but it was getting there, Jaune just needed to wait and then these chemicals would be no more. Then out of nowhere, suddenly the ground got further away from him as he was lifted into the air and he wisely decided to throw himself out of the truck before the ground got even further from him. That was when he saw an amazing sight; the short ginger woman with the pink pyjamas was holding the truck up in the air with one hand, static arcing out across her skin, Jaune gulped.
"Please try to refrain from using that level of electricity on Nora again in the future if you do try to escape, you have no idea how energetic she is going to be from now on." Said the soothing voice of the dark haired man wearing green silk?
"Anyone in here Renny?"
"No."
"Perfect. THUNDER THIGHSSSSSSS!" Nora yelled as she launched the truck into the sky.
Jaune watched as Nora launched the truck high into the stratosphere with awe, no matter what he made, there was no doubt in his mind that no science could account for that level of sheer strength. Although an argument could be made that since it was a mutation that the steady evolution of our species was the science, but that was for another time.
The rest of the girls then all gathered around Jaune as he smiled nervously at them all and Pyrrha gave him a pointed look and held out her hand and Jaune then pressed a few buttons and flicked some switches and then the truck exploded high up in the air causing Nora to let out a few ooohhhs and aahhhhs like she was watching a firework show.
"Well I guess you guys are in luck, I surrender." Jaune says cheerfully.
Meanwhile on a nearby rooftop Emerald and Mercury were watching the display down on the street as the sidekicks slapped some handcuff onto Jaune Arc and marched him away, with the Schnee girl yapping on about how he was a disappointment to society and a stain on the heroes good work and all that self-righteous shit that they always talked about.
"I would have just blown it up while it was still there."
"And how would you have survived the blast?"
"By being awesome."
"Why the fuck are we always paired together?"
"Because you like me."
"Not much of YOU to actually like."
"Oooh, low blow there Em, not that you haven't done that before…"
"Ugh."
"Familiar sounds to my ears."
"Let's just go tell Cinder that it all went to plan, honestly I have no clue why she hates Merlot."
"He's a bigger ass than I am."
"At least you recognise it."
"Hey I am always honest."
"And that's why I like you."
"And the sex is fantastic."
"I'm better.
"I won't argue with that babe."
The duo spared the retreating sidekicks one last glance before they ran and leapt to the next roof top, each of them trying to jump further than the other could; in love with the challenge they gave.
ALTERNATIVE TIMELINE (Remnant universe is the same but the flow of time is altered; Deena had to switch it away from the trunk, told her to tell me about this branch)
Jaune watched as Nora launched the truck high into the stratosphere with awe, no matter what he made, there was no doubt in his mind that no science could account for that level of sheer strength. Although an argument could be made that since it was a mutation that the steady evolution of our species was the science, but that was for another time.
Everyone gathered around as Jaune released the dead-mans-switch and a small flicker of light went off in the air as the truck exploded and Nora ooohhhed and aaahhhhed like a firework display.
Pyrrha placed her hands on her hips as she looked powerfully at Jaune who tried to step away from the group but was grabbed by Yang and held in place.
"Was that the best that you could do Jaune?" Pyrrha asked with a confident voice as she saw Jaune hang his head in shame.
'Sniff'
Pyrrha dropped the confident smirk as she looked across at Jaune as he started to cry while in Yang's grip, said hero in training then released him and backed away.
"Y-yes." Jaune stuttered out through the tears coming from his eyes and Pyrrha felt her heart break into pieces as she watched him slump into himself.
"O-oh, oh no it's okay." Pyrrha said quickly as she rushed to him and held her hand out to him, unsure of how to comfort a crying man and looking around at her fellow sidekicks who all shrugged and looked on with disbelief.
"Just hold him!" Nora hissed at her and Pyrrha then awkwardly wrapped her arms around Jaune's shoulders and pulled him in as he started to shake into her shoulder, she could feel his tears on her skin and she felt so hurt that Jaune was feeling this way.
"It's okay Jaune, uh you did really well – yeah, really good Jaune." Pyrrha tried to reassure as Jaune pulled back a little and Pyrrha watched as his attractive and handsome and beautiful features were scrunched up and he was looking incredibly sad.
"I did GOOD!" Jaune exclaimed as he then began to cry even harder and squeezed Pyrrha as hard as he could, which since she was a trained fighter was not as hard as she was now squeezing him. "N-no-nobody has 'hic' ever said I've done goooood…" Jaune wailed into her shoulder as Pyrrha stroked his back and hair murmuring into his ear reassuringly.
"It's okay, it's okay Jaune. I think you did really well. You almost had us actually; didn't he guys!?"
Not because it is relevant or anything but Ruby just wanted to rank what the most terrifying things in Remnant were for everyone: Salem, no more cookies, the Pyrrha glare, Yang taking away her weapon magazines, spiders.
Again it is NOT RELVANT.
"OH YEAH!" Ruby yelled out as she snapped the others out of their trance. "I mean look how many sidekicks it took to try and take you down, you are a truly tough villain to outsmart."
"Yes, we required a lot of intelligence to outsmart you." Ren quickly chimed in as Yang wrapped a hand around Weiss's mouth and Nora held her arms down by her sides to stop her waving them around. Blake stepped in-front of them to cover up the spectacle and nodded quickly and vigorously.
Jaune still leaned back into Pyrrha and hugged her tightly and firmly as the tears slowly subsided and he just grew more tired, Pyrrha held him through it all and occasionally she would feel the need to kiss his forehead or his hair, but she reasoned that it would be weird to do so without letting him know.
"So what do you think she is going to do with him?" Ruby whispered to Blake as they kept the big smiles on their faces whenever Jaune would look over at them, giving him a thumbs up every now and then as well.
"Probably take him back to the agency and keep him as a house-spouse, I don't know what her endgame is here but I'm not stopping her."
"No neither am I, just wanted to know what someone else was thinking."
I am indeed sorry about that timeline branch off, I fully thought that Brian was able to cover up the splits from the main flow stream, I'll have to take this up with Claire, more of these little snippets keep occurring, Deena can handle the progress of this one though, they practically write themselves.
I now realise it is really sad the AU is I did think it was kinda funny to start off with. Still keeping it in though; not canon to the story obviously.
Main story is a little short, sorry about that, but now maybe Jaune gets a chance to explain himself.
