(*Cues: A Boundless Life – Hatekani Inochi*)
The 5 of them charge at the Ursa. Jace elbows an Ursa and dodges a swipe from another. Jonas kicks his opponent in the stomach and uses his sword's flat end to smack it down. BJ leaps into the air, and while he runs, fires his D-revolver at another Ursa, finishing it with a headshot.
BJ: Gotcha!
Sonny takes out his Star SwordGun and begins firing it at 3 Ursa. He eventually runs out of ammo and uses the guitar's sword mode to slash his way through. Shelly uses her gigantic sword to block a swipe and ram into the Ursa before cleaving it into 2 pieces.
Meanwhile, Jonas swings his sword and impales it into an Ursa, which Yang uses the opportunity to step onto his sword and deliver a superman punch to the Ursa's head. Jonas withdraws and stabs it into the ground.
Jonas (Thinking): Damn, she sexy~❤️❤️❤️
Yang: (Laughs) Geeeez, you 2 couldn't hit the broad side of the ba...
Before she can finish her insult, a single strand of her hair falls in front of her face and lands onto the grass surface.
Yang: You...(closes her violet eyes, then opens them to reveal red, making the Ursai look at each other confusedly before she screams) You monster!
Yang's hair begins to glow as she rockets forward, unleashing a painful and devastating combo of flaming hits and blows on the offending Ursa, making it fly through several burning trees.
Jonas: Huh. Well, you don't see that every day.
He removes his sword from the ground and slashes an Ursa by the foot, causing it to roar in pain and collapse. Jonas, surprisingly, grabs the Ursa's other good foot and swings him around with superhuman-like strength, letting out a war cry.
Jace: What are you doing?!
Jonas continues to spin the Ursa around until he delivers the finishing word.
Jonas: SO LONG, GAY URSA!
A/N: I ain't homophobic! It just sounds funny!
Jonas lets go and sends the Ursa flying towards Yang.
Yang: What! You want some, too?!
Just as the Ursa was about to land on her, a whirling noise is heard and the monster makes a befuddled noise, falling down a second later to reveal a black-eared cat faunus, Blake Belladonna, with her gambol Shroud in the beast's back.
Yang pants in exhaustion while Blake recalls the weapon back to her hand, sheathing it on her back and smiling to the side. BJ whistles with impression.
BJ: Toasty!
Blake turns around and BJ gives a flirty smile.
BJ: Hey baby~
Blake blushes a bit, but shakes her head.
Yang: I could've taken him.
Jace: Save it for later. We gotta find those chess pieces
The scene suddenly changes to Weiss Schnee's predicament, deflecting the swipe from a Beowolf with her Myrtenaster and getting pushed back into the middle of the beastly circle. She holds out her sword as she goes through her dueling motions and practices.
Weiss: (in her head) Remember your training, Weiss. Head up, shoulders back, right foot forward — not that forward! — slow your breathing, wait for the right time to strike, and... (brings her rapier up, the revolver spinning) Now!
Weiss dashes forward with her loaded weapon at the Beowolfin front of her, just when Ruby suddenly appears between the two in a blur of rose petals and a swipe of her Crescent Rose scythe, landing a hit on the monster.
Ruby: Gotcha!
Weiss widens her eyes and screams as she quickly has to stop, swinging the sword in a random direction and creating a line of fire that sets a nearby tree ablaze, followed quickly by the rest of the forest around the clearing.
Ruby, distracted by Weiss' mess-up, is barely defended when the same Beowolf scratches at her weapon, knocking the younger girl into the heiress.
Ruby: Hey, watch it!
Weiss: Excuse me! You attacked out of turn! I could have killed you!
Ruby: You'll have to try a lot harder than that...
The duo wield their arms as the pack of Beowolves whine and growl around them. Ruby reloads her scythe just as a flaming tree falls near them.
Weiss: (grabbing Ruby's arm) We have to go!
She leads Ruby out of the blaze as it engulfs the grass and sets the Grimm to running back the way they came or suffering in the fire.
Ruby and Weiss stop a safe ways from the smoke and flames. Weiss leans over and pants as Ruby looks behind her.
Ruby: What was that?! That should've been easy!
Weiss: Well perhaps if you had exercised even the slightest amount of caution with the placement of your strikes, I wouldn't have set the forest on fire!
Ruby: (scoffs) What's that supposed to mean?
Weiss: I'm just surprised someone who talks so much would communicate so little during an encounter!
Ruby: Well, I'm sorry you need my help to win a fight. I'm just fine on my own!
Weiss: Well, congratulations on being the strongest child to sneak your way into . Bravo!
Weiss begins to walk off on her partner yet again. Ruby, with an agitated shriek, unfolds Crescent Rose, slices a tree down to the stump, refolds it back, and follows her partner as the tree crashes behind her. Neither notice the large dark feather floating onto the fallen trunk behind them.
(*End song if it's still going*)
From the forest, Yang, Blake and the 5 new hosts and step out into a clearing that reveals the circular stone temple, broken and decrepit but for the platforms around its inside, holding several black and gold objects.
Yang: Think this is it?
Jace: Appears so...
In response, Blake gives Jace and Yang an incredulous look and heads down the hill, her partner following. Behind them, BJ can be seen staring at a squirrel and growling at it.
Sonny: Sit, doggie!
The cattle faunus sits onto BJ.
BJ: THE HELL?!
Sonny: Good boy.
The rest of the group catch up as they walk across the floor and observe the items on each pedestal, now shown to be familiar shapes.
Blake: (looking at a black king, confused) Chess pieces?
Shelly: I'm guessing there's more to this introduction than we thought.
Yang: Some of them are missing. Looks like we weren't the first ones here.
Jonas: Well, I guess we should pick one.
BJ: Ooh! I call the bishop! Gimmie dat! Gimmie dat!
Ruby: (From afar) Heads uuuuuuuup!
Just as she's about to hit the ground...
Jaune: (Mario 64 burn sfx) TAHAHAHAHAAAAHH!
Jaune comes flying through the air and crashes into Ruby, knocking her off course and sending them both into a tree to the left of the group of 7.
Ruby: Ooooh, mama miaa~ (tiny Mario caps float around her head, eyes picture a swirl)
Jaune: Hey, Ruby...
Jaune was hanging upside down in a tree branch above her.
Suddenly, everyone turns their attention to a flying Ursa coming from the forest below, followed by a 'wheeeeeee' noise gradually getting louder as it reaches landing impact. A pink blast hits it in the back and crashes to the ground, depositing its rider.
Everyone's reaction: (MGS alert sound) !
Nora: YEEEEE-HAAAAW!
She rolls off of the creature's back, then gets up and groans in sadness.
Nora: Awww...it's broken.
Ren: Nora! Please…don't ever do that again.
He looks up again and notices a pink dotted outline of where his partner should be that Nora ran off again, and looks around frantically.
BJ: Man, that reminds me of li'l Lana.
Jonas: Li'l who?
BJ: (Shows him a picture) my little sister. She's a swan Faunus.
Now in the temple, Nora stares at a golden rook relic before snatching it.
Nora: Oooohh…I'm queen of the castle! I'm queen of the castle!
Ren: NORA!
Nora stops dancing with the rook on her head, then salutes, dropping the relic into her hand.
Nora: Coming, Ren!
Blake: Did that girl just ride in on an Ursa?
Yang: I…
Jonas: No need to explain. We get it, a'ight?
Just then, a screech is heard from the gang's right, and Pyrrha is sprinting, trying to evade a giant scorpion-like creature as it uproots entire trees in its chase. Pyrrha narrowly dodges it's pincers and keeps running.
Pyrrha: Jaune!
Jaune: Pyrrha!
However, the main attention was to the 5 teenagers as coloredlight began to radiate from them. Jace began to glow green, BJ began to glow navy blue, Shelly began to glow crimson red, Jonas began to glow grayish black, and Sonny began to glow yellow.
Yang: Um…why are you guys glowing?
Blake: Is there something wrong with your aura?
Ruby: (Stars in her eyes) Whoa…
Jace let out a dragon-like roar, dispersing the radiation into a green ring of light. Engulfed in white and green, he rushed towards Pyrrha like a meteorite, using the nearby debris to form giant balls. He then began to launch the projectiles with every kick he swung, causing them to all home onto the scorpion. They exploded on impact, causing the scorpion to screech.
Nora: Wow…
Ren: LOOK THERE!
They all looked at Jace, who had executed a giant leap and an acrobatic flip in mid-air before landing on the ground, carrying Pyrrha in a bridal style. However, there was something different about how he looked. He arose from his knee, donning a dark green spandex suit with golden linings, all under a large golden chest armour covering both the front and back of his torso. In addition, he had a black belt bearing a golden buckle around his waist that held a golden coin laser-engraved with a dragon's paw, along with a green helmet with an additional gold 'crown'. The helm he wore featured a black visor and a silver-engraved 'mouth', the theme bearing a dragon. Jace had successfully become the Dragon Ranger.
Jaune: So cool…
Just as Jaune began to speak, the branch he stood on broke as he plummets onto Ruby.
Ruby: OW!
Meanwhile, back at the scene, Dragon Ranger carries Pyrrha over to the remaining teens, letting her down onto the ground.
Pyrrha: W-Who are you?
Dragon Ranger: I'm Jace Lavender, also known as the Dragon Ranger.
Ruby fires Crescent Rose and charges at the oncoming Death Stalker. When the two meet, the Grimm swipes Ruby away and she is knocked back.
Ruby: Don't worry! I'm OK!
But it's proved to be wrong, as the Death Stalker begins to chase her. Ruby rushes towards Yang frantically, but a Nevermore caws above them, flapping it's wings and releasing lines of sharpened feathers with points that impale Ruby's cape and preventing her big sister from reaching her.
Yang: Ruby! Get out of there!
Ruby: (tugging on her cloak) I'm trying!
Jace sees it all happen, and he nods at the rest of his team. They all nod. BJ runs forth, taking out his Master SP License.
BJ: CHANGE STANDBY!
He faces it in front with the right hand and the left hand behind the device before pressing both triggers on the side and top.
BJ: EMERGENCY! DEKAMASTER!
He then is engulfed by blue and red police siren lights as he changes into Dekamaster. Shelly reaches into her pocket while running and flips the Shodophone open before changing it into brush mode.
Shelly: One Stroke, Imperial Report!
She hastily inscribes the fire kanji in the air. After that, she then presses the blue henshin/call-answer button. Suddenly, several red flakes began to swarm around her like blossoms and morphed her into ShinkenRed. Jonas withdraws Bull Riot out of its sheath, causing the hilt horns snap open. He then holds it down with the blade facing up.
Jonas: KNIGHT REINCARNATION!
He then thrusts it upward into the skies with the other fist held down in a ready position, turning into the Black Knight as the pieces of armour etches itself onto his body. Finally, Sonny takes out the Ninja StarBurger. He opens it up and inserts the activated StarNinger Shuriken before pressing a red-white button located on the side of the device.
"ZA CHENJI!" "Nin Ni-Nin! Nin NiNin Nin!"
Sonny: SHURIKEN CHANGE!
He then spins the shuriken, clamming up the device as a yellow star spirals around him before attaching to his face like ShinkenRed, morphing him into StarNinger. Dekamasterquickly takes out the D-Revolver and fires it at the Nevermore, while ShinkenRed uses her katana, the Shinkenmaru, to slash through the feathers and save Ruby. Black Knight then uses StarNinger as his footstool to perform a jump slash on the Death Stalker's tail, breaking it.
Black Knight: Sonny! Give us some cover fire!
StarNinger: No need to tell me twice, partner!
Sonny begins to open fire with the Star Sword-Gun, giving the 4 new rangers an opportunity to rendezvous with the rest.
ShinkenRed: You're safe now.
Ruby nods and embraces her sister.
Weiss: There's no sense in dilly-dallying! Our objective is right in front of us. (Pointing at the relics)
Ruby: She's right. Our mission is to grab an artifact and make it back to the cliffs. There's no point in fighting these things!
Dragon Ranger: Right!
They each grabbed a chess piece (RWBY picking a gold knight, JNPR picking a gold rook), while the 5 rangers grabbed their weapons. However, the Death Stalker's screech interrupts them again.
Black Knight: Come on guys! Let's get a move on! Go, go, go!
Ren: What he said!
The group goes forward with everyone following except for a smiling Yang. Blake stops to check on her partner.
Blake: What is it?
Yang stares at Jonas/Black Knight with hearts in her eyes as he watches guard for a few seconds before catching up.
Yang: Nothing…
(Scene transition)
In an abandoned series of structures as the Nevermore follows the group from the air, each of the teens take cover behind some of the stone blocks and pillars with their allies. The giant bird grimm perches on a high column and caws. However, Jaune spots the same Death Stalker and begins to run fearfully.
Jaune: RUUUUUUUN!
Dragon Ranger: Fire everything you've got!
Everyone obliges and begins to fire away while the 5 rangers hold off the giant scorpion. With the Death Stalker occupied, the eight teens race over the ancient stone bridge, not noticing the Nevermore closing in on them until it uses its giant wings to shatter the path right in the middle, forcing Ruby, Weiss, Yang, Nora, and Jaune closer to the central collection of columns and leaving Blake, Ren, and Pyrrha on the other side with the Death Stalker and its opponents. Ruby fires at the retreating Nevermore while Black Knight is beaten back by the scorpion, but he catches himself by clawing both his hands into the ground to slow himself down. He tilts his head up, lets out a breath, before reaching for Bull Riot and charging back into the fight.
Blake: It's tougher than it looks!
Dragon Ranger: Than it's time to call in reinforcements!
Everyone is confused by what Jace meant, but he wasn't wrong!
Dragon Ranger: I summon the Guardian Beast Dragon! Come, Caesar!
He took out a green, black, gold and silver knife, the Zyusouken, and put the hilt portion on his 'mouth', playing the summoning melody of Caesar.
Dekamaster: You got it! Murphy K9! Come here, buddy!
With his words, a white and black robotic police dog comes running towards him as he leaps into the dog's head, entering the cockpit.
Shelly: Lion Origami!
She then takes out a red and black pentagon and places it onto the ground. She then takes out the Shodophone in its brush mode.
Shelly: Origami big transformation!
She then proceeds to use the brush to write the 'big' kanji. With the command written, the origami enlarges. The pentagon, to everyone's surprise, transformed into a red robotic lion!
Black Knight: Heavy Starbeast GoTaurus!
Jonas raises his right hand into the air, open palmed. With his words, a black bull with gold details, a green gem on its forehead, red eyes and yellow horns summoned on where he was standing, causing the Death Stalker to hiss in fear.
StarNinger: (inserts OtomoNin Nin Shuriken into the weapon's slot) Who are you, wo-wow! Rodeomaru!
The ground begins to shake as the Rodeomaru arises, riding the 4-wheeled cattle-themed Bison King Buggy.
(*Cues: Go Go Power Rangers (Intro) – Aaron Waters*)
Soon enough, all 5 of the mecha stood, side by side and roared.
Ruby: WOW!
All 5 rangers then jumped into their mecha, which are the size of the Death Stalker.
Dragon Ranger: Alright guys! Let's help the girls knock this bird outta the sky!
Other 4 Rangers: RIGHT!
Elsewhere, while Team JNPR finally kills the Death Stalker, Yang is atop a pillar, firing shot after shot at the giant raven. She then has an idea: She jumps into the Nevermore's mouth and begins firing Ember Celica down its mouth.
Yang: I! HOPE! YOU'RE! HUNGRY!
She then leaps off of the bird, giving the zords the opportunity to deliver the final blow.
All 5 rangers: LET'S FINISH IT!
Caesar begins to fire missiles from its fingers, Murphy K9 transforms into the D-Bazooka and fires lasers from its barrels, GoTaurus fires lasers from its horns, eyes and the green gem on its forehead, Rodeomaru, riding the Bison King Buggy, fires gatling guns from the sides of the buggy and the Lion Origami transforms into its pentagon form with its front legs stretched out like a 'T', flying towards the Nevermore and slicing it into 2 clean halves while the rest of the lasers, bullets and missiles destroy the remaining pieces. The red lion then skids to a stop as the Nevermore explodes. The 5 rangers jump out of their mecha and land in front of the teams. And for the extra epicness at the end, the 5 of them replicate their respective roll call poses.
All 5 rangers: SPECIAL SENTAI! SUPERRANGER!
(*End song*)
(Transition back to Beacon Academy)
Ozpin: Russel Thrush, Cardin Winchester, Dove Bronzewing, Sky Lark. The 4 of you retrieved the black bishop pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as team CRDL, led by…Cardin Winchester!
The audience gives a wave of ovation, while the 4 students walk up the stage to take their places in front of the headmaster, their faces filling the screen.
Ozpin: Jaune Arc, Lie Ren, Pyrrha Nikos, Nora Valkyrie. The 4 of you retrieved the white rook pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team JNPR.
Amid the clapping, Nora laughs and gives Ren a hug.
Ozpin: Led by…Jaune Arc!
Jaune: Huh? Me?
Ozpin: Congratulations, young man.
Pyrrha grins and offers a friendly shoulder bump to Jaune, who chuckles nervously.
Ozpin: Blake Belladonna, Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Yang Xiao Long. (Motions over the 4 as they stand before him) The 4 of you retrieved the white knight pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team RWBY. Led by…Ruby Rose!
Weiss looks to her right, surprised. Ruby is shocked as Yang goes over to hug her sister.
Yang: I'm so proud of you!
Ozpin: And finally: Shelly Valentine, Jace Lavender, Buster Joe Fagner, Sonny Jones, Jonas Hei Niu. (Motions over the extraordinary 5 as they stand before him) The 5 of you, while you did not find the chess pieces, were able to prove your teamwork and unity today. Therefore, from this day forward, you will work together as Team JSSBJ. Led by…Jace Lavender!
The group high-fives each other.
Jace: Alright guys. Let's do it, yeah?
Shelly: Go ahead.
Jonas: Be my guest.
BJ: Totes!
Sonny: Come on, then!
They all put their hands in together.
All 5 of them: Hunters together! Heroes forever!
The 5 leave the stage, with Jonas thrusting his fist into the air like John Bender.
Ozpin: (amid the last round of cheers) It looks like things are shaping up to be an…interesting year.
