Neverland (Twilight) Status: Hiatus

I said I would never put this one on Hiatus but I'm left with no choice. I honestly lost interest and hopefully, I'll find that spark again. I'm sorry to all my readers. I'm so thankful for all the reviews, feedback, and support I received. If I can't find the inspiration to finish it, I'll probably write up a quick ending or detailed description of what was going to happen, or at least the plans I considered for the story.

Astalder (Meaning: Valiant One) (A LOTR, Thranduil Fanfiction)

I've yet to begin working on this one, so don't be confused if you can't find it. Nothing is posted yet. It will center around a character born in middle-earth. She will be half human (Easterling) and half elf. I feel like we don't see much on the east of middle-earth. All we know is Sauron has most of them on his side. So I want to write about GOOD people in the east who feel trapped there because of the hold sauron has on them. The story is also going to include the Blue Wizards! I wish there was more on them, so I'll have to make up most of it! Thranduil will probably not enter the story until later on. It isn't just a romance, but an andventure story as well (mostly centered on the protagonist and her life with the blue wizards).

Because I haven't posted the story, I'll go ahead and introduce bits and pieces of the plot and characters.

Characters:

Taliesyn; a young half easterling, half elfling. She is about 10 years old. Her parents were tracked down and killed by Sauron's henchman, leaving her an orphan.

The Blue Wizards; not much is known about them, but Tolkien did mention that they were sent to the east when the Istari were sent to middle-earth. He never clarified how they lived their lives, but he did mention possiblities. He claimed that they strayed from ther original path and instead formed cults and tended to delve into other forms of magic, and established magic worship in the east. But he also mentioned the possibility that they did indeed suceed in changing the hearts of the easterlings, and did rid the east of most of it's evil and played a big role in the east during the war of the ring. So, I'm going to combine those two theories.

Thranduil; The story will take place way before the hobbit, so Thranduil will have been king of Mirkwood for only a short time. According to the timeline, Thranduil became king sometime around T.A. 1000, when the Wizards were sent to Middle-earth. Taliesyn was born a few hundred years after this. Taliesyn will not meet Thranduil until she is a little over 500 or 600 years old.

Thranduil's Wife and Legolas; She will be deceased by the time Thranduil meets Taliesyn. I will have it that she died sometime during the 1090s, just after Legolas was born. I know Legolas' birth is unknown, but according to the online timeline, he was born in T.A. 1086, which is for the movie's I assume. So that is what I will be going with for Legolas.

Lore:

Magic; Magic in middle-earth is vastly different than it other fantasy fiction. There is a sort of limit on magic and who can use it. I'm going to explore more magic and the use of magic in my fanfiction. Magic will be something anyone can learn, but it just takes a very long time to master it, which is why not many humans can use it. And elves tend to limit their use. But magic in elves is very evident in the books. Elrond can use more than one form of magic, that much was known. So, I'm going to play more with magic than Tolkien did. Espeically with Taliesyn who will become a sort of mage, being taught by the Blue Wizards.

The Easterlings; there isn't much known about the easterlings, unfortunately. So, I'll have to make up most of their culture. I'll try to stay as close to what I think Tolkien would do. All we know is that they were a little more savage; perhaps like vikings, and the women were just as capable as the men; much like vikings. So, I'll probably weave a lot of viking traditions and beliefs into the Easterling culture.

Plot:

The plot will mostly stay canon based. Of course the beginning will be very AU, but I will try to stay true to the practices of the elves and people in middle-earth.
