It had been five months since the whole assembly of the Justice League, and the attempted invasion done by Steppenwolf. The heroes have all been doing their best to keep the world safe whilst helping out the others anyway they can.
Meanwhile, at a black ops location, a young woman is sitting in front of the desk of Amanda Waller. She had shoulder length brown hair, was about 5′7″ and had two blue eyes.
"So, Ms. Durand. What do you say?" Amanda Waller asked to her.
"I say you're a man down since Rick Flag didn't want anything to do with your Task Force X after that whole incident in Midway City. Can't say I blame him." Teresa Durand commented with a shrug. "You really want me to lead this team? I know that all of them mean just as much to you as the soldiers you're in charge of. What could you possibly say that would make me want to lead this Suicide Squad?"
"How about that I can get you what you've been searching for?" Waller asked, causing Teresa to freeze mentally, but physically shrugged it off.
"I...I don't know what you're talking about." Teresa stated.
"You've been on your own for most of your life, for as long as you can remember. And you were in the foster system, bouncing from home to home, and you've been climbing the ladder in the Government so that you can figure out who your parents are." Amanda stated and Teresa doesn't know how she learned that.
I mean, it's true, but how could she know?
"Say I was, what exactly are you proposing?" Teresa asked as she crossed her arms.
"All of my resources, I bet that I could help you find them a lot faster." Amanda informed her, shocking Teresa even further.
From what she's been told about Amanda Waller it's that she is an exceptionally intelligent and resourceful woman, especially in the fields of tactics and political science, not above using questionable and even outright amoral methods to achieve her planned goals.
She is a manipulative and devious leverager, priding herself in being able to frequently get people to act against their self-interests, even people as dangerous as the members of her Suicide Squad, with Waller gaining leverage over them, rather than simply attempting to out-fight them, using any of their exploitable weaknesses to her advantage.
But she's...nice enough to help Teresa find her parents?
Is it possible?
She's searched everywhere from when she was born to all of her foster homes to try and figure out who her parents were.
Maybe leading this Suicide Squad is worth it...
This is gonna come back and bite her in the ass: guaranteed.
But if one mission will give her the answers to her biggest question, it might be worth the risk.
"What's the mission?" Teresa sighed.
SUICIDE SQUAD (WIU CUT)
Robert DuBois, aka Bloodsport, was cleaning up the bathrooms and cafeteria to the prison and cleaning up as Amanda finished her discussion with Teresa and approached him from behind.
"Who the fuck is Bloodsport?" One of her operatives asked Amanda.
"Robert DuBois, a world class marksman. In his hands, anything's a deadly weapon." Amanda answered as she started to walk closer towards him as he scrubbed the floors. "His father was a mercenary who trained his son to kill from the moment he was born. In prison for putting Superman in the ICU with a Kryptonite bullet, followed by him fighting the Flash and Spider-Man. DuBois?"
"Same answer as last time." Robert stated as he kept working on the floor. "Piss off." He then scrubbed off what looked to be either meat or human flesh. "I'm not joining your goddamn Suicide Squad."
"We'll see." Amanda stated. "You have a visitor."
Robert goes to talk to his daughter whilst Amanda walked back to her office and saw Teresa was looking over her Suicide Squad.
Blackguard, Captain Boomerang, Spot, Harley Quinn, Savant, T.D.K., and the freaking Weasel.
Eyes on the prize. Just keeping her eyes on the prize.
And remember, they're an expendable group. Any of them die, they just die. Nobody'll miss any of them.
"Got any comments on your Taskforce?" Amanda asked Teresa sarcastically.
"Nothing that you'll want to hear, and not worth losing my chance of finding my answers." Teresa commented and knew she just had to work through it. She then gets up and goes to get debriefed on the rest of the mission.
Just as she left, Robert marched into the office with an angry look on his face. "To get me to lead your shite fucking mission, you're going to send my 14-year-old daughter to prison?!"
"No. Your daughter is 16. DuBois." Amanda informed him, causing DuBois to scoff and march back and forth. "You're a real father of the year."
"Fine. You know what, Tyla needs to grow up anyway, 'cause she's a little ditzy like her fucking mother." DuBois stated, not having a care in the world what'll happen to her. "So, a year in juvie, no fucking problem!"
"Not juvie." Amanda informed him. "Being 16 in the state of Louisiana means that under the right circumstances, she could be tried as an adult. And, if convicted, she could be sent right here to old Belle Reve. And in here, well, you never know what might happen to a frail young thing like that. Shames me to say that we have the highest mortality rate in the entire U.S. prison system."
You'd think that's due to the whole special ops thing she has on the side, but what do you think happens when you have a prison full of the worst criminals and villians from all over the world that get tossed in because of Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, Aquaman, Flash, hell, even Zatanna got in a few.
What do you think will happen? They'd team up and plan to escape and wreak vengeance on those that put them away?
DuBois then became very angry as he picked up a pen from a container of them, causing the whole room to turn into a frenzy as half of them screamed in fear while the other half all grab their weapons and aimed it at him while DuBois placed it almost against her neck.
Amanda doesn't even flinch throughout the entire ordeal.
"You're threatening my fucking daughter!" DuBois screamed into her face with a dozen weapons aimed at him.
"I'm protecting this country." Amanda retaliated, still with her calming voice. "Everyone stand down."
"Miss Waller, I-"
"STAND DOWN!" Amanda screamed at the top of her lungs to all of them and they did what she asked. "I wouldn't go to such extreme measures..."
"Oh, extreme?" DuBois asked, keeping the pen just on her neck. "Yeah, a little extreme."
"...if this mission weren't important than you could possibly imagine." Amanda finished her sentence.
"Fuck your mission." DuBois stated.
"You have the military experience necessary, and everything in your psychological profile tells me you have the makings of a leader." Amanda continued on, ignoring all of his comments.
"No, I'm no fucking leader!" DuBois stated.
"Then I'll make you one." Amanda stated. "Are you in or out?" DuBois then thought for a minute and realized she isn't even giving him much of a choice and then backed away, putting the pen down. "Good. Let's meet your team."
Amanda then leads DuBois out of the control room and towards the prison cells.
"She was gonna kill his kid?" The main man of the control room asked in shock to the other two women in the room who had no idea how to respond.
"Each member of this team has been chosen for his or her own completely unique set of abilities." Amanda tells DuBois as they walk through the prison cells. The first cell is already opened and the man standing there was someone already standing at attention. "This is Christopher Smith, known as Peacemaker. In his hands, anything is a deadly weapon. His father was a soldier who trained him how to kill from the minute he was born."
That whole comment gave DuBois a moment of pause, no idea what she's talking about 'unique set of skills' with this guy.
"Are you having a laugh?" DuBois asked of her.
"What?" Amanda asked, not understanding what he means.
"You just said that each member is chosen for their abilities. He does exactly what I do." DuBois stated.
"But better." Peacemaker stated as he exited the cell and followed Amanda.
"I always hit my targets dead center." DuBois stated.
"I hit them more in the center." Peacemaker replies as they head down the stairs.
"Well, you can't hit something more in the center." DuBois stated as they passed a cell with a hulking man wearing an armor with a rhino horn who tried to break out.
"I use smaller bullets." Peacemaker explains. "They go inside your bullet holes without even touching the side."
"This is your next member." Amanda said as they come to another cell and meet a man who's just lying about in his cell. "His name's Herman Schultz. AKA, the Shocker."
"Shocker?" Peacemaker asked.
"From a young age, Schultz turned to a life of crime however, he soon realized he wasn't particularly good at it, having been arrested several times." Amanda explained his early life to them.
"And you want him on this team?" DuBois didn't see how he would be useful.
"When Herman was arrested by Spider-Man, he was sent to the prison workshop, where he used the resources around him to project and build gauntlets that sent out shock waves which was useful for escapes and opening safes as well, giving himself a one-up on the authorities. During his first outing, he ran into and defeated Spider-Man. He later came back and beat him, which is why he's here."
"So you want me on the same mission that sent my buddy Fred Myers back to down under?" Herman asked Amanda.
"You know the deal, Herman." Amanda stated and walked off.
"Yeah, doesn't mean I like it." Herman stated as he and the others were lead to a bigger cell, just as big as the Rhino guy.
"Next up is King Shark." Amanda introduced them as she opened the door and the others freaked out when they saw a gigantic anamorphic shark reading a book upside down wearing only a pair of pants.
"Holy shit!" Peacemaker cried.
"What the fuck!?" DuBois asked.
"Motherfucker!" Herman shrieked when he saw the shark. "What the hell is this thing?"
"Some people claim that Nanaue is a descendant of an ancient shark god." Amanda explained to them what they were looking at.
"He looks like proof we should stop polluting the waters." Herman commented as he looked at the shark's fins on his neck.
"Whatever you think of him, he's strong and deadly." Amanda tells them.
"Does it talk?" DuBois asks.
"Book read." Nanaue said as he stood up and continued to read the book.
"Wow." DuBois chuckled at his attempt to read.
"Your books upside down." Peacemaker informed him and turned to the other two. "See that? He's pretending to read a book."
"Better than my old buddy Aleksei." Herman commented. "He doesn't even attempt."
"So smart, me. Enjoy book so much." Nanaue told them.
"Yeah, you do that, buddy." Herman chuckled as he gave the shark a bump on the shoulder...or what he thinks should be the shoulder.
"I would be a mite careful around him, as he's developed a taste for human meat." Amanda warned the boys as she opened the door to the woman side of the prison.
"What?" All of them asked after hearing that and just continued to follow her.
"Next we have Cleo Cazo, Ratcatcher 2." Amanda said as the women all cheered at the sight of the four boys.
"What, we couldn't afford Ratcatcher 1?" Peacemaker asked her as they made it to a cell where they saw a woman was sleeping still.
"He's dead, this is his daughter." Amanda explains. "Cazo, will you be joining us?"
"I just woke up." Cleo groaned out. "I don't function well early in the morning."
"My deepest apologies for disturbing you." Amanda said sarcastically as she just slammed her hand on the glass. "Get your ass up!"
That woke her up and got her out of bed quickly where they took notice of the rat that was in her hair.
"oh, no way!" DuBois sated. "That thing's not coming with us."
"She controls rats." Amanda informed him as she lead them down the halls.
"I know, I caught that." DuBois stated as he followed. "It's a disgusting superpower."
"This is Sebastian." Cleo introduced them to the rat as she rubbed her eyes. "Say hello, Sebastian."
The rat then reached out of her shoulder and raised his hand towards them.
"I'm not shakin' the rat's hand." DuBois promised.
"This is Yuriko Watanabe." Amanda introduced them to a woman with short raven black hair who was just sitting in her cell looking down at the floor
"As a child, Yuriko was inspired to join the police by her grandfather, Kenneth Watanabe, who received the NYPD Medal of Honor. Her father was an officer as well, but when she was serving in the army, he was convicted of accepting bribes." Amanda tells the others of her life while opening the doors for her to leave. "Later in life, Yuriko became an NYPD captain and supporter of Spider-Man who investigated a Gang War between the Maggia and Mister Negative. After a while, she was cornered by the Hammerhead gang, and her entire team was murdered, that caused her to go on a rampage and almost murdered him on live television, but was stopped by Spider-Man."
"What makes this one so special?" Peacemaker wondered.
"She created a suit that uses Mr. Fear's Fear Gas and tentacles that are elastic to tangle her opponents." Amanda informed them as she lead the team to the metahuman wing. "Put in here by Spider-Man, the other Spider-Man, and that magician."
"Okay, well, that's useful." DuBois scoffed.
"Be careful. Otherwise you might not survive this mission." Yuri warned him.
"And finally, we have Abner Krill." Amanda tells them and they see a man who has a giant collar around his neck.
"What that around his neck?" DuBois asked.
"Power dampener." Amanda explains to them. "They call him the Polka Dot Man."
Peacemaker then scoffed at hearing that. "Polka Dot Man. What, he throws polka dots at people?" He then got no response from anyone and then looked to Amanda. "Wait, does he? He does."
"Hey, Polka Dot Man, I was hoping you'd entertain my kid's birthday party." One of the other prisoners mocked the man who looked almost ashamed of the reminder.
"These are soldiers?" DuBois asks.
"We need to debrief." Amanda tells everyone and has them all follow.
Herman was right behind all of them when he stopped and saw a cell that was holding what looked to be a ferret that was licking the glass, but stopped when he noticed Herman.
"What's this world coming to?" Herman asked himself as he followed the others.
