The team all ran off in all opposite directions as Starro raised his (possible) arm and released a thousand of the tiny starfish they saw that were attached to the people inside his armpit as they rained down from the skies and attached to everyone they could.
However, Cleo discovered they can't attach to them with their faces covered when she placed on her gas mask.
"Cover your faces!" Cleo cried out to everyone as half of their faces were already covered and Teresa picked up one of the downed soldiers helmets and placed it over her face.
Shocker was shooting them down with blasts of air as they come close, even though he still had his mask. Harley just put her arm up to keep the stars away and Nanaue was okay because the stars couldn't fit on his face.
They all looked and saw that all of the soldiers were wiped out within seconds of his release.
"Oh my god." Teresa whispered in shock at what she just saw.
Yuri then looked and saw some of them were moving. "Guys?"
Abner started panting as he backed away and walked into Herman.
"This city is mine." The general said as Starro then let out an ear piercing moan before he started cartwheeling and rolling off into the city.
SQUAD CUT (SUICIDE WIU)
Teresa looked completely shocked at what she was seeing.
Because currently they're on an island, in the ruins of an destroyed facility, watching as an army of starfish zombies being led by a giant starfish from space.
Well, at least the mission wasn't a complete bore.
"Task Force X, you there?" Waller called into them.
"Uh...physically? Yes. Mentally? I'll get back to you on that." Teresa stated, trying to regain her sanity.
"Well, it appears whatever signal jammers we're blocking our communication were in the building you just demolished." Waller reported to her.
"Yeah, that's all well and good, but we have a slight problem here." Teresa stated.
"It's Project Starfish, Miss Waller." Cleo reported in. "It's headed to the city, and I think it wants to feed on as many people as possible."
The starfish was doing exactly that and crushing everything it's feet (or whatever it was on) could get ahold of.
"Not our problem." Waller informed them. "If you've destroyed Jotunheim and the records within, you achieved the objective. Corto Maltese is no longer a U.S. ally. If anything, the government will consider fomenting disruption in a hostile nation a positive development."
Teresa couldn't believe what she was hearing as a dozen hundred people were getting murdered and turned into expansions of Starro.
She then turned away and knew she couldn't defy what Waller said and began walking away. But as she did, she heard the screeching from Starro and the cries from the innocent people...after hearing all of that, she didn't care about her answers anymore.
Teresa pulled out her pistol and walked off towards the danger.
"Where you going?" Yuri asked her.
"To kill Patrick Star." Teresa stated and marched off.
Cleo then smiled and ran off to join her. "If you're going, I wanna join."
"She can kill you. She can't kill me." Teresa reminded her.
"You're willing to risk your life, I'm right beside you." Cleo promises.
"I'm with you, too." Yuri stated as she ran over. If they're willing to risk their lives (or at least their heads) to stop this thing, so is she.
"Wrath, Ratcatcher, Durand! Turn back around now!" Waller demanded them all.
"Where go, friends?" Nanaue asked as he waddles his way over to them.
"Nanaue!"
Harley then looked down at the javelin with a smile. "I know what I'm carrying the javelin for." She then marched off and left Herman and Abner.
Herman sighed as he puts his gauntlets to full capacity and walked away and looked back to Abner. "I've got nothing better to do." He shrugged as he walked off.
Abner then looked and saw he was the only one left and just ran after them all.
"Turn around, now!" Waller demanded of them. "Open it."
"Ms. Waller, I-"
"Open it!" Waller demanded as they opened the bomb case. "What are you doing, Task Force X?!" She then reached down to blow Yuri's explosive. "Turn around now, god dammit!" None of them were budging and continued to march off into the city, willing to put their lives on the line. "You dumb pieces of shit! This is your last warning!"
Waller then reached down to pull the trigger when she was smacked in the head by one of her own workers.
"Oh, my god! What did you do?!" John cried.
"All those people." She stated to him. "Little kids."
The others then got back to position to help the team the best they could.
"Task Force X, the creature is heading to Calle Principal. Avoid Avenida Medrano."
"So your clearest path is Calle Aguero." Jeff reported.
"Copy that." Teresa reported in as they watched the starfish March through several buildings.
They then all began to race off to meet the Conqueror at the location and saw everyone run away screaming.
Teresa smiled as she looked to Shocker. "Raise the volume."
Herman smiled under the mask as he raised his gauntlets high in order to charge his gauntlets as Starro approached and he immediately, that was able to throw him off balance.
But then Starro was able to regain his balance and a swarm of infected came in from behind them.
Teresa looked around and saw they needed to divide and conquer. "Watanabe! Schultz! Harley! Keep those infected off our backs!"
Yuri, Herman, and Harley looked back and saw the swarm coming for them.
"Got it!" Yuri promised as the women both race at the crowd and Yuri used her cloth to throw the people at one another and Harley used the javelin to stab them. Herman then charged his gauntlets and sent two giant quakes that sent the swarm flying.
Teresa saw they were working and turned to the others. "Nanaue! The monster is nom nom!"
Nanaue looked shocked as he looked to the starfish and back to Teresa. "Monster nom nom?"
"Yes!" Teresa promised.
Nanaue wasted no time to run at the beast and leaped off of a car and landed on his arm and hit a chunk out of it.
Teresa then looked and saw the last one not doing anything was Polka Dot Man. "Abner, you know who that is?"
Abner looked very confused as to what she's talking about. "What?"
"It's your mom!" Teresa cried out to him.
Abner then looked out from his hiding space and instead of Starro the Conqueror, he saw Abigale Krill.
Abner then walked out of his hiding spot and opened his cases on his wrists and threw the polka dots at her leg, causing the flesh to melt off and the creature to cry in pain, as well as everyone else.
Teresa put it into her mind that this thing has a hive mind. Taking down the main one'll take down the rest of them.
Abner looked happy at what he's accomplished. "I'm a superhero!" He cried in happiness as he looked to Teresa who gave him a smile and nod of approval. "I'm a motherfucking super-"
Just before he could finish that, he's crushed by the palm of Starro, causing Teresa to gasp and cover her mouth. Starro then wrapped Nanaue in his tentacles in his arms and tossed him in the building.
Yuri and Harley kept working on the swarm as they made their way towards them, and Herman's been reduced to just punching the swarm as his gauntlets are running low on charge.
Teresa was able to hold her own as she used the last of her bullets to shoot the starfish point blank, seeing that as the weak spot of them and grabbed ahold of one of them and used the wall of the building to run rand spin before kicking three other infected.
Cleo was raising her wand up into the air but missed the arm coming straight her that only Herman noticed. Working fast, Herman used a bit of energy of his gauntlets to shove her out of the way before she could get hit.
The team all then backed up and all ended back-to-back of one another.
"Anyone got anymore bright ideas?" Herman asked as he aimed his gauntlets at them. But he had at least one good blast left in each of them.
"This city. Is. Mine!" One for the infected informed them.
"This city isn't yours." Cleo stated as she got back up from the ground and raised her wand. "This city isn't ours. This city is theirs!"
They all then heard what sounded like scurrying and saw an entire swarm of rats coming at them.
"Rats. Why'd it have to be rats?" Teresa questioned.
Every rat of Corto Maltese came running at them and attached the infected ones and then began to run up the feet of Starro. And it's actually working.
"Is...is this really happening?" Yuri asked Teresa.
"Honestly? I'm embracing the insanity." Teresa stated.
"That's the way to live!" Harley cheered her friend on.
Herman then looked and saw a small plank formation that was nearby, and it'd lead directly up to Starro, and he turned to face Harley. "I think I know how to end this."
"How?" Harley asked him.
"Come with me." Harley asked of her, and they ran off towards the rubble.
Harley climbed on top of it and Herman went underneath it and aimed above his head. Starro was trying his best to shake off the army of rats that continuously climbed up his feet until it looked directly down at them.
Herman then used all of the power of his gauntlets to send Harley flying off into the air and she understood midflight what's he needed to do and raised the javelin to pierce through the eye and landed inside, as well as the rubble she used to make it up, and a thousand rats that began to bite their way through the monster.
Outside, the monster was stumbling around, finally losing its sight and all the infected were waddling around, just as lost as the main one.
"I was happy." Starro informed them. "Floating, staring at the stars."
"Dude, you just destroyed a whole town and murdered who knows how many." Herman informed him. "We feel no sympathy."
They then watched as the starfish fell over and crushed one final building as all the infected fell dead. Harley then gasped as she climbed out of the eye.
Teresa sighed in relief as Harley was probably her favorite of the bunch and walked over to help her down.
"Whoo! Thanks." Harley thanked her friend as Teresa knew Waller's going to kill all of them for their treason.
They were criminals, but they just saved the world. They deserve a second chance.
Seeing it's the right thing to do, Teresa used her tech and sent everything from the drive to her private server somewhere that'll never be discovered and sends an attachment for some of it to Waller.
"Yeah, that's a taste of what I've got on the drive, Waller." Teresa informed her. "Now, if anyone of these good people die, or DuBois' daughter sees the inside of a prison, it goes public. But if you allow them to go free, it never sees the light of day."
"You drive a hard bargain, Durand." Waller informed her. "You've got a deal."
"Hey, and speaking of deals, we've still got a deal." Teresa reminded Waller. "I lead your mission; I completed the objective. I expect you to hold up your end of the bargain."
"Sorry. Can't." Waller broke to her.
"What? Why the fuck not!?" Teresa asked her.
"Because I already found them." Waller informed her.
Teresa suddenly froze and had no idea what to say to that. "What?"
Waller looked at her computer that was showing a picture of a baby Teresa being held by a woman on the day of her birth.
"I found them." Waller promises. "I told you. The second you left for the mission, I had my men look into it. Turns out you're in the family business. You couldn't find them because they were the greatest CIA Agents the world ever saw."
Teresa was shocked to hear she was doing exactly what her parents were up to and just stood in silence.
"I'm sending all of their files, and anything related to them to your place. Should be there by tomorrow. Possibly by the time you're there." Waller said and hung up on her.
Harley looked and saw the face on Teresa. "Everything okay?"
"I...I'm about to learn who I am." Teresa tells Harley with a smile and tears filled her eyes.
Cleo then looked and saw as Nanaue groaned and stumbled towards them and she ran to hug him.
Teresa let's a few tears out as she was happy that she's about to get answers. But then she knew these people needed a small setup and looked to Harley.
"You know, you're gonna need a place to stay. And someone to make sure you don't do anything stupid." Teresa tells Harley.
Harley looked to Teresa, not understating what she's saying.
"You want to hang at my place for a bit?" Teresa asked.
"You want me to stay with you?" Harley asked.
"Yeah." Teresa said as she bumped Harley's shoulder with her fist. "You're...honestly the closest thing I have to a friend."
Harley then smiled and leaned on the javelin. "You think you can put up with me?"
"Let's find out." Teresa dared as Herman approached.
"Hey, our rides here." Herman informed them as they looked and saw a helicopter approach.
"Thanks, Milton." Harley said to him.
"That's...not my name." Herman informed her as they walked towards the helicopter.
"What?" Harley asked in confusion. "What are you talking about? We just had a whole conversation for like three hours on how your names Milton!"
"No, we didn't." Herman stated as everyone walked towards the helicopter.
"Nom nom?" Nanaue asked as he looked to one of the dead infected.
"Really? That's where your mind is right now?" Yuri asked him as she was walking with her mask off.
"No." Nanaue stated as they kept walking. "That nom nom, though."
"No, it's not nom nom." Cleo broke to him.
Nanaue then looked and was about to point to another when all of them got sick of it. "No!"
They all then boarded the helicopter and began to make their way off the island and off to their lives wherever they wish to go.
Teresa leans back and sighed as she thinks of who her parents are going to be. Smiling, she felt Sebastian coming up and lied down on her knee and scratched his back.
