Iris was back to work at Jitters, taking in everything she was told by Spider-Man, about a war that's going on underneath everyone's noses, which makes her wonder if she should be writing about them.
"You okay, Iris?" Barry asked her, seeing Iris' lost in her mind.
"Sorry. Just thinking of my blog." Iris apologizes to her friend and gets back to work. "Do you think what I'm doing is important?"
Barry saw he needed to choose his next words very carefully, no idea if this was a test on him or not. "Do you not think it's important anymore?"
"Well...I thought it was, but then...I wondered if what I'm doing is gonna cause more problems." Iris explained to him as she carried a tray to the counter.
"Well, I can see that. A little." Barry guessed when his phone went off and saw it was Joe. "Hey, Joe. Yeah, I'll be right there." He hung up and looked over to Iris. "Gotta go, we'll continue this conversation later if you want."
"Sure." Iris guessed as Barry left Jitters.
"Iris." A voice called, and Iris looked to see Flash Thompson walking in. "No time no see."
"Eugene." Iris was shocked to see him since they haven't seen each other since high school. "Wow. You look great."
"Yeah, I keep in shape. Got some help from some top billionaires, got some scientists looking over me." Flash said with a smile. "Been living the high life for a while. Got myself a nice place in Keystone. You should stop by sometime."
"So, can I get you a drink?" Iris asked.
"No, I came to see you." Flash said as he approached her. "I've found your blog on Spider-Man and his amazing friends. Why do you write about these freaks?"
"People say they're heroes." Iris stated.
"Yeah? Well, Spider-Man isn't much of a leader, considering I heard he took a beating and was rescued by some nobody. You should wrote about that." Flash scoffed and walked a little too close for Iris. "Do you know where anyone can find them?"
"No clue." Iris stated. "So, if you're not gonna order anything, I need to get back to work."
"Iris." Someone called, seeing her coworker nod to the screen in the café and saw there was a warrant out for Flash's arrest.
"You know, I should send a text to my dad, he's picking me up after work." Iris said as she reached for her phone and Flash noticed the tv and turned to Iris.
"Phone, Iris. Now!" Flash snarled, Iris watching as his eyes went wide and sharp, and his teeth becoming sharp with a snarl.
Iris complied and handed her phone over, and Iris then watched as his fist was covered in black goo and crushed her phone. His goo, eyes, and teeth then went away and his face returned to normal as he then reached into his pocket, revealing a whole roll for hundreds.
"Sorry. For the damage." Flash apologizes as he dropped the money in the tip jar. "We'll pick this up some other time."
Back in STAR Labs, the team were looking through all of the data that Peter has collected over the years on the Symbiote.
"Why can't any alien just be a nice creepy looking creature looking for a phone?" Cisco asked as he watched the goo ooze around its container.
"Even then, I wouldn't go near it." Jennifer commented with a shutter. "E.T. creeped me out as a kid."
"Really?" Bette asked.
"He reminded me of my grandfather." Jennifer explained.
"I don't wanna know." Johnny stopped her from explaining any further.
"According to the data here, the symbiotic creature is indeed vulnerable to sonic vibrations over 4,000 hertz is damaging to the creature." Wells said to the team as they looked over the data.
"As well as electrical currents and fire." Tess added on.
"Ooh, that I can work with." Johnny commented with a grin.
"Uh, guys, what's this?" Caitlin asked as she showed her tablet and they saw it was an alert from Iris' blog.
"In case you're reading this
I have info about someone you're looking for. He was here. You know how to find me."
"What does that mean?" Susan asked.
"Oh, boy." Peter sighed and saw he needs to see what this is about.
Iris waited for Peter to arrive after closing down shop, she was worried he might not show when he dropped down from the ceiling.
"Starting to think you wouldn't show." Iris said with a smile.
"Don't make this a habit. I'm not gonna always be on your beck and call." Peter warned her. "What happened?"
"This guy, Flash Thompson," Iris explains what happened, "he came in-"
"Are you hurt?" Peter asked, shocked that she encountered Eugene.
"Cop's daughter. I can handle myself." Iris promised as she got up.
"Not against this guy." Peter stated.
"I knew him when we were kids, he didn't want to hurt me, he was looking for information about you." Iris stated. "Said he was working for some billionaire who had some scientist in town with him."
"Scientist?" Peter questioned, wondering why Reed would have another scientist looking after Thompson.
Then that's when he had a sudden idea as there actually was someone out there who understood the Symbiote. But it can't be him, considering that he's supposed to still be locked up in Iron Heights.
"He wanted information on where he could find where you hand your capes." Iris answered him.
"You know where he could've gone?" Peter wondered.
"Said he was getting some big paydays, left me a big tip after he crushed my phone." Iris informed him. "But I don't know where."
"I might have a few ideas." Peter said as he shot a web to leave.
"Wait." Iris stopped him. "His hand. It transformed. Like, it was covered in goo. Made him stronger. He's like you and your friends, isn't he?"
"It's an alien parasite." Peter informed her. "Something that latched onto me years ago, and I've been looking for ways to annihilate it ever since. But now, because of this war, it's on the loose again. And because of you writing about us, you might've have officially put yourself in the crosshairs."
"What if I took down the blog?" Iris asked.
"No point in it now. You're on his radar." Peter sighed and knew there was nothing they could do to stop Reed to keep snooping around Iris if Thompson reported where he got a lead. "Hope it was worth it." He then turned around to face her. "And don't think about approaching him. That creature is dangerous. Unpredictable. Thomson thinks he's in control, but it's a matter of time before that creature takes over his mind and starts controlling him."
There was a knock and Iris saw it was a police escort. "That's for me. My boyfriend insisted. I have to..." she then turned around and saw Peter was already gone. "And I thought Batman was the only one who did that."
Flash terrines to the base of operations of his and walked up to a computer base and saw the one who helped him control the creature.
Doctor Otto Octavius.
"That was an interesting development." Otto informed Flash as he was watching the fight between him and Peter, up to the point where Jessica intervened.
"Yeah, wasn't that fun." Flash stated as he crossed his arms. "What am I supposed to do about that shocking fingers of hers?"
"Yes. It seems this spider has the secondary power of bio-electricity." Otto took notice of that as well. "And sends out the same electrical current that harms the Symbiote on a molecule level."
"How do I fight against it?" Flash asked.
"My advice? Avoid her attacks." Otto stated, getting a message from his rescuer. "Phase 2 is underway."
"Perfect." Flash said with a grin. "Time to go Round 2 against Parker."
Peter returned to Star labs and explained to the team what Iris told them and what he told her.
"You really think Reed will go after her if he figures she might know something?" Johnny asked.
"Wouldn't put it against him." Sue agreed with Peter.
"Wow, can't believe there's someone who's worse than my old captors." Jessica commented, surprised at what's happening.
That's when they got a call and see it was Yuri, Peter quickly answered it. "What's happening?"
"Hulking black Spider-Man terrorizing downtown." Yuri recapped her recent reports. "Any ideas why?"
"Don't go after it, Yuri." Peter warned her and looked to his team. "We'll handle it."
Venom was currently terrorizing the streets as bystanders ran for cover. Venom was starting to take more and more control over Flash, without even realizing it.
On a rooftop, the team was watching the terror and had no idea what they were going to do if they can't get Venom out of the way.
"We can't do this in the shadows." Susan regretted to say.
"You guys really think it's a good time for the people to know about us?" Ben asked.
"I'm pretty sure it's come to a now-or-never situation." Johnny said as he watched Venom about to devour a pedestrian.
Peter quickly leaped down and kicked him in the face, sending Venom flying backwards.
"Spider-Man." Venom snarled at the sight. "We have missed you."
Peter looked over and saw the pedestrian. "What's your name?"
"Uh, Barry, sir." Barry Allen greeted the hero.
"Hi, Barry. Now, run, Barry, run." Peter said as he leaped and kicked Venom back.
Barry did just that and ran off from the hero and villain fight. Just as they predicted, there were a few from the several story buildings and inside shops recording the fight with their phones.
"Millennials." Peter whispered in scoff before trying to appeal to Flash. "Eugene. You have got to fight it. That Symbiote is controlling you. Corrupting your brain. You have to lose it!"
"Never!" Venom/Flash cried as he shot his arms and Peter dodged two attacks, only for the third to grab him at the neck and slam him into the ground.
Before Venom could get in another attack, Johnny flew in, revealing himself to the world. He came and scorched off the vine attached to Peter's neck and saved his friend.
"I don't think your ex took the breakup very well." Johnny said jokingly.
"Sad to say technically that's true." Peter said as he got back up.
Venom regained his strength and was about to charge at the two heroes when a tow truck was sent flying down the street, and Peter immediately tackled Johnny (both suits being fireproof) and they dodged it as it took Venom and smacked him into the side of a building.
Looking back, they saw it came from Ben who came running past and rolled his fist back. "Hey, jock! It's clobbering time!" He cried as before Venom could move the truck, he punched through the truck, shattering it and, in the process, sending Venom flying through several buildings.
"Caused enough damage?" Susan asked as he came out of her invisible form.
"It isn't looking like it." Jessica said as she swung down and they saw Venom wasn't fazed by the attack.
Venom got back up, and started to actually grow in size, and change its color in the process to dark green.
"That's a new one." Peter commented on what he's seeing.
"What's the plan, Parker?" Wells asked from Star Labs with Tess, Cisco, and Caitlin.
"Remember his weaknesses." Peter reminded them. "Torch, scorch him as much as you can. Hulk, Thing, you're on sonic vibrations."
"How do we cause vibrations?" Ben asked.
"Like this." Jennifer said with a smile as she raised both his hands and clapped, sending a giant shockwave that shattered the glass from several buildings and cars, following the screech from venom as the vibration was destabilizing him.
"That's it. Keep it going." Peter said as he leaped in and pulled out his taser webs and shot two webs that electrocuted him, causing both Flash and Venom to scream.
That also worked for a second before it was followed by the Venom sending a giant attack that latched onto Peter's neck using his tongue and sent him flying into another building.
"There is so much wrong here!" Peter cried as he tried to pry the tongue off of himself.
"I've got ya back, Webs!" Johnny cried as he blasted Venom's tongue, freeing Peter.
"Webs?" Peter questioned on the nickname.
"What? Felt appropriate." Johnny shrugged and flew off to fight.
Peter then sensed something and looked to see something familiar climbing off the wall. "Now you look familiar." He muttered to himself as he noticed the robot started to retreat.
The small sphere with four mechanical arms tried its best to escape undetected when it was infused in a forcefield, followed by being clobbered by Peter who crushed it.
"Now, who do I know that builds incredible tech, and has a thing for tentacles?" Peter asked as he looked into the camera.
"Spider-Man. Been a long time, hasn't it?" The unmistakable voice of Doctor Otto Octavius greeted the hero.
"Dr. Octopus. Never took you to be a lackey for Reed Richards." Peter snarled at the camera. "What were you thinking releasing the Symbiote?"
"All part of the plan. But I'll admit, never thought you would release your heroes on the city so soon." Otto confessed to him.
"Yeah, well, you should know after all these years, I'm full of surprises." Peter stated as he punched through the screen, destroying the screen.
Thing came up behind Venom and brought up two cars he was wearing over his fists and punched Venom with a sucker punch, sending him flying.
Jennifer had a thought and punched the ground, lifting a huge part of the ground up and threw it at Venom. But this time Venom leaped and grabbed onto Jennifer, staring to suck her in.
"She-Hulk!" Peter cried as he looked around and got an idea. "Cisco, Wells, Caitlin, Tess, can you get into these cars? Hack their radios?"
"Strange times for a tune change, dude." Cisco commented as they were watching the fight from STAR LABS.
"No, listen, Venom's frequency. Can you broadcast it to the rush hour traffic?" Peter asked of them.
"That is brilliant, Peter." Wells understood where he was going and did exactly what Peter was at. "Let's see how Venom likes his heavy metal."
Cisco, Caitlin, and Tess looked confused by that last comment and Wells noticed it.
"What? Is that motor thing people say?" Wells asked.
Cisco placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. "You have a brilliant mind." He assured him.
Back in the fight, Venom was pried off of Jennifer by Johnny blasting a huge heatwave. Ben came charging in and smacked him with the nearby pickup truck.
"We have a plan to stop him for good?" Johnny asked.
"Working on it." Peter promised when the cars start blasting their alarms, followed quickly by the frequency being blasted off of it.
Venom started to screech in pain, running at the nearest car and smashing it, but doing nothing due to the other dozen cars that were blasting the same frequency.
"It's enough to hurt him, not not enough to kill him." Peter warned the team. "Sue, hold him down."
Susan then immediately incased Venom in a forcefield that he immediately started to pound against.
"Johnny, turn up the heat on that freak." Peter said as Johnny flamed on and raced at it.
"Ben, Jen, you guys keep Venom back long enough for me to pull Thompson out of that creature." Peter tells the two and Sue expanded the forcefield to be more of a cell with the roof gone and Johnny flying inside using that.
"On it." Jennifer said as she and Ben ran in and Sue opened a hole in the field for them to enter through and start to fight him.
"That leaves you and me." Peter said to Jessica. "We need to get ready to yank him out of the Symbiote."
"Just tell me when." Jessica agreed with the plan.
Johnny started to circle through the forcefield and was starting to do some damage to the Symbiote. Venom then reached out and smacked Johnny, sending him falling and smacking against the forcefield.
"Johnny!" Sue cried as she saw her brother was injured.
Venom then leaped in and grabbed Johnny before he could flame back on and smacked his head into the ground.
"No!" Sue cried, loosing focus and making the forcefield weaker, allowing Venom to escape.
"This isn't working!" Jennifer noticed as she tried to go back to fight Venom when she and Ben were getting attacked by an infuriated Venom.
"And I think he's getting angrier!" Ben took notice.
"We can't let him escape!" Peter cried as he and Jennifer went in to help.
But before they could get into position to help, thunder started to rain down from above and they all looked in shock to see that Guiding Light has appeared and was the one helping.
Her outfit also seems to have gotten a bit of an upgrade with it being more of a skintight suit as to what it once was, the entire outfit being all blue and wearing military grade dirt brown boots.
"What? Shocked to see me?" Guiding Light asked with a smirk.
"Been a long time, Light." Peter greeted her with a grin none could see.
"Great to be back." Light said as she sent a larger blast at Venom, causing him to shriek attack Light.
"Get back!" Light cried out when suddenly a blast of ice stopped the hand and they saw Crystal was out in the open, followed by her sister wrapping Venom up in her hair and keeping him in place for Light and Crystal to open fire again.
Jessica and Peter then saw this as their chance and shot webs at Flash who was starting to come out and freed him.
"All ours, Johnny." Peter said to the hero who was regaining his senses and was glad to get some revenge.
"Okay, you living black lagoon..." Johnny snarled as he walked over and flamed back on before sending a gigantic heatwave at the creature.
All of them used their powers while Jennifer stepped on Flash's back before he could get up and fight back as they finished scorching the creature. They then all stopped fighting as they saw the Symbiote was officially gone for good.
"Is that it? Is it over?" Johnny asked. "Not so bad."
"It's not over yet." Peter said as he looked over to the Otto Bot.
Otto was back in his lab, trying to see the rest of the attack that was only being surveyed under that one drone. That being the only one Reed agreed to pay for.
"Ugh. I should have won by now. Where is Thompson?" Otto asked as he frantically tried to get a connection back when the door to his lab was smashed open.
Standing in the doorway was none other than the entire team of heroes, with their new friends Spider-Woman, Crystal, and Medusa, along with the returning Guiding Light.
"Okay, there's good news and bad news. Good news is, I for Yuri to agree to put you in a more secure cell where you won't even get parole. Bad news? She also agreed to look the other way for ten minutes." Peter informed Otto who became very afraid at the heroes who were all irritated by what he did to them.
"Haha. You're gonna get punched a lot." Johnny said as he cracked his knuckles.
A while later, Otto and Flash were being dragged through the prescient and were on their way for processing, with Peter watching everything and being applauded for his heroics.
"Nice job out there." Yuri congratulated him. "You and your team are really coming together. Just in time for the world to learn about them."
"Sorta was the plan." Peter said with a shrug. "How do they feel about them here?"
"Some are afraid. Some are shocked. Some are mutual." Yuri shrugged herself. "They would like to get to know them a little better."
"I have an idea for that." Peter promised her, knowing it's time to fight this war in the light and out of the shadows.
Iris was shocked when this time she was contacted by Spider-Man who meets her after Jitters closed.
"You know, this is starting to become a normal thing." Iris commented, remembering his last comment from their last meeting.
"Yeah. Last time we met, we were still in the shadows. Now this war was brought into the light. It's time the people learned." Peter supposed if anyone was gonna tell their story, why not her?
"Why me?" Iris wondered.
"You wanna inspire hope. You won't lie or fabricate our story to make us into monsters." Peter said as he dropped from the table. "The only line I draw is no secret identities revealed."
"Understood." Iris said as she pulled her recorder out. "You mind?"
"Go ahead." Peter guessed that was okay.
Iris placed the recorder on the table and Peter continued to stand there. "So, what is your superhero team called?"
"The official name right now, we call ourselves the Fantastic Five." Peter answered her.
"Five? But there's seven of you." Iris mentioned.
"The female me and Guiding Light's return are new add-on's we didn't even know about until recently." Peter answered her.
After half an hour, Iris and Peter wrapped up their interview and Iris had all of her answers from their powers all the way to their superhero personas. Nothing too personal like weaknesses or secret identities, and he also left out Bette, Wells, Caitlin, and Cisco. As well as left out Franklin and Valeria, Susan not interested in getting her children unwanted attention.
"...and that is the story of the team of heroes who go by the name the Fantastic Five. Their team leader being the one and only Spider-Man. And I think I speak for a lot of people when we say, 'Guiding Light, we've missed you'." Caitlin read off the tablet after Iris posted her story on all of them.
"I do not remember agreeing to the name Fantastic Five." Jennifer commented.
"You got a better name for us?" Johnny asked.
"No." Jennifer supposed.
"You all fought bravely out there, if this were Attilan, you would all be the finest warriors." Medusa congratulated them.
"You weren't too bad out there yourselves." Peter congratulated the sisters.
"Thanks." Crystal said.
"Now to the biggest mystery of the day." Peter said as they looked to Jessica Drew. "You said you needed our help."
Jessica saw it was finally time to tell them why she was here. "I was brought here to spy on your team by HYDRA."
"HYDRA?" Wells asked. "The Nazi scientist division?"
"Yeah, a part of them is left. They created me as an attempt to create their own Spider-Man to fight their battles." Jessica continued her backstory. "And I...wasn't interested in helping them take over the world."
"So you're here looking for shelter?" Bette asked.
"Close. I need you to help me break back in to HYDRA." Jessica explains. "Because...when they saw they couldn't control me...they..." she couldn't even say it as she was a little ashamed of what happened, not of the outcome, just the circumstances. "...they gave me a child. Forcefully."
That easily silenced the room as no one, not even Johnny, were able to think of anything to say
"Yeah, I know." Jessica sighed at seeing their reaction. "Anyway, even though it was under bad circumstances, I love him. And I can't let them hold him in the same prison they kept me in."
"What's his name?" Susan wondered.
"I named him Gerald." Jessica said with a small smile, which Susan could see was genuine, because that's the smile that comes up when she mentions her children.
"You want us to take down a Nazi science division, save your son, and get the two of you to safety." Peter understood what she was saying, and could also tell she was speaking the truth. Somehow he could just sense that she was telling the truth, and was willing to help rescue a child. "I'll call Sharon, see if she can get us a flight."
"Uh, I can't." Susan interjected. "I need to get the kids enrolled in school tomorrow."
"That's fine. It might be best if we kept someone in the city." Peter supposed.
"I can stick around if you'd like." Harley offered as she raised her finger that sparked electricity. "Still getting used to having these back, might be best to stick back where I'll be out of the way and get the hang of them again."
"Suppose it'll be best to leave a duo behind." Peter supposed. "Anyone else?
"Nah."
"Nope."
"Eh, I'm good."
"Great. I'll make the arrangements." Peter said as he looked over and gave Jessica a comforting hand. "We'll get your son back."
"Thank you, Spider-Man." Jessica said with a smile.
"Peter. Peter Parker." Peter informed her.
Jessica smiled and was happy he trusted her with his identity. "Peter."
"Let's go get your son." Peter said with a grin.
(A/N) I know! The 'run, Barry, run' thing was dumb, I just needed to get it out of my system. It was stupid, but I just needed to do it at least once!
