Deus Vult
I sat in the guild with both Colby and Autumn as we enjoyed a rather nice breakfast. We were content to eat in silence, each of us focusing on different things. Autumn seemed to be people watching, eyeing both the maids and the adventurers that milled about the guild. Colby was staring intently at his adventurer's card, most likely because he had just found out it was possible to upgrade from one class to another. It would be difficult, as he would have to increase his base stats in order to qualify for anything else, but it was possible with enough time and practice.
I, on the other hand, was trapped within my own mind, thinking of the blessing that I had chosen, and the possibilities it presented that I had not taken advantage of. It had really only been a little more than a week, but I had gotten a hand of how my gift worked, and now I could theoretically use it with anything I made or worked on. Using the gift was like using a muscle I never knew I had, and was very similar to how I used my skills that I earned on my adventurer's card. With the gift, I could pump energy straight into anything I was creating and make it as good as I wanted based off of how much power I put into the creation. And when I reached the item's maximum potential, it was like a cup overflowing, where the item just could not hold the energy I was putting into it.
Thankfully nothing had exploded from me maxing out an item's potential, but I assumed that it was what made this gift 'divine'. I was also curious if there was a way to stack it. So, if I custom made a handle and blade while pumping it full of magic, and then did the same thing when attaching the two together, would that make it even more powerful? Or is it possible to apply specific effects or resistances to equipment? While I was making my current equipment, I wasn't really thinking anything except for it's shape, but what if I thought about the specific purpose for the object? A few experiments for another time.
"Welp. I think it's time to get another quest." Colby said, getting up from his seat, Autumn and myself silently agreeing as we got up as well. I glanced around the guild, looking for any familiar faces, but besides the regular adventurers, Luna, the maids, and Darkness, I did not see any... Wait a minute. I froze, doing a double take as I saw the strangely familiar form of Lalatina Dustiness Ford, otherwise known as Darkness. Funnily enough, she was staring at me as well, or rather, our group.
She was sitting by the bar area of the guild, and appeared to be drinking some kind of fruit juice. She was instantly recognizable with her long blonde hair tied in a ponytail, her pretty blue eyes, and fair skin. Along with those features, she had on stark white armor that looked rather expensive, that consisted of a large... breastplate, two pauldruns, the right one being shaped like a type of wing, and two large plates that were situated on either side of her hips, hanging to the long yellow battle dress she wore. All in all, she was undoubtedly one of the most beautiful women I had laid eyes on.
I was surprised she was the first member of Kazuma's group I had seen, and wondered briefly why before I remembered that Darkness had been a part of other adventurer groups before joining Kazuma's. I once again questioned where we were in the canon timeline, as well as if Kazuma would show up at all. I realized I was still staring at her, and she too was still staring at me. She seemed to have grown a rather hefty blush, and her eyes had become slightly unfocused as well. When she started to squirm I decided to turn away and follow Colby again. Not sure why Darkness was getting 'excited' I mean, I had my helmet on, so she couldn't see where exactly I was looking. I reached both him and Autumn at the quest board, and they seemed to be looking at a dungeon clearing quest. It appeared to be the same dungeon that Kazuma and his group had been to explore before finding that lich.
"Hey, where'd you go?" Colby asked, to which I just shrugged.
"Nowhere, just thought I saw something." I still didn't quite know why Darkness had been staring us down, but decided to not mention it unless it became relevant. "So, looking at that dungeon quest huh? Keel's Dungeon, right?" Colby nodded confidently, but Autumn seemed a bit reluctant.
"Yes, I mean, I know you two are strong, but I don't know if we should be taking on a quest like this just yet." Autumn's concern wasn't unwarranted, as even though the dungeon had rather weak monsters, it could still be deadly to those that were not prepared. However I believed that with both my gift and Colby's, that we should be fine. If Kazuma Aqua and Darkness could clear it on their own, surly we could. Before I could comment however, I was interrupted by the woman that I had just been having a staring contest with.
"Hold it right there!" Huh, her voice sound like her Japanese voice actor, but instead she's speaking english. We all turned around to see Darkness looking at both me and Colby with an accusatory glare, and it appeared that her declaration had been heard by a few of the nearby guild-goers. I already didn't like where this was going.
"Uh, can we help you?" I asked tentatively. Colby was looking at her with a deer in the headlights expression, while Autumn seemed more curious about her than her statement. Colby was obviously enamored by her looks, not that I could entirely blame him, but he was not helping the situation.
"You could start by explaining why you and your friend here came back to town with that priest cover-" I interrupted her, not allowing anyone that was eavesdropping to get the wrong idea.
"It was all toad saliva, and a mistake on our part, I admit. But, it was simply because of a quest, nothing more." That seemed to have both stunned her to silence, and caused any listeners to return to what they were doing. I remembered briefly that Darkness had confronted Kazuma when the guild was empty, and thus, did not want to know what would happen should she start handing out baseless accusations in the middle of the day. Darkness blushed a bit before saying something that I should have expected, but was not prepared for.
"Cutting me off... so blatantly. Truly, you are a man that has no room for disagreement. A man that would not hesitate to punish those that disobey him or ridicule someone for his own enjoyment! Yes, Then I-" Darkness said, huffing slightly, as she got uncomfortably close to me, and I thanked the heavens I still had my helmet on. Thankfully, Colby came to my rescue.
"Whoa whoa. Now listen, I know my friend here can be pretty curt, and kind of an asshole sometimes, but theres no need to just start accusing him of things." Colby said as he placed his hands on his hips, clearly a little tired of Darkness's antics. Even if I found it amusing to a degree, I didn't want people to get the wrong idea or anything. For her part, Darkness did look a little sheepish at Colby's words, and back off a bit, but then shot us with a determined glare.
"Maybe so, but still, as a crusader I cannot allow two young men to be alone in a party with an innocent priest. I must join your party!" I was actually considering the idea, as even though both me and Colby were martial classes, the same with Darkness's crusader class, I knew for a fact that her level of durability was far beyond either mine or Colby's. Granted, my armor could probably make up for that, but if I could have her take the real risks, then that would be all the better. Unfortunately, neither I nor Colby answered, unsure exactly how to, instead, Autumn spoke before either of us could.
"Absolutely not!" The moment Autumn shouted that out, I expected Darkness to recoil in pleasure like she had when Kazuma had refused her, but instead she had a confused look on her face before she turned to Autumn with surprise. "You insulted my new friend! And with nothing to back up such a statement! Thats just plain mean!" Darkness was still surprised by Autmun's sudden outburst for a few additional seconds before she squirmed and held herself with a small moan.
"Now now, she had the best in mind... I think. Maybe we got off on the wrong foot." I said, attempting to somewhat defuse the situation. I held my hand out to Darkness, even if she was still recoiling after Autumn's reprimand. "My name is Christopher, by the way." Darkness seemed to recover slightly before shaking my hand. With an unsurprisingly strong grip.
"Oh, of course..." Darkness said, huffing a bit still as she took my hand. "My name is Darkness, I'm a Crusader of Eris. A pleasure to meet you." Thats right, I had almost forgotten that classes like Crusaders, Paladins, Priests, and Arch-Priests were all linked to whatever deity they worshiped. It was rarely brought up in any major way in the show, with the exception of a certain arch-priestess, especially as to how these classes linked to the deities, so it honestly slipped my mind.
"This is Colby, and the Priest you were speaking to is Autumn. We only recently became a party, and yesterday was us taking on our first quest." I explained, Darkness's face becoming calmer as she seemed to regain her senses. Hopefully it would stay that way.
"I see, so it was your first quest, then I suppose I should apologize. My first quest did not go very smoothly either." I nod with a smile, happy that this was resolved. "But, I must insist I join your party! P-Please." She started off again in a strict manner, but ended up sounding like she was begging.
"Well, we could use a dedicated front-line." I said in a considering manner, and Autumn gave a conflicted hum. Colby also had a rather contemplative look, most likely thinking that a third martial class would be a little excessive. I still wasn't sure if Kazuma would show up, nor was I convinced that if he did show up that he wouldn't die without Darkness there. However, at the moment, Darkness was asking to join, Kazuma wasn't here, and I knew that despite her inability to hit, she was nigh indestructible. I was wondering how to convince them, before I saw the quest on the notice board again, and got an idea. "Alright, how about this, we take her on a quest, and if we like working with her, we let her join, and if not, we look for a mage, that sound good?" Colby and Autumn looked at each other for a moment, before nodding in agreement. Darkness looked genuinely happy about that, and seemed eager to go adventuring.
"So, Darkness, do you mind if I see your adventuring card?" I asked curiously, to which she handed it over easily. Rather unsurprisingly, she was a solid level 6, while both me and Colby were still level 1, and I remember Autumn saying at some point she was level 3. Honestly, her level difference was just one more reason I'd like to have her on the team. I had meant to look at Autumn's spell list, but never got around to it. Then I read her skills.
Darkness:
Gender: Female Age: 19 Race: Human Lv6
Class: Crusader
Abilities-
Strength: 72
Health: 146
Magic Power: 1
Dexterity: 30
Agility: 15
Luck: 10
Skills-
[Defense]
[Greater Defense]
[Supreme Defense]
[Resistance]
I read the descriptions of each one, and mentally sighed. They were pretty much self explanatory, with the exception of the [resistance] skill, which gave her resistances to status effects such as stun, or poison, but no bonuses to plain defense, like the first three on her list did. It was everything I expected to be honest.
"Well, you certainly wanted nothing to get by you, huh?" I say with a small laugh, but Darkness looked at me with surprising seriousness.
"Of course! Its the role of a Crusader to put themselves before their comrades and take the enemy head on! They will have to get through me to get to anyone I'm with." This was said with an absolute seriousness I couldn't help but respect, and I was reminded that despite being a massive pervert, Darkness was easily one of the most reliable of Kazuma's group, not that that's saying much.
"Well then, for the time being Darkness, we'll get to see just how serious you are about that claim." I said, handing her back her adventurer's card, a small smile on my face.
"Are we there yet?" Autumn asked, more out of curiosity than boredom, but even then I was tempted to snark something at her.
"Almost. It should be just up ahead." This time it was Darkness that responded, who was familiar with the dungeon, having been there once before. When we had asked further, she seemed to become embarrassed. It was most likely because of an excursion into this dungeon that resulted in her being kicked from a party. But that was only my guess.
We arrived at the dungeon roughly four hours after setting out. Thankfully, the dungeon was not far away by most standards, but was still far enough away to warrant packing for an overnight trip. We would need to stay here for the night and sleep in shifts, as we had planned to go into the dungeon both on the first day of arriving, and on the second. The entrance itself was rather plain, and looked just like the one in the show. The entrance was honestly reminiscent of an Aztec temple given the dull red and blue colors along with the light tan bricks that made up the bulk of the structure.
"Just like I remembered it." Darkness said, a bit of excitement in her voice. I merely nodded as I surveyed the area. Colby was doing the same, but soon walked out, all of us following him. Autumn still seemed hesitant, but was following along regardless, determined to stick with us.
"Alright, Darkness you're taking point, you've got experience in this dungeon anyway. Me and Colby will be behind you, and Autumn will be in the rear." I explained, Colby getting next to me, and prepping his weapons.
"You'll both be taking my rear! So forward!" Me and Colby pause as we hear that, him giving me a very shocked look while I just shrug before I face Darkness again.
"Darkness, just... focus please." I urged lightly, prompting the blonde crusader to nod, with a heavy blush, before she made her way into the dungeon, all of us following behind. I had my shield up, and Colby was carefully surveying the area. There wasn't much, and it was hard to see with the limited sunlight in the dark stone corridor, but it was manageable for now. Colby had a few torches on him, so I might have him bring them out. Before a feint light illuminated above us, and I looked back to see Autumn had a small light above her head, as did Colby, myself and Darkness. The lights weren't necessarily bright, probably dimmer than torches, but they were better than nothing.
"Ah, this is a holy light spell, or at least, one way to use it. Usually this version only effects the caster, but thanks to my staff, I can effect all of you at once!" Autumn said cheerily, Colby let out an 'ohh' in slight aw, as he looked up at his own light, and as I myself looked at the faint light above me, I thought that maybe Autumn's staff is more useful than I give it credit for.
We continued on shortly after, before we heard the scurrying of feet. Then we saw them. A group of about 5 goblins, wielding crude knives, came rushing for us. Darkness stood still as she attracted their attention, her bright armor was like a beacon, telling them where to go to attack. She swung first though, as with her great sword, she has better range. Unfortunately, that did not help her, as she missed her swing completely, her sword swinging harmlessly over their heads. She was rewarded for her efforts by two of the Goblins stabbing their knives into her belly, or at least they tired. The knives simply stopped as they struck her abdomen, her robe ripping, but her flesh unharmed. Darkness barely reacted, and even then it seemed to mostly be due to the fact her clothes were a bit ripped.
The other three raced around her to get to us. One came for me, while the other two went for Colby. Colby raced to meet them, the feral goblins slashing in a mindless attempt to attack him, only for the one on Colby's left to have it's head decapitated, while the one on his right was impaled with his other sword. Thankfully, the Goblins were not too smart, and were easy to dal with as well. The one that came for me struck, only to be stopped by my shield, the dagger bending as it's crude metal met the enhanced bronze. It looked at it's dagger in slight bewilderment before I cut it down, the goblin falling down in a heap.
"Well, that was easy." I said to myself, before looking up and seeing Darkness struggling to fight off the two that were on her, even if they weren't really doing anything. I approached at a jog, and delivered a solid kick to an unsuspecting Goblin, at which I heard a satisfying crack, signaling I had at least broken something. A smattering of blood told me Colby had taken out the other Goblin that had been harassing Darkness. After a quick stomp with my armored boot, the goblin I had struck was dead.
"Oh, well, there was no need to do that so suddenly... they weren't really hurting me." Darkness said somewhat disappointed, apparently hoping to be stabbed at more. Colby raised an eyebrow before he shook his head to move on. Besides the crude knives and the far too loose loin cloths, these Goblins had nothing of real value on them. So, we moved on, aiming to find a treasure chest of some sort.
"So Darkness, How long have you been an adventurer now?" Colby asked, sounding genuinely curious as to the crusader's experience.
"Ah, well I started adventuring last year, and have been a member of a few parties... but I have been on enough quests now that I have reached level 8. I have fought quite a few types of monsters, and have done some reading on others, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask me!" Darkness said with sincerity, and seemed rather eager to speak about her previous exploits.
"Ah, okay, so what kind of monsters are in here?" Colby asked, looking around a corner to another hall, where there was a door at the end, and another door to the right of him that had yet to be opened.
"The goblins we just encountered are likely ones that wandered into the dungeon to seek shelter. Most of the monsters that are down her are undead such as skeletons and zombies of various types." Darkness explained, and I listened in. While I knew that Keel himself was down here, the lich undoubtedly hoping that one of us would be able to send him to the afterlife. Unfortunately, we didn't have Aqua, and I personally doubted that Autumn could perform such a feat.
"So, nothing too tough, right?" Autumn asked, a bit nervously as we continued. I opened the door to the right to discover there was a singular chest within.
"Looks like we got something." I said aloud, catching my party's attention. They all cluttered around me to see the inside of the room, and the chest within. "Definitely trapped." Nearly everyone nodded at that statement as Chris stepped forward, cautiously looking around the stone brick room.
"Perhaps you should let me go first Christopher, after all, you wanted me to come along to show you my skills on the front line!" Darkness offered, walking up next to him, an eager smile on her face. Chris stepped back a bit in shock, but simply nodded.
"Well, uh, be my guest then." He said, gesturing to the chest, allowing Darkness to go first. She was more than obliged as she approached the chest, a giddy expression on her face. We all watched cautiously as she approached, briefly looking around it's sides and back before going to open it. Only for the chest to open on it's own, revealing two rows of razor sharp teeth and a large purple tongue. A mimic, figures.
Darkness seemed to be mesmerized by the monster long enough for the thing to lunge at her and bite onto her sword. The two of them struggled as the mimic salivated all over the weapon, and Darkness doing her best to wrench it free from it's grasp. Thankfully Colby was upon it quickly, and was able to stab it with both of his swords, the creature screaming horribly as it flailed about, the two swords in it's back causing it no small amount of pain. I rushed in, and sliced vertically, nearly cutting the thing in twain as myself and Darkness were showered in purple blood. But it finally stopped screaming.
After that brief and rather unnerving encounter, Darkness, after getting over 'not' being eaten alive, explained as much as she could about mimics when I asked. Turns out, Mimics were like shell-residing animals almost, as they often moved from dungeon to dungeon depending on their success in ambushing prey. Thankfully the one we had just encountered was a very young one, and thus, simply acted on instincts when presented the opportunity to gain food. It didn't take into account that it was outnumbered, and thus attacked and did not attempt to flee like an older mimic might. Or if they were powerful enough, they might just try to take us all on, believing it was powerful enough.
It was all rather fascinating, if a little basic, and I made a mental note of that info as we strode onwards. The monsters that we encountered afterwards were nothing too special, some weak undead of various types, a few more goblins, some giant bats, and a few undead mages. They were a slightly more powerful undead capable of casting spells, but thanks to Darkness's experience, Autumn's buff spells, and both my and Colby's gifts, it was a rather easy affair.
"So... is this everything?" Autumn suddenly asked, looking around for anymore threats, but ever since we had the encounter with the mimic, monsters seemed to be appearing less and less, and we seemed to be running into dead ends every so often, being forced to backtrack quite a bit.
"For now, likely." Darkness responded, looking about the same corridor we had first run into near two hours ago. "Monsters will likely appear agin next week, but it seems as though we've cleared out the vast majority. Plus, we've come away with quite a haul." Darkness stated, bringing about her own pack to look at it. The majority of it was now full of gold and silver coins, with a few small treasures as well. Nothing magical, but instead just valuable. Colby and myself also had a bit of a small horde as well, although Darkness was carrying the majority of it due to her ridiculous strength.
"I guess we leave then. I mean, we have been down here all day." Colby said, huffing a bit. He was right, of course, but I knew that Keele himself was down here, waiting on someone that could take him to the afterlife. The lich was actually supposed to be a pretty nice guy, and this dungeon his home at one point. But since he hasn't shown himself, it must mean that Autumn isn't powerful enough to fit what he needs. Either that, or we missed something, which is entirely possible since I can't remember the show word-for-word. It seemed a bit cheap though that I couldn't remember how exactly Kazuma had found where the lich was. Nothing I could really do about it now though.
"Sounds like a plan to me." I say with a nod, as Colby led the way towards the entrance. I thought a bit more bout the nature of the dungeon as we left it. The undead would always come back likely because of Keele re-summoning them or something, and the treasure would always reappear... Actually, I'm not sure why. It's what Luna had told me when I inquired about the quest. The loot in the chests would just kind of reappear after a week or two. The only thing I could think of was that Keele went around and re-stocked the dungeon regularly. But that seemed oddly simple, but it wouldn't be that far off for Konosuba though.
Dusk greeted us as we left the entranceway, the evening colors dancing across the sky. I sighed in satisfaction as we left, thankfully finding nothing out of the ordinary as we did so. That wasn't so bad really, besides a few scares and unexpected traps, we didn't really run into anything too terrible. Maybe its because Aqua and her horrible luck isn't with us? Or is it that... we simply aren't the protagonists of a light novel? I chuckled to myself at that, wondering if we were going to luck out purely by the fact Kazuma wasn't here. Maybe... I shouldn't have thought that.
"Is something wrong Christopher?" I heard Darkness's voice call after me as I stared up at the evening sky, taking in it's beauty as I thought. I shook my head, before taking off my helmet and sighing deeply.
"Nothing really, just a bit disappointed. We planned to take the dungeon on tomorrow too, but we pretty much cleared the whole thing out today. I honestly expected it to take longer." I said wistfully, glancing back at her, noticing her staring a bit. "Something wrong?" Darkness seemed to catch herself and blushed lightly.
"Sorry, its the first time I've seen you without your helmet. You've worn it all day." I blinked as I realized she was right. I only took it off briefly to east a small lunch in the dungeon, but Darkness had been on watch for us at the time. I shrug as I held the piece of forged bronze in my hands.
"Its comfortable." was my only reply to that.
"So spend the night, and leave in the morning?" Colby asked, to which I nodded, looking around the entrance. "Darkness, is it common for people to camp out at the entrance?" Darkness put a hand to her chin as she thought.
"Well, only after the dungeon has been cleared, which usually takes quite a bit of time. I'm impressed it went so smoothly." I cringed a bit at that, recalling how Both I and her had to take more than a few hits for both Autumn and Colby, including a barrage of arrows that I had taken with my shield. "So I don't see anything wrong with it. I'll start collecting firewood." Darkness said, as she set down her pack. I nodded, and looked to Autumn and Colby as the blonde crusader left.
"So what do you think?" I asked them, as I set my own pack down and began to take out my tent. "Think Darkness would work well with us?" I continued absentmindedly, Colby and Autumn doing the same with their own supplies.
"Hmm. Shes a little strange." Autumn said, putting her staff down, and taking out a rather well-used tent from her pack, along with some cooking utensils. "And she was really rude when we first met her... but she can be nice sometimes." She paused as she appeared to zone out for a second, both me and Colby waiting on a response.
"Uh... Autumn?" Colby asked tentatively, and Autumn jumped a bit as she was addressed.
"Oh, right! Sorry about that... umm, yea, I think Darkness would fit well in our party!" I laughed a bit, remembering that morning, and how apprehensive she had been.
"Yea... I guess I'm on the same page as Autumn, but I've only known her for... a little less than a day? I suppose I'm still a little skeptical considering... she can't hit anything..." He paused, and shook his head. "But I mean, sure, why not?" I nodded, as I continued to set up my tent. I was slightly worried still about what Kazuma was going to do without her, but shook my head, knowing that ultimately I needed to decided what was best for me and my group first.
"Alright then, unless something drastic changes then, Darkness will be going on quests with us from now on." I said, as I finished putting up my tent, preparing some seats as I grabbed some small boulders and set them around. While a bit strenuous, they weren't too heavy, plus I was trying to get into proper adventuring shape with occasional exercises. About that time, Darkness came back with a large bundle of firewood on her shoulder.
"Ah, great, everything is set up." Darkness said, approaching the fire pit and began to set up a small fire. Autumn went to Darkness's pack and began to set up the crusader's tent for her. "Oh, thank you Autumn, you didn't have to set up my tent." Darkness said kindly as I sat down on a nearby log and began to wipe down my blade, distracting myself with my work. Colby stepped away, likely to take care of business.
Nightfall seemed to finally arrive as the fire continued to roar, Darkness watching the flames carefully, and Autumn put a pot over it to start the stew she had packed, filling the air with a pleasant aroma. I had moved onto polishing my shield, making sure the edges were sharp, and realized that they seemed to sheen a bit as I wiped my rag over them, as I felt a bit of that 'feeling' leave my body again, just like when I first made the stuff.
I wondered just how far my power extended. Did polishing my equipment count as 'making them'? I honestly wouldn't think so... but what if the power was based off of what I believed to be right? Interesting thought, one I might be able to do now actually.
"Smells good." Colby said, returning from his bathroom break, to which Autumn and Darkness took a deep breath of the pot's contents, sighing contently as I finished polishing my shield. I smiled as Autumn began to grab wooden bowls and hand them out. I grabbed my helmet and studied it a moment, as I remembered the first time I had seen this design. It was an old documentary from the early 2000s that was all about the wars between the greek city states and Persia. I remembered being enraptured by it in all honesty, History being one of my first topics that fascinated me. Mom had encouraged me to pursue it as a topic in college, but I instead went straight to work. Now though... I was separated from all of it.
"Christopher?" My name being called brought me out of my stupor, as Autumn held a steaming bowl of stew in front of me. It was fairly thick looking, and the chunks of potatoes, vegetables, and meats made my mouth begin to water. "Is everything alright?" She asked, even as I took the bowl.
"Oh, yea, I'm okay, just deep in thought." I said, taking a bite of it. "And thank you, the stew is great." I said, giving her a winning smile, one which Autumn returned. Colby gave me a inquisitive glance, and seemed to know something might have been up. Years of interaction would do that. Thankfully, he didn't say anything. Darkness was busy enjoying her soup, and as I looked over to her, she saw my glance.
"Darkness, thank you for coming. I know you asked us to let you join originally, but having you with us was another level of comfort for me going through the dungeon." I say genuinely, as despite her nature, she was very useful in the dungeon, always taking the lead in fights, and allowing myself and Colby to focus on both the enemies and keeping Autumn safe. The young noblewoman gave me a small smile.
"Theres no need to thank me, it was my pleasure. Yourself and Colby weren't so bad yourselves. Your skills are rather impressive." I nod in thanks as I continue to eat my meal.
"Well, if it wasn't for Autumn, we wouldn't have nearly as easy a time without her." Colby said, gesturing to the priest with his spoon. Autumn waved off the compliment, quickly following it up by complimenting Colby for his quick reflexes. As she did so, and their conversation about the recent spelunking continued, I grabbed my adventurers card, and looked at it with slightly wide eyes.

I chuckled a bit as I looked at my stats, my mind already considering the abilities I wanted to increase and the Skills I wanted to obtain. Colby likely had the same level, and didn't even realize it. I looked over to them, a smile on my face, hoping that maybe, when its all said and done, that we'll make it in this wild world.
"Oh, and Darkness?" I suddenly asked, making the crusader look up to me. "Welcome to the party."
Author's notes:
The third, and fully re-constructed chapter is here! As things progress, we will see more of the canon characters, as well as the events within the konosuba timeline. However, things will definitely begin to diverge pretty early on, considering Darkness is now apart of Christopher's party, and likely won't be going anywhere soon. As for what all will transpire, I have some plans definitely, but I think I need to do some more research into the world, and if I can't find something I'm looking for... well, we'll see. But anyways, I hope you guys enjoyed the chapter, and as always...
Thanks for reading!
