Chapter One
Isabella Swan, or Bella, woke up on the floor in a bloody, broken mess. She couldn't believe her boyfriend would do such a horrible thing. He always seemed so sweet and such a gentleman. However, Edward has shown Bella his true colors and she is terrified. Her clothes were shredded. The lovely pale yellow sundress that Alice had bought for her birthday party was barely hanging on by a thread. Bella carefully sat up, the action causing her body to ache even more. The floor-length mirror in front of her showed a brutal reflection of a broken face, bleeding nose, and lip, bruises forming all over her body. Her right arm felt like it was broken. And judging by the swelling and discoloration of her left ankle, it will be difficult to stand, let alone walk but she needed to getaway.
Edward and his family had left to go hunt, leaving Bella inside their home alone. They assumed she was still unconscious. Bella crawled over to Edward's bookcase and used it to lift herself up. She tested how much weight her left ankle could hold. It wasn't much but it didn't stop her from limping out of the house. She needed to get across the treaty line into Le Push. Bella needed to hurry if she didn't want Alice to see her leave. Limping through the woods in the direction of the reservation, cradling her right arm to her chest, she trudged on.
Bella was coming close to the treaty line when she felt like she was being followed. She sped up as much as she could with her injuries. Her eyes were almost swollen shut, the cold damp air stinging her skin. Knowing it will cost her some of her energy, and possibly get her caught, she called out, "Jake! Leah! Seth!" Bella chanced looking over her shoulder and wished she didn't. She couldn't see the Cullen clan but she felt the shift of the air like they're closing in. Screaming as loud as her damaged lungs would allow, "Jake! Leah! Sam!"
It was by sheer luck that she made it to the treaty line, but she did not stop there. Bella kept going, knowing if she stopped Edward would grab her. Off in the distance ahead of her, she could hear the howls of the pack. If she could smile with relief, she would but she knew she wasn't safe yet. Bella saw two of the massive shapeshifters running towards her, it was Sam, the Alpha, and Paul. Bella reached out with her left hand, wanting nothing more than to grasp a hold of the wolves and fall apart.
Paul got a visual on Bella before Sam did, "Jesus, it's Bella! Jake, she's hurt bad." The wolves took a deep sniff and growled. This time Sam spoke their link, "She reeks of the leech." A chorus of growls was heard through the mental link. Jake, Leah, and Seth phased and were catching up to Paul and Sam. The pack had reached Bella. Once the wolves surrounded her, she collapsed and sobbed. Too concerned for Bella to care about his nudity, Jake phased back, "Bella?" His voice almost cracked at the sight of his best friend. He reached out to touch her shoulder, but she flinched. Bella tilted her head up and tried to see Jake through her swollen eyes, "Jake?" "It's me," Jake leaned in slowly. "What happened?" Jake asked, not sure he wants to know but needs to.
"I tol-told hi-him n-n-no," Bella was trying to talk through her tears. She swallowed, trying to soothe her dry, scratchy throat, and took a deep but painful breath. "He proposed, but I said no. Th-the look in his eyes was so cruel. It was like I was seeing the real Edward, so I told him no. He got so angry." She started sobbing even heavier. Bella couldn't even finish explaining what happened, it was too hard. The feeling of Edward beating her, then stripping her of her innocence before leaving to go hunt, as if he did nothing wrong. She felt so violated and dirty, along with being scared and in severe pain.
Sam had called to Embry and Jared to join them in human form. The two boys approached the pack. They heard everything through the link. Jared clapped a hand on Jake's trembling shoulder. They all could tell Jake was going to phase out of anger if he didn't get ahold of himself. But Jake didn't want to, he wanted to tear the leeches apart. Not only have they broken the treaty and harmed a human, but Edward, the one he hated the most, had hurt his best friend.
Jared knelt by Jake and Bella, "I'll take her to your house, so you can deal with the leeches." Jake nodded his head, too pissed off to speak. Jared carefully lifted Bella in his arms and stood up. When Bella's body passed by Jake, he got a whiff of something he did not want to smell. Not only was Bella smothered in the leeches' scent but also the scent of semen mixed with blood. The pack was even angrier, if that was possible. Sam spoke for the pack through the link, "Call Charlie." Jared showed that he heard his alpha and then left with Bella. He was going to bring her to Jake's house and inform Billy Black of what happened.
Bella had lost consciousness again before getting to Jake's house. Jared barged in the door, nearly tearing the screen door away from the small house. Billy Black was in his living room sharing a beer with Charlie watching a football game. The sound of the door slamming open caught their attention. Charlie set his beer down and followed Jared to Jake's room. Charlie got a good look at his daughter when Jared laid her down and moved out of the way. "Bella? What happened?" He sat on the edge of the bed next to Bella's head and looked over his shoulder at Jared waiting for an explanation. Jared leaned against the door frame with his arms crossed, trying to calm down so he doesn't phase in front of Charlie. Also trying to not look at the blood on his hands and forearms. In a voice just above a whisper which is not like Jared, "She said no. He proposed and she said she saw something in his eyes, almost like a shift in personality so she said no. He beat her, and we think he raped her."
Billy was outside of Jake's room in his wheelchair, watching everything unfold. He needs to contact the rest of the elders, and Sue Clearwater for Bella to receive medical attention. "I'm calling Sue," Billy wheeled back into the living room to call Sue. He hung up his phone after explaining what he knew and that Bella needs medical attention but can't risk taking her to the clinic Dr. Cullen works at. The Clearwaters' only lived a few houses over, so she arrived fairly quickly. Sue came in with a duffle packed with medical supplies and a camera to Jake's room.
Sue had to clasp a hand over her mouth to hide her trembling lips. The extent of Bella's injuries was extreme, and that is only what she could see. Sue took a deep breath, steeled her nerves, and took Charlie's place. Since Bella is unconscious and still lived under her father's roof, she was able to ask Charlie for permission to treat her and catalog the injuries with pictures. Plus Charlie would need photographic evidence for the assault charges against her now ex-boyfriend. Sue had Jared step out so she could strip Bella. Charlie left the room as well. That may be his daughter, but he didn't want her to feel any more uncomfortable than she already was. Whether she was awake or not. Charlie stepped outside to call the station to have someone head over to the Cullens.
Jared on the other hand, went into the woods towards the pack and phased. He could hear the fight going on through the link before he phased, now he's getting images of what's happening. Sam was arguing with Carlisle to hand over Edward or they would all die. Emmett, Rosalie, and Jasper were willing to hand over Edward. They were not home when Edward attacked Bella and they were sickened by it. Those three left Carlisle, Esme, Alice, and Edward to deal with the pack. Jasper spoke to Sam, "We were not there and we want no part of this. You can have Eddy." With that said, Jasper, Emmett, and Rosalie sped back to their house to pack their belongings and leave.
The pack felt Jared phase. Jake asked how Bella was doing. "Sue is with her now. Charlie was there with Billy," Jared said as he came up to the pack. They all were ready to tear Edward apart. Carlisle was having no luck reasoning with the wolves. Then Edward opened his mouth, "The bitch should have known her place. You will bring her back home." Jake growled at him, "Bella is not yours. She will never go back to you." "Then I will go through you to get her back," Edward lunged at Jake.
Leah had been watching the pixie-like cold one, Alice. She kept smirking at the pack. Leah could tell she knew something the pack didn't, she was a seer after all. When Edward charged at Jake, Leah targeted Alice. Esme was fighting with Embry with Seth flanking him. Sam and Carlisle had gone head-to-head. With Rosalie, Emmett, and Jasper gone, the vampires were at a disadvantage. The pack outnumbered the vampires. Embry easily tore Esme apart. Leah had a little trouble but eventually ripped Alice's head off. Edward was so angry he couldn't concentrate fully on the fight and it cost him. Jake spit Edward's head out near Carlisle, who was wrestling with Sam. The rolling, severed head distracted Carlisle enough for Sam to attack and rip his head off.
The pack was panting, bloody but alive. The Cullens were dead, in pieces on the forest floor. Sam gave Embry, Jared, and Seth the order to clean up and burn the bodies. Jake, Sam, and Leah returned to Jake's house. Jake phased back and was dressed before he left the treeline. He could feel the scratches, bruised ribs, and jaw already healing. Leah was not far behind him, followed by Sam. They entered the small house that seemed to be filled to capacity. Jake could see Billy, and Charlie was in the living room with a few officers from Charlie's station. He could smell Sue in his bedroom with Bella. Jake took a step in the direction of his room. Billy stopped him, "I wouldn't go in there son. Sue is still examining Bella." Billy turned to Leah, "Why don't you go see if your mom needs help?" It wasn't a request, it was an order from an elder, so Leah didn't argue. She walked down the short hallway to Jake's room and knocked on the door, "It's Leah. Do you need any help?" She heard her mother stand up and open the door a crack to let Leah in without exposing Bella to the house.
Sue had Leah take pictures of the bruises that Sue had not taken yet. After that, Leah helped Bella sit up so Sue could wrap her ribs. Leah suggested, "While we have her sitting up, should we put one of Jake's tee shirts on her. The sheriff is probably gonna want her dress." Sue exhaled through her nose and stood to dig through Jake's dresser finding an XL, plain grey tee shirt. Leah and Sue pulled the tee-shirt on Bella and laid her back down, pulling the covers up to her chest. The moment Sue opened the door, Jake and Charlie were standing there. "I know you want to take Bella home, Charlie, but her injuries are quite extensive. She needs a few days to recover before thinking about moving her anywhere besides the bathroom." Sue informed Charlie, her voice carried throughout the house.
The whole group was sitting or standing around the living room, taking last-minute statements from everyone. Sue and Charlie made it clear that Bella did not go to the Fork's Clinic since Dr. Cullen is involved through his son. That statement, the list of injuries, and the photos were documented, Bella's sundress was tagged and bagged as evidence. The officers left to process the paperwork and open a case against the Cullens. Charlie could not be involved in the process since it is personal, the Sheriff Deputy will have to sign in his place.
Most of the wolves left to patrol. They needed to make sure no other cold ones trespassed onto the reservation. Charlie opted to sleep on the couch, so he wasn't far from his daughter. Jake had already gone to his room and made a bed on the floor next to his bed. Being so close to his best friend, he was able to hear a shift in her conscious state. It would be another three days before she woke up. Bella didn't realize her life would again be flipped upside down.
When Bella woke, she was still in a lot of pain. She woke to soft hands removing her bandages. Opening her eyes to see Sue in front of her was a blessing. Sue gave a small smile, "Glad to see you're awake. How do you feel?" "Like I've been run over by a truck," Bella answered. Sue had finished examining Bella's injuries and was putting away her supplies. She patted Bella on the shoulder then left the room. As soon as Sue left, Jake stormed in, "Bella!" He was so glad to see her awake he forgot about her injuries and squeezed her in a wolf-hug. "Jake, can't breathe." Bella gasped. Jake loosened his hold, "Sorry. You scared us for a bit." He scanned his best friend and saw her injuries have healed faster than they should have. Jake just brushed it off, thinking it was because Sue treated her quickly. "Jake, what happened?" Bella needed to know if she was still in danger.
Jake had recapped what happened between the pack and the Cullens. "Three of the leeches left. They haven't been back and their house is empty. Charlie had the Deputy go over to serve an arrest warrant for the leech but they found the place empty." Bella nodded her head, trying to hold back tears. She blamed herself for getting herself into this situation. She didn't see the red flags until it was too late. They were subtle but still there before Edward attacked her. She had her head down, looking at her lap, "I'm sorry. You tried to warn me and I didn't listen. I thought I loved him, but it wasn't real. When Edward proposed, he seemed different. Cruel, impatient, and extremely possessive. I saw it in his eyes. I was scared, but I knew I couldn't say yes. If I did, I just would have been trapped. I said no and watched him become angry, volatile. I expected to die from the way he reacted. After he did what he did, I wish he would have killed me." Bella looked up from her lap, tears free-flowing, "Jake, he beat and raped me. Carlisle, Esme, and Alice were in the house. I know they heard me screaming for him to stop, but they didn't stop him." Bella started sobbing harder, "I feel so dirty and violated. But I know no matter how hard I can scrub my skin raw, I will still be able to feel his hands on me. Feel what he did to me." Jake held Bella in his arms as she cried. If the leeches weren't already dead, Jake would be hunting them down.
Two Weeks Later
Bella had almost fully recovered and was back home with Charlie. After she woke up, Bella had called her mother and told a story that she and Edward broke up for good. She didn't give a reason, she didn't need to. Charlie was in contact with Renee that first night. He told her Edward was wanted for questioning but didn't go into detail. Again, he didn't have to, mother's intuition and all. Bella reassured her mother that she was safe with Charlie.
Once Bella was settled back home, she developed a routine of eating, sleeping, taking short walks with Jake, Leah, or Jared, then eating and sleeping more. Jake and Jared were no surprise but Leah was. As far as Bella knew, Leah hated her. It was through these walks that Bella found out Leah hated the fact that Bella was seduced by the leeches and still had Jake's attention. The two of them sorted it out and became fast friends, something unheard of for Leah. More often Leah and Bella could be found attached at the hip, even more than Jake and Bella.
Two weeks after the attack, Bella had zoned out in the kitchen. When she came back to reality, she was grossed out by the half-eaten raw steak in her hands. She moved to the sink in time to vomit what she had eaten. After rinsing her mouth out, Bella sat down at the kitchen table trying to figure out why she felt off. Nothing came to mind at the moment. It was a stomach cramp when she stood up that got her brain overthinking. Bella ran up to her room to check her calendar. Her period. She missed it.
Jake arrived later that day to a frantically pacing Bella. He watched her for a few laps, taking a deep sniff and listening closely. Jake's eyes almost popped out of his head when he heard a second heartbeat coming from Bella, and her scent was off. "Bella?" Jake stepped into her path and grasped her upper arms. Looking closely at her, Jake could see Bella looked sick, "Bella, what's going on?" She looked up but didn't meet his eyes, "I'm pregnant. I don't know how. I mean, I know how. But it shouldn't be possible. He was a vampire." Bella worked herself up to the point she felt nauseous and lightheaded again. She sat down before she passed out. Jake inadvertently relayed their conservation to the pack, Sam was irate.
Sam could see only two options, abort the demon spawn or kill them both. Jake agreed with Sam about getting rid of it but not to hurt Bella. Leah couldn't decide what to do. She needed to speak with Bella first. Leah wanted to know what Bella wanted to do. Leah asked Sam for two days, so she could talk to Bella. Both Jake and Sam reluctantly agreed to give Leah two days to help Bella deal with the abomination.
The next morning, Leah was walking with Bella at a much slower pace. There was a heavy silence until Leah broke it, "What do you want to do Bella? No matter what you decide, I'm here for you. I promise." Leah looked down at Bella's midsection. There was already a small baby bump. Bella's voice was shaky, "I can't abort her." "Her? You already know it's a girl?" Leah stopped them from walking any further. "I can hear her voice in my head. She showed me images of her future." Bella wraps her arms around herself, and looks Leah in the eyes, "And I'm not in it. I don't survive." Leah needed to clarify, "Are you sure it's your baby, your fetus talking to you, or is it in your head?" She saw the moment Bella was offended, "How dare you?! Why would I make something up like this?" Leah grabbed both of Bella's hands, "I needed to know. Because, if this child is speaking to you then we need to get out of here and hide. Sam has given an alpha order to either terminate the pregnancy or kill you. So, I need to know...Is this child worth it?"
Bella heard her daughter, "Mommy, touch her so I can show her." Bella reached up and cupped Leah's face. Images of the future scrolled through Leah's mind like an album flipping its pages. A future with Leah and a beautiful little girl, Bella's daughter, as a family with others that she cannot see but knows they are there. The images stop when Bella drops her hand, "What did you see?" Leah wasn't going to tell her she was right, that Bella wasn't there, "I saw her. She's beautiful." The rest of the walk was used to come up with a plan to get away from the pack. Leah always did feel like the odd-one-out, being the only female to phase. Sam was her ex-boyfriend. She didn't love him anymore but is bitter about him being the alpha.
Jake was getting worried. He has not heard or seen Bella since before Leah went to talk to her about the abomination. The more Jake thought about it, the angrier he got. Bella was pregnant with something that wasn't entirely human. The thought of Bella possibly wanting to keep the thing, made him sick to his stomach. He left his home to go speak with Bella. Jake had knocked on the door of the Swan residence. Charlie answered the door, "Jake? What's up?" "Is Bella here?" Jake asked while discreetly sniffing for her scent. He could smell it but it was two or three days old. "She left with Leah to go camping a couple of days ago. Said she wanted to relax with no reminders for a night or two. Took my tent and everything, and left her cell phone." Charlie said. Jake clenched his jaw, "Thank you. Could you have her call me when she gets home?" "Sure thing kid," Charlie nodded and then closed the door.
Phasing while running into the woods, Jake searched for Bella and Leah. He also contacted Sam, "They ran! Bella hasn't been home in two days. Charlie says they went camping with his gear." Jake ran further into the woods towards the Canadian border. Sam, Jared, Paul, and Embry caught up with him. They continued to search for the two women camping in the woods. Several hours and miles upon miles late, there were no signs of Bella or Leah anywhere. Sam even tried to contact Leah through the pack link but she has blocked him. Something only a deserter could do. Sam tried one last time using his 'Alpha' voice, "Leah! Answer me! Where are you?" It was an hour later that Leah responded, "I can't let you hurt Bella or the little one. You will not find us."
The pack could not believe Leah would abandon them, especially Seth. "Leah?" "I'm sorry little brother. Take care of yourself." Leah closed off the connection again. Seth was heartbroken. His big sister has always been there for him. So, for her to leave him and the pack, crushed him. When Seth returned home, he walked into the kitchen hearing his mother on the phone. "I understand. Keep me posted when you can," Sue hung up before Seth could snatch the phone away. He could see tears in his mother's eyes. "Was that Leah?" Seth looked to his mother. The expression told him all he needed to know. "She's not coming back, is she?" Seth was hoping he was wrong. Sue shook her head, "She explained what was going on. She can't come back. She went against Sam for Bella and her unborn child. She said Bella looks to be almost four months along in her pregnancy already. Before she called, I noticed one of the med supply duffles was gone. I'm sorry honey, but Leah can't come back." They were both in tears. Seth had relayed everything to the pack. Sam has forbidden anyone from contacting Leah or Bella, they are on their own.
Leah hung up the payphone outside of Seattle. They had told Charlie they were going camping to get away for a couple of days. Leah had dropped Charlie's gear off at her home and grabbed a medical supply duffle for severe emergencies. It had everything they needed. They were going to stay in Seattle for a night then head to Montana. Bella had one of Cullen's credit cards to use in case of emergencies. This is such an emergency. She paid for the room in the hotel they were staying in and pulled out as much cash as she could. Bella was able to withdraw a little under $5,000. The black credit card had no limit. She knew the Cullens' had money, she probably didn't even put a dent in their account. However, that does not mean she was going to abuse it.
The Uley Pack and Quileute Tribe were at a standstill. Billy, Sue, and the elders have come to the decision that Leah is a deserter and has been cut out of the tribe. Sam and Jake will be keeping their ears to the ground for Bella and that thing she is carrying. They will not be satisfied until they are found and that thing is dead. Seth will not disobey his alpha but he will try to contact Leah to make sure she is alright. Sue may agree with the elders, however, if Leah calls saying she needs help, she will drop everything. Charlie has been kept in the dark about everything until they find Bella, he is not privy to the situation.
Montana
Before leaving Seattle, Bella and Leah went to a car dealership. It was going to be an expensive purchase, but they would less likely be caught by anyone if they had their own vehicle. They were walking around the lot trying to figure out the best vehicle for long-distance travel, safety, and comfort, and maybe have the ability to go off-road. Bella was looking at a Honda Civic when a dainty, pale hand pointed to the Toyota 4-Runner, "That would be my choice." Bella gasped, "Rosalie?" Turning to the Cold One standing next to her. "I'm not here to harm you. We noticed some transactions on the card Eddy gave you and we wanted to make sure it was you using it." Rosalie got a good look at Bella. Even with the baggy overcoat, she could still see the baby bump. "Bella, how..how are you doing, really?" Rosalie swallowed the lump in her throat. She was concerned for Bella, also jealous. "I'm exhausted. She is growing faster than I expected. Leah and I ran from the pack. They want to kill my daughter because she is half Cold One."
Rosalie is furious, "Keep the card. Use it however you need it. The guys are inside signing the contract for the 4-Runner. Now that we know why you're in Seattle with one of the mu...wolves, we will do what we can. All I ask is, will you send pictures of the little one?" Rosalie surprised Bella by wrapping her arms around her and giving her a hug. When Rosalie brushed against Bella's belly, she was shocked to hear and see the little one, "Hi, Aunt Rosie." If Rosalie could cry she would be sobbing. Jasper felt her emotional distress, so they finished up and met up with them.
Jasper and Emmett came out from inside the dealership. Emmett embraced his distraught wife from behind since she hasn't let go of Bella yet. "Baby? What happened?" Emmett tried to peel his wife off of Bella but she wasn't budging. Bella let him know, "My daughter spoke to her." Emmett's eyebrows disappeared into his hairline. Rosalie moved to grab Emmett's hands and put them on Bella's belly, "Uncle Emm." She showed him the same images as his wife. His booming laugh could have been heard back in Forks. "Hello, little one." Emmett was a beaming, proud uncle. Emmett was finally able to remove his wife, who turned in his arms and hid her face wanting so desperately to cry.
Jasper wanted to speak with Leah about her plans with Bella and the child. He had found her on the other side of the lot, still close enough to get to Bella if need be but far enough from the Cold Ones presence. "I was not expecting to find Bella with you. Jacob maybe, but not you. Nonetheless, I am glad she has you. Judging by Rose's emotions and what I felt from Bella, things are going to change drastically soon." Jasper spoke with a sense of concern with a hint of arrogance. Leah smirked, "That they are. And I'm with her because the pack wants the child dead. The little girl already knows more than she should. We know what lies ahead won't be easy, but it will be worth it." Jasper nods his head. "Why don't we join the others? Your vehicle should be ready." Jasper led a confused Leah towards the rest of the group.
Emmett handed Leah the keys to the dark blue 4-Runner, "It's paid for. This is the dealership we come to when we want a new toy. It's in Jasper's name, with your's and Bella's name has the other drivers." "Thank you," Leah stuck her hand out for Emmett to shake. She shook hands with him and Jasper, but Rosalie hugged her and whispered, "Take care of them." Leah nodded her head against Rosalie's shoulder. They parted ways after discussing what to do after the birth of the child. The Cold Ones heading to Denali, Alaska. Leah and Bella drove in the direction of Montana. Hoping to make it to an isolated cabin in time for the baby to be delivered.
As the pregnancy progressed, Bella became weaker and weaker. She could hardly stay awake, let alone walk or drive. By the time they reached Corwin Springs, Montana three days later, Bella looked to be eight months pregnant and had lost a lot of body fat. Leah was trying to get them to Gardiner. It was a small town with a population of 900, near the northern entrance to Yellowstone National Park. The furthest away from LaPush, the better. So far, Leah hasn't sensed Sam or Jacob anywhere near them. Her brother, Seth has contacted her through the link once, trying to check on Leah. She had learned that the pack will not actively track them if Leah just killed Bella and the child. Leah refused.
"One more day, Bella. We're almost there," Leah didn't know who she was trying to reassure, Bella or herself. Grabbing hold of the dashboard, Bella tried to sit up. She felt a sudden gush between her legs like she emptied her bladder. Screaming in pain from the intense, sudden contractions, "Aahh! Leah, this baby isn't going to wait any longer."
Leah was panicking, she had hoped they would make it to a cabin or at least a hotel. Leah looks out the windshield at the horizon showing a setting sun. There wasn't anything for miles and very few cars on the highway. Bella grunted loudly in pain, gripping the arms of her seat. She was panting, trying to ride out the contractions. Bella felt so weak, and tired, but she wasn't going to quit. Bella was going to deliver her baby if it's the last thing she does. Her daughter was coming into this world quickly, "Leah. Need you to pull over. I already feel like I have to push." Leah could see the side of the highway was wide enough for them to pull over without constricted traffic.
Pulling their 4-Runner over on the shoulder, Leah got out and ran to Bella's side. She opened the door and helped Bella turn her body towards the outside, and strip her soaked pants off. Bella's pants were soaked with Amniotic fluid and blood. Bella looked even more pale, sweaty, panting, and so ready to bare down. Leah grabbed a blanket from the back and positioned it where she was needed telling Bella to push.
After ten minutes of pushing, Bella gave birth to a healthy baby girl on September 11, 2008. Leah wrapped the baby girl in the blanket, only the top of her head and face could be seen. Leah could see this little girl looked more like Bella than the leech. Leah brought the little one closer and sniffed, "She's beautiful. Her scent is strange. Part human, part cold one." Bella's voice weak with exhaustion, "Let me hold her." Leah carefully handed the newborn to Bella, staying right next to them.
Bella smiled at her precious little girl. "You are already so loved, little one." Bella could feel herself slipping away. She looked back and forth between her baby and Leah, "Take care of each other. I love you both." The baby started crying, feeling her mother's life force drain. Bella's grip loosened, Leah was right there to catch the baby. She, too, was crying. Bella was her best friend, and now she's gone. Leah stood by Bella's body, holding the baby, and cried. They knew Bella wasn't going to make it through the pregnancy, but they still hoped.
A crying and squirming baby brought Leah back to reality. She took a few minutes to clean and dress the baby in the back seat. Before leaving Seattle, they had bought everything needed for a baby, diapers, some clothes, bottles and formula, a carrier, and a car seat. Leah and Bella also went through baby names to find the perfect one. They went through so many names before deciding on the little one's full name. Tala Rose Clearwater.
It was risky giving Tala the last name CLearwater with Sam and Jake still looking for any sign of them. However, it would hide Tala from the Volturi. Her first name means "Wolf", her middle name is for her Aunt Rose, and her last name is Clearwater because Leah is the one to raise her. It is a strong name for such a beautiful little girl. When the name finally agreed upon, Tala had spoken to her mother, "I love you, mommy."
Leah placed Tala in her buckled car seat, covered her up to make sure she was comfortable and warm before turning back to her best friend. Not knowing how long she had before Tala would wake or someone pass by, Leah began to wrap Bella up in a blanket. Leah was to head to the nearest payphone and call Jasper. They felt it was only right to bring Bella home to Charlie. A last wish from Bella. She knew it would destroy Charlie and Renee, but she didn't want them spending the rest of their lives looking for their 'missing' daughter. With everyone secured in their places, Leah kept driving to Gardiner, where her new journey with Tala would begin.
