Groceries

I didn't even make it to the credits before I fell asleep. Maybe that's a good thing. I always hated watching the death of The Lost Boys. Max, I didn't care so much about. He could have done things differently with Lucy. He could have dated her, courted her, and then told her what he was, and how he wanted her to join him. She probably would have freaked out at first but eventually came around. And instead of tricking Michael, they could have just waited until Lucy was turned then talked about it. No shove it in his face and scare him. That, I feel, is what made him run. But, it is what it is.

The next morning I woke up still feeling tired. I wanted to get groceries for me and my pups. I didn't want to keep eating out. Not when I could cook for myself. I pulled myself out of bed, took a long hot shower, and got dressed for the day. A black bra, black tank top with a skeleton hand flipping the bird, black skinny jeans, and black work boots. With my dog tags, wallet, Blazer keys, and my pups' leashes.

Finding the grocery store to be kind of busy but still want to shop. I grabbed a cart and headed for the deli section first. Seeing their selection of meat is lacking for my pups, I moved on. I did grab some chicken, pork, hamburger, and steaks for myself. Some fresh vegetables, fruits, some milk, cereal, and all the ingredients I needed to bake some chocolate chip cookies. It was a good trip. I paid for everything then asked the clerk where I could find a butcher shop. The girl gave me directions for the shop, it was only a couple of blocks away. Grabbing the bags, loaded them up in my Blazer and headed for the butchers'. It was a nice, clean, little shop. And not too expensive. When I told the butcher the meat was for my wolves, he thought I was playing a joke. "I need 10 pounds of each hoofed, red meat you got. And I will be back in a few days when they run out." Still not sure if I was telling the truth or not, he wrapped up a total of 40 pounds of Bison, Bovine, and Deer.

It was lunchtime when we got home 10 pounds gone before it was even put away. All the groceries were put away, cooked lunch for me, and relaxed for a while. Deciding to bake some cookies later in the night. Turning on some music and switched on my iPad to do some reading. I was so lost in my book, Sirius had to tap his cold nose on my hand to get my attention. He and Regulus needed to go outside. Standing up and stretching, I look out the window and see the sun has set.

"Okay, potty break then dinner," I let my pups out so they could do their business. I go to the bathroom and do mine, wash my hands, and head to the kitchen to make dinner for everyone. While they were eating their Elk, I made myself some Chicken Teriyaki with white rice. Something simple and I made enough for lunch tomorrow. I put away the leftovers and sit down with the rest. I had turned the music off and opened the windows so hopefully, I could hear when Mikey floated out of his window.

Beach

It was a quiet night beside the crickets. Around 9-ish I heard a guy yelling. "I'll be right back," I said to my pups. I climb the stairs to my room and climb out the window to sit on the roof. I could barely see it was so dark, but I could hear Michael yelling. Then it stops and I could hear a truck plow up their dirt driveway, and Lucy yelling. Staying on my roof a little longer, I hear Grandpa Emerson come home and Michael's dirt bike takes off.

I climb back inside and decide to go to the boardwalk. This may be one of the only times I leave my pups at home. I make sure to let them out first, as I freshen up a little. Pulled my hair into a high ponytail, and freshened my breath. Bringing my pups back inside, "Okay, I'm going to the boardwalk for a couple of hours. You two behave. That means you, Sirius. No chewing through the door. I'll be back soon." I pat my pockets, wallet, keys, iPhone, and earbuds.

I pull up to the boardwalk with music blasting. "Watch Your Back" by Boondox on full blast. I park and dance to the chorus. Several people stop, point, and laugh or bob their heads to the beat. I laugh at myself as I turn down the volume so I don't get blasted out when I start my Blazer later. After getting out, and locking up, I walk to the entrance. Putting in my earbuds so I could listen to my own music as I walk through the crowds.

Riding the Carousel was always fun. Even better while listening to "HomeTown" by Twenty One Pilots but the slowed-down version. It was almost in perfect tune with the motion of the horses. I got off the Carousel and walked towards the beach. "Just Breathe" by Rival & Cadmium came on and I couldn't help but sing along.

I didn't realize I had an audience until I heard laughing come from in front of me. 'Oh Great, Surf Nazis'. There were three of them, all shirtless, with badly colored mohawks and horrible hygiene. They walked closer to me, tried to box me in. I took my earbuds off and put them in my pocket with my phone. I walked backward only to hit the bare chest of a fourth that came up behind me. 'This was planned.' "Look, guys. I don't want any trouble so I'm going to go," I try to turn and walk away, but they continue to block my path.

Three of them laughed as the leader spoke, "We see you don't have your bodyguards. Thought we come say hi." His rancid beer breath almost made me puke. "Well, now you said hi, and I'm leaving." I try to push past them. They won't budge. I look around and I can tell we are on a darker portion of the beach. 'Shit! I walked too far.' I also notice, there's nobody else around. I have no choice but to fight or become their plaything.

The guy behind me grabbed my ponytail and yanked me against his chest. I yelped from the pull. I lifted my foot and brought it back to his shin and dragged it down hard and fast. His shin felt like it was on fire. He let go of my hair to cradle his leg. I pushed him over and ran as fast as I could. They were following me. I ran all the way back to the Boardwalk. I was going to keep running until I reached a crowd so I could get lost in it. I looked over my shoulder and saw they were still following me. Looking forward in time not to collide with a door opening. I veer around it and keep running, not looking back at who opened the door.

I make it to my Blazer, fidget with my keys, and unlock it. I look out my windshield and I see the Surf Nazis arguing with the Lost Boys. I sit up straighter to get a better look. One of the Lost Boys' bikes is knocked over. The Surf Nazis must have knocked it over while chasing me. I would laugh at the situation but I just want to get home. I have a few more days until the attack on Hudson's Bluff.

I return home to a pair of sleeping wolves, only waking long enough to watch me walk through the door. They sensed something was wrong. "I'm okay. Just want to get some sleep. May need music tonight." I make my way through the house and into my bedroom. I took off my boots, emptied my pockets, took a puff from my wax pen, and laid down with my phone plugged in and playing music. "New Beginnings" by Future World Music starts playing and I drift off to sleep.

The next day I spent at home not really doing anything. Some reading, playing video games and double-checking the assembly for the electric gate. I even reassembled to make sure everything still fit together. Then loaded everything into the Blazer so I could just get in and go. Sirius was bored out of his mind. He found a piece of old rope and was chewing it, and shaking it. He even tossed it and chased after it like he was playing fetch by himself. Before we know it, dinner is being served. I kept my windows open while eating, and getting ready for bed.

When I was bringing my pups back inside from doing their thing I heard Michael yell, "Star!" Then his brother Sam, "Don't kill anybody 'till we get back to you!" I sigh, and think 'Finally.' I set my alarm to go off at sunrise. Time to act.

Hudson's Bluff

Hearing my alarm, knowing I can't afford to hit snooze not even once, I get out of bed. Put on some comfortable clothes that I can move in. A pair of black, skinny jeans, a black bra, a grey tank-top, a black zip-up hoodie, and my sneakers. Feed the pups real quick. I would eat but my stomach is in knots. I want to get everything set up and get out of there before the Frogs and Emersons show up. I write a quick note asking the Lost Boys to come to the Wilks' Estates before the Emersons'. This way I could explain and possibly show them what happened. I know they are ruthless vampires and may just kill me, but I'm taking a huge risk going into their home as it is. They will want to know why, who, when, and all that.

"Come on, pups. I need you to watch my back." I pat my leg as I walk out to the Blazer with them behind me. We drove past the Emersons, and I can see the house still looks quiet. It looks like I have time, but I'm going to hurry anyway. The drive to Hudson's Bluff was not pleasant. I felt like I couldn't get there fast enough. We pulled to a stop on top of the cliffs near the wooden steps that were years overdue for maintenance. I climbed down the stairs and into the cave with the car batteries, copper wiring, toggle switch, and the electric fence charger.

I climb down into the main part of the cave, being as quiet as I can. Looking around I see that Star and Laddie are asleep and since the sun is up, so are the vampires. I carry everything over to the opening I want to set up the gate. It is smaller than I thought, which is good. The electric gate will still work. Setting everything down inside the tunnel, I quickly ran back out and up to my Blazer to bring everything else down. Sirius climbed down with me, Regulus stayed with the Blazer. If someone drove up before we left, Regulus was going to howl. The wood and fence were tied together using bungee cords. It made carrying them down a little easier but it was still a struggle. Putting everything together was easy since I rehearsed it. I set the electric fence charger, car batteries, and the toggle switch attached to one of the batteries inside the tunnel with the note, and a quickly scribbled sign saying, 'FLIP THE SWITCH!" Don't want the vampires to electrocute themselves. When I connected the copper wire to the chain-link fence, I was safe. The charger wasn't charged enough yet, but it will be when the teenagers show up.

I stepped back and looked over the gate. It's crude, covers the entire opening, and charging up. The Frogs are in for a shock...literally. I glance over at Star and Laddie and see they haven't moved. I nudge my head towards the exit and Sirius and I leave. Now, we wait.
