Zapped

"Holy shit! Vampire hotel!" Edgar yelled, dancing around the lobby of the sunken hotel. His brother Alan is not too far behind him. Alan approached Star's bed, stake in hand, "I found one." Edgar jumped to stand next to him, "Let's stake her." "Don't touch her. You stay away from her!" Michael yelled at the brothers while being half-carried by Sam. Michael let go of his brother to get Star out of the cave. "Star? I'm taking you out of here." Mike shook her as he spoke. "Take Laddie first, please." Star rolled over and went back to sleep.

The Frog brothers and Sam continued to look around the lobby for signs of where the vampires slept. Alan had approached what looked like a fence. "Hey, guys. Look. That probably leads to where they sleep," Alan didn't fully pay attention or he would have heard the faint buzzing coming from the electricity running through the fence. His bare fingers grasped the chain link fence for a mere second before he filled with several thousand volts of electrical current.

It took both Sam and Edgar to pull his smoldering hand away from the fence. They both were zapped as well. Alan was unconscious, drooling, and he had bitten his tongue. The three boys dropped to the uneven floor of the cave, Edgar and Sam held Alan upright. "Damn, vampires. We're going to have to come up with another plan." Edgar said through clenched teeth. He and Sam picked up Alan and half carried him out. At the Emerson household, Alan came to with a sore tongue, a burnt hand, and still a little uneasy on his feet.

Once Edgar knew his brother was going to be okay, they started planning their attack. Sam had convinced Grandpa that he had a date with Widow Johnson. Sam and the Frog brothers visited Lucy and tried to tell her what's going on but she didn't believe him. Then they barged into a church and filled canteens with Holy Water. Sam chopped up Garlic and put it into the bathtub with some of the Holy Water. Michael, Star, and Laddie slept until the sun went down. When they woke, Star knew David would be pissed and come for them. Michael helped block the windows and doors the best they could. The further the sun dropped below the horizon, the more anxious the Emersons got.

Awake/Reveal

The sun has fully set. The vampires wake fully energized for the night. As each vampire dropped from the rafters where they slept, they caught a whiff of burnt flesh. Moving through the tunnel, David and Dwayne stopped before the crudely erected fence. The stench came from the area surrounding this fence. Dwayne was looking over the fence as David backtracked a few feet. He picked up the torn-off top of a pizza box, "Flip the switch." David looked down at the car batteries and saw a toggle in the 'On' position. Switching the toggle to 'Off'. Dwayne was able to push the fence over. But not without getting a little zapped from leftover juice, "Fuck." He shook his hand out. It felt like he had been shocked by static electricity.

David noticed a second, smaller note near the batteries. He picked it up and entered the lobby. Paul and Marko were right behind him watching the whole thing, not sure what to make of it. When they were all in the lobby, the vampires were able to smell that there were four unfamiliar scents. Paul went to check on Laddie and Star, "They're gone. Michael must have come and got them. But what was up with that?" Paul pointed to the fallen chain link.

David lit a smoke and sat in his wheelchair and opened the note.

"Hey boys. You don't know me, but I know of you. Sorry for invading your space, but it had to be done. If you want to know why, please come to the Wilks' Estates so I can explain."

He threw the note down, leaned his elbows on his knees, and looked at the fence. "What do you think? It could be a trap?" "I say we go and see what's up," Paul voiced with an unlit joint hanging from his lips. Marko moved his thumb away from his teeth, "The Wilks' next door to Mikey's. If we head there, I say we fly and catch whoever, off guard. Look around the place first." With a plan in place, the vampires flew from the cave and towards the Wilks' Estates.

I had Twiztid on full blast, singing along to "FTS" when my pups alerted me to someone coming up to the house. I didn't even bother to turn it down as I opened the door and saw nobody standing there, "Ollie, Ollie." I knew it was them. I closed the door, went back up to the den, and waited. As I was waiting I switched the tv from the music library to my desktop where my movies are saved. I skipped through the Lost Boys movie and paused it right when the Frogs entered the cave.

I set down the tv remote and heard a knock on the front door. Sirius trotted behind me. My pups didn't mind the vampires and won't attack unless the vampires attack first. I open the door and all four of them are standing there. They looked like they're relaxed, but I know better. They're ready to pounce at any moment. "Oh, good. You made it. Come on in," I knew what I was doing when I invited them in. I stepped away from the door and headed to the stairs. David's voice stopped me, "Why should we trust you?" I looked over my shoulder, "Because you're curious."

I continue to walk upstairs and back into the den. I could hear them come up the stairs and stop. Sirius was in the way with what was left of the frayed rope in his mouth. I sigh, "Sirius, move your butt. Play later." He whined a little but walked away. The four vampires came into the den cautiously looking back at Sirius, "Sorry about him. He's bored out of his mind. Please, have a seat." They didn't say anything, just sat down around the room and waited for me. David sat in the recliner, Dwayne sat at the end of the loveseat while Paul and Marko took the couch in the center.

"First things first, no matter what you see, do not destroy anything. Try your best to watch it all the way through, then I'll explain what I know and answer questions." I stopped talking for a moment before laughing at myself. "I sounded like a teacher for a moment. Anyways, on with it. Again, please don't destroy anything." I hit play and moved to the side to lean against the wall.

They watched me for a moment until Edgar Frog's voice was heard. They sat there and watched as the Frogs' hopped around the lobby. They watched as Michael woke Star and she told him to take Laddie first. I saw Dwayne's jaw tighten as the boy was carried out. I watched as all four of them got anxious as Alan, Edgar and Sam found the entrance to where they slept. I watched them watch Michael carry Star out of the cave. I could see David's fist clench even tighter. Then the hard part. I looked down as they watched on-screen Marko get staked. Marko stood up and yelled at the tv, "WHAT THE FUCK!" Paul pulled him back down next to him on the couch.

They continued to watch as the teenagers got ready for the remaining vampires to retaliate. The Holy Water and Garlic filled bathtub, Holy Water squirt guns, bow and arrows, the stakes, and the boarding up of the windows. They watched it all. They watched their on-screen doubles wake and fly directly to the Emersons. Paul was the next to react as he watched his on-screen double melt away in the bathtub, "A dog. A Fucking dog!" Dwayne was a little smug when Sam missed but the smugness faded after the second shot.

David and his boys watched silently as on-screen David went toe-to-toe with Michael, only to be impaled by antlers. He glared at me before turning back to the screen. When Max came onto the screen, all four of them growled. Regulus came into the den, thinking the vampires were growling at me. I crouched down to pet him and whisper, "I'm okay. It's not me they're growling at." Regulus nods his head and goes into the closest guest room, so he can keep near me without being too close.

When on-screen Max showed no remorse towards his boys' death, the vampires in the room scoffed. Like they knew that was what his reaction would be. They watched as Max told his story about wanting all of them. How he wanted Lucy, Michael, and Sam to join him and his boys. How even though his boys were gone he still wanted Lucy. Then they watched as Grandpa Emerson drove his truck into his own house and staked Max with a fence post sending him into the fireplace and bursting into flames. They watched as Grandpa Emerson opened a root beer and said his closing line, "The one thing about Santa Carla I couldn't stomach, all the damn vampires."

I shut off my tv and introduced myself, "My name is Jenn. I'm from an alternate dimension in the year 2021. Where you lot are the antagonist of a movie. As you can see, you don't survive. I was brought here from my dimension by Matthius, the vampire who sired Max. And he is pissed." Marko was the first to stand and come closer to me, "You knew. You knew, and you didn't say anything?" I could tell he was moments away from vamping out. I looked him in the eyes and said, "If I would have approached you that first night you saw me and told you everything, would you have believed me?" I pause for a moment. Noting how they have not really moved since I turned off the tv except for Marko. I was expecting them to kill me before the movie was over.

"Right now, at this moment. The Emersons are waiting for you guys to strike. I watched them prep that house in the same manner as the movie. As you guys are sitting here, listening to me, they're growing more and more anxious." I took a breath and calmed myself down before I went on a rant. "Matthius brought me here to prevent you four from dying undeservingly. He actually sat in my living room and talked to me as if I was an old friend. Telling me that he has tried to break Max away from his humanity. Trying to get Max to let you boys live how you want to, not to be treated like children in need of discipline. Nothing worked so he outsourced, so to speak. And as invasive as it was by coming into your cave and setting up that electric gate, I thought it was the better option. To stay in the background until the right time."

I started to feel like I couldn't breathe. Like the onset of a panic attack, but my heart rate hadn't changed. Of course, it could be the overly tight sports bra I put on. I was purposely trying to make my chest seem smaller so hopefully, the vampires would listen to me and not stare at my tits the entire time. I know it's not a big deal to some, but guys will be guys, vampires or not. I couldn't take it anymore, "Excuse me for a moment. I need to get out of this restrictive garment." I walked to my room, closed the door, and stripped out of my shirt and bra, walking into my closet for a better, looser shirt.

I turned to leave my closet and get jump-scared, "AH! Don't do that." Paul stood in my path with a shit-eating grin on his face. I clasp my right hand to my chest, trying to catch my breath. "I'm going to put a bell around your neck," I scowled at him. Paul just laughs at me, gives me a slow once-over before he steps to the side so I can walk out. He follows me back out to the den. I couldn't see him but judging by Marko's Cheshire grin, Dwayne's once-over, and David's raised eyebrow, Paul was gesturing about my tits. I ignored the whole thing and got the conversation back on track.

"However, as of now, I have no clue what will happen next. At least now, you guys somewhat know what to expect." I stood against the wall and crossed my arms. David broke the silence, "We came here thinking you were with Michael and planned on killing all of you." They all watched me and waited for a reaction. I did not give them the satisfaction. I knew I risked dying when I walked into that cave, and I still could so why fear the inevitable.

Dwayne asked, "Why an electric fence?" I smiled and shrugged my shoulders, "I thought it would be funny to fry some Frogs." Paul and Marko laughed a little, Dwayne and David just smirked.

David stood from his seat, "So, you want to come with us?" The other three looked at me wanting to know my answer. I thought it over, "And do what, exactly?" David smirked as he walked closer to me, "Mess with the neighbors." "Sure. Why not?" I shrugged. I led the way down the stairs. Sirius and Regulus were near the front door. "Come here pups," I called them to me. "You two stay here unless you hear the command. Okay?" I pet both of them. I think the four vampires were surprised they didn't receive a growl from either wolf. Marko even stopped and had a staring contest with Sirius. I laughed at the two of them, "They won't attack unless you hurt me."

The five of us walked the short distance through the adjoining yards to the Emerson house. Nanook was still tied up on the fence at the end of the walkway. I was next to David, "What about Nanook?" "If we keep quiet, we can sneak past," David told me. Hinting for me to keep quiet.

We came as close to the house as we could get without being seen. I can tell the vampires were itching to get inside and kill them all. I grabbed David's elbow, and whisper, "I have an idea." He leans over so I can whisper it to him. My idea is to reenact the scene from The Conjuring where Carolyn is plagued by the spirit in the basement. I gave him the idea to have the house go dark, except for the fireplace. Keep it dark for the whole time, as the sound of the spirit of a little girl is laughing from everywhere. The laughter stops and then the spirit says, "Want to play hide and clap?" A pair of hands clap loudly right next to every person inside the house.

David snickered as he looked at the house. I watched as all the lights shut off. I could hear some of the people in the house scream in fright. A few moments later, we all heard several girlish shrieks. I couldn't contain my laughter, "That was fun. So what now?" I looked over at a vamped-out David and my smile faded, "I'm bait, aren't I?" They all nod their heads and laugh. I drop my head and huff, "Fine. Just know, I'm a horrible actress."

I take off running the rest of the way through the yard and start screaming like I have been chased the entire time. I run up the front porch and bang on the door, "Let me in. Let me in. Hurry!" The door flew open and I was sprayed with Holy Water...Again. "Now will you let us in?" I asked as I wiped my face off so the teens didn't catch what I said. Sam pulled me in, "Yeah, come on."

I dragged my foot across the door jam slowing my entrance as the vampires pushed past me, "Thanks for the invite." Marko had Sam by the collar. Sam tried his best to punch and kick Marko, but he wasn't phased. The image of his on-screen self getting staked played through his mind, and it fueled his anger towards the boy. Marko really wanted the Frog brothers, but he saw Sam first.

Paul had the Frog brothers in a headlock, one under each arm. Edgar was fighting to get free. Alan was still kind of out of it, not fighting as hard. The way Paul had them locked, they couldn't reach anything in their pockets. Not the stakes, not the squirt guns, and certainly not the cloves of Garlic in the bottom of their pockets. Paul was having fun tormenting the kids. He and Marko have pranked these two many times over the last couple of years. The vampires knew these two could be trouble but Max told them not to worry about them.

Dwayne held Star with her arm pinned behind her back. The harder she struggled, the tighter his grip. He whispered in her ear, "You were supposed to be one of us. You betrayed us, and for what? A teenage crush that probably won't last the rest of the summer." His free hand yanked on her riotous curls. Star had tears running down her face, "I never wanted this." Dwayne pulled her face closer to his and licked the side of her face before whispering in her ear, "Liar."

David stood in front of Michael. They stared at each other for a few moments. Not paying attention to anything around them. David smirked as Michael broke away first. "I gave you a gift. The gift of living forever, no worries, no responsibilities. And you spat in my face by bringing these wannabe hunters to kill us as we sleep!" David's voice got louder as he spoke. Michael flinched and tried to step back. David grabbed Michael by the throat and lifted him up, his feet dangling off the floor. "Are you going to kill us, David?" Michael choked out. "Not yet," David gave Mike an evil, fangy smile. Star yelled, "What are you waiting for?"

I moved out of the way and headed for the stairs. I knew Laddie had to be hiding under one of the beds. I searched two of the bedrooms and found him under Sam's bed. "Hey, Laddie. You remember me?" Laddie was on his stomach, kind of squished between the bed and the floor. He looked at me and nodded his head, "You have the pretty dogs." I smiled at him, "That's right. Sirius has been wanting to play with you. Why don't you and I go play with him? I live right next door." He crawled out from under the bed slowly, "What about Star?" "What are you waiting for?" I heard Star yell.

That was my cue to walk back downstairs. I held out my hand for Laddie to take, "It's just going to be us for a bit." He took my hand and we walked down the stairs and into the living room. I smiled and nodded to the boys. I led Laddie out the front door. I could hear David tell the room, "Now? Where were we?" When he said 'we', it sounded deeper, almost demonic. I pulled Laddie along a little faster as the screaming started.

We made it back to my house, and I let him in. My wolves perked up as I walked through the door. Sirius got even more excited when he saw Laddie. He jumped playfully to the boy. I looked at Laddie, "See? I told you Sirius wanted to play with you." I let go of his hand and Laddie ran up to Sirius. Before they could start to play rough, I handed Laddie a tennis ball, "Here. He tends to play too rough sometimes. Don't want you getting hurt. Just toss it down the hallway." I went into the kitchen for a glass of water, listening to them play. I walk back into the foyer to keep an eye on them.

It was about two hours later when Laddie stopped playing and doubled over and fell to the floor. I rushed to his side, "Laddie? Are you okay?" He laid on the floor and groaned. I picked him up and put him on the couch and sat down. I put his head in my lap and stroked his hair, "It's alright. Just lay still for now." I kept running my fingers through his hair. It wasn't long before he fell asleep. Sirius and Regulus laid on the floor by my feet. I must have dozed off too.

I woke up not that much later to four vampires staring at me. I rubbed my eyes with my free hand, "You guys really need bells around your necks. Seriously." They chuckled a little. Opening my eyes to wake up some more, I looked at them more closely. David looked tired, and a little bruised. He had some scorch marks on his coat. Dwayne had healing claw marks running down his chest and he was missing the necklace he always wore. Marko was cradling his left arm as the bone set itself and started to heal. He also had a split lip and swollen eye, but that too was healing. Several claw marks covered Paul's face and chest. His mesh top was torn up and bloody.

They had quite a few injuries, but at the same time, they looked free.

"You guys alright?" I asked. I didn't get a straight answer, just grunts. "Fair enough. You're welcome to stay here. I have black-out curtains upstairs in all the bedrooms." Paul looked at me funny, "Why?" "I don't like waking up with sun rays in my face. Plus it saves energy." I sit with my head facing the ceiling. "Where and when I'm from, the world has gone to shit. I'm glad I'm here. The cost of living is outrageous. There's a food shortage. And to top it off, the earth has been suffering from a global pandemic for almost two years. Right before I was transported...Shifted...Whatever here, a new and more deadly variant started spreading. Even vaccinated people were getting sick." I sat up a little, trying not to disturb Laddie, "I still feel awkward going outside without a mask on." I put my right hand over my face, imitating the mask.

I didn't ask what happened. I don't think I needed to. The vampires seemed to be healing and lost in thought. The only sound in the room is Laddie's snoring. When Regulus sat up, he made everyone jump. I looked at him and his now standing brother, "Outside?" They both nodded their heads. I carefully picked up Laddie's head and laid it down. "Alright, come on." I didn't realize I was being followed until two of the vampires were standing next to me.

I kept an eye on my pups as I talked, "A friend of mine ran a sanctuary for wolves and hybrids. Those two are a product of an accidental litter. Dad was half Husky, half wolf, and the mom was all wolf. She rejected the litter. But they survived. Since the mom didn't want them, the pack rejected them. When they were old enough to not have to be bottle-fed, I adopted them. I was still in the military at the time. I took them with me everywhere I went and trained them. It took a little under two years for them to understand how to answer yes or no to their basic needs. But it makes things a little easier."

"You talk a lot, don't you?" Marko asked. I laughed, "Sometimes. When I'm anxious. Or to answer a question thoroughly. You guys looked shocked when they answered me." I could see my pups coming back to us. Sirius had something dangling from his mouth. As he got closer I could see it was a snake. "Sirius! You're supposed to play with a rope, not a nope-rope." Sirius shook his head, causing the snake to wiggle and twirl. Then he tossed his head to the side and opened his mouth, sending the snake flying back into the yard. "Nope. I'm going back inside. And away from the Danger Noodle," I motioned for my pups to follow me. Paul and Marko came inside after me, laughing at what I said. Paul plopped down on the other side of the couch, "She called a snake a 'Danger Noodle'." He made air quotes for Danger Noodle. David and Dwayne joined in the laughter.

The room became quiet once again. "Well, I don't know about you guys, but I'm exhausted. A snack first." I walked into the kitchen for a bowl of cereal, and it was just my luck the bowls were on the top shelf. "Why is it that short people become ballerinas when trying to reach the top shelf?" I was mostly whining to myself as I was standing on the tips of my toes, but the vampires in the other room heard me. All four of them laughed at me. I guess it's better than them wanting to kill me. I stretch and get the bowl down and pour myself some cereal. I stand at the counter and eat.

My chewing stopped when Paul walked into the kitchen, "I was thinking. Why help us? We kill people almost every night. Hell, we still might kill you, why help us?" "People kill people all the time. You guys do it to survive. I mean, you may play with your food first, but ultimately it's for your survival. And I know you could. But I'm not afraid of death, haven't been for years." I looked down at my half-full bowl of cereal and lost my appetite. Dumping what was left into the garbage disposal, washed the bowl and spoon, and put them away.

Paul was still standing there going over what I said, "You've killed people, haven't you?" I looked him in the eyes and answered honestly, "Several. Not proud of it. I did what I had to do to survive." I gave him a small smile and walked past him. He followed slowly behind me. Judging by the moods of the others, they heard everything.

I walk into the living room and see that Laddie has been moved. Dwayne came back downstairs, "He's in a guest room. I hope that's alright?" I nod, "I did extend the invitation. What's going to happen to him now that he's human again?" Dwayne shrugged his shoulders, "Not sure. He was too young in the first place." The room was too quiet for me, "So, I'm off to bed. Again, you're welcome to stay." I leave the room, head into my bedroom, and close the door. I knew I was taking a risk, letting them stay inside my house. I changed out of my jeans into some light grey, booty-shorts. I put my iPhone next to me on the bed and turned on some music. The first song that comes on is "Tokyo" by Skeler.

The four vampires were sitting around my living room thinking about what to do next. David stood up and went upstairs, not listening to his brothers calling his name. He barged into my room, and stood next to my bed, "Tell me something? Why did Matthius pick you? He could have chosen anybody, why you?" I was laying on my side facing the door when he came into my room. I reached over and turned the volume down on my music. "He said it was because I was just surviving. I wasn't living. I'm strategic and logical. My plan was simple, and it worked. I think Matthius knew how this was going to play out before I did. The last thing he said to me was, 'Have fun. This is your life now, live it to the fullest.' Why do you ask?" David smirked, "No reason." Then strutted out of my room, leaving the door open. I tried my best to fall asleep after that little talk, 'Wonder what that was about?'

I fell asleep when "Art of Silence" by UniqOfficial started playing.

AN: One more chapter. Should Laddie stay? Should I turn, be their mate, or be killed?
