"Ohh best mom in the world, your ball of emerald sunshine is here" Izuku sang as he entered his home.
"Ohhhh there's my style child" Inko happily embraced her child, she loved Izuku, he rarely failed to make her happy and for that, she strived to always support him, whether he wants to be a musician, designer, courier or his most recent aspiration, being a hero.
Izuku entered his room, the best way to describe it was stylish, with a section dedicated to his music with guitars lining the walls and a laptop that he used to edit music.
Another section was a bunch of different coloured clothes, some were stitched, some had paint and coloured wool sewn in to create a unique design.
The last section of his room was a mixture of quirk laws and hero notes, at one side was the book of liberation by destro, Izuku agreed with most things in the book and even did a report on it in school, though he failed because apparently it inspired Revolution or terrorism.
Izuku went to the designer section where he took out a bunch of shirts.
"I'm feeling pink polo shirt, purple denim vest with…" Izuku looked through his pants selection "...pants with fades"
This was Izuku's super style suit, or rather one of them since 'style comes in variation'.
Izuku's quirk is based on style and appearance is a large factor so when he developed his quirk, Izukuw away everything that he would describe as plain.
At first he wanted to be a musician, because he always had a knack for it, and if he's listening to music while using his quirk? "Well let's save that for a more convenient time" Izuku said as he mixed and matched sounds on his laptop.
One problem that came is he can't help but want to run or just move with his quirk when he hears music, so he quit trying to persue a career because it would just end up in him going to jail for multiple counts of illegal quirk usage.
His next choice of career was design, he enjoyed making things pop and look important like a protagonist in a show would always look brighter or just different enough to stand out, and Izuku loved standing out.
But after working in a shop that did designs, he left after he felt the vibe, and so he figure he should have a career that allows him to use his quirk, and honestly courier sounded pretty fun, you grab a package and deliver it as fast as you can and you get to use your quirk if it gives you a speed boost.
However after reading up on quirk laws and quirk licences he found that he could only use it in specific areas at specific times and he'd have to sell his kidneys in order to afford the annual renewal fee.
And so, Izuku turned to heroics, and some heroes are also singers and designers, something Izuku will always be annoyed about, he couldn't use his quirk but a guy who could shoot lasers out his eyes can, just cause he went to a hero school for 4 years.
Izuku disliked the law regarding quirks and always used his as his little rebellion against an aged system.
"Oh sweet mother I'm going out, anything you want from the shops?" Izuku asked as he went for the door.
"Oh we are out of milk, thank you sweetie" Inko smiled at her son.
Ever since his quirk manifested he never stopped using it, no matter how many fines he got, and Inko remembers how sad he would get when she would have to pay it, and would always go out and help people for some money so he could pay her back.
She was also aware of his thoughts on the law, as he voiced them to every officer who scolded him and to some poor heroes who didn't learn how to deal with passionate rants by Izuku.
One thing that hurt her the most was when Izuku found out that all his aspirations were unachievable because the laws regarding quirks and she would never forget when he found out the fee for a quirk licence.
But through it all, he never gave up he would always keep moving
"With style, anyway mom thanks for the backstory, I'll be back in a couple hours"
"Huh?" Inko asked but Izuku was already gone, just Izuku being Izuku she guessed.
Izuku stood atop a building looking at the city, his playground, he could feel the style running through him, pink was a good choice, really amps him up.
Quickly securing his headphones he felt the style go wild at every beat of the music, he couldn't help but move in accordance to the beat
"Style is a leap of faith" a wise man once said, well no one has said it but I'm sure someone has and they were probably wise
Izuku took out his crowbar and ran to the edge of the building before jumping off.
Izuku reached out with his crowbar as it connected to a cable running between buildings, with his quirk, the cable wouldn't break and there would be no damage done.
He pulled himself up on the cable allowing him to grind on it, yet again there was not any damage, his shoes will still be as pristine.
As he began to gain speed, the style in him boosted to Style 2.
He jumped off the cable and performed a power slide across a building, not even smudging the windows.
This is what he meant, he is always told that his use of his quirk can risk damages yet there are no damages, it's honestly unfair.
He then felt his style fade slightly "anger is never stylish" he said as he slid down the building onto the street where a lanky blonde guy was struggling to carry his shopping.
"Damn it, why did I run out of time during a shopping spree" Toshinori muttered as he struggled to carry the now heavy bags of grocery's mostly things that could go in a juicer.
However he saw that same kid again sliding down a building in a colourful outfit that really stood out on this grey day, he had an irritated look on his face but when he saw Toshinori he paused.
"You aren't by any chance a hero hidden in plain sight or a tattletale" Toshinori sweatdropped at that, this boy had no idea how close he was.
"Just someone minding their own business" Toshinori smiled but was surprised when the boy took some of the bags off his hands.
"Well I'll help you with these, and you'll stay quiet and give me some money" Toshinori couldn't help the bloody bout of laughter that came as a result of this kid's attitude.
After waving off the kid's concern he spoke.
"Deal, but you will be paid if you tell me why you look so sad?" Toshinori asked, he may not be big and powerful but he is still the number one hero, and there is someone who needs to be saved right in front of him.
"I'm not sad" Izuku spoke as if offended "being sad isn't stylish" he added before continuing.
"I'm just tired of this hypocrisy regarding quirk laws, I always want to use my quirk but apparently it's dangerous to myself and everyone around me? It's my quirk, I'll decide if it's dangerous not some outdated rules"
Izuku demonstrated his quirk by jumping on a bin which bounced him to the top of the building before he grinded across a cable leading to a wooden pole which he spun down like a fireman going down a pole, before landing back next to Toshinori who was simply amazed by this kid's ability but mostly since he did it while still holding onto the bags.
"Well there are laws for a reason" Toshinori added his perspective, "some people's quirks could be dangerous"
"Yeah, some people like Endeavour or All Might, but what about me? My quirk just allows me to do cool tricks that ignore gravity and physics" Izuku ranted not seeing the sweat drop down Toshinori's forehead.
"Now I have to be a stupid hero just so I can have freedom, but that means I'll need to enforce this aged syst-oh yeah mom needs milk" Izuku remembered half way through his sentence as he entered the store which threw Toshinori off completely as he dumbly followed the child who still carried his groceries.
"Sorry for losing myself there mister, I just get passionate about things like this" Izuku apologized to Toshinori as he bowed
"Uhh it's quite all right young man, so you want to be a hero?" Toshinori asked as Izuku went through the self serve.
"I don't want to be one, I just want to use my quirk without being labeled a Villain, I actually wanted to be a musician but music affects my quirk so, goodbye StyleKing" Izuku said as a gunshot was heard.
"CAN YOU STOP IGNORING ME, THIS IS A ROBBERY" a crook said a he pointed his gun at both Izuku and Toshinori.
"How did we walk into a robbery and not notice it?" Izuku asked the robber.
"You tell me I've been trying to get your attention since you came in" The robber replied as he pointed them to the floor. Where they sat.
"I feel so useless" Toshinori muttered, annoyed at his time limit.
"Not much we can do, plus people rob stores because they need money, so it's kind of understandable" Izuku reasoned.
"Can't he just get a job?" Toshinori asked as Izuku starting giggling before it turned into full on laughter.
"Oi oi oi, what so funny" the crook asked the laughing Izuku who tried to speak but ended up laughing harder so he pointed to Toshinori.
"I uhh just said why you don't just get a job" Toshinori spoke despite the still laughing Izuku.
The crook then giggled before removing his glove, which showed a scale like look to it.
"It's like this everywhere on my body, let's just say I don't have a friendly look, so of course I got fired from my last job and most jobs already think I'm a crook so might as well be one" the crook explained with a tired voice.
"Well I think you are unique and you deserve better" Izuku spoke up as he gave his money over to the crook, before looking at the stunned Toshinori or his original payment which Toshinori obliged.
After bidding the happy crook farewell, Izuku looked at the still shocked Toshinori, "this is how most small time villains are created" Izuku said as he looked back at the retreating crook.
"I'm pathetic" Toshinori said with a fire in his eyes,
"Well I mean-" Izuku wasn't able to finish as All Might continued
"To think I was fighting to stop this, only to be on the wrong side, I'm sorry young man, I must go, there is something I must do" Toshinori took the bags and walked with more purpose.
"The name is Izuku Midoriya! Remember it in case it's convenient in the future"
"Toshinori Yagi" he yelled back. "I hope to see you again, you have opened my eyes".
"What a weird guy?" Izuku said as he looked at himself "yeah fair enough".
Hello first the way I played sunset overdrive was as a colourful character to match the colourful setting so hope you don't mind that.
Also I also interpreted sunset overdrive as a game of complete freedom and so of course Izuku will be affected by quirk laws.
Anyway please share your thoughts, or don't, you can do what you want.
