A/N: This is coming at a hard time in my life. I'm very out of it right now because I've had to make some tough choices. I think it's for the best though. I hope this little present of a one-shot can make you happy. Enjoy.

OOOOOOOOOOOO

David could hear voices outside the dark space he was cramped in. Almost all were female, barring the one overly gay man that had been invited over. He heard Calli make an inquiry about a cake.

The things I do to make her feel better…

Upon hearing the cue words, David popped out of the black cake that he'd crammed himself into. Calli looked shocked as she sat in her arm chair, surrounded by her coworkers. David smirked at her and climbed out of the cake.

"David?" Calli breathed, staring at him.

David winked and slowly moved up to her. "Happy Anniversary of name change," he said, shrugging out of his coats.

Calli paled a even whiter ivory color.

Oh yes, Calli. I'm going to do that.

Just as he was about to go to work on his shirt, Calli jumped to her feet and grabbed his right hand.

"David, can I talk to you?" she asked, looking up at him. "In private?"

"Oh come on, Calli," one of her coworkers said, swirling her drink around. "He was about to start getting to the good stuff."

David searched Calli's eyes and saw the pain in them. He tightened his grip on her hand and pulled her from the room and into the kitchen. Calli managed to slide her hand out of his grasp and walked over to the kitchen island, head bowed.

"Calli, start talking or your friends will be missing out on quite a show."

Calli shook her head. "It's all a lie."

"What is?" David asked.

The Goth looked at him with watery eyes, leaning back against the island. "That they're my friends…David, those girls and Daniel want nothing to do with me. They're just…coworkers." A tear slipped down her cheek. "They talk about me behind my back and pretend to like me in front of the boss."

David narrowed his eyes. "How do you know this?"

"I caught them making fun of me," Calli announced, reaching into her pocket and withdrawing her phone. She handed it to him after unlocking it. "Melody accidentally sent me a message that was meant for the others. Here."

David took the phone and read the message. He saw words in it that he didn't like attributed to his Lost Girl. Words that he had killed people for when he heard them spewed on the boardwalk. Those were the lies. Those were the poison that corrupted his Lost Girl's mind.

The leader of the Lost Boys deleted the message thread and moved over to his girl. He cupped her face between his hands and smoothed his thumbs over her cheeks, brushing away her tears. David pressed soft kisses to her forehead and the tip of her nose before grazing her lips.

"Let me deal with them," David whispered.

"You can't kill them," Calli whispered back, looking up at him. "It'll solve nothing."

"No, but it would make me feel better," David muttered, stroking her face again. "And the Boys are pretty much begging for a turn."

Calli gave him a hard look, or as hard of a look as she could with watering eyes. David rolled his own eyes and dropped his hands away from her face.

"All right, fine. I won't kill them," David said, taking her hand again. "I'll just scare them."

Calli stomped her foot, which was adorable, but David wasn't easily swayed. He turned and walked out of the kitchen, back into the living room. The girls there let out a cheer and Daniel swayed up to him.

"C'mon David," he purred. "Let's see some skin!"

David caught the man by the throat and squeezed just enough to wipe that stupid smile off the man's face. Daniel dropped his drink and tried to free himself from David's grasp, but to no avail. David glared at him, ice blue eyes blazing.

"So it's come to my attention that you fuckers think it's funny to make fun of my girl," David growled, scanning the room's occupants. "To talk about her behind her back and treat her like shit." His eyes flashed. "Does that sound familiar?"

Melody snorted and took a sip of her drink. "It's all in good fun, honey." She looked at him and David sneered at her. "Oh, don't act like you're not just with her because she reliably fills your bed. A man like you, what on earth would you want with someone like her?"

David pointed at Melody. "You know nothing about me or her for that matter, if you think that all of this depends on looks." He growled. "Then again, what would I expect from someone who spends most of her time on her knees?"

Melody dropped her drink and stared at him. "WHAT?! How did you? I never -"

"Save the bullshit. Calli won't have to deal with you lot for much longer."

"David," Calli said in warning.

"Out. Now." David said, looking at the occupants of the room.

Looking nervous, Calli's coworkers hurriedly grabbed their belongings and left. David walked over to the door and locked it, taking a slow breath through his nose. He heard the rustle of plastic and snapped his fingers.

"Don't bother cleaning up," he ordered, turning so that he was looking at Calli in profile. "It's not your job."

"But…" Calli began, looking helplessly around the room.

David was in front of her before she could blink and snatched the trash bag out of her grasp. "No cleaning." He smirked. "Come with me."

Calli looked confused and let him take her by the hand. He guided her upstairs and into her bedroom. Calli stared at him as he twirled her in front of him and put his hand on her hip.

"David…I'm not sure dancing is going to distract me from the fact that you did some freaky mind shit to my coworkers," Calli commented, looking up at him.

"I didn't do anything but send them out," David lied.

Calli looked skeptical. "David, I know you. When I won't let you destroy someone, you fuck with their minds. And that's not how we're supposed to be. You're supposed to be the bigger person."

David laughed. "I am definitely bigger than Melody."

The Lost Girl rolled her eyes and smacked him on the arm. "Be serious."

"No, I don't think I will." David spun her around and spun her back into him. "Seems like you've forgotten who you're talking to."

"An asshole?"

"Always. But I'm your asshole."

Calli rolled her eyes and took a step back. "You're a dork."

David snapped his teeth in her direction and backed her towards the bed. "Still yours. Always yours. Forever and ever and ever." He nudged her onto the bed. "So deal with it."

Calli glared up at him as she sat on the edge of her bed. "You're bossy."

"You like my bossy," David growled, tracing his finger down the curve of her cheek and then putting his hand around her throat. "Especially when I make you feel good."

It didn't take a rocket scientist to know that he'd sparked something into life in Calli. She squirmed and glared at him, but he didn't mind. David flexed his fingers slightly and Calli drew in a breath.

"You're only going to have to deal with me and the Boys being the bossy ones," David announced, looking down at her.

"What about my job boss?"

David said nothing and watched the color drain out of Calli's skin again.

"David! You are not making me lose my job." Calli squirmed again. "You really aren't."

"Oh, is that what you think?"

"David!"

David pressed a kiss to her lips and she tried to bite him. "Sleep."

Calli's body relaxed and the girl's eyes closed. She slumped into him and David smirked. He eased her back onto her pillows and put the blankets over her. David scanned her body and wished that he could change her now. But there was still so much that needed to be done.

Sometime soon…

OOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Calli groaned as her phone rang in the morning. She rolled over and grabbed her phone out of her pocket.

"Yeah?" she asked.

"You need to come in to finalize your resignation from your current position," her boss said.

"My what?!" Calli almost dropped her phone. She narrowed her eyes. "David…"

OOOOOOOOOOOOO

A/N: Please give me some time to get back into writing. I haven't been in the mood and I'm dealing with several issues at once. Plus I might be moving in the coming month. So yay. See you all around. -Scarlet
