A/N: Hi lovelies. I've been kind of out of it for a bit. But I'm back with a brand new one-shot for you to enjoy. Please give it a glance over and let me know what you think at the end.
OOOOOOOOOOO
David angrily puffed on his cigarette, wishing for something stronger. Calli glared right back at him, not backing down like she normally did. Her arms were crossed firmly over her chest and her eyes blazed. He wasn't going to back down either.
"Calli," he growled.
"You know what? Fuck you," Calli ground out. "Fuck you. Fuck everything you stand for." She turned away from him. "I'm out."
She started walking away and David thought about letting her. But no one got off with snarking at him that easily. Not even her.
"Where the hell do you think you're going?" David asked, grabbing her by the arm.
"Away from you," Calli stated, trying to tug herself out of his grasp.
"Not as long as you're human," David reminded her.
"Then you'd better fucking change me," Calli growled at him.
David knew by the brief flash of fear in her eyes that his eyes had taken a golden tinge. "You know why I can't right now, Calli."
Calli let out an exasperated sound and pulled her arm free of his grip. She sprawled on the ground because of her poor balance and glared up at him. One of the security guards that prowled the boardwalk appeared and looked between the two of them.
"Is there a problem?" the man asked, putting a hand on his radio.
"Not as long as you keep him away from me," Calli spat, glaring up at David.
David glared at her and then looked at the security guard. "This is none of your business."
The security guard puffed up. "It is as long as you're on my boardwalk, mister. So I suggest you leave this young lady alone."
Calli stuck her tongue out at David and pushed herself to her feet. "That's okay, sir, I was just leaving."
"Do you need an escort?" the security guard asked and David didn't like his tone.
"No, no. I'll be fine on my own." Calli sent David a look and turned, heading into the crowd. "Bye."
David glared at the security guard, memorizing his scent and relaying all the information to the Boys. They'd take care of him later. But he had other business to attend to, in the form of a very pissy Lost Girl.
OOOOOOOOOO
David had no clue how Calli made it to the front of her townhouse so fast, but it didn't matter. He had still caught up to her before she stuck the key in the lock.
He caged her against the door and brought a hand to her throat, applying just enough pressure to show that he meant business. Calli glared up at him, a challenge in her eyes. If he'd been in the mood to touch her, this would have been a great turn on to see her so confident. But he was so not in the mood.
"Calli," he growled at her. "You walked home without protection…"
"Yeah, well, fuck protection," Calli hissed, squirming against him. "Fuck everything. I'm done. I'm done, okay?"
David was taken aback by the pain in her eyes. How had he not noticed that pain before? True, her stubborn anger had filled those hazel eyes that he loved to look into, but he should have noticed the pain before.
His grip on her neck softened and he brought up his other hand to stroke her cheek. "What's wrong, Calli?"
Calli took a shuddering breath. "I – I don't know." She put a hand on her stomach. "Cramps. Lots of belly pain. And I have a killer headache."
David sighed. I should have known…
He took a slow breath and softened his gaze. "Shark week is approaching."
Calli looked at him, confusion in her eyes. David rolled his eyes and slid his hand down to rest on top of hers.
"Crimson Dragon? Red tide?" David said, sliding his fingers between hers. Calli's eyes widened. "Yeah, I see you've got it now."
Calli looked like she was about to cry. "My body never reacts this way to a…period…" She turned and fit her key into the lock. "No…no…uh-uh."
David followed her into the house. "Sorry to burst your bubble, love, but you're going to be dealing with shark week in the coming days."
The Goth put her middle finger in the air. "Fuck you. And fuck that shit. I'm on birth control. I shouldn't be on the final week of that bullshit. I'm pretty sure that I'm on week three still."
The leader of the Lost Boys followed her into her kitchen. "Why won't you fucking trust me?"
"Because you're wrong. And you're a guy. You don't know the inner workings of a female body," Calli snapped, ripping open her freezer door and pulling out a tub of ice cream. "You just know how to play with them for hours on end."
David folded his arms over his chest. "Have you forgotten what I am?"
"A bully?" Calli muttered, stabbing a spoon into the ice cream. "An asshole?"
"Vampire," David ground out. "I can smell changes in your body."
"Gross." Calli made a face and continued to munch on her ice cream. "That's got to be an invasion of privacy somewhere." She pointed her spoon at him. "You really need to mind your own bees wax."
David moved in closer to her. "You're going to start soon."
Calli put the spoon on his nose and slipped past him. "I'll prove that I'm not." She headed up the stairs with him in tow. "You're wrong. And when I prove it, you owe me Taco Bell."
David smirked and followed her to the bathroom door which she promptly closed in his face. He heard her rustling around in the small room and then a loud curse, followed by a flush. Calli made no attempt to open the bathroom door after washing her hands, so David waited a moment. When she still didn't make a move to open the door, David did.
Calli was seated on the counter top to the sink, arms wrapped around her middle. She was staring at her feet and didn't look up when he approached her. He could smell the change in her and knew he'd been right.
"Do you need anything?" he asked, losing the snark of before.
"Cuddles," Calli mumbled, sniffling a bit. "This is going to be a bad one."
David wrapped his arms around her and carried her to her bedroom. He gently set her on her bed and then stripped out of his jackets. After kicking his shoes off, he climbed into the bed too and pulled Calli against him. She shivered slightly, but settled down quickly. David gently began rubbing her stomach.
"Thank you, David," Calli whispered, taking a deep breath.
"Anytime," David promised, pressing a kiss to the place behind her ear.
OOOOOOOOOOOOO
A/N: Well, that wasn't exactly how I had it planned before, but it turned out nicely. Right? Please let me know what you think in the review section and I'll get back to writing other things. Thank you and have a lovely day. -Scarlet
