We have our next couple. Now I would like to thank Ocomhdhain1 for the idea. He was the one who helped scripted the concept of this pairing. Big props to him. Anyways hope you enjoy the next uncommon ship. We have Kamakiri and Jiro!
Togaru Kamakiri was not a patient person. All his life, he had a short temper and hated when shit couldn't get done. He always was the type to look a challenge head on and say 'Bring it on'. He did his best to improve whenever he can.
Yet when he saw the Music Girl from 1-A sulking in the corner and acting like the world was over because of one loss, he couldn't take it. Seeing weakness always had him angry. Future heroes were not supposed to be weak. They weren't suppose to bawl their eyes out because they were weak.
Kamakiri walks over to her, a scowl on his face and hands in his pockets.
"Oi, Music Girl." He calls out.
Jiro turns around and sees him approaching. She instantly frowns because she was not in the mood for his shit.
"Its JIRO, not Music Girl, what do you want?" she glares at him in disgust, just wanting him to walk away. She knew that he was basically Bakugo in 1-B.
"Why in the hell are you so weak?" he questions. He didn't intend for his voice to sound so mocking, but he couldn't help is. Its just the way he spoke.
Jiro gives him a glare so intense that Kamakiri was sure he would be dead if looks could kill. He didn't back down, he showed no fear.
"What did you just say?" her voice has a dangerous edge to it. Her jacks raise menacingly, ready to poke his eyes if he dared disrespect her again.
Kamakiri resists the urge to smirk. He liked seeing this part of her, the part that fights back. Almost none of the other girls he seen, had this kind of flare to them.
He narrows his eyes.
"I spoke the truth. You are weak. Long range support, you're good, I'll give you that. Yet close range you're weak. You can't hold your own. What happens when you have no support and you're forced into a one versus one?" Kamakiri walks closer, sizing her up. He folds his arms across his chest, hoping this answer would be the least bit entertaining.
In truth he wasn't trying to be an asshole, but he couldn't stop himself.
Jiro's face changes. The frown gone and she lowers her jacks. She sighs and rubs her shoulder with her other hand.
'He's right.' She thinks internally. Close range was her weakness. She wasn't some master martial artists, and didn't have some broken quirk to bail her out of those situations.
"I-I don't know." She admits.
Kamakiri notices her shift in demeanor. Her fight was already gone. He sees that she is no longer looking like she wants to quit. This was the face of someone who needed help. If there was one thing Kamakiri was good at, it was close range. He could help her with that.
'Might as well. I ain't got shit else to do.' He says internally.
"Come with me." Kamakiri takes her arm and begins dragging her towards the gym.
Jiro blinks and then sputters.
"H-hey what the hell?" She tries to break free, but Kamakiri keeps his grip.
"Relax. We're gonna get you stronger. Stop fighting so we can get started." He says without turning around.
Jiro relents with a sigh. Although she hated to admit it, he was an expert at close range. She could actually learn from him.
Jiro stood to the side, arms folded across her chest. She was kind of pissed because she wondered if this was a joke or not.
Kamakiri had dragged her to the gym only to set up some cans.
Yes, cans.
"So your genius idea to help me is to use cans?" she replies skeptically with anger laced in her tone. She began to wish she didn't listen to him. Of course he would do something like this. Not even Bakugo would be this cruel.
Kamakiri rolls his eyes. He was already getting an attitude from her before he could even explain what she was to do.
"Just shut up and listen to the instructions. What I want you to do, is strike the cans with your jacks and right at the moment of impact, release the biggest burst of sound you can." He says stepping back.
Jiro raises an eyebrow and unfolds her arms. Maybe this could help? She never considered this. Sure she sometimes used her jacks to stab Mineta, but generating sound on impact? That could be interesting.
Jiro readies her jacks, focusing on the cans.
She then launches one of them at the cans, but misses it.
She blinks.
'Focus Jiro. Focus.'
She then launches it again.
Her jack hits the edge of the can and moves it a little.
She clenches her fists at her side, beginning to slowly get frustrated. She didn't think it would be this hard to do such a simple task.
She does it again, same result.
'Why the hell is this so hard?!' she shouts internally.
She attempt many times after, all while barely damaging the can. She felt herself begin to want to give up. To quit and just accept that she is weak.
Kamakiri begins to notice her body language. The many failures were getting to her. He knows the feeling of failing over and over.
'Looks like I might have to intervene.' he thinks internally, remembering the time he nearly cut off his own fingers when trying to practice a drill with his blades. He kept failing and was getting pissed, when he was pissed he got reckless. His sensei stepped in before he went too far.
"Goddamnit." She begins to try again until she feels a pair of strong hands grip her shoulders.
Jiro flinches slightly from the contact. She turns around to see Kamakiri behind her.
"Relax. This is your first time trying this, so expect there to be failures. Calm your mind. I'll keep your body steady so that you'll have more stability." He explains.
Jiro nods and turns around. She takes a deep breath and focuses. With her body more steady, she launches her jack and to her surprise, she hits it dead on, but due to that same surprise, she missed her oppertunity to use the sound.
"Good, this time use the sound. You're improving faster than I thought." Kamakiri compliments.
Jiro tries to stop the blush that is slowly forming on her face. She begins to feel herself sink into his touch, but regains her composure.
She focuses and to her shock, she does it.
She hits the can head on and with a burst of sound, it rockets across the room and embeds itself into the concrete wall.
Jiro's mouth drops as she looks at what she just did. She wasn't aware she had this much power. This much potential.
"See, look how good you did. Not even ten minutes in and you're already getting the hang of it."
Kamakiri takes his hands off her shoulders and stands next to her.
"This time, do it without me keeping you steady. If you can do this on your own, then you've already improved." Kamakiri nods as he looks at the cans.
"Alright. Thanks." She says with a smile.
"Focus." He says in a slightly aggresive tone. Couldn't have her head get too big just yet. He didn't want her to get too happy.
Jiro nods. She knew this wasn't over yet.
'Focus on the task at hand. You've got this.' she hyped herself up internally. Now that was making progress, she fully believed she could do this.
She turns towards the cans and focuses. Without Kamakiri holding her steady, she notices how she shakes slightly. Whether it was because she was nervous or because she focused too much on one task, she didn't know.
She launches her jacks and hits the can, but she mistimes the sound. The can only slides across the floor.
"That's alright. Try again." Kamakiri encourages. He sees she is making progress and decides being an ass would only hinder her.
"I won't screw up this time." She vows. She was now determined to show that she wasn't weak. She was ready to get stronger and get better.
"We'll see to that." He says, watching with piqued interest. He didn't expect her to adapt this quickly. He thought this would take a few days at the latest.
Jiro steadies herself, and clears her mind. She imagines that he is there, keeping her steady.
With a determined stare, she hits the target and sends the can across the room. Instead of embedding itself into the wall, the can bursts on impact.
Kamakiri whistles, seeing the damage done.
"See? Told ya you could be strong." He grins and pats her shoulder. He was impressed with how quick she was learning. He wonders if he could turn her into a menace close range one day.
"Meet back here tomorrow after school. I'm gonna head back to the dorms. You did good Jiro." Kamakiri walks off, without noticing the blush that was on her face.
'He called me Jiro...'
I tried to make this different from my Momo x Ojiro story. I hope I did a good job. Anyways you all have a good one. Reviews are appreciated.
