Heyo! I'm glad you clicked on my story! This is my second account, and the stories will be better. This work is a what if in which Meliodas is a goddess and Elizabeth is a demon. I got this idea based on fanart so it's not original :P I hope you enjoy it though!
Chapter 1: A Light in the Dark
In the middle of the woods, there stood a small tavern. It wasn't much to look at, and the food and drinks weren't remarkable, but you could still hear the laughter of patrons inside. An armor-clad figure could almost be heard sighing as it struggled its way up the steep hill towards the tavern in search of help.
"My apologies on keeping you waiting," a young girl said as she served a table. With her long, silky silver hair, sparkling blue eyes, and large bust, the patrons didn't seem to mind the wait at all. As she turned around, however, the waitress bumped into someone leaving and spilled food everywhere.
"I'm so sorry!" she said, bowing over and over.
"Listen," the man said, "I like being nice to the ladies, but this was a new shirt." This burly man stared the girl down menacingly. "So how are you gonna pay for this? Things could get ugly if you don't have twenty silver pieces."
"Excuse me sir, I'll be right back." the silverette had disgust lacing her voice now as she went to get the money. Goddesses, she could not stand bullies. Not many things ticked her off, but bullies were one of the things on the short list.
While receiving his money, the seven-foot goliath of a man said, "We wouldn't want this to happen again, would we, girlie?"
"No, of course not," the girls said, purposely grabbing the dragon-head hilt of her sword. She smiled in a sickeningly sweet way before adding, "Oh, and it's Miss Elizabeth to you."
Spinning on her heel, Elizabeth had a whole new attitude. "Hawk-chan!3 Come clean this up for me!" A fat little pig came from the back. "It's such a pain, being a pig..." the pink blob muttered.
"HE CAN TALK?!" a patron shouted at the top of his lungs. He was going crazy, saying unintelligible gibberish and foaming at the mouth.
"And if it's not clean," Elizabeth said darkly, "there will be pork roast for dinner." She then perked up at some talk two guys were making in the corner.
"So, have you heard? The rumors of the wandering rust knight?" one guy said.
"Yeah... he wears rusted armor and is a ghost, right? I heard he just appears and disappears." the other guy replied.
"Creepy, huh? And there's more. Apparently, he wanders around muttering about the Seven Deadly Sins."
"Who?"
"They're on that wanted board over there. The Seven Deadly Sins are the criminals who plotted the overthrowing of the kingdom ten years ago... I think."
"These guys still haven't been caught?"
"Yeah... not a single one. There's some rumors saying they all died already..."
"But... the posters get renewed every year. Doesn't that mean that the holy knights are still doing everything in their power to find them?"
"Maybe that rust knight is the ghost of one of the sins and is trying to find his comrades. Hey! What does the little girl employee think?"
Elizabeth turned around, smiling sweetly, but very annoyed. "Oh! I'm not a 'little girl'. My name is Elizabeth. And I'm not an employee, but the owner of the tavern!"
"A girl is the owner?"
Elizabeth whirled around on the speaker. "Can a girl not be a tavern owner?! Sheesh, men these days and their sexist superiority complexes!"
The doorbell rang as someone came in, and Elizabeth was once again good natured. "Oh! Welcome to Boar Hat!"
But it wasn't anybody. A tall figure came through the door, dressed in armor. It muttered, "...The Se...ven... Deadly... Sins..."
All the customers were scared shitless. "IT'S HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERE! IT'S THE SEVEN DEADLY SINS! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES! SAVE UUUSSSS! WE'RE GONNA DIE!" They were gone in a blink of an eye.
Elizabeth stood there, then hopped over the counter. The heels of her boots landed with a thunk on the floor. "Who might you be?" She said in her sickly-sweet voice she gets when pissed. The rust knight fell over backwards with a crash. The helmet rolled away to reveal a small blonde boy with untameably messy hair.
"It's a little boy!" Hawk exclaimed.
"Yeah... no shit, sherlock." Elizabeth deadpanned. She scooped the boy up effortlessly (after getting him out of the armor, of course) and set him gently on the guest bed.
The boy just sat up, and fell back forward, with his head in Elizabeth's breasts. "Oh my!" Elizabeth exclaimed. "You're awake fast!"
"So you're gonna let him get away with the pervyness...?" Hawk asked.
"Uh, where am I?" the boy asked, his one eye locking with Elizabeth's pair.
"You came into my tavern all crazy and just collapsed."
"Tavern...?"
"The 'Boar Hat'! I own this place."
"You own this place?"
"Is that strange?"
"Not at all! I just thought that with the sword on you waist, you were a swordsman or something." Elizabeth flamboyantly drew her sword, and the boy flinched. "I'm sorry, did I scare you? It might just be a hilt, but it sure looks real! This is how I keep people from running off without paying! A lot of...different... people can come by." Elizabeth sighed. "It's hard being a girl."
"I just feel bad for the guys who piss their pants when you scare them," Hawk said.
The boy looked at Hawk with sparkles in his eyes. "Hey little piggy! What's your name?"
"I am Hawk, Captain of the Order of Scraps Disposal!"
"Are you hungry?" Elizabeth asked, "Because I have some pork I can cook up."
"EEEEEK! You piece of shit!" shrieked Hawk.
"It's not bad," Elizabeth said, "but it's not good, either."
The boy took a bite. "I see what you mean."
"What was a little boy like you doing in armor like that?" Elizabeth questioned.
"Well," said the boy, "I'm searching for the Seven Deadly Sins."
Then there came a loud pounding at the door. "OPEN UP!" Someone yelled quite aggressively. "There was a notice from the village people! We are the knights garrisoned at the base of the mountain who serve the Holy Knight himself! We have come to capture the rust knight who appears to be one of the Seven Deadly Sins!"
"What a racket," Elizabeth muttered.
"Holy Knight..." muttered the boy.
"I'll give you thirty seconds!" the knight said.
Elizabeth suddenly appeared. "Sorry for keeping you waiting!"
"...That was fast...wait...Who the hell are you?"
"Oh... my bad! I'm the owner."
"WHERE'S THE RUST KNIGHT?!"
Elizabeth turned around. "You don't want to cause any trouble. Come on out."
"Did someone call for me? I'm Hawk the Rust knight!" Hawk declared over-dramatically.
"Hey...boss... is this pig one of the Seven Deadly Sins?" a soldier asked, voice quivering.
"Like Hell it is!" the 'boss' snapped.
"Whaat?!" Hawk exclaimed, "Didn't you know I'm the Captain of the Order of Scraps Disposal?"
"There is no such order!"
"If you want this pig," Elizabeth said, "you can take him. Boil, roast, grill, I don't care."
Elizabeth was grabbed by her shoulders and pinned against the wall. "You've got guts for a girl, mocking a knight!"
That's when the boy slipped out the back.
"Mr. Allioni Boss Sir? A boy slipped out the back."
"He was probably the rust knight! Follow him!"
"Yes Sir!"
"Capture him!" Allioni shouted, "but don't let your guard down! If he's one of the Seven Deadly Sins, he must possess considerable skill! Soon enough, Lord Twigo will come! All we have to do is exhaust him and drive him into a corner.!"
That's when a knight to Allioni's left did a complete wipe-out. "A...A pig is charging toward us!" Allioni shrieked like a little girl. "Ahhhhh! Don't come any closer!"
Hawk bumped him off the cliff. "See ya! I've got nothing against you, but I'm getting double the scraps tonight 'cause of this."
"Uh, thanks, a lot." the boy said to Elizabeth. "You've saved me twice now."
"So," said Elizabeth, "how did the rest of your story go?"
"Well," said the boy, "the reason I'm searching for the Seven Deadly Sins is to stop the Holy Knights. You've helped me a lot, and I can't thank you enough, but try to forget you ever met me."
"Wait kid!" said Hawk, "you're trying to stop the Holy Knights?! The Holy Knights are knights among knights who protect Britannia, a single knight can match and entire country's army! They're heroes, aren't they?"
Meliodas was quiet for a minute. "But... what if they decided to wage war against Britannia? A few days ago, a Coup D'etat was staged by the Holy Knights, and the King was captured. The Kingdom had fallen under control of the Holy Knights. To start a war, they're forcing people around the countryside to join the army. Able-bodied men and women are becoming soldiers, children and the parents who stay to care for them must provide food and supplies. The elderly are forced to construct castle walls. Without any mercy, those who oppose them are... Soon enough, the war will reach all the way out here. If there... If there was anything that could stop the Holy Knights, it would be the Seven Deadly Sins!"
"Please listen," said Elizabeth, "Why look for the sins, knowing what kind of people they are?"
"When I was five or six years old," said the boy, "my father would tell me stories about the Seven Deadly Sins. They are the strongest and cruelest order of knights in the kingdom, made up of seven criminals who carved symbols of seven beasts into their bodies. Ten years ago, they were accused of plotting to overthrow the kingdom, and scattered to the four winds after the Holy Knights launched a general offensive against them."
"But... There are rumors that they're dead," interrupted Elizabeth.
"There's no way people as amazing as that would die so easily." Meliodas exclaimed. "The Holy Knights are the ones making people suffer, not the sins!"
There was a sudden rumble, and the cliffside fell.
"Whoops..." said a knight, "I had forgotten to confirm if they were the people in the report. Confirmed! Two unknown people, dead!" The knight turned to his men. "Is that all right?"
"B-but, Sir Twigo, Allioni was beneath that cliff!" one of the soldiers piped up.
"Then we can say there were three dead." Sir Twigo replied.
"But Sir Twigo, that's horrible!"
Twigo faced the soldiers, "should we make it seven dead?" he threatened.
That's when Elizabeth hopped back on solid ground holding Hawk, the kid, and, surprisingly, Allioni.
"What're you all doing alive?!" Twigo demanded, "Don't change my confirmed death toll!"
"Are you okay?" Elizabeth asked the boy.
"Huh? Y-yeah" he replied, a little shaky.
"Alright, when I give the signal, run to the forest. Okay?"
"Okay."
That's when Twigo noticed the boy's earring. "Well, it seems I'm in luck! The symbol on that earring is of the royal family... which means you are... confirmed! Prince Meliodas!"
Hawk turned to Meliodas, shocked. "Prince Meliodas, as in Prince of the kingdom?!"
"There's a search order out for you throughout the kingdom, Prince Meliodas. You won't run, will you, Twigo said. "The orders are to capture you alive, but it can't be helped if you die in an accident, can it?"
"Run!" Elizabeth shouted, taking off like a bullet.
"I can't get captured!" Meliodas shouted, "I can't give up!"
They were gone, but that didn't stop Twigo. He drew his sword and yelled, "Confirmed! Accidental death!" A wave of energy went through the forest, cutting whole trees like butter. Meliodas turned around, his eyes wide.
The blast cut the top of the mountain clean off.
Twigo stepped through the wreckage. "Now, what will the circumstances of death be? Crushed by a falling tree? Blood loss from the whirlwind of energy?"
Meliodas opened his eyes. "Are you okay?" Elizabeth asked. He nodded. The silverette turned around. Hawk had a stick; poked into his side. "Hawk, you seem... just fine."
"YOU CALL THIPS SKEWERED-PIG STATE "FINE?!" Hawk; replied, clearly hurting. "UWAAAAAA! MOMMA!" Hawk scampered off to find his 'momma'.
Hawk's commotion unfortunately drew Twigo towards Meliodas and Elizabeth. He saw the pair, and the triumph in hips eyes shown like the sun. Meliodas met Twigo's eyes, and the prince slowly stood up and started walking towards the knight. "Meliodas! Where are you going?!" Elizabeth asked, panic laced her voice.
Meliodas didn't turn around. He just said, "I can't escape it."
"B-but you said you can't give up... didn't you?" Elizabeth tried again
"But if I surrender, he won't take your life."
Before Meliodas could make it within a hundred feet of Twigo, the knight raised hips sword to the air, and the shockwave came crashing down right towards Meliodas. Elizabeth got to him just in time, slamming him off to the side into the ground. "Please, just get out of here. If you go right now, you should make it out alve!" Meliodas begged to Elizabeth.
"He's gonna kill both of us either way." Elizabeth replied simply.
Meliodas broke down. "Why?" he asked. "I went on a journey to find the seven deadly sins, I'd never done something like that before. I was terrified. I wore the armor to hide my identity and I walked until I was exhausted. I knew that if I relied on anyone they would get hurt. But you helped me anyway. You were so kind to someone you didn't even know. I don't want to wrap you up in this. To make matters worse, I don't even know your name!" The tears were streaming down the poor boy's face.
Elizabeth looked at Meliodas with sadness and compassion. And was that... it's rare on her, but sympathy. She then smirked. "My name is Elizabeth."
"What?" Meliodas was shocked. "No way! But, you don't look; much past sixteen!" That's when he noticed the symbol showing on Elizabeth's shoulder. "That symbol... a dragon!" Elizabeth cracked a shit-eating grin.
Twigo snuck up behind Elizabeth, ready to strike. He brought his sword down, a whirlwind going everywhere, but, it went right back at him. "how can this be? My blow should have surely finished them off, yet the one who felt the attack was me! What... is this?" He saw Elizabeth standing there, full of determination. "A broken blade? You're just a little girl, yet plan to fight me with that?"
Elizabeth smirked, "Oh, it'll do just fine."
Twigo leaned closer. "I've seen you before somewhere, haven't I? No! If that's the case, you haven't changed a bit!"
Elizabeth got ready to strike. "Did you figure out who I am yet?"
"It-It can't be!"
Twigo brought down his sword. Elizabeth swiped hers up.
"I am... the Seven Deadly Sins' Dragon Sin of Wrath, Elizabeth!"
The blast blew Trigo straight into the air, hundreds of feet. He even got partially burned.
Elizabeth turned around. "Well Meliodas, you found your first one! And about the others... I have some unfinished business, so I've been looking for them myself as of late. I've been running the bar to gather information, but if I had an extra hand I could concentrate more on the gathering information part. You'll come, right?"
The Prince had tears in the corners of his eyes. Maybe it had to do with joy. Maybe it was relief. Maybe it was fatigue. Regardless the reason, Meliodas enthusiastically agreed.
Somewhere not far off, the Beard of the Mountain Cat had found Lord Twigo... alive. "Request...reinforcements f-from the kingdom!" the Holy Knight said (he barely got it out though, he was so tired and hurt) "This... is s-serious!"
Hawk had gotten his mother, who actually carries the tavern on he back. (It's a traveling tavern on a giant pig, of course.) On the way to get Meliodas and Elizabeth, she trampled the Holy Knight Twigo and his Beard of the Mountain Cat. Once in sight of the Prince and the sin, Hawk's mom sped up, and Meliodas and Elizabeth hopped onto the ladder the came down the side of the giant pig. (just don't question it at this point)
Was the meeting of the Prince of Liones and the Captain of the Seven Deadly Sins coincidence of inevitable?
Is it despair or hope that awaits them?
Their adventure has just begun, a small light of hope in the dark of the world.
