I've wanted to be a writer for as long as I can remember. I never did anything with it, though, until I found this place. Now that I have a forum to show my work and get feedback on it I'm much more prolific. I have lots of stories to share, and look forward to reading yours. As far as reviews go, I like all of them (I do have an ego after all :)), but I especially like in depth, critical reviews. You know, comments on technique, pointing out bad characterization, gaping plot holes, etc. Advice and tips are always welcome.

I've been in a rut for a long time, dealing with real life issues and a general lack of inspiration. That seems to have changed. We'll see.

Pet peeve: Writers who announce their pairings in their summary. If your story is good, I'll read it no matter who ends up with who. If it isn't good, telling me it's (for example) a Kim/Ron fic won't get me to read more than the first few paragraphs.

Tip: A summary needs to pique the reader's curiousity without giving away too much of the plot. It also needs to be short, since cuts them off at a certain length. A method I find that works is to use the premise that gets the story going. Say that your story is about Kim and Ron joining forces with the Go Team to fight a new villain. If the first chapter has Kim and Ron traveling to Go City to visit the Go Team, use that as the summary: "While in Go City, Kim and Ron must join forces with the Go Team to defeat a terrible new villain." It's short, simple, and gives away almost nothing of the plot. As an added bonus, it won't discourage anyone who dislikes particular kinds of stories or certain pairings from reading it.
