Chapter 3 – Meeting Up
Work was done for Lucinda and Athena. They decided to get some food while they waited for Dwayne and Marko to show up. Lucinda was a tom boy with an appetite to match. She got a loaded chili cheese coney with cheese fries and a big gulp blue Slurpee. Despite she was waiting to go on a date she got the blue. Athena was the more reserved sister. She was the one that made you believe beware still waters. She ordered a large cherry coke and tacos. As they ate Sam came running up with another boy.
"Hey." Sam said and tried to snag his sister's cheese fries.
"I will bite you, Sammy." Lucinda warned her little brother.
"Come on give me some." He whined.
"Go bother mom." Athena groused.
"She's still at work. She told me to find you." Sam said with a triumphant smile on his face.
"Look, unless you want to watch your sister's make out with guys you might want to get lost. Go hang with your little friend here." Lucinda stated making a gesture at the boy.
"I am Edgar." The boy introduced himself.
"Nice to meet ya." Athena said and sipped her coke while Lucinda grunted around the coney in her mouth.
Motorcycles rumbled in the background. Lucinda and Athena turned to the sound. There were Dwayne and Marko with the others of their group. They saw the little boys get off from behind Dwayne and ran up to the girl and they went their own way. The twins had expected Dwayne and Marko to approach but all four of them approached. Marko swooped down and kissed Athena soundly.
"Ew." Was resounded by Sam.
"Told ya." Lucinda said and Dwayne leaned down to kiss her as well.
Athena looked over to shoo Sam and Edgar away. But stopped. She saw the look of horror on Edgar's face. He looked genuinely afraid instead of disgusted like Sam. Athena almost asked if he was ok.
"I think you should go with your friend Sammy." She said, "He does not look so good."
All eyes turned to Edgar. He backed up quickly. He looked like the proverbial caught rabbit. He looked ready to run. Sam gave him an odd look and gestured for them to go. The group watched the duo go over to Frog's Comics. They saw Edgar look at them from the window then a dark-haired boy joined him. Sam was then seen in the window.
"Your brother seems… interesting." Marko remarked.
"Sam has always been peculiar." Lucinda said.
"So, who's your friends?" Athena asked Marko.
"I'm David, beautiful." He said to her.
"Hi." Athena said quietly.
"I'm Paul, babe." He said to Lucinda.
Athena and Lucinda were confused. They had been brought up to only give your attention to one person. But here they were attracted to two guys at once. And they were attracted to them in return.
"Wanna go on some rides?" Paul asked Lucinda.
"Sure." She answered.
As she went to stand Paul grabbed her hand and led her through the crowd with Dwayne hot on their heels, leaving Athena with Marko and David. Paul wove them through the crowd and right to the roller coaster. He made a grand gesture for her to step forward. The carnie went to stop Lucinda before she could but immediately stopped and backed off when he saw Paul and Dwayne. Lucinda gave him a questioning look, but he waved her on. She began to wonder if they were dangerous or just particularly important. They did not look like they were people to be labeled important by society. But then again just because they were biker's society would label them dangerous. Like society labeled her an easy slut that was probably diseased because she was bisexual and knew her way around an engine block. Apparently, it was not appropriate for a woman to be able to work on vehicles. Or engage in sexual activities with other women for that matter.
"What's on your mind baby?" Paul asked her close to her ear.
"Nothing, just some passing thoughts." She said with a smile.
Dwayne watched the two of them. Lucinda was resistant to Paul. Paul was not going to push; he was going to let her fall for him. They needed to get her comfortable enough to have the conversation about being with them both. Vampires could not live if they were rejected by their mate. It was common for covens to have at-least two members with a shared mate. It was rare for a full coven to have a single mate shared between them all. Dwayne hated sharing but he would rather share with Paul than David. He pitied Marko on that front, poor boy had to share with David. His train of thought died when the coaster launched forward.
Athena found David quite charming. She was very attracted to him and to Marko. This is where she and Lucinda differed. Athena was very free with her love. But when in a committed relationship she was loyal. So, for her if they were both willing to pursue her then she would gladly accept them. Marko and David held her hands as they explored the booths on the boardwalk. They found a booth with an eccentric old gypsy woman. She did tarot, palm readings, and sold talismans. Athena engaged her in conversation. The elder woman was weary of the boys with her. Athena noticed.
"Do not worry about them. They are harmless." She stated with a little wave of her hand.
"They are far from harmless dearie." The gypsy replied.
"Well, I guess they are harmless to me." Athena said with an absent shrug of her shoulders, "Do you have any crystals?"
The elder woman smiled and pulled out from below her set up counter an old dark wood box. She set it before Athena and opened the chest. Athena's electric eyes lit up. There were so many different crystals. It took her several minutes, but Athena made up her mind and selected several pieces. She had also picked a large piece of Jasper that was on a necklace chain. The gypsy woman was pleased to see her wear the Jasper. It was a shield crystal. It would protect her from harm.
"What are the rocks for?" David asked her as they walked off.
"Crystals have all kinds of different properties. Protecting you against energy vampires is but one of the things this famously purple and powerful stone does for you. Amethyst, for example, not only protects you, but converts the negative energy heading your way to love. It eases anger, fear, anxiety, and grief. Wear amethyst in jewelry, especially around your throat or heart, or place clusters or geodes around your home. If you have an amethyst wand, point it at you to bring in healing energy, point it away to ward off negative energy. Amethyst fades in sunlight though so must be careful with it." Athena stated showing them a purple crystal.
"That is a powerful little rock." Marko commented.
"And don't either of you forget it." Athena said giving them a pointed look.
David and Marko shared a look. Athena smirked. Her blood red lips and blue eyes giving the vampire boys proverbial chills. Athena knew there was something different about them. The reaction from the gypsy woman confirmed her suspicions. Athena was a witch, and she would find out what they were. Hopefully, they were willing to tell her and her sister. She knew they were some sort of creature. They did not have the energy of werewolves or shapeshifters. Those were all over phoenix as were witches and wiccans.
"What are you?" Athena asked and they froze.
AN: Yes, I am stopping it right here. I know it's not fair, but I decided on a cliff hanger.
