Okay I took longer than I anticipated to actually start writing actively but it took a discord kancolle RP for me to finally get off my lazy ass and write.

I'm not entirely convinced I'm not an Idiot genius.

Personally useful helpful tips for writing stories.

1. Roadmap.

For the love of god please do this, it helps you plan out the basic flow of the story beforehand and reduces writer's block like nothing you've ever seen.

2. Plan ahead

Write out chapters in advance and edit them in stages. First draft being the writeup of the chapter, second draft being major changes/fixes and third draft being the minor detail changes. Keeping two to five chapters ahead of your update schedule gives you content to release while writing up newer chapters.

3. Character list.

Nothing special, just names, affiliations, role in the story, whether they're alive/dead/unknown/in a coma at any given point, and their species/sex (because god forbid I list gender, also species only counts if you have robots/androids/ or non human species in the story.).

4. For the love of god keep your personal politics out of the story.

There's no bigger turn off to people like bringing your personal politics into your story aside from blatantly being a massive dick about things or writing about WWII Germany/Italy/Japan in any positive light. So please, just don't, I don't care what you think about X political party, or X politician, stooping to bashing them for your premise distracts from the narrative. And if that is your narrative then many people are liable to pass you by no matter how good you write because a lot of people are just sick of seeing partisan politics at this point.
