AN: it's been a few weeks but I finally found time and energy to write. I can't promise weekly updates but I try to update as often as I can. This is still a fandom I've not really written in (MCU) so this is slightly more difficult. But thank you for reading.
Hermione was leaning against her pillows. Peter had brought the books to her and she already was looking forward to learning more about how this universe saw her and Harry. Wanda had come and talked to her that morning. Apparently the rest had decided that she could stay. Hermione had thanked Wanda profusely because she knew that she had vouched for her even though she didn't know her better than the others. Natasha had joined them that morning and they had had some girl talk. Hermione felt first the first time since falling through the roof, everything would be okay. She knew that it would take a while before everyone would trust her but it was a start. Bruce knocked at the door with Doctor Strange. Hermione put down her book on the chair next to her bed and gave a soft smile.
"How are you feeling Miss Granger? Doctor Strange asked.
"Hermione please." Hermione smiled softly. "I'm still feeling very tired but a lot better. The pain is a lot less than it used to be."
Doctor Strange smiled at her. "Stephen then. Can you sit up straight?"
Hermione complied as he conjured balls of energy inside his palms and slowly moved them over her back and up her neck. Bruce was checking her heart rate and the oxygen saturation in her lungs. "Ok Hermione lay back." Stephen moved his hands down her back and nodded at Bruce. "It seems to be in order. Your muscles and body is still bruised but it's also a lot of disuse of the muscles that causes the fatigue. I propose you try a little training or just a long walk every night. If you train try to ask Wanda to train your magic. I think it will be a lot to take in." Stephen said before he stood back.
Hermione smiled at him and turned her head to look at Bruce. "Everything looks in order. But still be cautious the next few days." Hermione nodded. "I think you need some food in you." Bruce smiled at her.
Hermione slowly stood up from the bed and looked at him. "I'm starving."
Stephen held the door open for her and guided her to the kitchen before opening a portal. "I'll be back in a few days for your final check-up." Hermione nodded.
"Thank you for everything." Hermione said before Stephen disappeared. Hermione turned around and walked into the kitchen. Walking was still a little slow like the time she thought going to a Pilates class was a good idea. Sitting down and taking the stairs will be a challenge for the next couple days. Hermione felt already winded from the short walk. She blew the hair out of her face, already feeling very self-conscious standing there in Tony Stark's kitchen. The one that didn't even like the thought of her being here just a few days ago.
Hermione walked over to the fridge and opened the door. She leaned down to look inside and to her annoyance there wasn't much in there. She didn't even see some quick fix or even something she just had to throw in the microwave. It wasn't that she couldn't cook, she just thought cooking for one was a lot of fuss for just one. She decided that as it was almost noon, she could just make something for the others to eat during lunch?
She leaned down and took some eggs out of the fridge and some bacon bits. "Friday, please put on some music."
There was a soft swell of music before she could make out the words. 'When your baby leaves you all alone and nobody calls you on the phone.' Hermione softly started swaying as she was looking for the butter. When she found it, she shut the fridge with her hip. She walked over to the stove, swaying her hips and humming along.
She cracked ten eggs before she stopped to think and started counting every member on her fingers. She shook her head and added twenty more. Maybe it was overdoing it but better be safe than sorry. She chucked the bacon in the two pans she had put on the hob. As Hermione started whisking her eggs when the music changed into a very slow number. When the text started, Hermione smiled. It had been one of her mother's favourite songs. She started swaying softly. 'When the rain is blowing in your face and the whole world is on your case.'
Hermione poured the eggs in the pans and wiped off her hands. "Friday, please inform everyone that lunch is ready if they want to."
"Yes Miss Granger." The music swelled back up to its previous volume. Hermione felt a little lost standing there waiting before she could flip the eggs. She felt a little lost. She knew that she was able to stay here but she had to do something? She couldn't really stay at home just train and sit around all day? Maybe she could ask Bruce for scraps of wires and motherboards and try her hand at making something, she wasn't sure. But she had to do something.
She flipped the eggs and made herself a sandwich. So far nobody had made its way to the kitchen so Hermione decided to take one of the books that were spread over the kitchen table and spread it open before she sat down to eat. It was a beginners guide to Norse mythology. Hermione swiped her hands on her pants before turning the page. She was determined to find a way to at least show Loki and Thor she wasn't as bad as they thought she was.
