I wrote this before I knew Luz lived in Connecticut, so let's just assume Luz and her mom moved to California. Okay? Okay.
Luz and Amity came home a little before sunset. They had to wait for Luz's mom to get off work and come pick them up. Once Luz was in the house, she went straight to her room without saying a word. This concerned Camila, as Luz normally didn't do this. Amity knew it was because of what Dipper told her. Having to completely cut off contact with the demon realm was affecting both of them, but it seemed to be hitting Luz harder.
Amity waited a few minutes before peeking into Luz's room. She was talking to Willow and Gus on her orb.
"I'm sorry, guys," Luz said.
"It's okay, we understand," Willow said with small tears starting to form in her eyes.
"I don't know how long this will last," Luz said. "I just want you to know you are the best friends I've ever had...and I will get in contact with you as soon as this is over...and let Eda, King and Hooty know, okay?"
"Got it," Gus said.
"Well...I gotta get going," Luz said.
"Alright, see ya, Luz," Willow said as she smiled weakly.
"See ya, Luz," Gus said.
Luz turned off the orb and closed the portal. She layed on her bed, burying her face into her pillow. Amity didn't know what to say.
"Luz..."
Luz looked up at Amity. She went and hugged Amity and sobbed into her shoulder.
"Luz, it's going to be okay..."
"No, it's not!"
How do I even begin to comfort her when I don't actually believe in what I'm saying?
Amity, unsure of what else to say, held Luz tighter as they sat on the bed. Amity started to feel tears of her own form.
Camila came into the room. She sat down by them.
"What's wrong, mija?"
Luz didn't say a word.
"She's going through a lot right now," Amity said as she wiped the tears from her eyes. "We both are..."
Camila hugged Luz and Amity. "I understand. I'll give you two some space if you need it."
"Thanks, Ms. Noceda."
Camila left the room. Ever since she discovered the truth, she's tried to make up for sending Luz to that camp. It turned out that the camp was sending changelings to replace children, and Luz stumbling into the Boiling Isles was a blessing in disguise. Still, she couldn't forgive herself for not listening to her own daughter and making her feel like she needed to change herself. That was her biggest regret as a parent. When she had to choose between two Luz's, it was clear to her which one was the real Luz...the Luz with the overactive imagination...the Luz that acted like a real kid and not some perfect little angel. Raising Luz may have been a lot to deal with, especially by herself, but she wouldn't trade Luz for anyone.
She had to get ready for bed. Tomorrow was an early shift, and she was gonna need the sleep.
At around the same time, Anne, Sasha and Marcy were walking each other home. They stopped by Sasha's.
"I'll...see you guys tomorrow..." Sasha said as she walked into her house. Anne took over wheeling Marcy. Marcy's arms were getting tired from wheeling herself for most of the day.
The next stop was Marcy's. Marcy wasn't sure if she even really wanted to go home. Her parents seemed to focus less on her returning home safely and more on how she ran away in the first place. In truth, she didn't tell her parents why she was spending the night at Anne's. She said it was to study, but she honestly didn't need to do all that much studying. She just wanted to get away from them for the night. Thankfully, they weren't moving anytime soon. Whatever deal was made must've fell through after Marcy went missing.
Anne noticed that Marcy seemed hesitant to get on her driveway.
"What's wrong, Marcy?"
"Oh, nothing..." Marcy wheeled herself onto the driveway. "Can you give me my walker? It should be in the garage."
Anne helped get her walker and put the wheelchair in the house.
"Thanks, Anne...see ya tomorrow." Marcy kissed Anne and went inside.
Without saying a word to her parents, Marcy started going down the hall to her room. As she was about to open the door, she began to have flashes...of being controlled by King Andrias...of being forced to fight her friends...she stumbled, but was able to prevent herself from falling.
She's been having these flashes lately as scattered memories from her time under King Andrias' control randomly came back to her. When Anne and Sasha were able to break King Andrias' control of Marcy, she fought along them despite their protests. Using her calamity powers in the physical state she was took a toll on Marcy's body, and she became unable to walk. She had slowly been regaining strength in her legs due to the physical therapy she would undergo, but there was no way of knowing how long it would take until she was fully recovered.
She opened the door to her room. It was a bit messy, but that wasn't too out of the ordinary since she'd often get so involved in her hobbies that she wouldn't clean her room for weeks, sometimes months. She turned on the tv and took her Switch out of her bag and put it in the dock. She heard her mom start yelling at her dad out in the living room, and put on her headphones to block it out.
Back to business as usual, I guess...
She missed going on adventures with her friends, discovering new things and making a name for herself in Newtopia. In Amphibia, she felt she was somebody. Now she was back home, and the things she used to use for escapism weren't having the same effect on her. She lived through the real thing, and...she wanted to go back...
