Sasha woke up. The last thing she remembered was fighting King Andrias in the castle, but she didn't remember what happened after Marcy grabbed the box...
Sasha looked around the room and saw Grime sitting by her, a serious expression on his face...more serious than usual, that is...
"Grime? Where's Anne and Marcy?" Sasha tried to get up, but her head hurt, so she layed back down.
"Anne made it through the portal along with the Plantars..."
"Oh, that's a relief...I'm glad she's back home...but wait, where's Marcy?"
Grime looked down solemnly. Grime's silence only served to set Sasha off.
"Do you know what happened to her?" She got up and grabbed his shoulders. "Grime? Answer me, goddammit! Where is she?" She was shaking him at this point.
"She's...dead..."
Sasha couldn't believe what Grime said. "No...you can't be serious...there's no way she'd be..."
"I'm sorry Sasha...I saw it with my own eye...after you fell out the window, King Andrias stabbed her...I thought for sure you were dead too, until Marcy's bird brought you back to me...but...you were knocked out."
"No! I don't believe it!"
"Sasha...I..."
Sasha couldn't hold it in anymore. She ran towards the door and punched it, screaming. Her hand was bloodied from the impact. She ran out, leaving Grime standing there, staring blankly at the doorway.
Sasha didn't know where she was going, and she didn't care. She needed to get out of there. I need to wake up...
She realized that she was in Wartwood. She ran past the residents into the woods. She became short of breath, her head still aching, and on the brink of a panic attack. She leaned by a tree as she finally started to break down crying.
Grime eventually managed to catch up with Sasha. He came over and held her. She was bawling into his chest as he tried his best to comfort her.
"I'm so sorry, Sasha..."
Grime and Sasha stood there for what felt like hours. For how tough Sasha had been the past few months, in this moment, she was a lost, scared child that needed someone to comfort her. She was separated from her parents and both of her best friends are gone, and now she only had Grime.
Her sadness soon turned to anger, and thoughts of revenge flooded her mind. She broke the hug and leaned against the tree, her fists clenched.
"I'm gonna kill him!"
"Sasha, we need to formulate a plan first. We can't just go in swords blazing."
"I'm gonna find Andrias and I'm gonna rip his goddamn head off!"
"You're not listening to me, Sasha!"
Sasha turned to face Grime. "No, you're not listening to me! We need to avenge Marcy!"
"And what? Get yourself killed, too? I thought I lost you once...I don't want your death on my conscious, too..."
Sasha stopped, realizing that she may have gone overboard. Is he blaming himself?
"Grime..."
"I could've stopped him...if I was just...a little quicker...I could've saved Marcy..."
"Grime...it's not your fault..."
"I wish I could believe that, Sasha...right now, I just want to be able to protect you...you're like the daughter I never had...if I lost you, I don't know what I'd do..."
Sasha hugged Grime. "I'm not going anywhere...I promise..."
"Let's go back to the house then..."
Sasha and Grime made their way back to Wartwood. As they approached the house, it dawned on Sasha that they were in the Plantar's house. Maybe Anne left some stuff behind.
She went down into the basement and saw Anne's journal on the ground. She picked it up. She decided against reading it and put it on the shelf...but as she walked away, her curiosity got the best of her. She went back over to the shelf, picked it back up and opened it.
I saw Sasha today. Unfortunately, things didn't turn out so well. I felt hurt by what she did. She threatened the ones that brought me in and took care of me, and I was finally able to stand up to her. I was never able to do that back home whenever she got controlling.
Sasha was taken aback. She thinks I'm...controlling? She kept reading.
On the other hand, she's still my friend, and I need to find her and Marcy. I know we can fix our problems if we could just talk them out honestly. I'm just afraid that she won't admit to her toxicity and I'll drive her further away. I know she's not a bad person, she just needs to understand that me and Marcy have our own boundaries, and she shouldn't impose her will on us.
Sasha could feel the tears forming. I have been too controlling...Anne...Marcy...I'm so sorry...I wish we could fix things between us...if I could just have one more chance, I know I can change...I just know it...if you come back, I promise I won't be as controlling...just please...
...I want to go home...and I want to start over...
Sasha read more of Anne's journal. The last entry was the day before they were meant to go back to Earth, before King Andrias revealed his true colors...before it was revealed that Marcy was the reason they were in Amphibia in the first place...and before Sasha and Grime revealed their intentions to overthrow the king and take Newtopia. Anne's last journal entry was pretty optimistic for the future.
I finally got my friends back, and tomorrow, King Andrias is gonna send us back home. It's been a long journey, but it had to come to an end at some point. I'm really gonna miss this place and those I met along the way, but it's time to go home. I really feel like I got through to Sasha this time, and now things will be better between us than they were before. I can't wait to see Sasha and Marcy tomorrow and finally get to see my parents.
Sasha couldn't stop the tears from flowing. I screwed things up again...I never considered Anne's feelings throughout all of this...
...maybe I am a terrible person...
