The townsfolk of Wartwood were hard at work preparing for Marcy's ceremony. The townsfolk wanted to pay tribute to their fallen hero. Unfortunately, they didn't have a body, so she couldn't be buried. King Andrias still had her in his castle.

Sasha was helping with the preparations for the ceremony, along with Grime. Ivy and Maddie were talking off to the side. Ivy couldn't believe that Sprig got trapped in the human world with Anne, and Maddie was comforting her. Sasha couldn't help but feel bad about this. About everything. She felt she was the wrong person to give the speech about Marcy, but she was prepared to go through with it anyway.

She took her position on the stage in front of the crowd of frogs, with some newts and toads also being in the crowd. Mayor Toadstool stood by her as she prepared to read the speech that she spent all night writing. Grime gave Sasha a wave from the crowd, and Sasha gave a weak wave back. She cleared her throat and began reading her speech.

"People of Wartwood...we have gathered here to say goodbye to one of the kindest, smartest, and most gifted people I ever knew..."

Sasha looked out into the crowd. She could see the sorrow in everyone's faces. She continued.

"Marcy was always the smart one in my group, and though I never played those games she'd talk about...she would always talk about it with such passion that...you kinda can't help but to be sucked in as well...I..."

Why am I stopping?

Sasha saw the faces in the crowd, and she was struggling to go on. All she could focus on were the faces staring at her. Sasha was cold sweating and shaking.

"I...can't do this..."

Sasha walked off stage, to the surprise of the crowd. Mayor Toadstool took over and addressed the crowd

"I apologize everyone. I think Sasha just...needs a moment to herself..."

Sasha stood by the bridge, shaking, trying to calm down. I can do this...I just need to get back out there and finish...I'm Sasha Waybright! I've never backed away from anything, and I won't start now!

After a few minutes, Sasha was about to head back...but then she noticed something off in the distance...something bad...

No...this can't be...

Sasha looked on in horror at the massive robot army in the distance and ran back over to the stage to warn everyone.

"Everyone! There's an army outside of Wartwood! You need to evacuate now!"

The crowd started panicking and running off into the woods as the army of robots arrived. There were a few hundred robots positioned in front of Wartwood, with a hooded figure at the front who walked forward and spoke.

"I have official orders from King Andrias to capture you and Grime...surrender now and nobody gets hurt..."

As the figure walked towards Sasha, they tripped over a rock and face planted onto the ground with a thud.

"Ow..."

Sasha recognized that voice...and the clumsiness...no...it couldn't be...

"Ah, sorry...let me try this again..."

"Marcy?"

The hood was taken off, revealing Marcy's face. Marcy looked confused.

"I'm sorry...have we met?"

Sasha was hit with a wave of emotions. She's...alive? But how? And why doesn't she remember me?

"Marcy...it's me...Sasha...your best friend...you'd hang out with me and Anne all the time back home...please...you gotta try to remember..."

"Hmmm..." Marcy pondered for a moment. "Nope, sorry, not ringing a bell. Anyway, the king told me to capture you and Grime, so...I kinda don't have a choice..."

"Marcy, don't do this! Please! We can talk this out!"

"It's nothing personal...but I need to bring you in...by force, if necessary..."

Sasha couldn't believe what was happening. Marcy was alive...but she didn't remember her or Anne at all, and she was working for King Andrias again. If only I could refresh her memory...

Before Sasha could think of anything to remind Marcy of her and Anne, Marcy drew her sword.

"Marcy, please...I don't want to hurt you..."

"Draw your sword...I want this to be a fair fight..."

Sasha grabbed the hilt of her blade...but she stopped...I can't do this...I can't hurt Marcy...

"I...surrender..." Sasha fell to her knees before Marcy.

"What? Are...are you sure?"

"Yes, Marcy...I...can't go ahead with this...not if you're gonna get hurt..."

Marcy was conflicted. "I...I don't understand...what kind of trick are you playing?"

"It's no trick...Marcy, I..."

Before she could finish her thought, Grime swung through and grabbed Sasha and made a run for it.

"Grime?"

"I got you, Sasha!"

"Oh no you don't!" Marcy ran after them, but they were too far ahead. She drew her crossbow and fired an arrow off, hitting Grime in the shoulder.

"Grime!"

Grime fell onto the ground, bleeding from his shoulder. He tried to move, but he couldn't.

"Go, now!" Grime motioned Sasha towards the woods.

"No! I'm not gonna leave you!"

"I said go! You need to go help the others! I'll be fine! Just go!"

Sasha backed away, and after some hesitation, ran off into the woods.

Marcy stood before Grime.

"Crud, there's no way I can catch up to her now...but, at least I have you...I could use that to my advantage...and don't worry, the paralysis is temporary. You should be able to move again in about...uh, I don't know, an hour, based on your height and weight..."

"Whatever you're planning, Sasha won't fall for it...she could smell a trap from a mile away..."

"Even if she knows it's a trap...I'm sure she'd risk it for a friend..."

The robots grabbed Grime and Marcy led the army out of Wartwood. Marcy looked back on the little farming town.

Why do I feel I've been here before?
