A/N: Apologise for the delay, I was hoping to have this one up after Vault of Glass came back but work and delayed it.

The GOOD news is that, because next chapter is more or less done as well, I am planning to have that up the reset after this one.

Saga 02: The Monster of Luna

Arc 04: Crota's End

Chapter 34: Thanatosphere

Ascendant Realm

The Oversoul Throne

"There are things at play that even you couldn't dream of," Crota sneered, grinning from ear to ear.

Delta frowned. "He's stalling," he growled.

"Of course I am," Crota replied with a simple shrug. "I'm on my last legs. YOU'RE on your last legs. So, tell me, denizens of the Light…how much Light do you all have left to stop THIS?!"

(Darkness of the Unknown Phase 2- KH2.5 OST)

The sky around them rumbled as the cracked moon began to glow, burning with emerald-green fire. Several tendrils of wormrot burst out of it, snaking their way to Crota before ensnaring him and pulling him into its core.

Crota's vicious laughter echoed around the castle as the shell of the moon began to move, tornadoes of petals whirling around them, lifting them upwards, while too stayed swirling around Crota like a shield. The rock structures above the core cracked apart, while the spiralling wormrot formed into long clawed hands as a head-like carapace formed above the core.

Below it, more wormrot swirled into a snake-like tendrils, sweeping up debris into a whirling dervish under the beast. The core then cracked like an egg, revealing Crota riding the gale with wormrot bursting from his back, snaking their way to the giant monstrosity like strings of a puppet. He smiled, three gem-like eyes opening on the carapace of the monster he had become.

OVERSOUL THRONE

THE LIVING DEATH

"SCATTER!" was the first panicked cry from Kayla's mouth.

Fireteam Storm bolted, stumbling over the broken platforms of the courtyard as several blasts of wormrot collided with the ground. Shifter, Athena and Hayley huddled behind a largely wall, sheltering from repeated blasts from Crota. Jaeger kept to a crumbling pillar, heart racing. Kayla darted behind an upturned Hive statue, dragging Delta behind with her and narrowly avoiding a lance from the Oversoul.

"Well, this is new and terrifying!" Delta said quickly. "Kayla, what do we do?"

Kayla swallowed hard, only able to stare at him.

"Oh, fuck…" he breathed.

"Do you really think you can hide from me?!" Crota snarled, sweeping up the Hive statue in the gale emanating from him.

Kayla and Delta bolted, clambering up to the door they came in through.

"Everyone, get inside!" Kayla ordered, beckoning to her team.

Jaeger looked from Kayla to the others behind, unsure, before taking a deep breath and running for the doorway. The other three followed him, narrowly avoiding the pillars of flame that burst around them as the Oversoul Throne shook itself apart.

"Oh, no, you DON'T!" Crota jeered.

There was a groan as the arms of the Oversoul moved before lunging with an outstretched palm that hurled dozens of boulders at the Guardians.

"No!" Kayla cried out, the two Titans shoving the fireteam off the platform as the rocks barricade the exit to the door.

Kayla landed hard, rolling onto her stomach. "O-Oh God…" she whispered.

"Kayla?" Ghost said, materialising in front of her. "Kayla!"

"I-I've killed us all…" she gasped quietly.

Don't make the same mistakes I did…

"Did you hear that?" Delta asked, keeping under cover.

"Kayla, look at me," Ghost said sternly.

There's always a Light…

"The hell…?" Shifter grunted, looking up at the platform they fell from.

"Oh, what now?!" Athena growled, aiming her weapon.

Stood above them, like a projection of shimmering sunlight, was a person. A woman. Seemingly she was unaffected.

"Kayla Ashcroft," the woman said with restrained concern. "You need to get up."

A faint 'what?' was all the Voidwalker could muster.

"Get. Up." The woman repeated.

"There's…a spike of Light readings…" Ghost murmured. "Kayla, she's not telling you to get up…"

"Get UP!" the voice repeated. "CLIMB!"

"She's literally telling us to get up! The roof!"

"The roof?!" Jaeger exclaimed. "Is she CRAZY?!"

"You?!" Crota snarled with unusual hatred. "I thought you died with the REST OF THEM?!"

The Light projection tilted her head in the Fireteam's direction. "I will show the way."

She disappeared as a barrage of fireballs struck the upper wall, causing it collapse. In the mess of falling debris a large crystalline structure fell and shattered, a large shard ricocheting into the lower wall causing it to collapse.

"W-We…" Kayla said, looking at her teammates. Delta, though shaking, nodded. Kayla relaxed slightly. "We need to get to the roof, right?"

"We can home you in on the signal," Ghost replied, the others nodding in agreement.

"Better than nothing," she said shakily, taking point. "Lets go!"

The Guardians disappeared into the castle basements, followed by Crota's echoing laughter. "This world is MY design. You move through my castle like insects under skin."

Fireteam Storm raced through the crumbling halls, Crota furious yells echoing behind them as they felt the assault of his Oversoul batter the castle around them. They pushed the snaking corridors, through open dungeons that seemed to contain half-rotting carcasses of species none of them recognised.

"C'mon, c'mon," Kayla muttered. "Door, gimme a door!"

"Kayla, on our right!" Delta shouted, skidding back to another hallway they'd passed. "That Light…imprint…person is there!"

"Go! Go!" Kayla ordered, shoving the others back.

As they powered through the corridor the castle shook again, a burst of wormrot crashing through the floor and flooding the doorway, causing it to crash down itself.

"Dammit, NO!" Jaeger yelled.

"Wait, I think there's another way…" Athena said, pointing up. "Look!"

The Guardians looked above them, seeing an opening in the ceiling to the ground floor. Without any time to waste, they hastily clambered up; Shifter and Jaeger first, both thrown up by the two Titans, followed by the Warlocks. Together the four of them hoisted Delta and Athena up. Before the had a chance to get their bearings, the Oversoul ripped its way through the walls, swarming around them while the petals converged to create numerous copies of Crota.

"Run!" Kayla ordered, cutting down the doppelgangers of the Hive Prince with the Mythoclast. They fell with ease but were soon replaced by more.

Fireteam Storm hurried towards the grand staircase that dominated the ground floor. Kayla, Delta and Athena reached the top first, taking the left-hand split when the staircase branched out. Before the other three could follow, the massive arm of the Oversoul ripped through the wall and knocked them back.

"The other branch, lets go!" Jaeger said hurriedly.

The arm shifted, tearing itself free from where it had landed before moving back in for another attack, one that was stopped by Delta's Mos Epoch launcher. There was a cackle from outside before another arm burst through the wall behind Kayla, Delta and Athena.

"Fuck off!" Athena shouted, booted the arm in the wrist before crushing it under her hammer.

Kayla turned to the other three as the helped each other. "Meet at the next stairwell!" she yelled.

Jaeger gave a pilot's salute the ran up the stairs, followed by Kayla's group on the others. The first floor appeared to be more akin to two large viewing balconies than an actual floor, with a gap wide enough to hang several chandeliers in.

The bombardment stopped again, this time a clone of Crota materialising on Kayla's side. It sneered at them wordless and charged, only to be ripped apart by a shoulder check from Delta. The petals burst apart and reformed behind them trio. Athena ducked as it lunged again but focused fire from Kayla's Mythoclast tore it arm off. Still the double staggered towards them, using its other arm in an attempt to crush them as it forced them on the back foot.

Across the gap the arms of the Oversoul's monstrous visage tore into the wall repeatedly, scraping and breaking the structure around Jaeger, Shifter and Hayley like someone frantically dig into a bleeding wound with their nails. Shifter jumped over the hand is it burst again, firing on it with his sidearm. It slithered off, allowing Hayley to cross the floor but no sooner had she started, the hand burst through again, this time pointedly taking out the floor under her. Hayley stumbled, jumping up to Shifter. She turned, face a portrait of fear, before firing on the arm with her rocket launcher.

Crota roared in annoyance, this time taking the floor out under Jaeger. The Bladedancer jumped in surprise, hopping across the crumbling walkway before jumping towards the chandelier. He grabbed the metal that pinned it the ceiling high above before swinging onto the next one, hopping his way across.

The Crota-clone hounding Kayla's group didn't take kindly to this, dissembling into a vortex of wormrot and launching itself at Jaeger. Jaeger jumped again, hopping across the chandeliers as though they were steppingstones while the vortex hounded him from behind. A furious yell from Hayley was backed up by gunfire from her auto-rifle. The vortex turned its attention to her, skidding behind her and Shifter is it reassembled itself into Crota.

Kayla aimed her Mythoclast again but her aim was thrown off when Crota's Oversoul ripped a large chunk out of the wall, leaving a howling void in its wake.

"There you are," he sneered, the carapace's hands cupping together near its side, a swirling green flame forming within it.

"Ohmigod…" Kayla breathed, turning to Hayley and Shifter. "GET DOWN!" she screamed, ducking down herself as a massive blast of green fire flew over the heads of the Guardians. She could hear the Oversoul churn as the fiery pillar moved across them, melting the very wall itself. All she could focus on in the chaos was Athena's terrified expression and Delta's panicked eyes as he tried to plan for their next move.

Shifter barely had time to react when he heard Kayla's orders. The clone and knocked Hayley down and was on its way to him. Taking a leaf out of the Titans' books, he shoved it over the Sunsinger's prone body before pinning himself and Hayley to the floor just in time for the Mega Flare to melt Crota's wormrot puppet before it rocketed off their heads.

At the other side of the balcony Jaeger had already made it, triumphantly ready to show off. When he turned, all he could see was the pillar of fire tearing through both walls before dissipating. The glee on his face slowly sank into stunned silence and then cold dread.

"No, not again…!" he breathed, rushing over to them as the flame dissipated.

"We're ok!" came Kayla's voice, grounding Jaeger.

Jaeger's grimace faltered slightly. "W-Well don't keep me waiting!"

"Never mind that, he's charging another one!" Delta said, hurrying to his feet. "You two, get over there while we have the chance!"

"I can see you!" Crota taunted from outside. "I can taste your despair!"

The rest of the Guardians regrouped with Jaeger before heading up the stairway to the second floor, but another quake through the castle as well as the roaring heat signalled another Mega Flare ripping its way across the first floor- this time it angled upwards, taking out most of the initial portion of the second floor as they reached the top.

"Whoa!" Jaeger yelped, being dragged back by Athena when he slipped off the crack.

Kayla scanned the room. It was open save for a few pillars, with the staircase to the third floor at the opposite end.

"Straight run!" Kayla ordered, leaping the chasm.

Before the group had made it even a quarter of the way across several chunks of rock came flying through the left wall, including a statue of what Kayla figured was another Hive God- one seemingly more menacing that Crota himself.

"I hope my Father's gaze will be the last thing you think of!" Crota snarled darkly from around them.

Shifter nudged Delta and darted to the right, Delta beckoning the others to follow. While they moved around the statue, and the rubble it was hurled with, the glass of the right-hand windows shattered, the Oversoul cracking the building like an egg. Its core cracked open like a gaping maw revealing the real Crota within. He smirked, slamming his sword into the mass of wormrot he was stood on.

Several runes appeared on the floor, glowing a shimmering emerald green before they erupted into pillars of fire that shook the room.

"Oh shit!" Delta said, jumping back from blistering heat as a flare burst underneath him. Around him Fireteam Storm had already been split up. "Dammit…" he muttered. "Don't worry about getting split up, stairwell is the priority!"

"You should focus on yourself!" Crota jeered, appearing before Delta on a snaking spiral of wormrot, grabbing him and pounding him into the floor.

Through the daze Delta saw Crota raise his sword, only to be hit with a rocket followed by several grenade launcher rounds. He snarled, seemingly pulled back into the Oversoul involuntarily. Delta felt himself get lifted as Kayla and Hayley entered his view.

"Thanks for the save," he offered weakly, shaking himself out of his daze.

"Don't mention it," Kayla replied, gesturing the others to keep going before turning back to Delta. "Are you alright?"

"Ehhh, I've had worse," he said wearily. "Be glad when this is done." The Titan couldn't help but give a sad chuckle. "One way or the other."

Kayla wished she could reassure him but found herself on unable to say anything. It was Delta that urged her forward. By the time they'd reach the stairs the explosions of fire had stopped, and the churning groan outside signalled that the Oversoul was moving again.

While the others caught their breath, Kayla did a brief head count before looking further up. The apparition stared at her intensely, flickering and disappearing again. With a tired sigh Athena stepped forward, followed by Kayla then the others.

"Halfway up!" the Voidwalker encouraged. "Not much further!"

No sooner had she said that the tendrils of the Oversoul burst from the floor, creating a chaotic vortex of destruction that dominated the room. Crota's laughter emanated from within. She felt an arm help her up but found all 6 of them pinned on the stairwell. Athena looked around, spying a window just above them. She hopped up, kicking it through.

"This way!" she yelled.

"Outside?!" Jaeger protested.

"We don't have another way," Kayla responded gravely.

"…Dammit!" Jaeger said, clambering up.

One by one Fireteam Storm crawled out of the window, finding themselves on one of the castle's balconies that circled around the fortress. The gargantuan monster that Crota's Oversoul had become dominated the skyline. It churned, moving closer to them for a better look.

"Finally showing yourselves, hmm?" Crota taunted, punching the castle wall.

The building shook, Shifter pulling Hayley back from the edge as the quaking nearly threw Storm off. Debris rained down on them from above, Crota pulling the beast's arm back for another shot. Delta let out a frustrated growl.

"I'm getting sick of DEALING with Hive BULLSHIT!" he yelled, firing of his Mos Epoch launcher at the incoming fist.

Crota let out a pained a yell, the arm dropping and reforming itself. Delta blinked in surprised. "…Hey, that worked!"

"Get moving, D!" Kayla ordered quickly, nudging him from behind.

"A lucky shot…" Crota growled. "It won't happen again."

"It's moving!" Jaeger warned as the Oversoul kaiju cut across the skyline.

As it did so the vortex from within the castle poured out, taking out the castle wall and scooping it up, nearly taking the Guardians with it. Jaeger turned the corner, finding the pathway had gave way in the carnage.

"Dammit!" he spat. "We need another way up, this way's fucked!"

Kayla looked up, seeing the debris tumble around Crota as he hurled it back at the castle like a trebuchet. "Well…there is another way up…" she said hesitantly, looking up at opening to the fourth floor.

"Ah, great…" Jaeger sighed. "Shifter, come with me."

The Nightstalker nodded and the pair leaped onto a passing rock, Jaeger screaming as they were hurled around the vortex. The Bladedancer clung, clambering up the rocks and crushed boulders for safety. A swirl of wormrot took the shape of Crota in front of him, reaching out.

"What do you hope to accomplish?" Crota asked, moving closer.

A sniper shot rang out behind him, prompting Jaeger to duck. The doppelganger shattered into petals again, rejoining the swarm. Jaeger looked back, chuckling, until he felt Shifter grab him, bringing both of them to another smashed tower as the previous crashed into more debris.

"When we swing round again, we'll move," Shifter said calmly. "Keep an out for Crota."

The shattered tower spun around in the wind, the two Hunters bracing themselves as it swung around the back of the Oversoul. While Shifter kept a look out for more doppelgangers, Jaeger eyed a bright light at the top of the castle.

"Kayla?" he said. "I've got eyes on where the woman wants us to go. It's the very top of the castle."

"Noted," Kayla replied, fighting off a clone of Crota. It disintegrated, rejoining the Oversoul as another boulder came tumbling towards them with two Guardians riding it. The boulder shattered, chunks of stone raining down on Fireteam Storm. "Jaeger! Shifter! Report?!" Kayla screamed as she clung to the ruined wall.

"We made it, Captain," Shifter replied.

"Right, right…" Kayla breathed with a sigh of relief. "Cool. Hayley, you're up next."

"W-What?" the Exo squeaked, looking at Athena. "Is it safe?"

"Safer than here, now hold on for your life!" Athena said, shoving Hayley on to an incoming statue of Crota before leaping on herself.

"WE'RE GONNA DIE!" Hayley screamed.

"Think positive," Athena reassured nervously, ducking under a stray chunk of crystal.

"WE'RE GONNA DIE QUICKLY!"

Athena stood, Hayley clinging to her leg for safety. The Sunbreaker watched the wall come closer and closer before their island swung back into the vortex. "Can you make the jump if I give you a push?" she asked, watching a flat slab fly under them.

"Y-Yeah…" Hayley said, realising what Athena was up to. "I don't really have a choice to be honest…"

"That's the spirit!" Athena cheered. "That slabs coming round again. On three…"

Hayley braced herself.

"Three!" Athena shouted, dragging Hayley onto the slab with her.

Hayley wanted to yell at the Sunbreaker but decided against it. Instead, she steadied herself, feeling the slab shift in the wind as it adjusted to the extra weight. From above she watched Crota hound the others.

"Seems he's more interested in Kayla," she mused, bracing herself as the platform came round the Oversoul again. "I'm ready."

Athena nodded and charged with a powerful yelling, shunting Hayley over the chasm to the wall. The Sunsinger waited for the highest point of the arc before gliding to the edge of the upper platform where she was caught by Jaeger and Shifter.

"Thank you," she said sheepishly. "What are we doing?"

"Keeping Crota distracted," Shifter replied, firing a bolt from his Tarantula into Crota's monstrous form. "Whatever that's doing for us…"

Crota growled in annoyance, lunging one of his upper arms towards the trio but the screaming of Athena flying through the vortex, and through his arm, caused him to back off. Athena landed in a heap, bleeding but otherwise ok. She got up, which the arm reassemble itself while Crota glared at them, his annoyance slowly turning into frustration. He pulled his fist back, readying another punching. What came instead was a rocket from Delta.

Crota snarled, a swirl of wormrot surrounded him as he lunged from his kaiju core. Delta's face fell as Crota appeared before him, still snared by the Oversoul itself, grabbing his throat before slamming him into the thin walkway. A flurry of laser fire turned Crota's attention to Kayla.

"Will you cut that OUT?!" he yelled, dropping Delta and grabbing Kayla before flinging her into the vortex surrounding them all.

Kayla tumbled in the wind like a leaf, limbs flailing as she bounced off a stray bit of debris. She reached her hand out and Blinked, teleporting into a sturdier slab. She balanced herself, spreading her weight and readied her Mythoclast again.

"Tell me, Kayla?" Crota chuckled. "Are you certain you can trust Eris?"

"I trust my friends," Kayla replied firmly, eying Delta as he took the opportunity to scale the wall on his own.

Crota scoffed. "When will you Lightbearers realise you can only trust the strength of yourself?"

The vortex suddenly stopped, Crota turning and focusing all his attention on Kayla. The vortex closed in around her while Crota leered closer from within his carapace, his body glowing. "You should be honoured! No Lightbearer has seen my Oversoul Gaze since Eriana-3."

"Oh, shit!" Delta gasped when he got to the others. "Focus fire!"

"Where?!" Athena yelled angrily.

"Ah…Gaaah…" Delta said waveringly, his eyes focusing on the red-hot orb that merged Crota with the greater monster. "That core there!"

Kayla held her breath, scanning for anyway out while Crota loomed like the phantasm Omnigul and conjured in Rasputin's bunker. Suddenly there was a chorus of bullet fire and explosions. Crota buckled, howling in pain, as the Oversoul snapped open.

"Kayla, get ready to jump!" Delta shouted over her comms.

Kayla blinked in confusion before spying another rocket flying into the platform she was on. She jumped, the momentum batting her upwards as she teleported over Crota. When she reappeared she threw her hand out, feeling Delta grasp it. He huffed, straining at the sudden weight that had dropped into his hands, feeling the other grab his waist and heave them both up.

"That's what? Twice now?" Delta said with a faint laugh.

"Shut up and get moving," Kayla replied, lightly punching his arm.

Kayla took off up the stairs, her friends close behind. With Crota seemingly stunned the group had a clear shot to the castle ramparts, a pathway marked by the flickering form of the woman from before.

"Everyone up there!" Kayla ordered, hanging back to make sure they were all safely up.

The group stumbled up the stairs, Kayla close behind them. When they reached the top, the apparition took off- this time to the tallest tower. The room at the very peak of it seemed to be glowing, a swirling mass of flickering fog around.

"What even is that?" Athena asked.

"THAT is none of your concern!" Crota bellowed around them.

The massive kaiju form of the Oversoul rose up from behind them, torrents of wormrot spilling out of it. In front of them another mass of wormrot formed into a clone of Crota. The clone continued, "And you will NEVER reach it!"

"He's scared of it," Kayla murmured.

"If we could get that core exposed to whatever's up there…" Delta suggested, though it was obvious he was clutching at straws.

"Still," Kayla replied, turning back to the looming shadow of Crota's crackling Oversoul. "How do we even make it?"

Athena growled at the clone. "We just need one of you to make it to the tower, right?" she asked, looking pointedly at Kayla.

Kayla was reluctant to answer, until Hayley gave a very faint. "…Yes."

Athena nodded in response. "Smash 'im," she spat with ferocious anger.

Athena took point, followed by Jaeger and Shifter, then Delta and finally Hayley. Kayla took another look at the Oversoul then joined them. The Crota-clone twirled its blade in its hand as Athena charged forward with a powerful scream.

The clone lunged, countering Athena and headbutting her. The Sunbreaker tanked the hit and charged forward again, this time striking her through the gut. The clone disintegrated but another one formed a bit away from it completely unharmed. Jaeger vaulted over Athena and charged, backed up by suppressive fire from Shifter's sniper rifle. The Crota-clone jerked back, its head reforming from the sniper round that tore through it with a frustrated growl.

"GUARD!" Crota snarled.

Shifter cocked his head in confusion before another clone of Crota smacked him down, sword raised. The clone was shattered by Delta, who helped the Nightstalker to his feet. Shifter nodded in thanks turning his attention to Kayla, who had stopped to deal with the reforming clone.

"Let us handle it!" he ordered, reloading his Long Shadow. "You need to get to that tower."

"But…" Kayla protested.

"You heard him," Delta insisted. "Get going!"

Kayla relented, slowly backing up before powering after Hayley. Delta smirked at Shifter. "Never heard you yell before," Delta said with a chuckle.

"Shut up. Focus," Shifter replied with a roll of his eyes.

Delta could only laugh and charged the clone with a shoulder check while Shifter launched a full clip of sniper rounds at the doppelganger. Further ahead Jaeger had pounced on the clone, severing its head with a knife before gunning down the body. Another clone formed behind him but was struck down but Hayley rocket as it whizzed over the Bladedancer's head.

"Watch where you fire that thing!" Jaeger shouted.

Hayley and Athena joined him, all prepared for battle. Kayla ran past them all, yelling. "Athena, with me!"

Athena turned questioningly, seeing Kayla was pointing to an open window halfway up the tower. Her smirk turned into a devilish grin.

"Be right back," she said, chasing after Kayla.

Kayla tensed herself. "On the count of three!" she said.

"THREE!" Athena yelled, sweeping Kayla up by the legs and spinning her around like discus before hurling her up into the air. Kayla swallowed down vomit as she felt herself sail through the wind, reaching a hand out, and clambering into the tower at speed.

"You're welcome!" Athena shouted from below.

"Fucking Titans…" Kayla gasped, getting to her feet. The apparition flickered before Kayla again.

"Up!" it insisted.

"Yeah, yeah," Kayla muttered under her breath before powering up the stairs.

A crash into the tower threw her forward, and she didn't need to see to know who it was.

"YOU WON'T GET ANOTHER STEP FURTHER!" Crota bellowed, wormrot filling the hollow stairwell as the Oversoul pulled itself off and launched another attack.

Kayla bounded up the stairs, eyes focused on the Light emanating from above. The tower shook, Crota's hate-filled roar echoing from below. "You have nowhere else to run, Kayla!"

"Kayla, the clones have gone!" Delta said through her headset. "That entire thing's focused on you now."

"Don't shoot until I get to the top!" Kayla ordered, cutting off the question she knew was coming.

Delta watched from below, his fear building every time the Oversoul threw itself into the tower. "I-I don't think that's worth the risk, Captain," he said gravely.

Kayla burst through the wooden door into the top room. The glow had died down and, in the centre surrounded by several Hive goblets was a huge basin filled with liquid Light. Putting her questions aside, Kayla contacted Delta.

"Don't worry, I'm- AH!" Kayla screamed, the claws of the Oversoul's gnarly finger ripping the roof of the tower off, the stone and rubble crumbling into dust.

"Now then," Crota seethed. "Look at me. I want to see your despair when you die."

"Shit!" Delta snapped, pulling out his rocket launcher. "Fuck the signal, heavy fire!"

Fireteam Storm let out everything had; rockets, machine gun fire, grenades, fusion bolts, all at the crack under Crota's Oversoul that exposed the core of the thing. Up top Crota buckled again, his anger towards the Guardians growing.

"Fine!" he snarled at Kayla, the giant mass of Wormrot and stone shifting to look at the other Guardians. "Then I'll kill them!"

With Crota distracted, the apparition appeared in the centre of the room. "The Light," it said. "Use it."

Kayla hesitant reached a hand into the basin. Without warning, the Light rushed through her and several flashes of people she didn't know with it. "Fuck…!" she gasped, feeling the power of thousands of Guardians flow through her. "W-What is…"

"You have a Super," the apparition insisted.

"I-I…"

"You have a Super," the apparition repeated, taking the shape of an Exo. "Use. It. …We will help you."

Kayla looked up at Crota's Oversoul, the belly and core of the beast exposed as it threw all it had at them. Kayla straightened, moving back to the doorway. In her palm she began to form a Nova Bomb, one stronger and more powerful than she'd managed before.

Kayla took a deep breath and ran forward, hurling the Nova Bomb towards Crota's Oversoul. As she let go, the Nova grew in size while the purple gradually turned into a bright platinum glow. The orb of collapsing Light collided with Crota, the Hive Prince howling in pain. The Nova Bomb shattered into several smaller seekers that collided with core again. There was a rumbling and then a detonation, the Oversoul shattering in blast that ripped through the tower, collapsing it on itself and sending Kayla hurling to the ground amidst the rubble.
