Cadenza was once a world of music, where everyone sang their unique heart song freely. That is, until they were attacked by a strange group called Coalescence. Now its up to a few Cadenzan refugees to find and train Pretty Cure warriors to fight back and regain their Amulets, items that hold all a person's uniqueness within them.

After a turbulent final year of high school, the Pretty Cure find university life to be pretty tame in comparison. That is, until a mysterious party invitation, and strange dreams with troubling connotations, bring them back to the last place they ever expected to see again: Frighton.

Two teams of genetically modified super girls have been created in order to fight strange prehistoric monsters wreaking havoc on the city. But where are the monsters coming from? Which team will unlock the secret? Do the girls have what it takes to be a superhero? And what is this about a ninth mew mew?

Frighton, the world of fear, has become active years after its initial defeat. The disturbance can be sensed all the way from Earth, where a small bat fairy named Boo sets out to find promising young women to become new Pretty Cure warriors and stop the fear from spreading once again.
