A/N: Hello friends! It's been a while since I posted, and I'm sorry :( I was busy, I had something else to write, I was worrying about school starting , and I hit writers block. Ok, lame excuses. But here I am now, so please, enjoy :)! This is just a little Amourshipping oneshot. Takes place shortly after Ash and Serena got married. Have fun reading!
Ash laid his head on the couch cushions, exhausted. He glanced at the clock mounted on the wall. It was 4 pm. It'd been days since he'd gotten a proper sleep. Pikachu was flopped across his chest, dead asleep, his small yellow paws twitching every once in while; indicating he was having a nice dream.
Serena walked into the living room, giggling slightly at the sight of her husband sprawled across the couch.
"Long day?"
"Mmm...so tired..." Ash groaned.
"I know...just two more weeks. " Serena replied quietly.
He'd been training, almost nonstop, so he could beat Alain and conquer the Kalos League. Alain had remained undefeated for almost eleven years. Ash had challenged him once before, and had come out unsuccessful. Alain was, after all, considered one of the most powerful champions, second only to the Sinnoh region champion or Ash. His second match was coming up in a mere two weeks. There was no time to waste. But there was another thing clogging his mind, something even more important than the champion title.
"Hey." Serena pushed Ash over, making room for herself on the couch. "Don't worry, okay? Your match will go fine. You've been training nonstop." She gently kissed his forehead, smiling. "I believe in you."
The raven haired man continued staring at the ceiling, albeit much more relaxed this time. Serena had a way of always knowing what he was thinking. Absentmindedly, he placed a hand on Serena's stomach, smiling slightly.
"How's the baby?" Ash whispered.
"She's great. She was really hungry today." Serena giggled.
Pikachu shot up from his nap, placing a paw on Serena's stomach, checking to see if the baby was still in there.
"Pi-pikachu!" He cooed.
"I bet she can't wait to meet you, Pikachu!" Serena replied, petting the little yellow mouse's tail.
They'd gotten the news a few months prior. In truth, they'd wanted to start a family, but weren't expecting it to happen so suddenly. And then, the couple found out the baby's gender, and it all seemed so surreal. They were going to be parents. Heck, they didn't even have a name for the little girl. It was still all setting in.
Ash threw his arm across his face, suddenly getting a bad feeling. "What if...I'm not a good father?"
Serena frowned. "Where did that come from?"
Ash sat up, still staring blankly at the ceiling. "It's just, with all that's going on, trying to beat Alain, and being out training all the time, I feel like I wouldn't be there enough." He finally looked at her. "I want to be there. I want to see her grow up. And I don't want to leave you alone."
Serena smiled slightly, and shook her head. "Of course you'll see her grow up. Even if champion duties keep you busy all the time, she'll still love you, and care for you. Because you're her father, and you'll be an inspiration to her. I'll make sure she knows all about our adventures in Kalos, too." Serena said, placing a hand on her stomach.
Ash still wasn't convinced. "I'll be travelling all the time."
"We can call each other."
"What if I don't have service? What if she doesn't remember me? What if-"
Serena wrapped her arms around her husband's neck, leaning onto his shoulder. His pulse was quickening. Ash rested his head on hers, finally calming down. Serena held him tighter.
"She will remember you. You are her father. And no matter what happens, I'll still love you, and you'll still love me." Serena pinched Ash's cheek. "So don't say things like that!"
He smiled, bolting up and rubbing the now tender spot on his cheek. He looked back at Serena, the usual sparkle in his eyes now returning. Pikachu leaped onto his shoulder, sensing his trainer's adrenaline building.
"I'll make sure that she has the best dad in the world! She'll be able to look up to me, and we'll be a great family! Ash paused, thinking for a moment. "But in meantime, I'm gonna need to train as hard as I can in order to be the best father I possibly can."
He got close to Serena, touching foreheads with her. "Wait for me, okay? You'll like the kind of person I'll grow into."
Serena giggled. "That's my line."
Ash chuckled in response. "Maybe it'll be hers from now on."
The couple leaned closer to each other to close the space between them, their love glowing and their bond everlasting.
That child….she'll be a lucky one.
A/N: Heyyy...so it's been a while! I started school, so the update schedule is probably gonna get weird. I'm so sorry. Also I know this chapter was short, but it was kinda meant to be like that since it's sort of just an Ash x Serena oneshot fluffy thing. Again, I'm ALWAYS looking to improve my writing. Suggestions are highly appreciated. Anyway, thank you so much for reading. Seriously. Love you, anonymous reader!
