![]() Author has written 60 stories for Rugrats/All Grown Up!, Cartoon X-overs, Arthur, Peanuts, Simpsons, Seinfeld, Kim Possible, Phineas and Ferb, WordGirl, 7D, Misc. Cartoons, Dilbert, Big Hero 6, Replacements, Lilo & Stitch, Wild Kratts, Martha Speaks, Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja, Gravity Falls, Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero, Bloom County, and Milo Murphy's Law. My favorite shows include the Simpsons, Thundercats, Danny Phantom, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (old and new), Total Drama Island, the Replacements, and many others. Since has rules about posting lists, as chapters, I thought I would use this as a chance to offer all of you fans a chance to understand the workings of my GOOD vs. EVIL series, so I present to you a list explaining the "rules" of sorts I use when writing said stories: When choosing the rosters, I tend to go with cartoons that are still on the air, although my extremely slow updating schedule and stupid network decisions usually means that a show has been cancelled before I start, so I at least tend to pick shows from this decade, or that are still airing repeats on other networks (anything on Disney XD, for example, is fair game). I don’t usually pick heroes that are already leaders of teams, since they’d have to divide their time between leading that team and helping out in the other one (i.e. why Robin from Teen Titans has never been a member) but of, course, there are exceptions. Choosing the locations the heroes visit is also based on what cartoons are current, although, as stated above, that too varies. If said place happens to have an attractive female lead (or two), that also plays a factor. Usually, I establish that all the characters live in the same place (i.e. our Earth) since it makes it easier for everyone to meet; however if their world has major contradictions to ours, then I establish they’re from an alternate universe (for example, I consider the DCAU to exist on our Earth, so any other non-DCAU shows are viewed as alternate universes). Since it’s hard to come up with credible reasons to visit an alternate universe, I only use them sporadically. Since the stories have so many characters, I go the Justice League route and only use a few characters per story. Who I pick depends on several factors, including whether or not I’ve used them before, and which ones offer the most comic potential. There’s usually at least one comedic character in each story. Sidekicks, or supporting hero characters, are allowed to go on missions, if their respective hero thinks they can be of use for that particular assignment. Henchmen, of course, go if their leader needs them and have no such choice. I like to do at least one “GOOD & EVIL try to recruit a new hero/villain to join their ranks” story at least once per batch, because some shows don’t introduce the full cast in the first episode, and often have an episode that introduces a major character later in its’ run, and I’ve always wanted to try that. Anime shows are usually never visited, because I don’t watch a lot of them; also, with all the debates about dubbing vs. subbing, and name changes, and proper move names and such, that’s a can of worms I don’t want to open; so no One Piece or Naruto, sorry. 3D cartoons are also off limits, as I’m not sure how the characters would react to becoming, to quote Timmy Turner “bulgy” (so, no Clone Wars). Of course, I could make exceptions to the rule. Usually, I only write about shows I watch or have seen, so I have a good handle on the characters. If I choose to write about something I've never seen, please bear with me if I get details wrong, and help me out if you can. Sorry I have not been present lately, but I have been having a dry spell writing wise, and my new hobby of doing episode guides for various shows has taken a lot of my time. However, with so much new animation, and inspired by some classics, I hope to have some new works up shortly. I am sad to announced that LOVE vs. HATE is on hiatus for the definitive future, until I decide to relaunch it, or come up with good plots. On the plus side, instead of writing stories chapter by chapter, as I did before, I now plan to write the story in it's entirety, then post it on a chapter by chapter basis. This should result in less waiting time between chapters. |
