Chapter Thirty-Four: Returned Soul
"Damn it not again!" Raditz-Ginyu yelled. He released his energy and charged after Ginyu-Yamcha, hurling his fist. Ginyu-Yamcha however easily avoided the attack, moving his neck out of the way. With an evil smirk, Ginyu-Yamcha rammed his knee into Raditz-Ginyu's gut.
Raditz-Ginyu already being as drained as he was, damaged as he was, this blow to his gut caused him to forcefully fall unconscious, causing him to fall from the sky and into the ground harshly. From behind Ginyu-Yamcha, Goku swung his two fists against the back of Ginyu-Yamcha's head, causing the body snatcher to fall towards the ground.
Ginyu-Yamcha stopped himself midway, and unleashed a volley of energy blasts, which Goku evaded easily, continuing to do so for several minutes.
"Give Yamcha his body back!" Goku yelled, as he dodged each and every blast.
"Never! If you want him to have it back, you'll have to take it from me!" Ginyu-Yamcha shouted. He flared his aura, tightened his fist, and powered up. "This one has more mastery of that Kaio whatever, I should be able to handle that power boost much better, I'll use it quickly and finish this bastard!"
Ginyu-Yamcha's veins bulged and his aura turned a crimson red. "Kaioken! Times Three!" Ginyu-Yamcha shouted, smirking wickedly. A cascade of strength, and energy overflowed his body, yet Ginyu-Yamcha remained whelmed.
"No!" Goku shouted. "Damn it! He's gonna burn Yamcha's body out!"
The two fighters simultaneously charged after each other, Ginyu-Yamcha hurled his fist first, and Goku narrowly dodged the attack, moving his head to the side. Goku hurled a fist back but Ginyu-Yamcha blocked the attack with his arm. Ginyu-Yamcha lifted his other fist against Goku's jaw and then right cheek.
Ginyu-Yamcha gathered energy in his left hand and pushed it against Goku's gut, the blast had unleashed itself, taking Goku and itself over a hundred of feet east. Goku had crashed into the water, causing huge waking waves to topple over him. For an exceedingly short moment, Goku fell unconscious, only to be re-awoken from a powerful kick against his back by Ginyu-Yamcha.
Goku had been sent up high in the air with Ginyu-Yamcha chasing after him. Ginyu-Yamcha gathered energy in his right fist to send a powerful punch to Goku again, but Goku managed to regain full consciousness, as well as his balance.
Goku had disappeared the second Ginyu-Yamcha threw his fist, and reappeared behind Ginyu-Yamcha, slamming his leg and foot against Ginyu-Yamcha's back.
"What in the…" Nail said, dropping his jaw in shock. He looked at the current situation, walked around the unconscious fighters, and became filled with questions. "What happened here…" He thought out loud.
A loud echoing boom took Nail's attention to the sky, where he saw two individuals he hadn't known, both were in orange jumpsuits, fighting each other. The only other one awake, that was watching the fight, was in fact Gohan.
Nail hovered up to the boy who was focusing his attention on the fight intensely, at least until he noticed Nail come by.
"M-Mr. Nail?" Gohan said, with a slight gasp. "W-What're you doing here?"
"I was asked by the Grand Elder to assist you in battle...but…" Nail replied. "It appears everything is under control..however I am a bit confused about the situation, perhaps you could explain it to me child?"
Gohan nodded in response, and to the best of his abilities, he explained the situation to Nail. After which Nail had a bit of an irritated sigh.
"So I left the Grand Elder's side for absolutely nothing." Nail asked.
Gohan shrugged. "I guess." He frowned, pausing for a second. "Where's Dende?"
"Not here...not yet." Nail answered, averting his gaze away, then immediately back. "He's on his way, but I sped ahead to come help."
Goku threw his hands out, then pulled them down to his waist, sparklets of blue energy shined, reflected, and collected together in between Goku's hands, quickly creating a bright blue sphere.
"Kamehame!" Goku shouted. Ginyu-Yamcha continued plummeting to the ground, and Goku prepared to act fast. "Sorry Yamcha, Hopefully your body will survive, but I gotta give it all I got before he takes another body or burns out your own!"
Goku saw Ginyu's eyes open, and at that instant he fired his attack, stretching his arms out, turning the sphere into a wave of energy. "HAAAA!"
Ginyu-Yamcha, having little time to react, rebalanced his feet on the nearby ground, and crossed his two arms in front of him.
"Damn it! I can't seem to catch a break!" Ginyu-Yamcha yelled in thought. Rapidly creating a red barrier with his aura, Ginyu-Yamcha bursted his energy once more, using a more powerful version of the Kaioken. The blast pushed itself against the barrier, but it could not consume.
"Come on! Just a little more!" Goku shouted. "Darn it! If I weren't so exhausted from earlier I could probably just about do it!"
With a powerful shout, Goku released more energy into the blast, the wave of energy expanded, growing wider and longer. The blast started to push Ginyu-Yamcha back, and although he kept his feet in the ground, the dirt dug up anyways.
About ten seconds later, the ground beneath Ginyu-Yamcha cracked, trembled, then collapsed beneath him, causing Ginyu-Yamcha to release his barrier, and the Kamehameha wave to strike him. After the dust and smoke settled, Goku quickly found Ginyu-Yamcha mostly unconscious, placing him up against a boulder.
The overuse of the Kaioken without proper training had caused obvious strain to Ginyu-Yamcha's muscle, and for his superbly short victory to be easily outlived. While Goku waited for Ginyu-Yamcha to wake up, he took a moment to think.
"Let's see…" Goku said. He placed a finger on his chin, looking up in the sky. "Everytime he changes his body, he always shouts, so maybe if he can't talk, then he can't change."
Goku smiled to himself as an idea walked in his mind. He took his energy and formed a band-shaped energy ring. He then wrapped it around Ginyu-Yamcha's mouth, and around his hands as well.
"That should do it!" Goku said cheerfully.
Both Gohan and Nail lowered themselves to the ground, then approached Goku. Gohan ran cheerfully up to his father, and Nail walked slowly.
"You did it Dad!" Gohan smiled.
"Yup! Now we just need to figure out what to do with him…" Goku replied. Goku paused for a second, turning his attention to Nail, having an observant look on his face before giving a friendly smile. "Hello, are you another Namekian?"
"Yes, my name is Nail, I had come over to help but…" Nail said. He looked at the unconscious fighter beside Goku then looked back. "It appears that was unnecessary and everything seems to be under control.. Although I stayed to assure that victory was taken care of."
"Well thanks anyways, better late than never I always say!" Goku replied. "Why don't you give us a hand with everyone, we could use some help carrying them to safety."
"I..I cannot, I must return to Guru's immediately, I apologise, but I must make haste." Nail replied.
"Ah, no proble-" Goku paused. Something strange prevented him from moving, opening his mouth, his face looking creepily blank, and his body frozen, then a sudden pain in his head erupted as he released an agonizing scream. "AAAGH!"
"D-Dad!" Gohan gasped.
"What in the world!?" Nail said, dropping his jaw.
Goku squeezed his head with his hands for a couple of seconds then stopped, the pain disappeared.
"D-Dad! Are you okay?!" Gohan asked.
"Y-Yea..Uh sorry, I dunno what happened.." Goku answered. His gaze seemed a bit distant for a moment, Goku lifted himself up, creating an odd wicked smirk, which Gohan hadn't noticed, but Nail on the other hand felt...something different. "Something must have just come over, I'll be fine. Let's get these uh guys somewhere safe…"
"Get behind me." Nail whispered.
Gohan tilted his head at Nail with much confusion. "What? Why?"
"Get behind me NOW!" Nail shouted. He stretched his left arm out in front of the confused and worried Gohan. "That's not your father! Someone else has taken control!"
"What?! How! Dad blocked Ginyu's mouth! I thought he couldn't change without shouting the words!" Gohan said, widening his eyes.
"Looks like he was wrong." Nail replied.
"Aw damn! And here I thought I could at least fool ya for a few minutes!" Ginyu-Goku said, laughing loudly. Without a second thought, he powered up, and charged after Nail and Gohan.
Ginyu-Goku hurled his fist against Nail's cheek, then immediately turned around to face the shocked and frozen halfbreed, picking him up by his neck.. tightly. Ginyu's grasp caused Gohan to struggle for air, the boy tried to move Ginyu-Goku's hand off, but to no avail.
"What better way to go out than being killed by your own Father's hands!" Ginyu shouted. The body snatcher laughed loudly and wickedly. "In a way it's poetic, for the boy's father had been taken, and the boy was left unable to do any help, too scared to hurt something that looked like his own father!"
Ginyu-Goku squeezed his hand, his grip on Gohan, much tighter. Gohan's pupils shrank, his hands forcefully relaxed, and his breath began to drop. Out of nowhere, Ginyu-Goku was knocked away, his grip released, and he slid across the ground. Somebody had landed a powerful blow into Ginyu-Goku's gut, forcing some air out of his lungs.
Gohan gasped for air, coughing loudly, and panting heavily. When Gohan moved his head around, glancing his eyes to see who had saved him, he'd expected it to be Nail, since after all it was Nail that was the only one awake. However he was shocked to see Vegeta here, although quite wounded and drained.
"V-Vegeta?!" Gohan gasped. "Y-You saved me?!"
"Tch! You only happened to be saved as a result of my actions, I had no intentions of saving you." Vegeta replied. "I merely wanted to give this bastard a piece of my mind!" Vegeta walked up close to Ginyu-Goku, his energy flaring, and his anger rising. He picked up Ginyu-Goku by the end of his shirt.
"So Captain Ginyu of the Retard Force thinks he has permission to take the body of a Saiyan?!" Vegeta yelled. Vegeta rammed his fist into Ginyu-Goku's gut. "How disgraceful! That the idiot Kakarot even let his body be stolen!" Vegeta rammed his fist against Ginyu-Goku's jaw, then his gut once more as he released his grip, causing Ginyu-Goku to crash and slide into the ground.
"Fool! Destiny has reserved the right for me to kill this bastard! And you try to steal that from me?!" Vegeta growled. He clenched his fist viciously, and rushed after Ginyu-Goku, who tried to stand up, to dodge Vegeta.
"Yea yea blah blah blah saiyan prince blah blah pride blah blah! I could careless Vegeta!" Ginyu-Goku shouted. He stepped to the side, narrowly avoiding Vegeta's attack "This body is mine now! And after I finish the rest of you off, Frieza will be widely pleased!" Ginyu struck his foot into Vegeta's back, causing Vegeta to be sent flying across the ground.
Ginyu-Goku stretched his right arm out, generating a big purple energy sphere, and three smaller ones that rotated around it.
"Say Goodbye Prince!" Ginyu-Goku yelled. He unleashed his energy, and the ground cracked, chunks of dirt and rock floated above. Gohan rushed to Ginyu-Goku and kicked the side of his head.
"SORRY DAD!" Gohanthought, gulping.
Ginyu-Goku crashed against the ground again, generating a very small crater, and the rubble to collapse over him. A short moment later, he reached out of the rubble and pulled himself up.
"You little!" Ginyu-Goku yelled. "BRAT! How dare you do that to the Captain of the Ginyu Force! Now I'm reconsidering letting you live!"
Ginyu-Goku unleashed a torrent of energy at Gohan, who once again froze allowing the blast to approach close, at least until a sweeping shadow grabbed Gohan and moved out of the way. The wave of energy consumed a small portion of ground in its way but not Gohan nor the shadowy figure as the two were safely away.
"You okay?" Nail asked. Gohan nodded in response. "Good, I'm gonna need your help."
"O-Okay." Gohan frowned.
Nail eyed the boy, seeing his nervous expression. "Hey, don't forget this isn't your father, it's another who's taken control." He said. "Your father won't even feel himself get hurt anyways, at least until he's back in his old body..unless it is healed before he returns."
"R-Right!" Gohan said, taking a firm stance.
Ginyu-Goku darted his eyes to the two, a bit shocked to see the Namekian from before standing mostly unscathed, and Gohan alive.
"I was unaware there were Namekians of your level on this planet." Ginyu-Goku said. He glanced at Gohan then back to Nail.
"You seem to be unaware of a lot of things if you hadn't noticed that." Nail remarked. "I am one of the last few warrior clans of my people, I am usually by the Grand Elder's side to protect him."
Ginyu-Goku raised an eyebrow. "Is that so? It's too bad I can't persuade you to join me. We could use a skilled...I could use a skilled warrior like you, with that sense of battle, and experience." Ginyu-Goku said. He took a couple steps forward. "Especially since…" Ginyu-Goku quickly eyed where his crew laid dead. "My old crew has been reported deceased."
"I would never join scum like you. It was the wicked evil-doers like you that have invaded our planet and wrecked havoc and mayhem in your trails!" Nail growled.
"Well that was about as much as I expected to hear." Ginyu-Goku said, sighing right after. "Then I guess there's no reason to prolong it anymore, let's cut the chit chat and fight."
"Gladly." Nail said. "After I'm done with you, you'll return that body to its source!"
With his fists balled and tightened, his aura flared, Nail let loose a powerful roar as he powered up, cracking the earth beneath him, gritting his teeth until he finished powering up. Immediately after, Nail charged after Ginyu-Goku who charged back at the same time, the two clashed arms then several more attacks instantly after.
Throwing fists and kicks at each but each blow not doing anything except causing minor tremors beneath the ground, and quick small shockwaves. If the two fighters...if any of these fighters had been fighting at an uncontrolled level, this planet would've been dust a long time ago, even the Earth could've been destroyed in the fight against Raditz when he had first arrived, so such display may seem little but is at much intensity.
"I just need to get one good hit! ONE GOOD HIT!" Nail thought. He hurled his fist but Ginyu-Goku blocked, and countered by throwing a fist of his own only for it to be blocked. Nail pulled his left fist a bit back, and gathered energy with it while blocking Ginyu-Goku's attacks with his other arm and limbs.
"C'mon C'mon C'mon! Just a little more!" Nail shouted in thought. Nail hurled his right fist, but missed, allowing Ginyu the opportunity to strike, Ginyu-Goku threw his fist against Nail's jaw, and swung his leg against Nail's gut.
Nail started to plummet but he quickly stopped himself, continuing to gather energy. Ginyu-Goku rushed after Nail, but a sudden kick to his face distracted him, a kick from Gohan in fact, the young halfbreed rammed his foot into the side of Ginyu's head, and then fired a purple energy wave at Ginyu.
Ginyu-Goku placed his two arms in front of himself creating a cross, and shielded himself from the wave of energy. Gohan fired another purple energy wave against Ginyu to shove him further forward but Ginyu-Goku wouldn't move despite the pressuring wave of energy.
"DOUBLE SUNDAY!" Gohan shouted. Once more he unleashed two waves of energy but Ginyu-Goku released an explosive wave of energy all around himself, erasing Gohan's blast away and anything else around him.
Ginyu-Goku panted heavily afterwards, and relaxed after taking a good breath. "You got guts kid. It's too bad I'm gonna have to kill you now." Ginyu-Goku said. He flew towards Gohan, preparing to throw his fist, as Gohan quickly embraced himself for impact.
However, around that same moment, Nail had darted to Ginyu-Goku, hurling his left charged fist against Ginyu-Goku's gut. Ginyu-Goku's oxygen was pushed out of his lungs causing him to gasp, struggling for air, yet he had no time to even regain his breath, Nail took this chance to inflict an onslaught of attacks.
Nail rammed his fist against Ginyu-Goku's jaw, then slammed his foot against Ginyu-Goku's chest, sending Ginyu-Goku plummeting to the ground. Ginyu-Goku crashed and impacted the ground harshly, making a loud thump noise, causing the ground to slightly crack and break as it trembled from the sheer force. Ginyu-Goku's rib cage had fractured, and his back had broken yet he still tried to stand.
Ginyu-Goku's stance was wobbly as he could barely stand himself, blood built up inside his mouth as he spat out a mixture of blood and saliva, every breath he was taking caused him immense pain. Finally, Naill took a deep breath in and out.
"N-No! I was s-so c-close! I can't g-give up now! I must change! Again!" Ginyu thought. As Nail had rapidly lowered himself to the ground, Ginyu stretched his arms out and shouted once more. "CHANGE NOW!"
"MR NAIL LOOK OUT!" Gohan shouted.
Instinctively, Nail leaped out of the way, the orange blast bounced off the ground, and flew skyhigh before falling once more towards the ground right on top of a frog, a frog that had red beady eyes, black line pupils, and green dotted skin.
As Nail processed what had recently occurred, he stood back up, and looked around the battlefield, he saw Goku's body, unconscious, despite recently being swapped with a frog. He looked back at the Frog trying to escape and grabbed him by the legs.
"In this form, you'll no longer be able to harm the lives of the innocent no longer. I think this shall suffice as a punishment for your crimes." Nail said. He turned around and walked over to Gohan. "Thanks for the help, young one."
"Of course!" Gohan smiled. The boy frowned as he turned to the battlefield. "But what're we going to do about them though?"
Nail stared into space as he rubbed his chin in thought, after a quick and short moment something had come to mind.
"Do you know where the Dragon Balls are?" Nail asked.
Gohan shook his head. "Er...No not really." Gohan answered. Nail sighed in response. "But, I think Krillin still has the radar on him if it isn't broken. We can use that to find them."
"Alright, then let's check, if we can get the Dragon Balls, we can ask the Dragon to restore the souls to their proper place." Nail said.
Nail followed Gohan over to Krillin as he tried to wake the bald monk. "Darn no good, he's too far unconscious." Gohan said. He checked Krillin's pocket and felt a round circular object, hoping this to be the Dragon Radar, his face had lit up. Gohan pulled it out of Krillin's pocket to find it cracked on the screen, among other small scratches and damage. His happy grin had quickly turned into a frown once again.
Gohan pressed the button on the Radar, and although the sound was working, nothing else did, Gohan sighed in defeat.
"It's broken, I can't find it without the screen working." Gohan said.
"Then I guess we'll have to find it on foot." Nail replied.
"No." A voice echoed. Nail and Gohan turned around, and saw Vegeta standing back up, dusting himself off. "I already know where they are, just help me out with them so we can get them healed up."
"Alright!" Gohan cheered, the boy then paused for a second rethinking Vegeta's statement. "Wait.. How are you gonna heal them?"
"I'm not healing them, there are machines on Frieza's ship, and Zarbon's smaller ship." Vegeta pointed out. "They have the capabilities of restoring one's injuries. We'll take them there, let them heal up, then in the meantime we can have their souls restored with the Dragon Balls."
"Then we must make haste, The Grand Elder won't last much longer, his lifeforce is already beginning to fade away. Without him the Dragon Balls are useless." Nail replied.
The three quickly picked up the other fighters, with Vegeta carrying Raditz by the back of his armor and Yamcha by the back of his shirt, Nail using his energy to lift Piccolo and Goku, and Gohan carrying Krillin over his shoulder.
They flew to where Frieza and Zarbon's ship laid, under the ground in between the ships was a faint familiar yet strange energy signature, one which they were too busy to notice. Vegeta led the other two to the Medical bay inside Zarbon's ship.
There were a total of four machines but most were broken leaving only one operable.
"This is an older model, so it won't work as well as the others inside Frieza's ship, but it should get the job done." Vegeta said. "Place the dwarf in here."
"Krillin.." Gohan muttered as he put Krillin in the medical chamber.
"What exactly does this machine do?" Nail asked curiously.
"It's a rejuvenation chamber, built to speed up the recovery process in our body." Vegeta explained. Bluish colored thick liquid filled the machine, and made Krillin float up. "Although all that is really needed is this liquid, the machine merely makes use of it far more efficiently."
"Won't he drown in that?" Gohan asked.
"No, that's why he has that attached to his face." Vegeta answered, pointing to the snorkel mask like attachment. "This is actually Frieza's old ship, he must've upgraded since I was last here. Let's hurry and get the rest on the other ship."
Gohan, Nail and Vegeta hurried over to the other ship, and followed Vegeta into the medical bay there. Frieza's ship, much like Zarbon's, or well Frieza's older one, had a very similar design, with minor differences.
Frieza's ship was larger, and a black ring of paint went around it. The medical bay had several, if not tens of tens of rejuvenation chambers, with a more futuristic design than before. The group placed each of the unconscious fighters in one healing bay each.
Unlike the older model, the liquid was green and not blue.
"Hey Vegeta, why is the liquid green instead of blue?" Gohan asked. "The one we placed Krillin in was colored blue."
"The chemical compounds used in the rejuvenation chambers were made from several leaves and flowers originating from Planet Vegeta. Naturally, they would be green, but going cheap means going blue." Vegeta explained. Gohan tilted his head in response giving a more confused look. "It means Zarbon went cheap, and Frieza as per usual went above and beyond."
"Oh…" Gohan said. "Wait...if it originated in Planet Vegeta then why would Frieza destroy it? Wouldn't it be more profitable to keep the planet they originate from?"
"In a simple sense it would, but after Frieza's father, Cold, brought it to the Planet Trade Organization, the research team had already found...more suitable planets." Vegeta answered. Vegeta paused for a second, rubbing his head and catching his breath.
"You should rest, or at least put yourself in one of those too." Nail said.
"Tch! I'm fine, I'm just a bit winded." Vegeta growled. "Let's hurry up and get their souls restored.. Then after I'm getting my immortality. Most of them should be healed in about an hour or so, Kakarotto might take awhile."
After Vegeta had gotten a new jumpsuit and some armor, as well as giving Gohan fresh armor, the group had gone to summon the Dragon.
About a moment before Ginyu was knocked unconscious by Vegeta and the others.…
"H-Hey...K-Kakarot." Raditz-Ginyu uttered weakly and quietly.
"Wh-What?" Goku-Yamcha asked.
"Before I..I fall unconscious..I..I've been doing some thinking.." Raditz-Ginyu paused. "And...I know I said we shouldn't fight F-Frieza...as m-much it pains me to ad-..admit it, I think y-you're right. M-Maybe it's just the l-light headedn-ness talking but...maybe we can beat F-Frieza."
Goku let a weak chuckle escape him. "Heh, that's the sp-spirit!"
Raditz growled. "Please d-don't make a b-big deal out of this."
Goku gave a thumbs up before falling asleep, and Raditz rolled his eyes as he too fell unconscious.
