A/N: There are no words to express how much I hate leaving both of my stories on hold for this long. It's been literally years since the last chapters. I apologize. I won't make a vow, but I'm hoping to complete this story and give it the best ending. Thank you to the loyal fans of this story. I hope this chapter makes it somewhat better for your wait. I will try to add as many chapters as I can from this point on. Not making any promises. I'll give it my best though. Again, I apologize to you all for hanging on this long.
XXXXX
The next morning Jane awoke with a deep inhale of fresh air. She rubbed the sleep from her eyes with ease as she stretched, flinching slightly from the bruises she had received from the night before. This was when she sat up in the makeshift bed and glanced around at the cabin she was in. How long had she been asleep? She remembered every gruesome detail of last night. That bastard's face and the look of his life draining from his eyes. Shaking her head quickly, she blinked twice. Jane didn't want to think about... him. So that left her to think on her killing partner. Where was Jason?
Carefully, she stood up, both feet flat on the ground. JJ was in a cabin, but the air around it told her it wasn't just any old cabin. There was more to the story. Besides, she was patched up now and it was time to explore. At least track Jason down and thank him for helping her during all that chaos. If he hadn't of assisted her, Jane knew she would be dead, or worse in the last place she refused to spend the rest of her days.
Tilting her head to the side, Jane took a few stable steps in the direction that would lead her into another part of this cabin. The wood was worn and shredded pieces of materials laid all across the ground. Carefully, the redhead found herself in front of a framed picture. There were candles placed all around it like it was sacred. She squinted at the dirty photograph, trying to decipher who it was. It was a woman. She was stunning. Something about her eyes that appeared familiar.
Jason...? Was this Jason's mother?
JJ tapped her finger to her chin as she studied that photo so more. It was quiet all around her, so she took it that Jason was away doing something for the time being. She wanted to reach out and touch it, but she restrained herself from doing so. There was no reason for her pry or disrespect the small candlelit circle. It meant something to Jason, and she didn't want to feel anymore guilty than she already did from all the trouble she had caused. Jane quickly walked away and stopped inspecting the sacred area.
This only made her miss her mother more. Perhaps this was something else she was finding in common with the serial killer. To think, not too long ago she wasn't a killer. Now look at how far she had come. She refused to be blamed for her family's death. But because she was so far gone, she would have to deal with it. Whoever wandered to this place next would have to die. It didn't matter what anyone else out there thought about her. JJ knew the truth and this, all of the blood and carnage, it was to survive. But they would keep coming. Unless she left. Even Jane couldn't handle as many of them as there were last night on her own. As odd as it sounded, she needed Jason. It would seem he was stuck with her until otherwise.
Jane wished it didn't have to be this way. But Jason was fantastic at killing, in fact, it was his specialty. As luck would have it, she was rising up in that rank too. She cared about the hockey-masked serial killer. He had such mystery looming over him. She wanted to get to know him. To communicate as they had been but on a level of possible friendship... if not more.
Finding her path to the other end of the cabin, Jane turned around when she heard the footsteps enter the cabin, she smiled to herself before she walked over to the killer. Her eyes held a certain sparkle in them whilst she held his eye contact for a moment. Looking away from Jason, Jane laced her fingers together in front of her. Where should she begin?
"Thank... thank you, Jason." JJ said cautiously, glancing back up at him.
Jason's gazed snapped right back to her while he listened to her voice of gratitude. She was so unusual. No one had thanked him for killing, except mother in her own way. It was mother's encouragement that he had always enjoyed. This time he tilted his head at the woman. What was this feeling? He slowly reached a hand out toward her, gently brushing the tip of her nose, then he retracted his hand and turned around to storm out of the cabin once more.
Staring after Jason's retreating form, JJ's eyes were wide open, her mouth a slight gap. He had made physical contact with her? He actually brushed the tip of her nose. She couldn't even begin to wonder what may be going on in that twisted mind of his. There she stood in shock. Jane understood. It made complete sense. Jason had probably only had such contact with his mother. Although, the woman couldn't help the flutter in her chest by the brief touch. Was it something more between them?
A part of Jane wanted to run after him, but she would respect his space. But walking outside on the steps wouldn't hurt anything. It was apparent that Jason brought her to this cabin, and if anything, JJ could feel it was special to him. She felt honored to be included in the small secret cabin.
Once she was outside, Jane traced the old wood with her fingers lightly, slowly lowering herself to the steps at the cabin door. Last night was so detailed when she awoke, but now it was blurred. All due to small physical contact. It wasn't even complete touch. Yet there was spark there that JJ could not fight off no matter how hard she tried to be reasonable. It still made her wonder if Jason was going to be headed back to deliver a full blown slash across her throat. How dare she make him uncomfortable. In all honesty, it was new to her as well.
Come to think of it, Jane had never really been with anyone before. It had been tempting with a few men, but it was only thoughts. Her mind was always playing tricks on her. Yet to find someone who was similar to her. A connection. Almost a bond that Jane was certain they had gotten with one another after everything since she found herself on the run at Camp Crystal Lake. Jane wanted to test the waters. Something about the feeling in her stomach and the flip her heart did in her chest. It felt... right.
It couldn't have been, right? JJ had only been her for so long and already she was crushing on Jason Voorhees? How could that be? It was already clear she cared about the serial killer. She wanted to be his friend. In a way, she had already felt she accomplished that step due to everything. Was it possible it could be more of a relationship?
Placing her face into her hands, Jane rubbed at her temples, keeping her eyes closed. Little did she know that she was in the presence of the the one she constantly had on her mind nowadays. Slowly opening her eyes and removing her hands from her face, Jane looked up to be staring at none other than Jason himself.
"Jason?" Jane inquired with a curious look in her eye.
The killer took a few more steps closer to Jane, seating himself next to her on the steps again. Jason still couldn't seem to look her straight in the eye again.
"Your cabin... it's nice. I saw the picture. Was that your mom?" The words broke through the silence.
When Jason nodded his head, he snapped his head to look right at Jane when her next set of words tumbled out.
"She's very pretty. You have her eyes."
There it was again. That flip in his chest. What did that even mean? It was causing him to go back into a rage. He loathed it with a passion. On instinct his hand shot out and he squeezed, forgetting himself for a moment as he applied more pressure with his hand around Jane's neck.
It was the emotion in her eyes that caused Jason to release her from his deadly grip. She dropped lower to the ground and tried to regain her breathing. In the meantime, Jason stood up and began to storm off, when Jane reached out and tugged on his pant leg. The small action resulted in Jason stopping to look down at her. She wanted him to stay? She was upset? Mother was right, she was a good girl. She praised their cabin and mother as well. Perhaps he should stay. For a little while. Until he could make sense of things. Whenever that would be.
"You've done so much. It's okay if you want me gone." Jane said with a mustered up smile.
However, just as their eyes met, Jason had an idea. Mother was speaking to him again. Encouraging him to do a something thoughtful. Before JJ could say or do anything he walked off with determination to accomplish a task on mother's command.
When Jason returned to Jane, she was still sitting in the same place. Her eyes brightening when he came closer to her. He had to prepare for more intruders, but mother said this would be good for both Jason and Jane. He dropped something on one of the steps in front of her, before gently patting Jane on the top of her head. Then he walked back inside the special cabin.
Jane looked down at the small amount of flowers that still had the roots attached on the step that Jason brought to her. Then she felt the pounding in her chest as he patted her on the head before walking back inside the cabin. There wasn't anything she could think of to say or do. But the smile that twitched a way to her lips spoke volumes.
A/N: This may not be the exact chapter you were hoping for, nor is it longer, but I'm just getting started. Hope you enjoyed it!
