Chapter 2: No Love

The room Trunks woke up in was dark ,but it was illuminated by the light that seeped from the cracks of the curtains on his windows. He sat up and stretched a few times before getting out of bed. After standing and stretching a few more times, he went into the bathroom to brush his teeth.

After he finished, he put on a black tank top, black pants, a blue belt and light brown boots. He grabbed his sword and carried it with him downstairs. When he reached the bottom of the stairs his nose caught a whiff of the breakfast his mother was cooking. On the table was rice, eggs, sausages, pancakes and a few more other dishes.

"Uhh, good Morning mother." Trunks greeted.

"Oh, good morning, how'd you sleep?" She asked while looking back at him with a warm smile.

"Just fine, and you?" He asked while propping his sword up against the wall next to him.

"Oh, I slept well." she replied as Trunks approached the counter top and started to change the radio station "Thought I'd cook some breakfast before you go out to look for them." she added while humming to a song that came on the radio.

"Need help?" Trunks asked while picking up spices.

"Nope. I'm almost done, you just have a seat at the table." She said while taking the spice from his hand.

"Oh, but isn't this too much food?" Trunks asked in a slightly worried tone. This question caused Bulma to freeze and turn to look at Trunks. Her eyes slowly widened as she put her hand on his forehead.

"Are- are you feeling okay? Did you really just say 'too much' and 'food' in the same sentence?" Bulma asked in a very questioning tone. Trunks felt his face turn red as he gently removed his mother's hand from his forehead.

"I'm fine mom, I just-... I just don't want you to over do it. You should take things a bit easier." he said with worry in his voice growing.

"Oh come on, I'm fine. I'm not that old, ya know. I can still stand, can't I?" She said triumphantly.

Trunks just sighed and smiled. He walked over to the table and pulled out one of the chairs and took a seat. After a few minutes of listening to his mother hum along to a song on the radio she sat a clean plate down in front of him while taking a seat adjacent to him. The two sat and ate and talked a bit more about Trunks' trip to the past. And she was eager to listen.

"So how did you feel when you held yourself as a baby?" Bulma asked. "I wish I could have had a picture of that." she swooned as Trunks just laughed nervously as he struggled to answer.

"Well...It was pretty surreal, seeing myself as a baby and all. But, it was oddly nice." Trunks said while blushing.

"Awww." she cooed as she hugged herself. As they continued their conversation, Bulma put on some more tea for them. She mentioned that she had managed to repair the Gravity Room that was built to replace the one Vegeta kept destroying in the spaceship that Goku used to travel to Namek on. The ship, however, is out of commission due to the damage that wasn't repaired. That's when the radio changed to an emergency broadcast, the two turned to listen as to what was happening.

"We interrupt your daily scheduled programming to bring you an emergency broadcast; The killer Androids are back and this time they're wreaking havoc in Parsley City. If you are a resident or in the surrounding area, we highly encourage you to evacuate to a safer location." A woman calmly stated with the radio static occasionally cutting into her speech.

Trunks' eyes widened as he turned to his mother whose face was just as shocked as his. The two stared at each other for a few seconds as the voice of the woman on the radio filled the silence. Without saying a word Trunks stood up and ran for his sword.

"That's not too far from here! I'll make it if I rush!" Trunks yelled as he darted towards the door.

"Hold on a second!" Bulma shouted as Trunks ran out the door strapping on his sword. She quickly followed behind him as they opened the door and stepped outside. Before Trunks took off he stopped and turned to his mother and gave her a big hug.

"Don't worry mom, I'll be fine." He said while releasing her and turning away as his Ki began to flare up and then became a golden has he transformed into a Super Saiyan. "I love you, I'll be back as soon as I can." He said as he began to hover off the ground.

"I love you too! Try not to get hurt!" She replied, shouting. "Please be careful…" she thought as she watched him disappear into the horizon.

[=X=][=X=]

"Alright drama queen, we get it, you can calm down now." 17 shouted while looking at 18 who was throwing a tantrum.

"Did you hear what he called me?!" 18 replied.

"Look, if you're gonna get mad and destroy this place over a guy because he insulted you, then you might want to try harder!" 17 tauntingly shouted over the explosions 18 was causing as he pointed at the guy who got out the car before she blew it up.

18 paused her attack and looked at 17 before turning her attention to the man as her scowl grew deeper before holding up her hand and launching a small Ki attack at him, killing the man instantly and causing another small explosion.

After the dust settled 17 folded his arms as he started to speak "Well, now this place is ruined… How about we go over to Satan City? I believe they have a huge shopping mall you might li-" 17 was saying, but was cut off by a gunshot and a small ping on the side of his head.

17 slowly turned his head in the direction of the gunshot and spotted an old man laying under an overturned car. He was half way outside of the car window and was aiming his revolver at him. 17 started to approach the man to which the man immediately started to unload his gun.

Bang! A shot rang out as a bullet struck 17 in the forehead and fell to the ground. "Good shot, old man." 17 praised

"S-s-stay back!" the old man shouted

Bang!

"You're quite the sharpshooter, even at your age, impressive." 17 said as 3 more bounced off his face.17 kneeled down to the old man. The old man tried to fire, but all the gun did was click as 17 reached to the side of his hip where he had a holster with his own gun. 17 upholstered his gun and placed it under the names chin.

"Unlike you, my aim is horrible, so I have to get up nice and close to my target." 17 said as he applied pressure the barrel of the gun under the man's chin. 17's eyes widened as his grin turned into a wicked smile. "So do me a favor… and sit still."

"Y-...y-you're a monst-"

Bang! A gunshot rang out as the man's head fell and hit the ground as blood leaked from his face.

"I hate being called that." 17 said to himself as he stood up and turned 18 who was waiting impatiently.

"Let's go cowboy. I can't stand this place any more. Their clothes don't suit me and the men here are horrible one-track- minded losers who can't handle rejection." 18 stated.

"I thought you liked the attention." 17 responded

"Not when it's from horny dogs who can't control their humping." 18 stated as the two started to hover off the ground, but landed due to them being stopped by some who they haven't seen in a long time.

"And what do you two think you're doing?" The newcomer asked.

"Oh great, another one here to play hero and who are you? Ugh, and thank god you're not the strong silent type like the last one." 18 said with a smirk as she looked the newcomer up and down.

17 eye's also widened at the sight of him. "Oh wait a second. It's the kid! Trunks, right?" 17 said. "I almost didn't recognize you. Lost that jacket and you got ripped, shame that you didn't ditch the sword though, it looks out a bit of place. Wait a second, did you get taller and older?" he questioned.

"Jesus Christ, marry him already." 18 jabbed

"Thanks, but I'll pass, I'm sure he's more your type." he returned the gesture.

"Ugh, please, he's more of a pain than the last one." 18 declined. "But hey, it doesn't matter how much you changed, you'll be dead if you get in our way. And I'm not too happy right now, so you'd best run along, while you still can..." she added through narrowed eyes.

"I wouldn't worry about you being happy, cause the only thing you'll be feeling is the cold embrace of death…" Trunks said with his eyes narrowing as his golden aura flared around him. "It's time you two paid for everything you've done. I'm going to enjoy disassembling you."

"Oooo, looks like someone's balls have dropped~" 18 mused "But all that confidence is gonna get you killed, kid!" 18 stated as she rushed Trunks. She threw a few punches at Trunks who simply dodged until she threw a kick and then 18's eyes widened as her attack fazed through him as he vanished behind her. Hearing him reappear, she spun around and attempted to kick him again only for him to catch her leg. She then struggled to get her leg out of his grip.

"Let me go, you insufferable prick!" 18 spat with hate and annoyance.

"Sure thing." Trunks obliged and let her leg but he quickly raced forward, punching her in the face and sending her sliding across the ground into a damaged building, causing the rest of the structure to topple on her.

18 crawled out of the rubble and sent a death glare at Trunks "I'm going to perform a lobotomy on your ass with that sword, brat." 18 spat as she rushed towards Trunks. She threw a punch that Trunks smacked away, Trunks then punched her again, but this one didn't have as much power as the last one.

18 held mouth as the taste of iron filled her mouth. 18 spit the blood out of her mouth and as soon as she looked up she was met by Trunks palm.

"End of the line! Now die!" Trunks shouted as he released a massive explosion of ki from his hand.

After the dust settled, 17 had a look of shock and disbelief as he had just watched 18 get engulfed and killed by the massive explosion of ki. 17 clenched his teeth in anger, flew towards Trunks and delivered a powerful kick to his back sending Trunks flying forward before he stopped himself. With them being androids, Trunks wasn't able to sense his energy therefore he wasn't able to counter the attack.

"Well, it seems someone's pretty eager to die." Trunks said as he looked back at 17 who was preparing to attack him again.

"You're gonna pay for that, brat!" 17 yelled as he fired a barrage of energy blasts at Trunks who either dodged or swatted them away. Trunks was tired of this barrage of energy so he rushed towards the android and smashed his fist into his jaw sending him flying into the sky, Trunks then unsheathed his sword and chased 17 up to finish his assault.

[=X=][=X=]

70 miles south just past the mountains near Parsley City was a small town named 'Pine Valley' due to there being an abundance of pine cone trees in the surrounding area. Inside of a small shop located just on the edge of said town were two people.

"You took one hell of a beating, luckily your armor held up enough and took most of the damage." A woman said with relief but then her voice turned stern as she continued to speak to the man in front of her. "Speaking of damage- are you stupid? Those monsters could have killed you and then what? Do you ever think before you do things, I told you to be careful and what do you do?" She chastised. "It was easier to count the amount of your bones that weren't broken, not to mention all of the bruises and internal bleeding. If you hadn't had that armor on, you would have probably died from blood loss or trauma." she finished.

"I'm fine aren't I?" The man nonchalantly replied

"Oh sure, you made a speedy recovery, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't be taking things easy, hell, you shouldn't even be walking right now with the condition you came back here in. You shouldn't have fought them." she retorted with concerned anger brewing in her voice.

"If I don't fight them, who will? The Golden Warrior that used to fight them is no longer around to help us. I won't just sit idly by and let the world be a playground to those monsters while knowing I have the power to do something." the man explained.

The woman sighed as she looked at him. "Look, I admire your tenacity to do good, but if you're not careful they'll kill you. The only reason you're alive is because they decided to spare you and I don't think they'll give you the same luxury if you try to fight them again."

The man looked towards the ground after hearing the woman's words "Don't remind me."

Just then a broadcast of the news suddenly came on, on the overhead T.V..

"We interrupt your daily scheduled programming to bring you an emergency broadcast; The killer Androids are back and this time they're wreaking havoc in Parsley City. If you are a resident or in the surrounding area, we highly encourage you to evacuate to a safer location." A woman calmly stated but she still sounded panicked.

The two looked at each other and stared for a few seconds as the woman on the T.V continued to talk about the unfolding events in the background.

"Look, I know I can't stop you from going, but if you're going to fight them, be careful and please don't get yourself killed." the woman pleaded.

"Don't worry, I don't plan on dying today." he stated. Before the woman could respond the man grabbed something off a nearby desk before quickly rushing out the door with the woman struggling to follow him out.

"Hey! Wait!" The woman shouted, but she wasn't fast enough as the man was already out of ear shot. "You don't have your armor! Ugh, idiot!" She frustratingly said as she went back inside.

[=X=][=X=]

"Damn… that hurt… since when in the hell did he get so strong?" 18 thought to herself as he found herself getting out of the crater she created while looking at the sky. Her brother was more or less evading being cut down by Trunks' sword. At the last possible second 18 used all of her power to shield herself from Trunks attack and luckily for her, he didn't check for a pulse.

18 blazed up towards the fight and crashed into Trunks' side, sending him flying back once again. "I've had enough of this shit." 18 said to 17 whose face was twisted with shock and confusion.

"18?!" 17 suddenly shouted. "I thought he-... I thought you were dead."

"Please, that blast was strong, but not nearly enough to put me down. Now then are we going to keep talking, because I want to give his family a funeral to attend." 18 said

17 grinned "And let's make it a closed casket!". They then looked at each other and didn't say anything, but the look they gave each other made it look as if they knew exactly what the other was thinking. They powered up to their utmost limit, sparks of energy danced around their bodies as they fell into an offensive stance. Their eyes had a faint shimmer of red as they rushed towards Trunks. This was their 2nd time using the full extent of their power as there was no real need to do so after they had defeated the Z-Warriors.

Trunks had stopped himself from flying further, the kick that was delivered to him caught him off guard and it hurt, a lot more than he expected. He turned around to be met by 17&18 who began a barrage of kicks and punches, to which he either blocked or dodged. Trunks was unable to sense how much stronger they had become so he was all the more shocked when he was the one now being put on defense as they began to battle again. The sounds of their battle thundered across the sky as onlookers watched in shock and awe as they witnessed the shock waves and energy blasts that streaked across the sky.

They then began to land blows on Trunks that actually stung. "What the hell is this?" he thought to himself. As they continued to fight, Trunks came to a horrifying realization. "How did she survive that? Wait... they've become stronger!" Trunks thought as he had just been punched hard in the gut by 17 and then kicked in the face by 18 "Were-...were they holding back this entire time?!"

In frustration Trunks let out an enormous yell as his energy flared up and pushed the androids back. He continued to power up with the wind swirling around him intertwining within his golden aura. His muscles began to expand slightly and his hair stood more firmly as he turned into a slight brighter shade of gold. When he was done, 17 & 18 were in shock at his appearance and even though they couldn't sense Ki they could feel the pressure from it.

"This… this isn't possible, how the hell did you get this strong?!" 17 yelled.

Trunks' frowned at the two as he spoke "I don't know how to manage to survive, but this time, you won't." Trunks said as he looked over at 18 "And If you don't die within the next minute, I'll explain it to you" he said as he pointed his sword at them "So you best try your best to survive...cause I'm going for the kill." He said with his scowl growing into the biggest, cockiest smirk he could muster, if his father saw it he would be proud.

"I'm going to wipe that grin off your face, brat!" 18 yelled

"Let's end this." 17 said as they charged at Trunks again.

"That's it. Struggle all you like, it'll just make your death all the more enjoyable." Trunks thought as he charged at them. Their battle was intense but this time, Trunks was the one on offense once again.

As they fought, Trunks' Saiyan side raved at how much stronger he was compared to the androids, he knew he should end this fight right away, but he couldn't help making them suffer a bit as he landed blow after blow on them, but it seemed their fight had come to a brief halt.

Android 18 and 17 were covered in cuts and bruises, their clothes were in tatters, but despite their current condition, they still had the determined anger smeared across their faces. Trunks wasn't in any better shape, the earlier attacks before he powered up were painful to say the least.

"This makes no sense. You were gone for 3 months and you've gotten this strong! How?!" 18 seethed.

"Let's just say I took a trip down memory lane." Trunks answered vaguely.

"Stop messing around, brat!" 18 yelled

Trunks sighed, "Even if I told you, you wouldn't believe me." Trunks clarified.

"Try me." 18 seethed.

Trunks shrugged his shoulders as he reluctantly explained "Fine… I went to the past. Not figuratively, I mean it literally. I trained with the people you killed, but in the past. That's how I was able to get this strong."

"So time travel? That's ridiculous!" 18 spat.

"Told you." Trunks said as he shrugged again.

"Ok, but let's say we believe you, wouldn't shit be different now? And that still doesn't explain your power. Even if you trained for 3 months, you shouldn't be this strong. Stronger? Sure. Stronger than us? No." 17 Asked in a frustrated tone.

"Yeah, I questioned that too. Turns out I went to the past, but in a different universe rather than going to the actual past. Multiverse theory turned out to be true." Trunks answered "And for my power, there was this place in the past that allowed me to train for an entire year while it only lasted 1 day in real time. Me being gone for 3 months is pure time dilation as I was really gone for a week, but I actually left a month ago. I just haven't fought you for the past 2 prior to me leaving..." Trunks explained further.

"So a different reality and magical rooms? This some kind of a joke? Cause it's a shitty one." 17 said in frustrated disbelief.

"Yeah? Well, you know what's also gonna sound like a joke? There were two versions of you that actually turned out pretty good. It's a shame really, to know what you could have been if you didn't take such a disgusting path." Trunks said as he eyed the androids up and down.

"Sounds swell, but this 'path' we chose was actually our choice and wasn't forced upon us. Sorry it wasn't as righteous as yours, Boy Scout." 17 replied.

"Well, now I have a question for you…" Trunks said as he took on a serious tone. "When you fought me before… Just how much were you holding back?"

17 & 18 both had a confused look as they glanced at each other, but it was 18 who answered. "I guess since you're going to die soon, I'll tell you… I was holding back about 80%".

"And when I fought the one armed warrior, I held back about 50%" 17 followed up with a frustrated smirk.

Trunks' eye twitched as he clenched his teeth together in anger after confirming his theory. They had been toying with them, treating them like toys and it pissed him off. Just as Trunks was about to respond something caught his attention. As he turned his head to see the masked stranger that his mother had told him about.

"And would ya look who it is." 18 spat with annoyance.

"Didn't expect Captain Silence to recover from that beating we gave him so quickly, tougher than he looks I guess." 17 said.

"So this is the guy…" Trunks thought. "So, you're the stranger I've heard about. Someone told me you fought these two while I was away, what's your name?" Trunks asked politely. The man paused as he stared at Trunks.

"You're the Golden Warrior?" The man questioned with what sounded like a hint of confusion along with the distortion of his voice. "He doesn't look a day older than me. That doesn't seem right. He should be older so he can't be him, but then again, that aura...it's too intense and powerful not to be him." he thought to himself as he looked at Trunks.

"'Golden Warrior?'" Trunks asked as he raised an eyebrow.

"Sorry, where are my manners?" He asked rhetorically. "My name is Monty and you are?"

"I'm Trunks and It's nice to meet you. It's shocking to know there are people that can fight against these two." Trunks answered.

Monty nodded "Likewise. And it's only natural that someone might want to stand up to these two, even if it was a losing battle. Luckily, you're here. Glad to have you back, Trunks"

"Ha! Calling it a 'battle' is a bit of an overstatement. Try 'beating'." 18 taunted which made Monty turn towards her. "Ooo, did I strike a nerve?" she added.

"I'm not sure if you'd want to, but If you're willing, I'm sure you'd love to put them down just as much as I would." Trunks suggested

"There's nothing I'd like more than putting Bonnie and Clyde to rest." Monty stated. He then started to gather Ki as his white, spiky Ki took on a purple hue. "Let's do this."

"Woah, he's a lot stronger than I thought, maybe this could actually work" Trunk thought as he felt Monty's Ki shoot up.

"EW!" 18 shouted "'Bonnie and Clyde'?" 18 questioned with disgust. "Although I get it, that's disgusting."

"It's gross." 17 agreed.

"I-...what?" Monty questioned

"We're not a couple, dumbass. We're twins! We'd be more like Apollo and Artemis." 17 explained with a hint of disdain.

"What?!" Monty replied with surprise.

"Oh! Right. You wouldn't have known this, but they're siblings. Seems a bit trivial now though." Trunks explained.

"Well, my world view has been shifted a bit… and now I owe someone 200 zeni." Monty replied.

"Don't kill yourself over it." 18 added. "On second thought, you should totally do that, it'll save us time on doing it ourselves."

[=X=][=X=]

"What an interesting turn of events. But it seems I'll need a new plan, if I challenge them now I'll be severely outmatched. Especially by… him." A shadowy figure thought to themselves. But then, as if turning on a light switch, they got an idea; they then chuckled as they walked backwards in the shadows of the alley.
