In Neverwinter's local jail, a grey skinned creature broke into the place and was slashing down guards with his greataxe. This thing is a Goliath, a 8 foot tall creature with skin as grey and tough as stone. Aside from leather shorts and a lance strapped to his back he wore nothing, showing off his powerful, lumpy, scarred body.
Name: Cinderblock in Common upon exile. Race: Goliath. Class: Fighter. Archetype: Champion. Abilities: Strength 15 Constitution 14 Dexterity 13 Wisdom 12 Intelligence 10 Charisma 8. Proficiencies: Athletics, Perception and Survival. Flaw: Dumb as a brick and always resorts to violence first.
Upon entering a large room, a voice called out.
"Hey, you stony chunk of Goliath, normally people want to break out of jail."
"Now you're going to find why you'll wind up behind the bars." Robin jumped down, short sword at the ready. Starfire floated in on his right, brandishing her greatsword and shield on her back. Jumping down as a Giant Wolf Spider to the her right, that was when Beast Boy returned to normal. To Robin's left Raven and Cyborg came from the shadows, the Warforged wielding a war-hammer.
"Will you surrender, Goliath subject known as Cinderblock, or are we going to have to subdue you the hard way?" Cyborg inquired. Cinderblock roared as he charged. "I was hoping he'd indicate the latter." The the group charged with respective yells. Robin was the first to jump over an axe swing and kick Cinderblock in the face, sending him back. Starfire came behind and blasted the rock creature with a radiant starbolt. Cyborg attempted to hit Cinderblock with its war-hammer, but the goliath was able to counter the blow with his axe, actually managing to cleave straight through the hammer. The Warforged was given little time to react before it was punched away, knocking into Robin though thankfully the rogue monk rolled away before being crushed by the 1600 lbs. robot. Starfire swooped in, attempting to try and hack into the Goliath with her greatsword, but Cinderblock was able to meet her slash, the two weapons sparking as both were forced out of each other's hands. Thinking quick, he grabbed hold of the female Aasimar drew her in close for a head-butt, but she met it head-on with her own. He was shocked as she smirked.
"Apologies Goliath, but I am stronger than I look." With a mighty kick, Starfire freed herself as the Goliath recoiled back into a wall. Beast Boy attempted to attack Cinderblock as a boar, but he was simply punched away.
"Eldtritch-" Raven was knocked back as she was hit by the green boar and both smacked into a wall, the animal reverting back into the Druid Shifter. Both groaned from the pain.
"Ugh, sorry Rave." He apologized.
"Don't call me that." She retorted as she pushed him off, blowing hair out of her face. Cinderblock chuckled as he tried to attack them, but was caught off guard as Robin jumped onto his back and slashed against the nape of his neck, sparks flying as a shallow cut was seen. Growling from both annoyance and pain, the Goliath removed the lance from his back and tried to swat at the human clinging onto him, but the rogue monk hopped away as Cinderblock let the weapon hit him in the head, unaffected. Cyborg took his broken war-hammer and used an artificer cantrip to mend the weapon back together, good as new. The Warforged and Goliath went at each other, blocking with two strikes at once or swatting an incoming attack away, though Cinderblock appeared to be the stronger fighter as he kept pushing Cyborg back. During one of the clashes, the creature slipped his lance in through Cyborg's defense and struck a joint, causing the Warforged to let go of the war-hammer, which Cinderblock stole and swung around so that he Cyborg was sent tumbling back, skidding across the ground with clangs and bangs. Upon stopping, the living automaton said,
"Status: 68%."
"Firebolt!" Using a sorcerer cantrip to launch a ball of flame, while using her Aasimar trait to add on a radiant effect, Starfire rendered his lance useless while also pushing him back with said divined fire. The flying sorceress laughed as Cinderblock tried to retreat. Aiming his arm, Cyborg attempted to use his thunderwave attack, which was aimed at the fleeing villain, but a very ill-timed jump by Robin trying to prevent his escape caused the leader to be hit instead, being blown into a wall instead with a painful yell.
"Robin!" Starfire shrieked with worry as she went to him, her hands glowing green as she tried to heal his wounds. Using his strength, Cinderblock proceeded to smash through the walls, letting convicts to walk out out of their cells. But Beast Boy kept them back by turning into a giant wolf spider and spraying the way out for them with web, blocking the way out for them much to their protest.
Smashing into a certain chamber, there was nothing but a human guy in a sort of magical permanent sleep. Wrapping the bedding around him, the Goliath literally punched his way out of the jail with the human over his shoulder.
The rest of the prisoners were forced into their cells in threat of Raven's Burning Hands spell that would burn them if they didn't back off. Forcing some of the floor to act as makeshift bars with her telekinesis, the jail break was under control as she went to her teammates.
"Everyone is back where they belong. Except one." The Tiefling said.
"There wouldn't be a missing prisoner if Cyborg didn't blast me." Robin complained, though the Warforged didn't take that lying down.
"It was a simple miscalculation of an unexpected variable. I am not the one at fault."
"If you're so calculating, then how could you not see me coming in?"
"You're a rogue, right? And a monk at that? Your class kind are hard to perceive until they're right in front of line of sight, correct?"
"Come on guys, it was just some bad luck. No one is of fault here." Starfire got in between the two as she put a hand on both their chests.
"Besides, this kind of arguing is unproductive only idiots humor." Raven rudely commented. Beast boy chuckled.
"Ooooh, burn!" Snorting in response, he and Cyborg began to walk away as they mumbled to themselves, which they've also unfortunately heard,
"Just calm down Robin. He's just being a hunk of junk."
"Assesment: Robin's a dramatic meatbag of a leader."
"What did you say?!" Both of them yelled.
"Do you have a problem with your leader?!"
"In fact, I do. It's a small meatbag that'd rather eat his armor than admit when he's overreacting to an accident."
"As leader, I expect perfection, and you're way too clumsy to reach that!"
"Perfection is a fool's goal. No one and nothing is perfect, nor will anything ever reach it. And besides, why should your high standards allow you to be a bossy, rude and tasteless human?"
"How would you know about leadership?! All you know are hitting and blasting stuff! We don't need you since both of those bases are covered!"
"Fine, if that's what you think of me, then I no longer wish to be among allies who follow an overbearing meatbag." With that, the Warforged walked off, picking up it hammer as it left. Robin closed his eyes and lowered his head, guilt and remorse already weighing his heart, his pride having lost something valuable.
Far away, in an abandoned Dwarf weapon factory, Cinderblock walked up to a man cast in darkness, his body obscured as the Goliath set the human down in his bedding.
"Cinderblock, I see your mission was a success. Good. We'll proceed with phase two." Waving a glowing red hand, the man said, "Dispel." With the sleeping spell broken, the man then started to wake.
"Wha? I'm... awake?!" The man questioned, growing fearful. "I should never be awake! I don't want to hurt anyone!"
"But for what I have in mind, your human form is useless to me. I need Plasmus." As the human started to melt due to his extremely rare disease, he turned into a purple plasmoid, growing to be even taller than Cinderblock.
Name: Plasmus. Race: Plasmoid. Class: None deliberately chosen, but acts like a berserker barbarian. Abilities: Constitution 15 Strength 14 Wisdom 14 Dexterity 10 Intelligence 10 Charisma 8. Proficiencies: Athletics and Perception. Flaw: One track mind of consuming toxic material.
By tomorrow, Beast Boy was the most depressed of Cyborg's leaving, the group in a one story house all five built together, living on the island off of Neverwinter. A bird came in through the window and it landed on Beast Boy's outstretched arm.
"Did you find him?" Upon hearing the screech of the bird, he sighed. "So he's already past Helm's Hold? For a slow robot he sure can walk the distance since he can't get tired. I miss him already."
"Beast Boy, perhaps you would like a taste?" Starfire offered the Shifter a spoon of what appears to be porridge. Shrugging, he took a bite, and his eyes opened wide. Falling onto his back from his chair, the Aasimar gasped.
"Oh no! Beast Boy, are you okay?!"
"What did you feed him?" Raven asked, having seen what happened.
"I just gave him a recipe I know of from where I come from! I did not put any poison or dis-pleasurable ingredients into it!"
"Was it a Celestial recipe?"
"Yes."
"It probably just tasted so good then it blew his mind. He can't comprehend how good it tastes."
"Oh. I never heard of someone fainting because something was too good."
"Too much of anything will do that to anyone. I'd imagine if I ate your food I'll die due to being a Tiefling, even if we're not vulnerable to such a thing." Robin listened to this as he thought intensively about something. That is until Starfire went up to him. "Robin, what do you think about-"
"Please, leave me alone. I need to think." The rogue monk walked off, leaving the Aasimar sad. In his room, Robin practiced with a dummy, training up his monk skills to be more dexterous. Later on he tried playing with Raven with dragon chess to get his mind off of it, but the Tiefling kinged him.
"Checkmate, now you're going to tell me what you're thinking."
"What?" He was taken aback by what she said.
"Tell me what you're thinking. We're evenly matched usually, but I beat you five times straight in under 20 minutes." The rogue monk sighed.
"I'm just wondering if getting rid of Cyborg was a bed idea."
"Doing so out of pettiness certainly wasn't a very leader like thing to do."
"Should we get him back?" Before she could answer, another bird flew to Beast Boy, whom had by this point recovered from his blessed coma, and told the others,
"It says a purple ooze like creature is attacking the dumps!"
"Plasmus." Robin heard that the person Cinderblock kidnapped was him. "Let's go."
A tall purple colored Plasmoid was going through bins filled with bio-hazardous material, drinking god knows what straight from them as the brown sludge went down its gullet. When a starbolt exploded one of the bins, the Plasmoid looked through the hole in the bin to see a group of teenagers.
"Well that can't be good for you. That stuff reeks." Beast Boy gagged as he pinched his nose closed. Plasmus screeched as it fired strands of its own being at the humanoids, whom dodged the attacks. As Robin rolled between each attack, he ordered,
"Starfire, now!"
"Fire Bolt!" Launching a flaming ball of fire at Plasmus, the attack exploded against its stomach area, leaving a hole in its center which filled out. It then stretched an arm to try and punch her, but the Aasimar used her shield to block the splattering attack, but it did push her into a nearby cliff with enough force to crack it. Getting in close, Robin used one of his only cantrips to use Shocking Grasp, sending electrical energy into the creature but if there was any damage being dealt, it didn't show it as it looked back and kicked the rogue away in a rage. Starfire proceeded to blast Plasmus with her starbolts while Beast Boy got in close, hitting the Plasmoid with his Shillelagh enhanced quarterstaff, allowing him to hit the amorphous creature with magical damage. Being overpowered, Plasmus let his body flood out, overcoming Beast Boy while Starfire kept the offense at bay with her greatsword, keeping the ooze at bay. Raven floated up and yelled,
"Eldritch Blast!" Firing a black beam of energy from her palm, she forced Plasmus to be pushed back with extreme power, removing its mass off of the purple goo covered Beast Boy.
"Ewwwww!" He complained, trying to shake the gunk off. "It tastes so gross!"
"Raven, see if you can solidify it with heat!" Robin ordered.
"Fine. Burning Hands!" Thrusting her arms out, she bathed the Plasmoid with demonic fire, causing the outer layer of its ooze to harden. Plasmus screeched as it became surrounded by its own rock hard layer of itself, glowing red.
"Ha, nice work Rave!" Beast Boy complimented.
"Don't call me that." She warned with a glare. However, the hardened layer covering Plasmus began to crack as there was struggle underneath, it the shell eventually exploded so that from within five animal like creatures from the mutated sludge went on the attack. They split up so that they only had to handle one miniature monster each. Starfire tried blasting an ooze snake but it slithered around the ranged attacks and lunged, about to wrap around her if it weren't for her slicing it to pieces with her sword. As Beast Boy fought against a beetle the size of his now giant wolf spider form, Raven flew away as she telekinetically pushed a landfill onto a purple octopus chasing her. She smiled as she but the Tiefling was not expecting to see it crawl to where she was heading.
"Fuck! She yelled as she surrounded herself with protective energy. Robin ran as a scabbard followed suite. Getting tired of running, he took out a stick which he enchanted to extend into its full quarterstaff length, and bashed it into the ooze creature. While pieces of it splattered off, it was able to bite into the staff and break it off. Robin smirked as he just made his weapon to lengthen again. Although he didn't expect the creature to leap onto him, a hundred pounds of sludge trying to smother the human. Attempting to escape, he hurt the creature with another Shocking Grasp, which did make it pull back, but it was able to resist and try to suffocate the human. Just when it seemed all over, a blast of sonic energy blasted the creature to pieces too small to reform. Groaning as he got up, Robin was shocked to see Cyborg.
"Typical human, not able to fight a sentient puddle without me." It commented with a hint of sarcasm.
"Cyborg? I thought you'd have reached the Sword Mountains by now."
"I did consider the option, but one annoying meatbag shouldn't let me desert my other friends in this group."
"Cyborg, I'm sorry. It was my fault I jumped into the way of your thunderwave. Can you forgive me?"
"The fact I came back to save your overconfident behind should be evidence enough I have. But if I need to say it, yes. I forgive you. Your apology is also appreciated." While Cyborg's face couldn't emote and its vocal expression is only known by volume, Robin would've guessed he was smiling, and he deserved the overconfident remark. Back to the others, the three teenagers were back to back in a triangle formation as the creatures surrounded them. Sure, they've lost some mass, but a cackling head was enjoying that it was winning. That was until a robotic voice told the others,
"Duck down!" Turning towards Cyborg, he threw his war-hammer which Robin was riding on via the head. Pouring his Shocking Grasp Cantrip into the metal weapon, he jumped off and let the electrified hammer soar right into Plasmus's head, smashing into the controlling force and slammed into the ground. The sludge pool out of the way to show an unconscious man under the hammer.
"Target neutralized." Cyborg said.
"Of friends, you have made up! Glorious!" Starfire cheered as she hugged the rogue and Warforged together.
"Yeah, I'm actually excited he came back but I seriously need to take a shower man!" Beast Boy complained. "Having enhanced smell is really killing me with that thing's gunk all over me!"
"Let's go home then." Letting Raven carry the defeated Plasmus, they soon spotted Cinderblock has been apprehended, incapacitated and covered in many layers of retraining metal.
"I brought him as a gift in case you needed convincing."
"Thanks, but there is one thing that's bothering me. This whole thing is too smart for Cinderblock to have conceived on his own."
"I've came to the same conclusion." Cyborg agreed. "However, whoever is calling the shots, we'll be able to defeat whatever they have planned." Unknown to them, a glass orb allowed the man earlier to watch the teenagers unnoticed. Shattering the orb with his fist, the man let a servant of his replace the fragments with a new orb.
"So they think they can take what I can give? Challenge accepted.
A/N: I hope I made this good. Trying to think of Plasmus and his abilities, along with trying to find a canonical prison was difficult. But a new helpful source on AO3 I found helped me with Plasmus and I just decided to use a generic prison. I bet the differences helped add some new flavor. Trying to not make it totally alike to the original. Please review this if you would like to.
