"Aw, here we are!" They've reached their destination. The Pokemon World Tournament. The area looked like a convention, but the biggest building was a giant stadium. "What ya think?! Purdy great building, huh? Here's where the Pokemon World Tournament takes place. Follow me tads." Clay led them into the building. "This time, I'm gonna have you two participate in the Driftveil Tournament. As great ya two may be, neither of you can compete in the internationals. Eight people are competing, and you'll be the winner if ya can beat three people."

"Clay, why did you call me here?" A familiar voice called. They looked to see it was the normal type gym leader Cheren! "I'm busy looking into something."

"Cheren, the one who's gotta show everyone what Pokemon battlin' means - is you. And your pal ain't here either! I'm countin' on the power of youth, 'cause everyone likes up-and-comin' stars! Ok, when yer ready just sign up!" Cheren sighed.

"You never change Clay."

"Darn right!"

"Well, at least the tournament looks fun. Fine, I'll go register."

"I'm signing up too!" Hugh replied, getting Cheren's attention.

"Oh, it's you three. You came here to participate?"

"Not initially. Clay led us here." Nate replied.

"I don't think it would be fair if I competed." Iris nervously chuckled.

"Well then, I'll see you two in the arena." Cheren pushed his glasses up and walked off. Hugh chuckled.

"I can't wait to battle in a tournament like this. Just plain and simple fun!" Nate couldn't help but also laugh with his best friend who finally seemed to be good and relaxed for once.

"Yeah, let's do it!" Iris giggled from the boys that are going to have a great experience.

"The Driftveil Tournament is about to begin! Here are our eight matchups for today!" Something Nate, Hugh and Iris in the stands noticed that the familiar face of Colress Jones was in the eight contestents. "For our first match, we have two boys from the same City in the Southwest! Nate Wayland and Hugh Brooks!" Once the two boys walked onto the field, they exchanged friendly, if challenging banter.

"So this is it. Our first actual battle since the beginning. I'll give this my best!" Nate gave a thumbs up with a confident grin.

"As will I of course. Anything less would be shameful." Hugh chuckled as he held out a pokeball.

"This match will be a three on three with no substitutions! Beat your opponent in 10 minutes, and should that fail, the one with the least amount of Pokemon, or performs better wins! Let the battle begin!"

"Pyro, go get them!" Hugh sent out his fire starter, roaring as he appeared on the field.

"Arcanine, let's go!" Nate sent out his own fire type, the Legendary Pokemon. Both are wearing life orbs. "Use Bulldoze!"

"Scald!" Both Pokemon, with the help of their life orbs, delivered both devastating attacks that each have hit their targets, both critical blows as they both fell.

"Arcanine and Pyro are unable to battle already! What power to bring both of each other down so soon!" Although the audience didn't think it was so cool. It was over too quick. Once both trainers returned their Pokemon, both sent out their next Pokemon.

"Krookodile, go get them!"

"Scrafty, let's go!" Scrafty, while being a dark type itself, was intimidated by the Pokemon clearly known as the Intimidation Pokemon as he snarled at him.

"Use Dig!" Digging underground, Nate had to think fast.

"Jump into the air!" Jumping into the air, he tried to escape, but he got clamped in the leg by the enemy. He tried to get out by bashing his rocky helmet into the life orb wearing Pokemon. "Now get him away with Brick Break!" With a white glowing arm, he slammed his hand into the top of Krookodile's head, sending the ground/dark type crashing into the ground. The Intimidation Pokemon growled from the pain, not appreciating the attack.

"Brick Break!" Both trainers commanded. The two dark types with their arms struck at the same time, the clash creating a shock wave. Unfortunately, Scrafty was losing the battle, but said Hoodlum Pokemon would refuse to lose without one last resort as he bashed his head against Krookodile's snout. With that and the life orb, both Pokemon were again defeated at the same time. Both Pokemon were returned once again, and then sent out their final Pokemon.

"Azumarill, go get them!"

"Magneton, let's go!"

"Azumarill, use Superpower!"

"Counter with Thunderbolt!" While Azumarill glowed especially white with the combination of Huge Power and her life orb, along with Superpower making her glow as well, the Aqua Rabbit Pokemon was like a white sun as she charged forward. However, Magneton was able to generate the necessary energy quick enough to zap the water type, causing her to scream and fall to the ground. She had fainted.

"Azumarill is unable to battle! The winner is Magneton, and thus the victor of this match is Nate Wayland!" Everyone cheered as Nate thanks his Pokemon and Hugh returned his Azumarill.

"Well, that was fast." Hugh sighed. "Thanks Azumarill. Return." Looking up at Nate, he scoffed. "Here to gloat?"

"No. I wanted to say good game." The teen offered a hand, which Hugh begrudgingly accepted before becoming playful as he grabbed Nate in a headlock and gave him a noogie.

"You'd better win this for me, will ya?"

"Yeah." Their hands still connected, they shook on it.

Thankfully Nate was allowed to give his two Pokemon Max Revives, and was able to retrieve his Pokemon from the Center. Confident with his set of three, Nate stepped out again.

"Nate, do your best!" Iris called out.

"And in this corner, the young Pokemon trainer battling for his ideals, Cheren Griffith!"

"So we meet again Nate. I heard from Clay you collected his badge. Well done."

"Thanks Cheren." Nate smiled.

"I'm thrilled as I can be to battle you again here, the first challenger of my gym."

"I would like to see what you're like with powerful Pokemon. Let's go!" Nate challenged with excited vigor.

"This match will be a three on three with no substitutions! Beat your opponent in 10 minutes, and should that fail, the one with the least amount of Pokemon, or performs better wins! Let the battle begin!"

"Watchog, let's go!"

"Scrafty, let's go!" The two Pokemon wore a life orb and rocky helmet respectively.

"Watchog, Hyper Fang!"

"Counter with Brick Break!" While Watchog lunged forward with glowing white teeth, Scrafty let his arm glow white as well and delivered a painful chop to the top of the Lookout Pokemon's head, smashing him down. Even though he wasn't a physical powerhouse, it was still enough for the Hoodlum Pokemon to have beaten the normal type in one shot. However, he did growl as his moxie ability went up.

"Watchog, return. Sorry that you were beaten before even landing a move. Rest now. Nate, I can tell your Pokemon is strong, but it won't survive this next one. Unfezant, let's go!" A female Unfezant appeared, wearing a scope lens.

"Use Rock Slide!" Nate commanded. Scrafty tried to rain down stones from ripples in the sky, but Cheren smirked. Dodge and use Air Cutter!" Weaving around the rocks as they fell with such swiftness the fighting/dark type was having difficulty keeping up, the Proud Pokemon's wings glowed with energy as she flapped them to create energy buzz saws. Scrafty cried out from being hit by the attack, certainly being dealt with critical damage as he fell onto his back, defeated.

"Scrafty, return. You did good. Take a good rest. Hydro, let's go!" Cheren grinned seeing that the Oshawott he fought a while ago evolved to its final state, wearing a life orb. But this was a battle he intended to win. "Air Slash!" Unfezant's attack appeared to be similar, but the energy projectiles were now blades than saws as they exploded upon contact against the water starter, but that only served to make the Dicipline Pokemon stronger thanks to his torrent ability.

"Samuroooooooott!"

"Your Samurott is quite fearsome, but he's not going to be able to keep up."

"Oh really?" Nate questioned with a smug grin. Cheren lost his frown as he ordered, "Air Slash!, and if they try to attack, dodge it!"

"Hydro Pump!" Unleashing a powerful torrent of water, he tried dowsing the bird with water, but she was too quick. Just as her wings began to glow, Nate ordered, "Now use your swords to redirect!" Unsheathing his scallop swords, he used them to push his Hydro Pump in another direction that Unfezant, nor Cheren for that matter, wasn't expecting, and the Proud Pokemon was blasted by the triple boosted Hydro Pump, smashing her into the ceiling. When the attack ended, she fell onto the ground outside the arena, out cold.

"Unfezant, return!" Cheren cried out. "Rest now. That must've not felt good. With a sigh, he shrugged, which confused Nate. "I can't win this. By the time Stoutland is ready to attack he'll be beaten by your starter, even if the life orb does him in. I surrender.

"Cheren Griffith has surrendered! The victor of this match is Nate Wayland!" While Cheren's fans were disappointed and some have even booed at him, Cheren ignored his fans as he walked to Nate, whom was congratulating Hydro.

"You did fantastic Nate. You've truly grown much stronger."

"Had to be in order to have won my fifth badge." The younger teen chuckled. Cheren smirked and nodded while adjusting his glasses.

"Indeed. I look forward to seeing you in the Pokemon League Tournament. See ya." Turning around, the gym leader left. As Nate returned his starter and headed back to the waiting rooms, he considered about Colress.

("From what I've seen, it appears he specializes in scientist specialty based Pokemon. I think I know what Pokemon to chose.") And with that the brunette chuckled to himself.

"It comes down to this match! Nate Wayland enters!" Nate walked onto the arena once again "And here comes his opponent for the final round! Colress Jones!" The blonde scientist strolled to the field and greeted his competitor.

"We meet again. When I learned you were participating I signed up as well, hoping to face you."

"I remember. How's your research going about Pokemon potential?"

"It remains inconclusive but you have been playing your part well. While you showed your Pokemon friendship, I have been training mine with none, so that I can see which one of us has the better Pokemon." That didn't sit well with Nate.

"Pokemon aren't just experiments. But if a battle will really show you, then let's get this started."

"Very well." Colress chuckled. "But just so you know, I do hope the friendship one is the correct way, as it has always been. Show me the answer!"

"This match will be a three on three with no substitutions! Beat your opponent in 10 minutes, and should that fail, the one with the least amount of Pokemon, or performs better wins! Let the battle begin!"

"Magnezone, go!" The evolved form of Magneton has been summoned, but Nate was prepared for this.

"Flygon, let's go!" Once his Mystic Pokemon was out, Colress went first.

"Use Flash Cannon!" Forming a sphere of grey energy, it fired a silver beam which most likely would've KO'ed the ground/dragon type, but her was too fast.

"Dodge!" Indeed, with a flap of her wings, she evaded the attack. "Now use Bulldoze!" With incredible speed, she went and rammed into the floating electric/steel type, directly delivering massive damage thanks to its 4X weakness to ground types, and it crashed to the ground thanks to her offense, down in one shot as it groaned. Flygon gave a victorious cry as she flew back. However, this loss didn't make Colress lose his smile as he returned his Pokemon.

"Impressive. You're certainly able to exploit type advantages and predict what I would use. But I'm not just some scientist. But Magnezone was just a lure. Beheeyem, go!" A brown colored alien like creature with a bulbous head and three fingers on each end of its arms in the colors of red, yellow and green now floated on the field.

"Dragon Claw!" With the same impressive speed, her right arm glowed with a green aura and struck against the small psychic being, causing it to make noises of discomfort.

"Trick Room." Colress simply responded. With its blinking colorful fingers, it created a checkered room around them. Nate gulped as he recognized what the room was. But he couldn't substitute, and thinking of it, he wasn't even sure if he had a Pokemon slower than a Beheemyem. Figuring that he can just wing it, it was time to act.

"Dragon Claw, again!"

"Psychic." Previously Flygon was very fast, but now she was floating at a much slower pace, making the Mystic Pokemon gasp. Its fingers blinking, it surrounded the dragon/ground type with a blue outline before lifting her higher into the air. She tried to escape but it was in vain as she was then sent smashing into the field. She fainted.

"Flygon, return. Good job. Take a good rest. Scrafty, let's go!" Colress chuckled as he witnessed the Hoodlum Pokemon being brought out. "Hidden Power." Forming orbs of brown energy, it fired them at the slowler dark/fighting type, which caused an explosion from the impact. Scrafty screamed from agony as he fell back, badly hurt.

"That looked like a fighting variant of Hidden Power." Iris noticed.

"And if I had to guess it's last move, it would have to be Thunderbolt." Hugh added. "Good thing he didn't go with Hydro." Scrafty was able to pick himself up, panting from the damage he gained.

"Come on Scrafty, we can do this! Use Crunch!"

"Hidden Power." Forming more brown orbs, it fired them, but Scrafty was ready as he jumped over them, and bit down on the psychic type on the top of its head. It groaned loudly before falling to the ground, having fainted from the pain.

"Beheeyem, return. Time to show my trump card of today. Klinklang, go!" This steel type is an assortment of gears that came to life. Since Trick Room was still in effect, and Klingklang are known to be faster than Scrafty, Nate saw an opportunity to win.

"Brick Break!" Nate ordered. With a glowing arm, the dark/fighting type charged and was about to strike.

"Gear Grind." While Scrafty was able to land a powerful blow against the steel type and forced the floating foe to move back from the impact, the spinning gears of the Gear Pokemon managed to be pinched royally and thus he screamed. In retaliation he bashed his rocky helmet against his enemy but it did little more than damage Klinklang before he was grinded out again, incapacitated as he fell off.

"Klinklang!" The clump of gears said.

"Scrafty, return! Arcanine, let's go!" Seeing the Legendary Pokemon, Colress finally lost his smile. "Gear Grind!" Spinning its gears around, Klinklang attempted to charge but Nate was able to command,

"Counter with Flamethrower!" Expelling a stream of flame, the life orb enhanced fire attack managed to not only halt the steel type, but push it back in fact as it was pushed through the ground, creating a trench that Klinklang crashed through until it stopped at Colress's feet.

"Klin...klang." It moaned.

"Klinklang is unable to battle! The winner is Arcanine, and thus the champion of the Driftveil Tournament is Nate Wayland!" As Colress returned his Pokemon, he was certainly pleased.

"Well done, I learned much from this battle! Your Pokemon must be so happy to be by your side." And even without Nate saying anything it was apparent with the way Arcanine was licking at his face.

"Heh, you could say that. I certainly help them do their best."

"The results of that are obvious. I have no doubt we'll meet again." And with that he left the field.

As Nate entered the lobby, he was surprised when Iris gave him a big hug with a flying leap!

"Congratulations Nate! You won the tournament!"

"Of course he won. After all, if he hadn't beaten me I definitely would've won." Hugh tried to play himself up with a smug smile.

"Yeah right. You would've just spammed and Emboar/Stoutland/Azumarill combo in whatever order was necessary." Nate mocked as he stuck a tongue out. That just annoyed the anger prone trainer.

"Why you little-!"

"Guys, no need to fight! We should celebrate!" Iris slung an arm over both boy's shoulders as she wanted to get dessert from the market.

"Hehe, alright! Let's get the biggest cake we can find!"

"Heh, whatever." The two of them agreed in their own way."

A/N: I can't wait to cover the PWT in the post-game chapters. Gym leaders and champions. Anyway, while you guys have been saying pretty much nothing, should I cover the two episodes from the anime involving the Nature Trio, or no? Would it make it interesting if they each had Tornadus, Thundurus and Landorus in their top 6 or would that make the story too easy and boring? Review.
