Oliver returned to Storybrooke two months after Remy, "guess who's getting married?"
"Remy," Emma said.
"Seriously?" Oliver was surprised.
"Dude, I told you before I left," Remy said.
"No, you didn't."
"Who cares if you told him or not," Emma said before hugging her son and congratulating him. She also invited her son's fiancee to dinner that night.
That night, only Oliver and Marie joined Emma and the girls for dinner. They decided that things had worked out better that way than when everyone had been around at Thanksgiving. Marie was wealthy and a talker. The mood at dinner was completely different from the dinner with Remy and Suzy. "Oliver, dear, could you help me take some of these dishes into the kitchen?" Regina asked her son.
Oliver agreed and waited until he and his mother were in the kitchen before speaking, "so, what do you think?" he asked excitedly.
"I think she's an entitled, spoiled brat."
"Seriously?"
"Oliver, she hasn't let anyone say a word. All she's done is brag about where she grew up and everything she has."
"She's nervous."
"Nerves have nothing to do with it."
Emma walked in, "Marie wants to know if we have caviar? She'd rather have that than dessert," Emma said emotionlessly.
Regina gestured at Emma as if to say 'see' to her son, "I don't get this. You both have been great to Ella and Suzy. I mean things started a bit rocky, but you always thought highly of them."
"Kid, she just hasn't made a good impression," Emma said as she grabbed the pie. "Now, let's get this over with before I pistol-whip her."
Emma walked out of the room and Regina looked at Oliver, "she will too." Regina and Oliver followed Emma.
"Marie, would you like some pie?" Emma asked.
"No, thank you. I don't care for pie."
"Mommy makes the best pie," Odette said.
"Well, it may taste great but it doesn't look good on many people. Pie makes you gain weight. If I had eaten pie, then Oliver would have never noticed me."
Odette put her fork down and frowned. "It's apple pie," Faline said.
"Once you put all that junk on the apples, it's no longer healthy. It cuts years off of your life."
Faline put down her fork with a frightened look on her face. "Marie, will you play dolls with me after dessert?" Stella asked. Suzy had done that after her dinner and it was Stella's way of testing the girls.
"I'm not a baby."
"Alright, that's it!" Regina said as she threw her napkin on the table. "No one comes in here and insults my family like that. You have been rude and obnoxious since you walked through the door. You are no better than anyone here. In fact, you're far worse and I was the Evil Queen!"
"Yeah," the little girls said.
Regina stood, "my children are all happy and healthy and what I feed them is of no concern to you. We teach our children that it's what's on the inside that matters and to not be self-conscious about your body. It only takes one person to mess that all up and I won't let you do that. I want you out of my house right now!"
"Mom, come on," Oliver pleaded.
"I have never given any of you an ultimatum like this, but if you marry her, you're no longer my son." Regina stormed out of the room and this time when the plates hit the ground, it was because Regina threw them there in anger.
"Mama," Oliver turned to Emma.
"I'll talk to mom about that last part, but she wasn't wrong about anything else. I think you both need to leave."
Oliver and Marie left. He was angry and she appeared to be upset. Emma went to check on her wife, "they're gone...holy shit! Do we have any plates left?" Emma asked after seeing the mess.
"Relax," Regina waved her hand and put the plates back together.
"I told them that you weren't wrong, but that I'd also talk to you about disowning him. I can't believe you'd do that."
"I can't believe the boy we raised would choose to marry someone like that."
"Maybe she's pregnant?"
"Oh, we're not that lucky."
"You'll regret this. I know you will."
"After the things she said to our young daughters, I don't give a damn."
Later on that night the doorbell rang. Emma answered the door to find a shy-looking Marie on the other side. "You really have a death wish. Regina will kill you."
"I came to apologize and explain."
Emma was surprised, "come in." She led Marie to where everyone was in the living room, "before anyone says anything, she's here to apologize." Emma sat by Regina while Marie stood before them and the girls.
"I'm truly sorry for my behavior early. I wasn't raised to behave that way. I was nervous and I thought I could impress you by talking a big talk. Yes, my mother is wealthy, but my father was homeless. He'd take me and my brothers to the streets he lived on to show us what life is really like for others. Oliver didn't really tell me anything about the two of you and I could only go by what I've heard. I'm so sorry." She turned to the girls, "I really do love dessert and I'm sorry for hurting and scaring you. That's the last thing I want. Stella, it's too late tonight, but I'll play dolls with you anytime. I've never had sisters and I'd love to do sister things with you all." She turned back to face Emma and Regina, "I hope you all can forgive me."
"How do we know that you're genuine?" Regina asked.
"I guess you don't."
"Oliver doesn't have money," Regina added.
"I'm aware," Marie said.
Oliver ran in and stood in front of Marie, "don't kill her!"
Emma and Regina rolled their eyes. The sheriff stood and walked over to her son. She whacked him upside the head, "how could you not tell her anything about us? Especially the woman who was once the Evil Queen."
"I guess I didn't think to."
"Have you met her parents?" Regina asked.
"Yeah, why?"
"Did she tell you about them?"
"Yeah, lots of things."
Emma whacked his arm, "idiot."
"Ow, stop that."
"You had that coming," Regina said.
"I'm going to take that has your head injury talking."
"Emma," Regina said and Emma whacked the other arm, "thank you."
"I'm sorry," Oliver said.
"Apologize to Marie!" Emma yelled.
Oliver turned towards his fiance, "I'm sorry."
The girl smiled, "it's okay."
"See, this Marie I don't want to pistol-whip," Emma said.
"What?" Marie asked confused.
"I don't want to send her to Wonderland," Regina said.
"Wow, I knew dinner was bad, but not that bad," Oliver said.
Faline sighed, "did you not hear what she said in front of mom about apple pie? And mama about pie?"
"Wrong things to criticize in this house," Odette said.
"Mom is the apple queen," Stella said, "and mama's the dessert queen. Actually, she's the food queen."
"Are we good?" Oliver asked.
"Yeah," Regina answered, "we're good."
"You're not going to apologize for threatening to cut me out?"
"Hell no! You had that coming."
"Thanks, mom," Oliver groaned.
Regina stood and hugged her son, "I love you."
"I love you too, mom."
Regina then hugged Marie, "at least now you know not to mess with us."
"You're not kidding."
Regina smiled at the girl when she pulled out of the hug, "welcome to the family."
Remy and Suzy tied the knot after Lucy's first birthday. By then, Marie had become close with the entire family. She decided to do everything she could to make it up to them. The girl even offered to babysit and help Regina out. Two months after Remy and Suzy's wedding, Oliver and Marie got married. Both weddings were equally beautiful and really represented the couples. Remy and Suzy's wedding was filled with bright colors. Oliver and Marie's had pastels and was more demure. Emma and Regina got along really well with the parents of both girls.
Two years after Lucy was born, Henry and Ella welcomed another daughter named Celia. Regina and Emma spoiled their granddaughters like crazy, but that didn't bother Henry and Ella. They loved it. The other couples decided to take their time and have some fun before having kids. Emma and Regina loved their big, dysfunctional, non-traditional family. "Do you think the girls will marry young?" Regina asked.
"Not Faline," Emma scoffed, "that girl is just fine without a man."
"Odette probably will."
"Yeah, she's probably already searching for her Prince Charming."
"Stella will be younger than Faline and older than Odette," Regina said.
"She'll be too busy testing the boys she meets," Emma laughed.
Regina laughed too, "do you think it's weird that two women, who are married to each other, keep thinking of their daughters marrying men?"
"No, because they've never shown an interest in women. Not that they have with boys. Well, maybe Odette has."
"I'm fine if they would rather be with a woman."
"So am I, but they're still young. I don't identify as a lesbian, but I prefer you over any man."
"I'm just better."
"That was your cue to say the same about me."
"I don't lie," Regina joked, "I'm just in this for the prestige of being married to the savior."
Emma laughed, "I never thought that this would be my life."
"I know what you mean, but I've never wanted anything to work out more."
"I never dreamed I would be wanted."
Regina kissed her wife, "you're not just wanted. You're needed," she said softly, "I can't do this without you."
"I need you too and as for wanting you, well, I'll show you tonight just how wanted you are."
Regina smiled at her wife. The two had been together for twenty-three years, through thick and thin, they've broken up and been separated, but they always found their way back to each other.
