I have sections in this chapter in italics that's because they happen while Serenity and Endymion are still alive.

Luna sauntered into Darien's study. Serena was out talking to Lita, and Darien was acting funny. She wanted answers.

She jumped up on his desk that was covered with medical textbooks, and she looked at him oddly, "What in the world are you studying for? These subjects are all over the place."

Darien sighed and ran his fingers through his hair in frustration, "The Legendary Silver Crystal. I can't figure out what I could use to scan for it that I can get ahold of. Everything that I think would work I can't use!" He then banged his fist down in frustration. "They keep records of the use of their machines at the hospital, and you have to be licensed to use them."

Luna couldn't help herself. She started laughing at him. "You want to scan for the Silver Crystal?"

"Yes, Mina said it's inside of her, and we need to cut it out."

"No! She said we need to get it out. That's a huge difference!" She rolled her eyes at him, "Sheesh, leave it to a future surgeon to think of cutting her open."

"What are you talking about? What else would we do if it's inside of her?" He looked at Luna in confusion.

"Can you scan for her Senshi Fuku or her powers? Where are they located?" she reasoned.

"She just has access to them."

Luna nodded and pointed her paw at one of the books, "And how would one of these things find a power she has? The Silver Crystal, even more than her Sailor Moon powers, is something she has to access. You can't cut her powers out of her, and you can't cut the crystal out either."

"But I'm going to be a doctor. How else am I supposed to help her find it?"

Luna walked over to him and lightly bumped her head against his arm when she said, "Your love, Silly. You're her soulmate. That's how you help her access her powers."

He chuckled at the humor of the situation, "So these books are useless. I have to help her with the one thing I'm the most inept with. My heart. I kept that locked up for years."

"You might be fooling yourself, but you're not fooling me. She feels adored. You're a great boyfriend. Although, I thought you'd have proposed by now."

Darien ran his fingers through his hair, "I've had the ring for a while. When the attacks and new Sailor Scouts kept coming, I waited. I knew she would want everyone possible involved. Then Mina showed up, and half the girls were mad at her. I'm trying to find a good time."

"Beryl and the Negaverse are coming. You might want to stop looking for a good time and just ask her," Luna advised. "Plus," she added, "don't you think that anything that makes Serena feel loved will help her access the Silver Crystal?"

He grew excited and asked, "You think the engagement is the key?!"

"No, I think you're the key. I think the engagement could help, maybe." Luna then jumped off the desk and onto the floor.

"Thanks, Luna," he said before she left the room. He then put away all his books, shaking his head at himself and his theory.

Metalia searched far and wide. She needed someone whose greed and lust for power were endless. She floated through the blackness of space, and she roiled with happiness. She found the perfect person to promise untold power. She would be her pawn and would serve Metalia well.

She landed on Earth and appeared before Beryl, who was pacing and furious. "What angers you, Beryl?"

Beryl looked at the mass of energy in shock and hissed out, "What are you?!"

"I am the being that can give you your deepest desire - unlimited power."

"Why? Why would you give that to me?"

"With that power, you could get me the one thing I need. So, what angers you?"

"Endymion, he's married and foiled all my plans! I want to kill that moon-whore who married him."

Metalia was pleased with her chosen pawn. She already desired to attack the Moon Kingdom. Perfect. She said, "I can give you the power you need to obtain every single one of your goals."

"What do I have to do?" Beryl looked at her, smiling. She didn't care what she had to give up, what she had to endure. She wanted the throne, and she now wanted Serenity dead at her feet.

"I want you and King Elis working together. He has the Golden Crystal, which is not compatible with my powers. Make sure not to give him any. You, I will give untold power. With the combined power the two of you will have, you can achieve anything. All that I need you to do is obtain the Silver Crystal that Queen Serenity controls. Bring me that, and I will ensure your reign. Between you and the King of Earth, you should be able to get such a tiny thing for me. Then you can destroy the moon and Princess Serenity." She then sweetened the lie, "You are now Queen Beryl; you will reign over the solar system for all time."

"And Endymion can be my husband? His father is growing old, and I find I would like a younger man at my side."

"It will all be as you want."

Queen Serenity smiled as she saw her daughter and Endymion walking in the garden, smiling at each other and hand in hand. She knew the joy of young love, and she was pleased with how much Endymion adored her.

She felt the Silver Crystal's power move inside of her. She knew it was affected by her own heart. She missed her beloved husband. He hadn't even lived long enough to meet his daughter. But still, her heart endured for him.

The crystal pulsed, and she placed her hand over her chest and smiled. It was excited over the love between Serenity and Endymion. She knew they had something special, and she had to do everything she could to guard their love.

She knew she would do anything for them or die trying.

Note: I like Darien and Luna getting along. I feel like he's everything Luna wanted Serena to be in the anime. He's studious and takes everything seriously. I feel like they could get along well.
