Blueeyeddevil06, thank you for being my beta!
Molly sat down in Mina's beautiful apartment on her plush couch. She was curious as to why Mina had invited her over.
"Okay. It's hardly surprising that Serena was right," Mina said, starting off right away. "I should've known I would like you. I'm sorry about my first reaction to you."
Molly shrugged, "From what I can tell about you, you serve Serena, and you take that seriously. You trust the other girls, and you were reluctant to like or trust someone you don't know well. I'm not offended in the slightest."
"But -"
"No," Molly said, cutting her off. "If you need to hear you're forgiven, fine. You're forgiven. Now, can we move on?"
Mina smiled at her and sat down on the couch next to her, "Thank you." She then sighed and added, "I'm excited to get to know you. You're… new. I don't know if that makes sense. It's kinda nice to have someone who's a mystery. I know the other girls so well."
"So well that you were right all along about their soulmates. Amy and Zoisite really are perfect for each other. I worry about him now that he's back at D Point." She plucked nervously at the fringe on the pillow next to her.
"So do I, but I am really encouraged that Kunzite is acting oddly." Mina sighed out, "I'm being a bit selfish about this."
"Tell me about the two of you. You remember loving him. That must be… difficult."
Mina got a sappy look on her face and said, "We were actually the first to marry. Even before Serena and Darien. She had a huge wedding to plan, and we could sneak off. We did just that."
"I bet it was romantic," Molly sighed happily, smiling at Mina.
She nodded and said, "It was incredible. His vows took my breath away."
"Did you marry on the moon?"
"No, we had to marry on Venus. It was the only way we could have the ceremony he wanted. He bound himself to me even through death. Actually, we are bound to each other through death."
"What does that even mean?" she asked wide-eyed.
"It's a huge deal, even for Venetians. You stayed married even once you die. It means that when one spouse dies, you can't remarry."
"That sounds… what if they die young?"
Mina nodded, "That's why it's such a big deal. You're still married. Any relationship you have would be… frowned upon."
"And he chose that?"
"He insisted. Like super insisted. He refused to have any other type of ceremony. He said if I wasn't that serious about him he wouldn't bind himself to me. It was so incredibly romantic."
"Wow, so when does the marriage end?"
"Well, technically, we're still married. It doesn't end. Ever," Mina fidgeted in her seat.
Molly looked at her with wide eyes, "You're married?"
"Not legally here, but our vows still stand." Mina fiddled with her shirt and added, "I've had contact with him. We've been having sex. I haven't told anyone, though. I feel a bit guilty, but I didn't want anyone to judge me."
Molly understood why she hadn't said anything. She didn't want to explain how it was affecting her emotionally either. She could see it in her eyes. She was afraid of breaking down. Apparently, their discussion made her able to talk about it without crying. What she said was, "Is the sex good?"
"So fucking good! He's an ass and does things he thinks will bother me, but damn, does it drive me wild." Mina then cracked a smile at the memory of them together.
"Once he's a good guy again, I'm sure that will help him if he knows that he pleased his wife sexually," Molly teased.
Mina fiddled with the couch pillow and said, "what if he doesn't want me when he's-"
"Stop!" Molly ordered. "Amy was so pissed when you said she had to be with Zoisite. She was sure Zack was perfect for her. You insisted, and you had so much resistance, and yet you were right. You wanted the best for her, and he was it. Kunzite will love you when he's good."
Molly pondered everything for a bit and said, "Maybe that's why you remember."
"What?"
"You remember, and the other girls don't. What if your vows with Kunzite caused that? You're still married, and you would have to remember that marriage in your next life in order to honor those vows. Maybe part of the vows is that you maintain your memory in the next life, so you don't inadvertently cheat on your spouse."
Mina looked at her in shock, "There's no way to prove that theory, but you might be right. It would make sense. I assumed I remembered because I'm her head guard."
"But then wouldn't Darien remember? Surely, if Queen Serenity could make you remember, she'd make the man that loved her daughter remember too."
Mina ran her fingers through her hair and pondered that. "Wow, I really think you must be right. That's… It makes so much sense!"
She looked at Molly with respect shining in her eyes, "First the masquerade and now this. You're brilliant."
"I was wrong about the Silver Crystal being the Legendary Treasure," Molly pointed out.
"Yes, but it helped us figure out that the Negaverse would attack. I'm glad you're part of this group. I regret trying to keep you out."
"Don't. I said it's over, and I'm happy to help. I think we can understand each other. We both want to protect Serena."
Raye was dressed perfectly in a stunning yet modest dress. After all, she was going out to dinner with her father to meet with some campaign contributors. She was prepared to hate the evening. She reminded herself she had new killer, expensive, high heels on her feet that she adored. They cost more than her dress, and she was excited to own them.
"Hello, father," She said when she got in his car. She wanted to make sure she didn't slip and call him by his first name during the evening, so she was practicing now.
"You should sound a little happier to see me, Raye. I got the last credit card bill. Trust me. I'm paying for you to behave," he scolded her.
"I will be perfect in front of your contributors and constituents. That is what you are purchasing. Is there anything I need to know ahead of time?"
"Yes, everyone believes that you are in university majoring in politics like your dear old dad. Don't mention even living at the shrine," he ordered her.
"What do they think your father does?" She asked bitterly.
"Oh, I couldn't hide that from them. Luckily my older constituents like the fact that my father holds onto the old ways and is a priest at a shrine. It makes me seem more of a traditionalist to them. After all, I was raised at the shrine."
"And you hated it!"
"They don't know that, and you won't tell them. Make sure your act tonight is perfect."
She gave him a dirty look and said, "Don't worry, I won't screw up anything for you. No matter how fake it all is. Should I tell them you wept by my mother's bedside while she died? We can go for massive lies tonight."
He rolled his eyes, "I had a political event that evening."
"No," she corrected. "I'm not stupid. The night mom died, you were fucking your redheaded mistress. She knew it too. I hate you."
"I don't care if you hate me. Just behave tonight."
"I have behaved perfectly at every event you've taken me to recently. Tonight won't be any different."
He gave her a curt nod and said, "And I'm keeping my end of the bargain. At the next campaign cycle, I'm going to tell everyone you're interning at the United Nations. Hence, the need for the political science degree."
"I must be such a disappointment to you," she snapped.
When they stopped at a traffic light, he looked her in the eye and said, "You really are. You have too much of your mother in you. You're both weak."
That amused her, and she smiled. She was fucking Sailor Mars. She was made for war, and he called her weak. He was such a fool that his cutting comment didn't even bother her. Instead, she replied, "You have no idea how glad I am that I'm nothing like you. The best thing you ever did for me was have your father raise me after mom died."
"It isn't like I wanted to keep you around."
They arrived at the country club, and a valet came to open her door then go park the car.
That night she played her role so perfectly that even her father gave her a genuine smile.
"Is Professor Peters still part of the political science department?" one of her father's friends asked. Her father had introduced him as a close friend, which meant he was a significant contributor.
"No, he retired, but Professor Moore took her place. I'm excited to take his class next year. This year I'm just fulfilling basic requirements." The conversation continued about her fake political science degree. She noticed her father fidgeting, which meant he was angry. She wondered what she said to set him off.
The first minute he could, he pulled her to the side and whispered harshly, "What the fuck was that for? He can check and find out you were lying about your professors. Why did you have to say she retired?!" He was incensed that his contributor could find out his lie.
Raye smirked and rolled her eyes, "But she did retire. My friend is a political science major there, and she told me about it. Everything I said is true, well, for her. She'll have Professor Moore next year."
The anger melted out of him immediately, and he smiled. "Well done! Why didn't you tell me you have knowledge of the political science program?"
She snorted and said, "I didn't want to. It would have pleased you. It wasn't part of our deal."
"You're being petty."
"That must really make you happy. It's one of the few personality traits I got from you."
