This story will be divided into three parts. Ch1-11, ch12-17, and ch18-32.

Part 1: Sometime after Cora's death

Emma was getting dressed, "do you have to leave?"

"I have to get to work or my dad will be suspicious," Emma said.

"I'm top dog here," Regina replied.

Emma leaned down and kissed the woman, "I'll see you later."

"I could go into the office and call to request your help with something."

"I look forward to it." Emma reluctantly left and Regina got ready. The two had been seeing one another romantically for four months. No one, not even Henry, knew. There was still no love for the Evil Queen in Storybrooke.

Snow walked into the sheriff's office, "hey, where's Emma?"

"Regina needed her help with something. That's like the fourth time this week. In fact, she calls Emma to her office a lot."

"Maybe they're discussing Henry."

"Then why wouldn't she tell me?"

Snow shrugged, "why don't we just go to Regina's office and say we're on our way to lunch? We can see if Emma wants to go."

David and Snow walked over to the mayor's office. Her secretary went on break before the couple arrived. David took out the key he had made for emergencies and opened the door. "What the hell?" he yelled.

Emma jumped off of Regina. Both women were flushed and their clothes were messy. "What are you two doing here?" Emma asked.

"First, could you button your shirt," David requested angrily. Both Emma and Regina quickly went about fixing their clothes. "Now, you're going to tell us what's going on."

"I think we already know," Snow said.

"Look, it's not a big deal," Emma said.

"Not a big deal? You're making out with the Evil Queen!" David yelled.

"She's not the Evil Queen anymore!" Emma argued.

"She killed Snow's parents, her own father, and countless others. She has killed your family."

"Regina made amends to me for that. She hasn't talked to either of you because she figured you were both still angry."

David slowly walked up to Regina until they were so close that their noses were practically touching, "you stay the hell away from my daughter. Otherwise, you'll be joining your mother in the underworld."

"David!" Emma yelled.

"She's not good enough for you. I don't care if you want to be with a woman but at least pick one who isn't a heartless, cold-blooded, killer."

"David," Snow scolded her husband and took his arm. She pulled him away from Regina and out of the room.

Emma shut the door and locked it. She walked up to Regina and had her sit next to her on the couch. The blonde pulled her girlfriend into a tight hug as she cried. Emma wanted her parents in her life, but David had gone too far.

Snow and David walked into their apartment to find a letter from Emma. The blonde took her things and Henry to Regina's. "You went too far," Snow said.

"I'll go get her and Henry."

"No! You need to leave them alone for now."

"Why aren't you upset about this?"

"I'm not sure what I am. I guess I'm conflicted because I know what Regina has done, but if Emma is serious about her then I'd like to try and be open about this."

"I can't deal with this."

"David, we already lost her once. It took twenty-eight years to get her back."

"Last time we lost her was because of Regina too."

"Just take a step back and think about this before doing something you may live to regret."

David sat down and put his head in his hands. After he went to bed, Snow called Emma to tell her that she was open to giving Regina a chance. Emma was thrilled about her mother's reaction. She also could understand her father's. It did blindside him and that's definitely not how she wanted her parents to find out. He could have knocked though.

Emma and David continued to work together but they only talked about work, Snow, and Henry. They basically pretended Regina didn't exist. Two months later, David showed up at Regina's. The brunette reluctantly let the man in. "Are you here to kill me?"

"No, I'm here to apologize for my behavior. I know it was two months ago, but I've realized that I was quick to judge. Emma is happier than I've ever seen her. I have no doubt that's mostly because of you."

"I appreciate your apology. I know it's not enough, but I really am sorry for everything."

"I know and I'm going to try and keep an open mind."

"That means a lot," she slurred. A look of confusion appeared on her face.

David decided to ignore it so as not to embarrass her. "Snow and I would like to take you and Emma to dinner tonight."

"I'll check with Emma, but that should be fine," Regina slurred her words again.

"Okay, I was trying to ignore it, but are you okay?"

"I don't know. Maybe I'm tired?"

"Take a nap and see if that helps. Is anything else wrong?"

"No," Regina answered.

"Well, if you can't do dinner tonight then we can try another time. Just rest and see if that helps."

"Thank you, David."

"Sure, um, I can show myself out."

David left and Regina placed the tips of her fingers on her lips. She had been having headaches more often lately and now she was slurring her words. Regina went to her room and got into bed for a nap. She hoped that when she woke up, she'd feel and sound better.
