The next morning, Emma noticed that Regina was already awake when she woke up, "how do you feel?" she asked as she sat up and stretched.
"Exhausted," Regina answered.
"Did you not sleep well or is it..."
"I didn't sleep after we talked last night."
"When did we talk? When I went to sleep, you were out."
"I woke up during the night and tried to get you to come to bed with me."
"Are you sure that you didn't dream that?"
"Why do you think I'm mad at you?"
"Because you didn't sleep and you're tired."
"No," Regina answered, "last night you told me that you slept on the chaise because I was mad at you. I asked why you thought I was mad at you and you asked to talk about it later. Well, it's later."
Emma suddenly remembered what Regina was talking about, "I don't know why I said that. I just fell asleep here last night. I guess I was really tired." Emma stood and left to brush her teeth. When she was done, she opened the door to find Regina standing there, "damn, Regina. You scared the shit out of me. You need to get back into bed."
"Tell me the truth."
"I did," Emma said, "now get back in bed."
"Not until you tell me the truth. I know that you're lying to me."
"Alright," Emma said, "I did lie. Now, will you go back to bed? I'll tell you then." Emma helped Regina turn and held on as they walked back to the bedroom. Once Regina was settled, Emma sat on the edge of the bed. "Yesterday, while you were trying to eat lunch, I asked you who helped you during these episodes before I moved in."
"And I told you no one."
"It was how you told me."
"How did I tell you?"
"You just sounded irritated and angry with me."
"Why are you still here? After everything you have learned, why are you still here?" Regina began to cry, "you are not supposed to be with me. I'm the Evil Queen and you're the Savior. You're supposed to save everyone from me."
"You know exactly why I'm here and don't change the subject."
"Believe it or not, it's not pleasant to talk about my lonely life before you came along. Do you know why I didn't wear my hearing aid then? I didn't have anyone around to hear."
"You take the lead today. Tell me what you need, when you need it."
"Thank you," Regina whispered.
"You're welcome," Emma leaned in and kissed her girlfriend, "I love you."
"I love you too."
Two days later, Regina was feeling better so Emma took her out for lunch at Granny's. Regina looked up after getting settled in the booth, "what are you smiling at?" she asked Emma.
"Nothing," the blonde picked up the menu.
"We might have to start sitting at a table. I can barely fit in a booth anymore." Regina looked up after Emma started laughing, "that's what you were smiling about. Wasn't it?"
"I'm sorry, but you have always been so thin. Seeing you trying to fit in the booth was cute and amusing."
"I'm glad that my looking like a whale can bring a smile to your face."
"Regina, you know I'm just teasing you. You look amazing and are still so damn thin."
"You were when you were pregnant."
"I know, but I was hoping you weren't so I could have that."
Regina rolled her eyes and smiled, "what have I gotten myself into?"
"Trouble," Emma joked. Once they had finished, Emma paid the bill and went to help Regina up, "are you ready?"
"Could you go to the car and get my cane?"
"What's wrong?"
"I can just tell that I need it."
Emma went to the car to retrieve the walking aid. She handed it to Regina when she returned and helped the mayor turn her body so she could stand. Regina held onto Emma and the cane while she stood. Her legs were a bit wobbly, but she managed. Granny held the door open for the two. "Are you doing alright?" Emma asked as they started walking down the stairs.
"I think so," Regina breathed out.
"What happened?"
Emma helped Regina into the car, "maybe I need to rest more? I don't know."
"Does anything hurt?"
"No, it's nothing out of the ordinary."
As her pregnancy progressed, Regina began to need more time in bed. She was miserable, but every time she felt her baby move, she smiled. Emma and Regina added two more boys to their family. Regina gave birth to Remy Robert Mills and Emma gave birth to Oliver David Mills.
