Regina was released after spending a week in the hospital. She was told to rest and take it easy. That wasn't going to be a problem as long as Emma was in charge. The day after Regina came home, Emma woke up when she heard her wife groan. She rolled over and saw her wife waking up, "hey, are you alright?"
"I need to stay in bed today," Regina whispered without opening her eyes.
"Okay," Emma said, "just rest."
"We have plans with your parents."
"You stay up here and rest. I'll invite them over for dinner instead."
"I don't deserve you."
"No, but that's okay. No one does."
Regina smiled and that made Emma smiled too. "You're a piece of work," Regina said.
"But I'm your piece of work."
"Shut up," the mayor laughed, "I'm supposed to rest and you aren't helping."
Emma kissed the woman, "let me know if you need anything. I'll take care of tonight."
"Thank you," Regina whispered before drifting off to sleep.
Snow and David agreed that they should reschedule their plans with Emma and Regina. The mayor slept on and off the entire day. The next day she felt slightly better. "I was never able to ask how dinner with your parents went."
"We rescheduled," Emma said.
"Emma," Regina groaned.
"It was their idea. It's not a big deal."
"I just feel bad."
"Well, don't," Emma responded.
"I hope I don't feel like this for the next four months."
"I know and I hope you don't either. You should be able to enjoy this time."
Regina's condition varied throughout her pregnancy. There were days when she felt great and days when she needed a lot of rest. She had more trouble moving around as the baby grew. Emma would push her wife around in a wheelchair during the mayor's third trimester. One night, Emma had to go out to the scene of an accident. Belle had been shot by Hook and fell over the town line. A car had hit Hook and crashed. Henry woke up during the night while Emma was out. He got up to go to the bathroom and found Regina slowly walking down the hall. She had a hand on the wall, the other on her lower back, and was breathing strangely.
"Mom, are you alright?"
Regina didn't turn around, "I'm fine, Henry. Go back to bed."
Henry knew his mother was lying based on her physical appearance and the pain in her voice. "I got up to go to the bathroom. I'll just go, but if something's wrong then you can tell me."
"Thank you," Regina said softly.
Henry went to the bathroom and was drying his hands off when he heard his mother gasp. He ran out and saw her slide to the floor, "mom! Mom, what's wrong?" Henry noticed the floor was wet.
"Call your mama," she said, "my water broke."
Henry went to get his phone. The call went to voicemail and Henry left a panicked message before taking the phone and returning to his mother. "Should I call an ambulance?"
"No, I'll wait for Emma."
"She didn't answer."
"I'll give her a few minutes." Regina gasped and groaned when a contraction hit. Henry did his best to help his mother. Remy and Oliver woke up and walked out into the hall. They sat with Henry and their mom to help as well.
Henry had sent Emma a message that the floor was wet and to be careful. Emma rushed up the stairs and crouched by her wife, "are they close?"
"No," Regina answered, "we have time to get to the hospital."
"I called my parents and they're going to come over to stay with the boys." Emma looked at her sons, "go back to bed and don't leave the house without one of your grandparents."
The boys gave their moms their love and wished them luck before heading back to bed. Emma got Regina on her feet, down the stairs, and to the car. It didn't take long to get Regina to a room. Eight hours after her water broke, a loud cry filled the room. Regina held her newborn daughter for a few minutes before handing her over to get cleaned up. It was then that she felt another contraction. "What the hell?"
The doctor returned to his position and soon another cry was heard, "you have another daughter," the doctor announced.
"Please tell me that's all," Regina said tiredly.
"Well, I doubt we missed two babies on the scan."
"How did we not see her?" Emma asked.
"Well, she could have been hiding or she could have magic."
"Just what we need," the sheriff said, "a newborn with magic."
After the babies were cleaned up, both moms held them. "Emma, I'd like to name this one Odette Margaret Mills," Regina said referring to the baby she was holding. The one who had been born first.
"Then this one should be Faline Regina Mills," Emma said.
Regina chuckled, "you know, I don't mind when they cry."
"Really?"
"My hearing aid helped, but it didn't make my hearing normal. Any sound I hear from them is beautiful."
Emma smiled at her wife. The couple never thought they'd welcome another baby let alone two. Regina felt all the years she struggled with fertility were worth it. They had been incredibly painful, but she now had two healthy baby girls. Eight months later, Emma gave birth to another baby girl Regina named Stella Cora Mills. The driver in the accident had kidnapped and electrocuted Regina for hours. It caused nerve damage, but once again, Blue helped rid her of pain and discomfort. The next year would find the family in Neverland and then separated. Emma and the kids went to New York with new memories that didn't include Storybrooke. Everyone else went back to the Enchanted Forest. Eventually, they all made it back to Storybrooke. Regina felt empty without her wife and children but knew they had done the right thing. Just like her parents, Regina and Emma always found each other. Regina was in love with her life. Her physical disability may still pop up here and there, but her hearing was perfect. Just like her family.
"Do you think life will ever calm down?" Emma asked.
"If you knew everything that happened in the Enchanted Forest before the curse, you wouldn't be asking that."
"So how many people there are out for you?"
"Let me put it to you this way. The only people who aren't out for me are here in Storybrooke."
"Yikes, that's not good. Don't worry, I've got your back."
"I know, dear."
"Well, honey, what should we do while we wait for the next curse or crisis?"
"Spend time with the kids. I'd also like to sit and enjoy the beautiful sounds of my children and wife."
"Then that's what we'll do."
