Regina was stunned to see her mother. She shouldn't have been able to enter Storybrooke. Regina had stopped talking to Emma and the blonde was deeply upset by this. She figured out that Regina and Cora were after Gold's dagger. Rumple was in the back of his shop, dying when Cora and Regina entered.
"Regina, what are you doing? This isn't you," Emma said.
"This is her," Cora said.
"Regina, you've changed and I know that better than anyone. You don't have to do this."
"Yes, she does," Cora showed Emma, David, and Snow a horrifying image.
"You took her heart?" Emma was furious.
"You took your own daughter's heart?" Snow was possibly more pissed than Emma.
"She'll get it back when the job is done."
"Where is it?" Emma demanded.
"Locked away, but if she strays then it will be turned to dust."
Regina began to fight Emma, but the blonde fought back just as hard. Cora fought Neal, Gold's long-lost son he had just reunited with. Cora began to feel pain from someone messing with her own heart that was in Regina's vault. She sent her daughter to retrieve it while she stayed to finish off Gold. When Regina rushed down the stairs of her vault, she saw Snow walking towards the stairs with two boxes.
"What are you doing in my vault?" Regina asked Snow angrily.
"I was bringing you and your mother your hearts. This has to end and it won't without them."
Regina snatched the two boxes from Snow and left. Snow sat on the steps outside of the vault with her head in her hands. She couldn't believe what she had just done.
It had been three days since Snow had killed Cora and no one had heard from Regina. That was concerning because it made everyone suspect that she was plotting something. The door of the loft flew off the hinges and Regina walked in with a look of revenge on her face.
"Regina, stop," Emma begged.
"She killed my mother!"
"Your mother killed her mother!"
"So an eye for an eye?"
"Regina, we need to talk about this. What you're doing isn't the answer. Snow already feels guilty," David explained.
"She's has a conscious. Great," she huffed, "where was that conscious when she was poisoning my mother's heart?"
"Your mother took anyone's life who got in her way. I guess the poison apple doesn't fall far from the tree," Emma said.
Regina had a fireball in her hand that she put out after that comment. Her face dropped and Emma knew she had gotten through to her. "I'm sorry, Snow," she said softly as she looked down at the floor. Regina placed the door back on the hinges with a wave of her hand. The mayor then turned and walked out of the loft with her head down and her hands in her pockets.
"Emma, go after her," Snow said, "make sure she's alright."
Emma rushed to the hall where she found Regina sitting on the steps, crying. She sat down next to the brunette and took her into her arms. "I'm sorry for hurting you," Emma whispered.
"You were just trying to stop me," Regina said through tears, "nice job by the way."
"Look, let's go home and take a few days to ourselves."
"Home?" Regina looked up at Emma with tears in her eyes.
"Yeah, home," the sheriff smiled. The two women stood, made their way down the stairs, out of the building, and to their home.
