False labor. Regina had never been more relieved to hear two words in her life. She was sent home with strict orders to avoid stress and rest. David had called his daughter while in the waiting room. Snow stayed with Regina the entire time. Regina looked afraid when Emma walked into their room. "Are you alright?" the blonde asked.
"I'm still a bit shaken up."
"I'm so sorry, honey. I never should have said those things to you."
"Well, I kind of pushed you."
Emma walked over and crawled into bed next to her wife, "I love you so much."
"I love you too." Regina said as Emma held her, "I think you should go away for a few days."
"What about you?"
"I'll be fine. Besides, you deserve it."
"So do you."
"Perhaps, but you need a break from me."
"No, just from life."
"Then how will my being with you help?"
"What if I went away for two days and you joined me on the third? I'm sure my mom or dad would drive you."
"I guess we could ask."
"I already did. Would you like me to pack for you before I leave?" Emma asked with a smile.
"Well, it's either you or your mother. I could do it, but I know you want to. Go ahead and pack for me."
Emma had decided on renting a beach house on the coast of Maine. Regina ended up having Gold transport her there with magic. They weren't sure that David or Snow could leave town.
"It's so beautiful here," Regina said as Emma showed her around the house. "How do you feel?"
"Incredibly relaxed," Emma answered calmly.
"Good," Regina said, "now, I'm a bit tired so would you mind if I took a nap?"
"Not at all. Should I help?" Emma always asked that because she found that Regina was more receptive to the word 'should' than 'want' or 'need'.
"I may need help climbing in with this gigantic bump."
"Been there," the blonde said. Emma helped tuck her wife in and placed the woman's phone on the nightstand. She didn't have to say anything because Regina already knew. She knew that she could always call Emma for help or anything.
Emma and David were working late one night and Snow had zonked out on the couch after a very active day with the boys. Regina sat in her bed trying to figure out what to do. She had been in labor most of the day but said nothing because the contractions were still too far apart. Unfortunately, her water broke a half-hour ago. She had knocked her phone on the ground and couldn't get Snow's attention. The woman began to panic.
Emma had tried her wife for the third time, "something's wrong."
"Maybe she's asleep," David suggested. The two had gone to Granny's for a late dinner. Emma had sent Regina a message to tell her but never got a response. The sheriff began blowing up her wife's phone.
"She wakes up when her phone rings. Mom's the one who could sleep through an explosion."
"It's possible that she has," David joked before waving Ruby over. He paid the bill and the two left. David knew how worried his daughter was and it was closing in on midnight. He hoped that everything was fine and Regina was just really tired. The two walked in and sure enough, Snow was out cold.
Emma rushed to her bedroom and found Regina sitting on the floor against the wall. "Oh my God! Are you in labor?"
"Won't make it to the hospital," Regina breathed out.
"I was so worried because you weren't answering your phone."
"It fell on the floor. I couldn't get it and your mom is dead asleep."
"Not anymore," Regina and Emma looked to see Snow and David walking in. "I'm so sorry."
"Don't worry about it," Regina said.
"Call the paramedics. Tell them Regina doesn't think she can make it to the hospital."
David called the paramedics while Snow and Emma coached Regina through labor. "Ah! One of the babies is coming."
Snow had training as a midwife so she took a seat where the doctor would usually be. Emma held her wife and helped encourage her. "Regina, the head's almost out," Snow said. A loud cry filled the room and Snow smiled, "baby girl A is here," Snow said. She cleaned the baby off before handing her to Regina. David eventually took the baby, wrapped her in a blanket, and placed her in a basket with other blankets.
"Odette Margaret," Regina said, "that's her name. I can't believe I have to do this two more times"
Snow smiled at the touching gesture. David had a smile on as well as he wrote the name and time of birth down. He placed the paper in the basket.
The paramedics arrived ten minutes after Odette was born. They realized that Regina was too far into her labor and delivery to be moved at that moment. Forty minutes after Odette was born, baby girl B arrived with lungs as strong as her sister. "Dad, write down Faline Regina."
Faline was cleaned off and handed to her mother before returning to her basket. "I can't do this again," Regina cried.
"Yes, you can. You are courageous and stronger than anyone I've ever met." Regina agrees and allows Emma to help her give birth one last time. An hour after Faline's birth, baby girl C entered the world.
"Stella Cora," Regina whispered out. She felt herself being worked on and being told to calm down.
The paramedics took Regina and the girls to the hospital. All four were in great health and Regina took a nap while Emma watched over their girls. A promise she had made to her exhausted wife.
While Regina wasn't able to be an active mom in the physical sense, she was involved in the lives of her children. She'd play with them. They'd watch movies, cartoons, baked, and read. Eventually, Regina would help with homework and projects. The children knew that their mommy couldn't do the same things mama could. That didn't matter to them because Regina had promised to always be there for them and she had kept that promise. She and Emma never broke a promise and had no intention of ever doing so anytime soon.
