It had been a few weeks since the curse had ended and Regina still hadn't heard from Emma or Henry. She had made a decision to leave Storybrooke. Regina didn't have a cursed identity and could leave the town when she pleased. The mayor had asked Snow and David to come over to talk. They reluctantly agreed.

"What did you want to talk about?" Snow asked.

Regina handed the woman two envelopes, "will you give these to Emma and Henry later tonight?"

"Why later tonight?"

"Please," Regina begged.

"Sure, we can do that."

"Thank you," Regina handed Snow another envelope, "this is for you to read later as well."

Regina went to stand but was having difficulty. David took pity on the woman and helped her up. She tried to thank him, but her emotions got the better of her. Regina walked out of the room and the couple left the house.

Snow, Emma, and Henry read their letters after dinner. Regina had apologized and expressed her regret about everything. She had also revealed that she was leaving town. Emma and Henry were the only other people who could leave. Henry stayed with Snow and David while Emma took off. On her way out of town, Emma noticed the lights in her mother's office were on. She sent a message to her parents who decided to check it out with her. Ruby went to stay with Henry. Regina was in her office when they walked in, "Jefferson's hat."

Regina turned and saw the three, "what are you doing here?"

"I was just about to ask you the same."

"Change of plans," Regina said.

"You're going to another realm so we can't find you," Snow said.

Regina spun the hat that began opening up a portal, "don't do this," Emma yelled because of the noise from the hat.

"I have to. The only way to fix this is for me to go away."

"There's no one over there to take care of you."

Regina gave a slight smile, "I'll be fine."

The mayor jumped into the portal, "no!" Emma yelled before following. Snow jumped in after her, but the portal closed before David could follow.

Regina woke up and saw Emma, "why did you follow me?"

"Are you alright?"

"So you're just going to ignore the question?"

"I guess you are too."

Regina noticed Snow was there too, "Regina, we need to find a way back to Storybrooke," she said.

Regina sat up with Emma's help, "I don't know that we can."

"We better start moving so we can find one."

Emma could tell that Regina wasn't going to be able to move very well, "we have to wait," she said.

"We don't have time," Snow told her daughter.

"She needs a moment or she won't be able to keep up."

"She's the reason we're here. The reason I'm away from your father and you're away from Henry."

"She's also the one who raised me."

"Yeah, because she took you away from us."

"Emma, I'm fine," Regina said.

"No, you're not."

"Look, I came here to make your life easier. Go with your mother to find a way home. I can't go with you. Not because I can't move, but because I don't belong there."

"So you're giving up? Just like that?" Emma felt herself becoming angrier, "fine. Be alone and struggle with your life. See if I care. Why should I? You clearly didn't care about anyone but yourself when you cast the curse." Emma stood, "come on, mom," she said mainly to hurt Regina, "let's go home." Emma walked away and Snow reluctantly followed. Regina broke down after they were far away.

"Emma," Snow tried to get her daughter's attention, "Emma, stop!"

Emma sighed and turned, "what?"

"Go back," she said, "get your mother."

"You're my mother."

"Right now I'm just your mother in DNA. That woman raised you. She also raised me. We can't just leave her."

Emma walked back to where they had left Regina. She heard the woman crying. Regina stopped when she saw a hand reach out for her. She looked up and saw Emma. The blonde took the woman's hand and pulled her to her feet, "we'll have to see if we can find something to help you walk." Emma took Regina back to Snow. They continued to move and keep an eye out for something to help support Regina.

"We should find a place to make camp," Snow said.

"Well, I don't know this place so that's all you," Emma said. Regina was exhausted and fell to the ground. "Mom!"

"Go," she said breathlessly, "I'll catch up."

"The last time you said that you tricked me into leaving you to die in a fire," Emma said. The blonde looked at Snow, "I'm gonna pull her to her feet. Can you hold onto her for a bit?"

"Sure," Snow helped Emma and did as she was asked.

Emma gently lifted the exhausted woman into her arms. She looked back at Snow, "lead the way."

They walked a bit longer before they came to an area by a ravine, "this should be good," Snow said. "Is she going to be alright?"

"At some point," Emma answered, "when? I don't know. It changes all the time."

"I'm going to go investigate the area. You stay with her," Snow said. When the woman returned, she had a large branch. She sat and took out a carving knife. Emma watched as her biological mother carved a cane for her adoptive mother.
