A/n: This idea popped into my head while I was writing my other story. I wrote it out and I think it turned out okay.

I don't own anything.

"Why do you even care?" Derek shouted at me.

"Because I love you!" I hadn't meant to say it, it just slipped out. Derek and I had been arguing for nearly half an hour by now. He had once again taken an unnecessary risk while out on a mission with the pack and I was fed up with it. He could have died! There had been so many close calls, the next thing could be what killed him.

As soon as I realized what I just said I clamped my mouth shut. It wasn't a lie, and I knew he could hear it in my heartbeat. I couldn't look him in the eyes so I turned around and started walking away. I felt tears burning behind my eyelids but didn't let them fall, not here, not now.

"Stiles!" Derek called out from behind me but I ignored him and climbed into my jeep.

I silently prayed that it would start without problems today and thankfully it did. With one last look in the rearview mirror I pulled out of the parking lot and started driving.

When I came home I immediately went up to my room. Dad was watching tv in the living room and I didn't feel like talking to him. It was pretty late and I was exhausted but there wasn't a chance I was going to be able to sleep. Instead I sat down in front of my computer and decided to do some research on the latest monster of the week, goblins. Seriously, goblins. What was next, a unicorn?

A few minutes later I heard my window open and close. I immediately knew who it was.

"Derek" I said, but didn't turn around to look at him. "Whatever you are going to do, do it quickly will you? Yell at me, slam my head against the desk, tell me you never want to see me again. It doesn't matter, but please make it quick."

"You are so stupid"

"Yeah, that works as well" I sighed, but still didn't turn around.

"Stiles, look at me." Derek said sternly.

I sighed again but reluctantly followed his order. When I looked up into his eyes I expected to see them filled with hate or even disgust. Instead he watched me with a soft, almost adoring look.

He pulled me out of my desk chair so that I was standing in front of him. He put his hand on my cheek and then he leaned down and kissed me. Derek Hale was kissing me!

After a few seconds he pulled back. "I love you too, idiot." He said with one of his rare smiles.

I kissed him again and then hugged him. My head pressed against his shoulder and my hands gripping the back of his shirt. "Promise me you won't take an unnecessary risk like that again." I whispered without looking up, my voice muffled by fabric.

He hugged me back tightly and pressed his lips against the top of my head.

"I promise."
