They had been running for ten minutes when Regina fell to the ground, unable to run any further. Cora turned at the sound and ran to her daughter, "Regina, sweetheart, we have to hurry."

"I can't," she said exhausted, "I can't walk anymore. My legs won't work. You have to keep going."

"I can't just leave you here."

"You have to. We don't have our magic and we need help."

"Alright, but only because I believe that she's already on her way to save you." Cora dragged Regina as far out of sight as possible before taking off.

Emma, Snow, and David were riding through the woods, "look, there's someone running this way," Emma said, "it's Cora!" She stopped her horse and jumped down. Emma ran to the woman who nearly collapsed from exhaustion, "I need water!" David gave his daughter a canteen. Emma helped Cora to the ground and gave her the water. She gave her mother-in-law a moment after she had finished drinking, "are you okay? Where's Regina?"

"She couldn't go...any further," Cora panted, "asked me...to get...help."

"Do you remember where you left her?"

"I ran in a straight...line. I tried to hide her."

"Can you hop on my horse with me and take us to her?"

"Yes," David gave the woman a hand getting on the horse. The four rode as quickly as they could to find Regina.

"It's coming up," Cora said, "stop here."

Emma did and got down. Cora pointed in the direction where she had left her daughter. The sheriff ran as quickly as she could. "Regina," she said with relief when she found her wife.

"Emma, you found me."

"Honey, we need to get you out of here."

"I can't stand."

"I'll help," the two women turned to find David standing there. He crouched down and lifted Regina. Snow gave Emma and Regina her horse and rode back with David.

The five family members entered the house through the back door. "Nice place you have here." Everyone stopped dead in their tracks. The lights turned on and revealed George. He walked closer to Emma. When he lifted his arm, Cora pushed Emma aside and George's hand went into her chest. "I thought you were smarter," he said as he ripped the woman's heart out. "Black as night. I bet your soul matches."

David heard Regina mumble, "no."

Cora collapsed and Emma went to her side while Snow snuck around to be more out of sight. "I really only wanted to kill your daughter, but if I have to kill the rest of you first then so be it."

George squeezed the heart and Cora screamed. The pain stopped when George suddenly dropped the heart. Emma quickly reached for it and put it back in Cora's chest. She pulled the woman out of the way when George fell face first. He had an arrow in his back.

"Do you ever miss?" Emma asked her mother.

"No, but on bad days I hit my target in the wrong spot."

"Are you okay?" Emma asked Cora.

"Thanks to you and your parents." Emma and Snow gave Cora a hand up. "You saved my life."

"You saved mine," Emma said.

"Cora, you have saved Emma and we are forever grateful," Snow added.

"Um, ladies," David said, "I'm really happy you all saved one another, but I need to put Regina down. Snow, call Mother Superior."

Snow made the call while the others rushed to the bedroom. David gently placed Regina on the bed, under the covers. "Thank you, David," Cora said.

Regina began to stir, "Emma," she mumbled.

"I'm right here," Emma took Regina's hands and leaned in more closely to better hear her wife.

"He killed her. He killed my mother," she cried.

"No, sweetheart," Cora sat on the other side of Regina and took one of her hands from Emma, "I'm right here. Snow and Emma saved me."

"You're really alright?"

"Yes, I really am."

When Blue showed up, everyone gave her some room to work. "She needs time to rest."

Blue left while Snow and David went to call their parents. "Cora, you should lie down and get some sleep. I'll stay with her."

"I know," Cora said, "I just don't want to leave her."

"Lay down next to her."

Cora gave Emma a tired smile and laid down with her daughter. Emma sat there wondering if she would ever be able to let Regina out of her sight again.

Two hours later, Regina began to wake up, "you know it's rude to stare."

Emma smiled, "go back to sleep."

"Only if you join me."

"Well, there's not enough room for me."

Emma pointed and Regina turned to see her mother next to her, "how long has she been asleep?"

"About as long as you. She didn't want to leave you, but she needed to rest."

"Thank you for watching out for her. How long have we been asleep?"

"Two hours," Emma answered.

"I could sleep for two years."

"As long as you're rested when you wake up."

"I'm going to cut you some slack for a few weeks because I know you won't want to let me out of your sight." Regina smiled when she saw Emma smile at the comment, "my mother will probably be here more often."

"That's okay," Emma said, "she needs to know you're okay and that's understandable."

"I love you."

"I love you too," Emma kissed her wife and the woman let sleep take her once again.

Cora and Henry Sr. stayed at the house with Emma and Regina for about a month. Cora was terrified to leave her daughter. After that month, she and her husband returned to their loft. However, Cora went to the house every day. Regina was still having trouble physically. The first week after the kidnapping was the worst. She was bedridden and utterly exhausted. Everyone took turns helping Emma take care of Regina and helping Regina get better. It took three months for Regina to be able to walk unaided. She and Emma celebrated with a trip to a clinic. Nine months later, Stella Cora Mills was born by Regina. The past two years had been insane, but no more than usual. It's actually the mildest insane year they've had. "Can you believe this?" Emma asked as she and Regina watched their parents play with their children.

"Believe what, dear?"

"Look at them. Those people right there, you would never have thought that they could get along."

"Well, people change when they let love in. I know I did." Regina saw a huge smile on Emma's face, "what are you smiling about?"

"They're our family. The orphan and the Evil Queen's family."

Regina smiled and put her arm around her wife. They both finally had what they had always wanted and they would do whatever it takes to keep it all. A lot had already been done to protect their magical, beautiful, non-traditional family. A lot more would need to be done and quickly to save one member of the family from someone they never thought they'd see again in Storybrooke.
