Regina had decided to take a walk to clear her head. She knew that she had done the right thing by telling Emma the truth about the curse. She just wished the sheriff was still speaking to her. Regina knew that she had walked too long and too far. Her legs began to cramp up. She fell onto the sidewalk outside of Granny's. Her hands and knee were scrapped. She had also hit her head. Ruby saw everything from inside.

"The mayor collapsed," she yelled as she ran to the door.

"So?" Leroy asked what everyone else was thinking.

Ruby ignored him and went to help the woman. Granny followed, "the paramedics are on their way."

"She's trying to say something," Ruby said.

"Em-ma," she mumbled, "Em-ma, sorry. So sorry, sorry."

Ruby called Emma after the ambulance left.

"Is she okay?" Emma asked.

"She was pretty out of it. I don't know anything yet."

"I'll be there as soon as I can."

"Emma, she mentioned you after she fell."

"What did she say?"

Emma hurried to the hospital and to Regina's room.

"How do you feel?" Emma asked.

"I want to go home."

"You will soon."

"What are you doing here?"

"Ruby called me after the paramedics picked you up."

"Oh," Regina said.

"She told me that you were calling my name and saying how sorry you were."

"Are," the mayor corrected.

"What?"

"I am still so very sorry."

"I'm sorry too. I overreacted about the whole thing."

"I just wanted to apologize and ask you to help break the curse."

"Really?"

"Yes, I made a mistake and I just want this to be over."

"If I break the curse then will you be able to walk better?"

"No, that ship has sailed. I traded my physical comfort and I can't get it back."

"I bet there's a way. If there is then I'm willing to look for it while helping you."

"Thank you, Emma. This could become dangerous. More so for me than you."

"Whatever happens, I will protect you, and I will always find you."

The last part gave Regina chills. Emma wasn't the only one to have said those words and the others said them to their true love.

A month later, Henry visited Regina at her office to confront her about the curse. He became angry and ran out the door. Regina rushed after Henry, but he was too fast. She didn't see if he had gone down another flight of stairs or out the exit. Regina decided on the exit. She opened the door and was thrown backward. The exit was on fire. Regina realized her legs were trapped under a ladder. One she was too weak to lift.

"Mom!"

"Henry?" she saw her son running back up the stairs. The boy helped her remove the ladder.

"We have to get out of here."

"No," Regina said, "you have to get out of here. I can't get up or walk anymore." She coughed and was no longer able to hold herself up.

"Mom, please, I'll be good."

"You're always good. That's why I never deserved you. I want you to know that I have always loved you. Now go," she said, "Emma's on her way here anyway. When she gets here, listen to everything she says."

Henry nodded and hugged his mom before running back down the stairs. He ran out of the front door and saw Emma running towards him, "Henry, are you alright?"

"Mom's trapped," he said.

Without hesitating, Emma ran into the burning building. She saw Regina lying on the stairs. Emma ran into the burning room, used the fire extinguisher, and ran back out. "Emma," Regina coughed out, "you found me."

"I told you I always would." Emma lifted the mayor and carried her outside. She held the coughing woman while awaiting the paramedics.

Emma helped Regina into the house. They sat in the living room with Henry, "so, how do we break the curse?" Emma asked.

"True love's kiss," Henry said.

"Oh," Emma leaned in and kissed Regina. Nothing happened, "well, that's not a good sign."

Regina smiled, "it's fine, Emma. True love comes in many forms."

"I'll just have to keep kissing you until it works."

"I wouldn't have it any other way."

Emma made sure that while she was trying to break the curse, she was also taking care of Regina. The woman's legs were quite swollen, she had a concussion, her back was bruised, and her leg twisted. Emma tried for months to break the curse but wasn't able to. She felt like a failure, "I don't understand. I've kissed you hundreds of times and the curse is still here."

"Maybe I'm not your true love," Regina said as the two sat in the park.

"No, that can't be true. I've never felt about anyone the way I feel about you."

"We'll figure it out."

Henry walked over, rubbing his head. "What happened?" Emma asked.

"I tripped and hit my head."

"Here," Emma kissed Henry's head and everyone felt a rush. "Was that?"

"Yes, you did it," Regina said.

Emma saw a realization come over everyone, "let's go."

Emma realized she had to get Regina home as quickly as possible. She ended up having to carry Regina to the car in order to move fast. "Emma, slow down."

"No, they're after you."

"It's okay," Regina said.

"I won't let them hurt you."

Emma pulled into the driveway and quickly carried her girlfriend into the house. Regina was lying on the couch and Emma sat with her to help ease the pain in her legs.
