Henry continuously avoided his mother. If he was in the room when she was, he remained silent and tried to keep his presence a secret. Emma, Snow, and David worked on helping Regina. Emma always worked on the more intimate tasks like eating, dressing, and anything in the bathroom. David and Snow helped Regina move around the loft. One day, Snow and Emma had taken Henry out for a while. It was just David and Regina.

"Will you be alright if I start dinner?" he asked.

"Could I actually help?"

"I think I can find something for you to do." It made David smile to see Regina smile. She had been blind for two weeks and while she was getting used to it, it was still incredibly difficult. Regina grabbed her cane and David took her other arm. He helped the woman walk to the table. "Why don't you tear the lettuce for the salad?"

"I should be able to do that."

"Hold out your hand with the palm down and I'll hand you the bowl," Regina did and David was able to help her take the bowl. She sat it down in front of her and placed a hand inside the empty bowl so she knew where it was. David then handed her lettuce. He sat at the table to cut the vegetables. Regina felt the lettuce and then began tearing it.

"Am I even getting it in the bowl?"

"Shockingly, yes," David said.

"Thank you for letting me help. It's nice to be able to do something and not feel useless."

"Anytime," he said, "I know Emma and Snow hover."

"It's okay," Regina said, "that's their way of showing me they care and you show me by letting me try to do things."

"At least you're not angry at anyone. Anger wouldn't be helpful to your recovery."

"Has Henry said anything about me?"

"No, I'm sorry, he hasn't."

"I know he ignores me when he's in the room. He's tried to keep me from finding out he's around."

"How do you know that?"

"My hearing has heightened since I lost my sight. I can hear Emma whisper to him or him turning the page in his comic books."

"Damn, that last one's pretty amazing."

"It hurts so much that my son hates me."

"Regina, he doesn't hate you."

"While it hurts, he does have every right to hate me. I made too many mistakes. Too many terrible mistakes."

"People have forgiven you."

"But my son hasn't and no offense but he's the only one I want forgiveness from."

"I can understand that."

"Not that I don't appreciate the others."

"I know."

"He's not really my son anymore, is he?"

"He will always be your son."

"No, he's not mine anymore. He's Emma's and that's what he's always wanted."

The door opened and Regina jumped, "don't worry," David said, "they just got home."

Regina could hear Henry run upstairs. "Look at you," Emma said happily, "such a show-off."

"Is any of it in the bowl? I asked David but I have a feeling he was trying to be nice."

"And I wouldn't?"

"Not always, no."

Emma laughed along with her parents, "well, you have managed to get all of it into the bowl. Do you want to try to do something else or rest?"

"Rest, my back is starting to hurt. I'd actually like to lie down for a bit."

David was mentally kicking himself, "I should have given you a pillow."

"That's okay," Regina smiled in the direction of his voice. She grabbed her cane and Emma helped her up and over to the bed. Emma left her to rest and returned to the kitchen where David told her and Snow about the conversation he had just had with Regina.

"I don't know what to do?" Emma said, "he acts as if she doesn't exist."

"There has to be a way to get Henry to at least talk to her," Snow said.

"Maybe we should just talk to him like I've been suggesting," David said.

"I just don't think that will work with him. I've tried talking to him and he ignores me," Emma told her father.

"Why don't we ask Regina if she can think of anything?" Snow asked.

"No, she told me he's not her son anymore. I doubt she'll try to make him talk to her."

"Well, he's eating with us tonight. No more him eating upstairs. Maybe if he sees her struggling he'll start to soften," Emma said. They had been allowing Henry to take his meals upstairs as a way to help Regina be more comfortable as she tried to eat. Henry was not happy to be eating at the table. "Regina, do you want my help?"

"I think I'll try on my own. Lunch wasn't so bad."

"No, she did really well," David said, "except when she stabbed me with her fork."

"That was an accident. I thought your hand was the plate with the chicken. It's not like I broke the skin. Although, you could have lied to me about that."

The two were smiling and had been joking about it all day. "Well, let me know if you need help," Emma said before going over what was on Regina's plate and where it was. Henry watched as Regina looked down while she ate. He would later find out that she did that so she didn't make anyone uncomfortable by staring straight ahead at them. She did struggle and there were times when she did ask Emma for help. It was usually when she was trying to find her drink. What Henry didn't know because he hadn't been eating with his family, is that Regina was doing much better than she had been two weeks ago.
