White walls, a strong scent of disinfectant, and the distant sounds of heart monitors. That's what Jaune's senses clued in on as he came to. He stifled a soft moan as blue eyes blinked against bright light. This was some kind of medical room, but what was he doing here...?

"What happened? The last thing I remember is hooking up to the device and… and…"

"Amber!" Jaune cried out.

Next to him in a chair resting, Pyrrha's eyes snapped open and she immediately moved to his right side.

"Jaune! It's okay, you're okay!" She cried holding a hand to his chest to keep him from getting up. "You're in Beacon's medical ward, your father and I brought you here."

Jaune allowed himself to calm down, getting hysterical wasn't going to help him get answers.

"Do you... Know where Amber is?"

Pyrrha pursed her lips for a moment before excusing herself. Jaune waited patiently for a few seconds before the redhead reentered the room. With a sight he was more than happy to see.

"Hey Jaune," Amber said stepping in with the assistance of a came, she was wearing a white medical gown. She was under care like him, possibly in the other room if Pyrrha's quick retrieval was anything to go by. His worry about it shined through as her next sentence came. "It's just a temporary thing, not moving for over a hear then getting into a brawl is not constructive for a person's muscles. At least that's what the medics said."

"Fight... The Grimm invasion!" Jaune tried to sit up but was forced down by Pyrrha once more.

"It's taken care of!" She said. "The situation is under control now, your family is also fine. They are resting and I'm sure will show up once they learn you're awake."

Amber took the time to explain it better. "The sheer amount of hunters in the city and Atlas soldiers managed to contain and deal with it. There are still pockets of them but it's basically dealt with..." Her expression dropped. "A lot of people were killed though..."

"Blake and Yang managed to help WRRN out of Amity and even captured an Adam Taurus. The White Fang was also completely destroyed after today."

"What about Cinder?" Jaune turned to Amber. "Has there been anything about her?" If she was still out there then everybody had a problem.

"Well she's dead," Amber shrugged. "Took her down right after you got me back in this." She tapped a finger to her head and smiled appreciatively.

Jaune sighed, his relief filling the air around him. "With them gone the city will be free from harassment, there will be time to rebuild and recover from this." No one left to kick Vale while they were down was the best outcome that could be won from this moment.

"I suppose Ozpin's going to be busy for quite a while then. At least we took care of those reoccurring problems." The happy attitude in the room died in an instant and Jaune could only stare in confusion until Amber broke the news.

"Ozpin is dead, Cinder killed him." A wide-eyed stare was the only thing he could give her. "Wore her down for me, that's the only reason I was able to take that cunt out." She hissed. "Good witch is in charge now and Ironwood keeps calling for me to be transferred to Atlas for safekeeping."

"Atlas, that does sound like a safe bet. With Vale being as damaged, the dust shortage and attack. Even without anybody taking advantage of it will probably take years before the city gets fixed."

"So I guess we're going to have to say goodbye..." Jaune locked with her brown eyes sadly, she was his teacher and friend. It was going to suck losing her after all this but if it was for the best.

"No, we are not."

He smiled. "I'll see you later then?"

"No, I am not leaving nor am I going to let them take me away from here." Jaune stared at her in confusion and she chuckled. "If they seriously think they can just pull me away from people I care about and isolate me again... Well let's just say they're gonna have another thing coming."

Jaune couldn't help but laugh, he should not be as surprised as he was. He knew Amber would never agree to nor fail to put up a fight against something that tore at her last time. "Well, I'm now in this fight as much as you are, so I guess they're going to have to accept that-"

Jaune paused, he pushed himself up by trying to use the length of these upper arms as support. While his right arm did so without question Jaune found himself leaning to the left. Looking over the note the blanket covering him was sagging a bit too much over his left side. In a flash, too fast for either girl to do anything about it, he pushed himself up and allowed the blanket to fall. No shores were using the gasp at what he saw or didn't see.

No left arm.

Just bandages wrapped around his left shoulder where his arm should have been connected to.

"Wha- What the hell happened...?" He said, directing the question to no one but himself as he stared at the stump. He only turned when he felt Pyrrha's hand interlock with his right peering into her emerald green eyes.

Amber had moved to her side, the same concern Pyrrha felt mirrored on her. "You know my powers were damaging your arm... Well you holding out against the pain helped me get back inside my body but..." She sighed regretfully as if she was somehow at fault.

Pyrrha took the moment to take over for her. "The doctors said most of the bones were cracked completely through or had been powderized. That combined with a lot of internal bleeding meant that they just had to just cut it off."

Jaune turned back to the stump where his arm used to be and stared for a while before turning back to Amber. "How does your body feel?"

She stared for a moment before answering. "Incredibly sore, but otherwise working just fine."

He sighed gratefully then said with all seriousness. "Totally worth it then."

"Pfff-" Amber just laughed, loud at first before falling into a coughing fit, her chest heaving out air. Pyrrha pushed her chair out and the brown-skinned maiden to the invitation. "Being back in my body isn't perfect, doctors say I'll need a while to get back into shape... I think this is going to be alright. Better than how I imagined."

"I mean there are always prosthetics, right? I'd say I would look a lot cooler with a metal arm. What do you say Pyr?" Jaune gripped Pyrrha's hand tighter and she leaned herself into him. Lips connected and held for a few seconds, it felt a lot longer before breaking off.

"While Vale is going to be alright that isn't going to last with... you know who still out there," Amber added, cautious not to ruin the moment between them. "This fight isn't over just yet..."

"We have time to rest and relax though. This might not be over, but neither are we. We'll have this taken care of together." Jaune nodded unconcerned.

Amber gave her own smile, grateful to feel the muscle on her face stretch and pull to make the expression for once. "Yeah, I suppose it will."

And that's it, this was a lot of fun to write. Difficult at times and went on a few hiatus but overall this was a neat journey for the production of this story. I hope you all enjoyed it and if not tell me why in the reviews, I read all of those.
