A few months later the curse was broken and everyone remembered everything. A mob saw Regina walking towards her front door. The woman thought she heard something, but wasn't sure. As the mob got closer, Regina heard them better. She turned and moments later was tackled to the ground by Whale. The impact caused the woman to cry out in pain. "That's nothing compared to what you've put us through," Whale said.

Regina didn't say anything. What could she possibly say?

Emma pulled Whale off of Regina, spun him around, and punched him in the face. "You ever come near her again, and I'll kill you." Everyone turned and left. Whale reluctantly followed while his nose bled. Snow and David were a bit surprised by what had just happened. Emma knelt down next to Regina and signed, "are you alright?" The mayor shook her head. Emma gently and lovingly helped Regina up and handed the woman her cane. She helped Regina into the house and to the couch.

David, Snow, Blue, Red, and Granny noticed that Emma kept signing. "Emma," Snow said and waited for her daughter to turn, "what are you doing?"

"What?"

"You keep signing."

"She's partially deaf so this is easier sometimes."

"Wait, when did that happen?"

"The fire," Emma answered, "she has an injured hip and back from it too. She can't hear out of her left ear."

Henry turned to Blue, "could you fix my mom's ear?"

"Henry, I don't have magic. I'm not sure if it would be possible with magic because it's been a while since that fire."

"If you get your magic back, will you try?"

Blue looked at the boy for a moment, "sure, Henry, I can try."

"Hey, Henry," Emma called, "could you get your mom's pain pills?" The boy turned and then ran towards the bathroom. Everyone saw how contorted Regina's face was. Emma leaned in next to Regina's right ear, "it's gonna be okay, honey. You're gonna be alright." Henry ran in with the pills and a glass of water. Emma gave Regina the pills and Henry helped his mom drink the water. "Thanks, kid," Emma said. Regina curled into the woman and Henry placed a blanket on her.

"Emma," David said softly, "do you care if we stick around and talk to Henry?"

"No, go ahead. It would actually be helpful."

The others went out to the backyard with Henry, "is her pain usually that bad?" Snow asked.

"Well, if she falls or hits the wrong part of her body then it is."

"I'm assuming that Whale knew?" David asked.

"Yeah, he treated my mom."

"Well, that just gave me a reason to hate him," Granny said and everyone looked at her. "Getting justice is one thing, but assaulting someone you know can't defend themselves is another."

"Maybe we should all take turns standing watch?" Ruby suggested.

"That's not a bad idea," Granny agreed.

They came up with a schedule for each person to stay at the house with Emma, Regina, and Henry. That way if someone broke in, someone else could help Emma.

A week after the curse had been broken, Regina was actually home alone. Emma had been with her, but Regina needed her to go to a meeting for her. Regina saw smoke coming from her kitchen. She thought that she could hear a beeping, but wasn't sure if it was just her ear ringing. She limped into the kitchen and was surrounded by smoke. The oven was ablaze and the mayor couldn't see anything. She started coughing and hit her hip on the counter causing her to drop in pain. The mayor shakily took out her phone and hit a contact number. She couldn't see because of the smoke and couldn't hear the other person. Luckily, the person heard her coughing and the smoke alarm beeping. A few minutes later, Regina thought she heard a voice as she lay on the kitchen floor. Suddenly, David was leaning over her, "Regina! Can you stand?"

"No," she croaked out, "help me, please."

David lifted the woman and could tell it caused her pain. He ran out of the house with her in his arms. He sat Regina against her gate, facing the street, and sat in front of her. "Hey!" he waited until she looked at him, "what happened?" When she didn't answer, he signed the question, surprising Regina.

"I don't know."

"Where does it hurt?"

"Everywhere," she said.

The fire truck showed up along with Emma. She ran to her girlfriend to check on her. David filled his daughter in on everything, "how do we take her to the hospital when Whale is the only doctor there?"

"Regina, can you cross the town line?" David asked loudly.

"Yes," she answered.

"Find a hospital outside of town that's close and take her there. Snow and I will take care of Henry."

"I'll grab her car. It will be easier for her to ride in that. Plus I get to drive a Mercedes," the blonde smiled and saw Regina slightly smile too. David helped get Regina settled in the car. Both promised to call if they received news on the fire or Regina.
