When Regina walked into her house she found the cane propped up against the door. She took it and slowly made her way up the steps. Later that night, Emma called to invite her to a party at Granny's the next day.

"I appreciate the invitation, but I'm a bit under the weather."

"Do you need me to come over?"

"No, I just need to rest. That was all a lot for me and the baby. If I rest tomorrow then I should feel fine. I might need a few days though."

"Okay, just let me know if you need anything."

"I will," Regina said, "and Emma..."

"Yeah?"

"I love you."

"I love you too."

Once the call had ended, Regina began to cry. She didn't want to die but she had no control over this. The mayor hoped that one day Emma would forgive her for keeping this all a secret.

Gold walked into Granny's and motioned for Emma to follow him outside.

"What's so important, Gold?" Emma asked as the door closed behind her.

"She doesn't want anyone to know, but she needs you."

"Who?"

"Regina"

"What's wrong?"

"She's dying"

"What?"

"The magic from the portal she absorbed went straight to her heart. She's barely able to get around and can't take care of herself."

"What about the baby?"

"Once her heart stops then the baby's will too."

"How long does she have?"

"A few days. Maybe less," He answered.

Emma ran into the restaurant and excused herself. She said that she had to attend to an emergency and left. The sheriff sped the whole way to Regina's. She ran through the house and up the stairs. Emma found Regina in bed, propped up by pillows.

Regina turned to see Emma in the doorway. She could tell by the blonde's expression that she knew.

"Gold told you," she said softly.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"I didn't want to burden you or have this be your last memory of me."

"It won't be. I won't let you or our child die."

"Emma, it's no use. There's nothing you can do."

"I refuse to believe that."

"Then you're a fool." Regina saw Emma smile, "what?"

"I forgot how great pregnancy looked on you."

Regina looked down at her tiny bump and rubbed a hand on it, "just try to find a way to save the baby. Give me a sleeping curse until I carry to term."

"I'll look into it to see if it would even be safe. Now, get some rest." Emma waited for Regina to fall asleep. She rushed downstairs when she heard knocking. Emma was pretty shocked to see her parents on the other side. "What are you two doing here?"

"Gold told us," Snow said.

"Come in," Emma moved aside to let her parents in.

"If you had told us then we would have come over to help," Snow said.

"Look, you know how Regina is about people seeing her like that. She needs space."

"How can you forgive her after she tried to kill you?" David asked.

"Because I love her. She wasn't trying to kill me. All she wanted was to protect me. The turnover had a sleeping curse. She didn't want me to break the curse. Then I wouldn't find out about everything she did in the Enchanted Forest, and I wouldn't be heartbroken," Emma answered.

"Emma," Regina groaned from her room.

The blonde rushed into the bedroom and over to Regina, "hey, what's wrong?"

"I'm so hot," Regina said in a raspy voice.

"How about a cool bath?"

"Okay," Regina sighed. Emma helped the woman out of bed and handed her cane to her. Snow and David watched the scene before them. They waited until the bathroom door closed to speak.

"David, this is horrible."

"I didn't realize how bad things were."

"There has to be something we can do."

"I still can't help but feel anger towards her."

"David, she's carrying our grandchild who will die if she does."

"I didn't say I wouldn't help. Let's get to work." Snow and David began looking for a way to save Regina and the baby. They found a serum that could be injected into Regina's heart to rid it of the dark magic she absorbed.

Snow and David explained everything about the serum to Emma who then explained it to Regina.

"How am I suppose to inject her heart with this? The needle isn't long enough to reach it."

"Emma, you need to remove my heart," Regina said weakly.

"Is that even safe right now?"

"You have a limited amount of time before it affects the baby."

"Am I even able to remove your heart?"

"Yes, you are."

Emma hesitated for a moment. She followed Regina's hand to the location of her heart. She removed Regina's heart and quickly injected it with the serum. Once the syringe was empty, Emma put the heart back in Regina's body. "How long until it works?"

"I can feel it working. It may take a day or two for me to get back on my feet."

"You should probably take it easy for a while. Just for the sake of the baby."

"Thank you," Regina said and looked at Snow and David, "all of you. The baby and I will survive because you never gave up."

"We only did it for our grandchildren," David said.

"David!" Emma scolded her father.

"Once that baby is born then you're on your own," He said before walking out.

"I'll talk to him," Snow said, "just give me some time to absorb everything. It's all kind of happened so fast." She turned and followed her husband out.

"I'll be back," Emma said before leaving the room. She returned five minutes later. "I told my parents that if they wanted to be in my life and the lives of their grandchildren that they had to be nice to you."

"That's asking a bit much."

"Not really," Emma said, "the past is the past and you have been working hard at redeeming yourself."

"On a different subject, can we eat outside tonight? I could use the fresh air."

"We can eat wherever you want. As long as you're up to it."

"Maybe we should wait. I keep wanting to rush getting out of bed."

"Well, you've been stuck here for a while."

"Why don't we eat in here and just open the window."

"We can do that." Emma opened a window near the bed and saw how the fresh air relaxed Regina. That night they ate dinner in bed with the boys too. They all wanted what they had before the book and this was the first time since the break up that they all felt any hope of getting it back.
