Five months later, Regina disappeared. David and Snow found Regina unconscious and strapped to a table at the Cannery. David carried the woman to take her home. It took a while for her to begin to come to. "You, you saved me?" Regina whispered.
"Did you really think we'd let you die?" David asked, "I thought we had come far enough for you to know we have your back."
"I guess it's still surprising. Did you get them?"
"No, they got away."
"Then they still have it."
"Have what?" Snow asked.
Regina explained the trigger which angered the couple. "Seriously, after everything that's happened, you were going to kill us?" David yelled.
"Of course not. I was going to destroy it."
"So we can destroy it?" Snow asked.
"As long as it hasn't been activated."
"We better start looking for them," David said.
Snow had Remy sit with Regina and Odette while she and David went to search for Greg and Tamara. Remy had gone to change Odette, so Regina decided to get out of bed and ready for a fight. She had a terrible headache but thanks to Mother Superior, she didn't have any other problems from the electrocution. Emma, Snow, David, and Henry returned to the loft. Unfortunately, Henry's birth father was lost in the fight with Tamara. Snow and David took the kids to Granny's while Regina and Emma went to find the trigger. "Can you stop it?" Emma asked.
"I think so," Regina said. "I need you to get the kids and everyone out of Storybrooke."
"I'll wait for you by the portal."
"No," Regina said softly.
"You're not coming," Emma said, "that's why you said goodbye to the kids."
"It will take every last bit of strength I have to stop this. This is all my fault and I have to fix it."
"Regina..."
"Everyone still looks at me as the Evil Queen. Including our sons. Let me die as Regina."
"What am I suppose to tell the kids?"
"Tell them it wasn't too late for me to do the right thing."
Emma reluctantly left as Regina began to try and slow down the trigger. She told everyone at Granny's to get to the portal and that Regina wouldn't survive. She wouldn't be able to stop the trigger, but she could slow it down long enough for everyone to get out. The town decided to stay and help Regina. If she was willing to die to save them then they could risk dying to save her. Emma and Regina were able to stop the trigger together. Too bad the celebration wouldn't last long.
After Neverland, things began to get weird. They were weird even for Storybrooke. Turns out that Pan had switched bodies with Henry before going into Gold's box. Gold sacrificed himself and killed his father. Pan had enacted a new curse that Regina had to stop.
"What do we have to do?" Emma asked.
"It's not what we have to do," Regina said, "it's what I have to do."
"Okay, well, what's that?"
"Sacrifice the thing I love the most."
Emma turned and looked at their kids, "no."
"You and the kids are going to leave Storybrooke."
"What?"
"Everyone will return to the Enchanted Forest except them because they were born here. You're the Savior and can stay."
"No, we're a family. We can't leave without you."
"I'll give you and the boys a whole new set of memories. You won't miss me because you won't remember me."
"What about Odette?"
"She's so young that I don't have to do anything."
Emma and the kids packed some of their things and drove to the town line. The entire town was there to say goodbye and wait for Regina to help. "I can't believe this is happening," Emma said with tears in her eyes.
"I know," Regina said equally upset. "I want you to know, even though you won't remember, that you are my true love. You are the love of my life and I will never forget you or our children."
"I feel the same way about you. I love you more than anything." The two kissed and hugged each other tightly.
"Go," Regina said.
Emma and the kids said goodbye to everyone and got in the car. They drove away in tears and watched as their family and friends disappeared. Seconds later they forgot everything and everyone connected to Storybrooke, but Storybrooke would never forget them.
