Over the next couple of days, Odette was constantly following Snow, Emma, and David. Regina had been incredibly silent those two days as well. She was, however, able to bond with baby Faline. On the third day, Regina was sitting outside when Snow walked out with Odette. "Oh, I forgot your juice," Snow said.
"Stay here with mommy and I'll be back."
"Otay," Odette said. Regina was surprised the little girl didn't follow Snow. Instead, she ran towards the apple tree.
"Odette, sweetheart, come back here." The little girl kept going and began to try and climb the tree, "Odette!" Somehow, Regina found the strength to get up and rush to the tree. She grabbed the toddler from the branch and sat her down. "Sweetheart, it's too dangerous for you to climb that tree. Especially without someone with you."
Snow walked out and was stunned to see Regina standing under the tree with Odette. She saw movement above the two and panicked, "Regina, look out!" Regina looked up and saw the branch Odette had been pulled from about to fall. She shoved Odette out of the way just in time. Snow rushed to her granddaughter as best as she could, "Odette, are you okay?"
Emma heard the commotion and walked outside. The sight before her made her heart drop, "Regina!" She began to run towards the unconscious woman who was pinned under a large tree limb.
Snow saw the fallen woman and held on tightly to her granddaughter. "Is mommy dead?"
"I'm sure mommy's fine," Snow tried to reassure the two-year-old. She was also trying to reassure herself.
David came running out after hearing Emma scream. He rushed to help his daughter remove the limb. Emma fell to her knees, "Regina, wake up. Please, honey, wake up." She felt her eyes begin to flood with tears.
"Wanna see mommy," Odette yelled. Emma held out a hand to tell her daughter it was okay. Odette walked over and knelt down by Regina on the side opposite Emma. She looked at the woman as if she were thinking. Odette raised her hands and placed them over Regina's back. She moved her hands up and down. Snow and David were now standing behind Odette and just as stunned as Emma.
Soon, Regina began to moan and squirm. She rolled over and noticed she was lying on the ground with Emma, Snow, David, and Odette around her. "What happened?"
"You saved Odette's life," Emma said.
"And then she saved yours," Snow added.
Regina sat up quickly and Emma moved to support her from behind. "What are you talking about?"
"She healed you. Whatever happened when that limb fell on you, she fixed."
"But, how?"
Emma shrugged and looked at Odette who copied her mama. "It looked like she just knew," David said.
"Yep," Odette agreed with him.
"Here, let's get you off the ground," Emma said.
"Hold on," Regina opened her arms and Odette walked into them. She sat on Regina's lap as the two hugged, "thank you, princess."
"Welcome, mommy," she said, "tank you."
"Anytime, sweetheart," once the hug was finished, David and Emma helped Regina to her feet.
"Are you in any pain?" Emma asked.
"No, whatever she did worked. I'm stiff, but I can deal with that."
"What happened?" Emma asked as she helped Regina back to the table and into the chair.
"Your mom went inside to get Odette's juice and left her with me."
"Probably not the best idea," Snow said.
Regina shrugged it off, "anyway, Odette was going to the tree and I yelled for her to stop. I figured if she was just running around then she'd be fine so I decided to leave things alone, but she started climbing it and I somehow ran to her."
"Sowy mommy," Odette said. The little girl was terribly upset, "just wanted apple. Didn't want you get hurt getting one. Did anyway."
"Come here," Regina lifted her daughter and placed her on her lap, "I am perfectly fine because of you. It'll take more than a tree to get rid of me."
"Or a fire," Emma said.
"Or a wraith," Snow added.
"Or a dark magic portal," David said.
Regina glared at the three, "are you through?"
"We have a lot more, but we'll save them for later," Emma teased.
"Good, now, go get Odette an apple."
Emma walked towards the tree but came back with the entire limb that fell. "Here, these were already picked."
"You're lucky Odette's here right now," Regina said before mouthing 'smartass'.
Snow got a basket and she helped Odette get the apples before taking them inside to wash them. David chopped the limb up for firewood. Things had been calm in Storybrooke since Emma and the kids returned. Of course, that wasn't going to last long.
