The house was far too silent for Molly's liking as she and Arthur returned from King's Cross, having just seen their youngest child off for her first year of schooling.
The stillness of the house brought instinctual anxiety out in Molly, as her first thoughts were of checking the twins' room to see what they were up to, only to remember that they, too, were on the train.
She took to puttering about the kitchen, cleaning up from a lively, full breakfast with six kids, and preparing for a surely dull dinner with two adults. Not surprisingly, Arthur disappeared out to his shed not long after getting home, saying something about filling out forms for the missing car.
Once the dishes were set to clean themselves and the dinner prepped, Molly made herself a cup of tea and allowed herself a few biscuits to brighten her spirits.
She sunk to the sofa, setting the cup and saucer down on the coffee table, and immediately feeling a weight settle on the cushion next to her. Molly turned to come face-to-face with a small ivory and purple feline creature.
"Oh, there you are, Delly," she cooed, petting the soft tufts of violet fur atop the delcatty's ears. Delly made a sound resembling purring as she took the opportunity to climb onto Molly's lap.
The older woman chuckled and plucked a biscuit from the plate. She quickly broke it in two as it piqued Delly's curiosity. Molly held one half out to her familiar as a distraction, chewing on the other half herself and watching the pokemon sniff at the snack before licking her palm clean.
They shared the rest of Molly's snack in the same manner, as she was confident Delly wouldn't let her alone unless she shared. Afterward, they sat together in contented silence, enjoying a peaceful moment.
